Local Chefs and Food Organizations Prepare Free Thanksgiving Meals to 1,000 Detroit Families | Eater Detroit

"Beginning Wednesday, November 25, a volunteer team of roughly 50–60 people will use this church as a distribution point to deliver Thanksgiving meals to about 1,000 food-insecure Detroit families. The multi-organization effort prepared thousands of turkey dinners over several days—featuring roasted turkey donated by a supplier as well as stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and sweet potato soufflé—and drew chefs, bakers, nonprofits, volunteers, and food-rescue organizations working together to meet rising pandemic-era need across the city." - Brenna Houck

I attended a concert. A personal friend, James Cohen, organized the event for his dad James Sr., who just turned 93 or 94 . Jazz singer Kimmie Horn was the hostess. His dad is a classicly trained pianist.

This 92 year old church is in remarkable condition, especially the original Skinner organ donated by the Dodge family. We have a new young pastor, we are very open and welcoming, and are ready to have dozens of guests join us for worship!

In the heart of the eastside of Detroit, this church has a great neighborhood presence. I love hearing the bells when I walk down Jefferson Avenue on Sunday morning.

Nice historic church. Went for a beautiful Christmas concert. Parking is on streets once the small parking lot fills up.

Beautiful historic building near Indian Village and the east riverfront. This year, the congregation hosted a superlative performance of Handel's "Messiah", performed by the Fort Street Chorale and the Michigan Sinfonietta Orchestra.
