This place is like walking into your grandmother’s home. It smells amazing and you just know you’ll be getting something delicious and nourishing to eat. It may not be the most modern restaurant you’ve ever been to, but I promise you won’t leave unsatisfied. The food is warm and comforting. I got the half bbq chicken and it was perfect. Succulent, smoky, and just a little sweet. The cornbread was salty and coarse, just like I like it, and the banana pudding was the perfect way to end off a filling meal. This little hidden gem is by far worth looking for.

Google
I love trying new places, especially smaller local places as this one. For $14 you can get this tray. Meat and 2 sides and a biscuit or cornbread. The cornbread was so buttery and amazing I didn’t even need to add butter. The fried chicken is perfectly fried and extremely juicy.

Google
Excellant Meat and Three restaurant in Murfreeaboro! Family owned, great food and local vibes. Best greens I have had, great cornbread dressing, and great fried fish. I want to go back and try their deserts!!

Google
My dad heard about this place so he took me to lunch here yesterday and I just had to leave a review. It was delicious. My dad couldn’t stop talking about how good the catfish was. I can’t stop thinking about that cornbread. I was super pleased with the fact that they give you plenty of food too so I have leftovers. We will definitely be back very soon. Thank y’all!

Google
This was EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for! Smothered pork steak, turnip greens, mashed potatoes, and an outrageously good piece of corn bread. Super friendly people, excellent food, fantastic pricing. Jeff’s is well worth a visit if you’re in the area

Google
Very family meat and three. Tasty, suitably priced. Very homey atmosphere. Paneled walls add a funky 1970s touch. The fishtank is fun.

Google
This was some great good old fashion country southern cooking just like it use to be. The fried chicken breast was massive and juice. The northern beans...pinto beans ...Green beans were really good. The pie is delicious. Their faith is strong and they share it. Thank you Jeff for an amazing lunch. GOD BLESS

Paul Brightly

Google
Meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, cornbread, and sweet tea was delicious! Restaurant is diverse and the people is naturally friendly. I enjoyed the southern hospitality here.

Yelp
Loved it here! You pretty much walk in and grab yourself a tray. It's cafeteria style so just let them know what you want and sit down to enjoy your yummy meal. I tried the fried chicken and I felt that it was cooked perfectly. It wasn't over fried or undercooked. The seasoning was also perfect. My other favorite thing I tried was the flapjack cornbread. I loved it sooooo much. I tried the hot water cornbread too. That one was good too, but I loved the flapjack one more. Their Mac n cheese was also pretty yummy. It was definitely not dry. Loved that! Their mashed potatoes and gravy were also made perfectly .8 really had no complaints about the food here. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place went down hill from 8 years ago,,food not like it was to me they have cut corners from the ribs to the home made cake,8 years ago I took a party of 14 and everyone has great delight eating there went just 3months ago and what'a different I really don't recommend this place until they do better.

Yelp
Still my favorite meat-n-three in the Boro! Service and food is always spot on! If you are near MTSU - be sure to stop here. It's a family owned, local business!
google avatar

Paloma T.

Yelp
Love this place! Definitely worth the drive from Nashville. The staff is always very nice and they work hard to make their huge menu everyday. Some of my favorites are the Cajun catfish, hashbrown casserole, and chess pie! Also, they are open on Sunday!

Yelp
Went to Jeff's restaurant for a reasonably priced meat and 2 lunch. Got their country fried steak. With iced tea, the bill was $19.21! I made a comment that I couldn't believe the bill was that high & the line server became extremely rude and racist, even saying "do you think you can come to the hood and get a deal?". Then disrespectfully mumbling. Ruined my lunch before I even started. The country fried steak was almost completely inedible due to toughness. At least, fortunately, the lady serving the tables was very pleasant. This place has priced themselves out of the market.

Yelp
Lovely environment. Service is great they always take care of you. Food is very good they know what they're doing. Definitely a family business.

Yelp
Jeff's has been our go-to meat & three place for a while now. The last few visits though have been pretty hit or miss. Stopped in last Wednesday just after 2pm. The salmon croquettes were freshly cooked and delicious. The mashed potatoes and cornbread were barely lukewarm, and the turnip greens were nearly all stems. Maybe the regular cook is on vacation???

Steve H.

Yelp
Excellent meat and 3, Owner was very nice and staff were friendly too. If you haven't been there and love food. You can't go wrong.

Theresa N.

Yelp
My family was looking for lunch after the kid's softball games that would have something the kids would like as well as a meat and 3 for us adults. We were not disappointed! My husband said it was just like food his mom would have made! Everyone ate their fill and thoroughly loved their choices! The staff was very sweet & took good care of us.

Yelp
Tried this place out to go today and was really disappointed in the food. I got the fried chicken with mash potatoes, greens and my husband got the chicken fried steak with mac&cheese and green beans. The mashed potatoes were waters, no gravy on top, the chicken had zero flavor aa if it no seasoning at all. The best part of my meal was the greens. My husband said his stuff had no flavor it all just tasted the same. Portion size to price ratio is more on the small side This place is close to our place but we will not be coming back here again.

Yelp
Friendly staff and great home cooked food!! If you are in the Middle TN are I Highly recommend stopping by!!!

Yelp
I can count on getting a square deal at Jeff's; plentiful portions, comfortable surroundings, just good, good comfort food at a decent price. The menu changes daily with set sides accompanied by changing daily specials. Actually, since I've moved out of town, Jeff's has been on my mind and I'm thinking it's about time for a visit the next time I'm in the Boro!

Yelp
My favorite soul food in town. The pork steak and the hot water corn bread heal my soul
google avatar

Ron S.

Yelp
Very average meats and sides. They were also luke warm. I wouldn't recommend this place.
google avatar

Angel B.

Yelp
The food was cold - I ordered b b que chicken and it was cold as if I was just removed from the refrigerator. The black eyes peas were also cold and my fresh made yeast biscuit was the size of a saucer flat donut and was not cooked completely the coke cola was amazing. My daughter ordered fried chicken which was also cold to the touch and taste.. The Lima beans were also cold. The best part of her meal was the sprite. The owner had the audacity to mention how great the prices are and I stated the prices are not the issue. I never leave an eating establishment without a 15% or more tip but today I left nothing. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Bradley B.

Yelp
The chicken fried steak with sawmill gravy, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, and green beans were amazing. The Chess pie was rich, creamy, with a flaky crust that was to die for. This was amazing southern home cooking. I regret that I only have one stomach.

Chai W.

Yelp
Family owner and operated. Delicious southern soil cooking. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I think I just found my go to lunch spot! I ordered the meat + 3 and everything was SO good. The baked chicken fell right off the bone (into my mouth). Delicious mashed potatoes, dressing, and Mac n cheese. The best part is that it's super quick to get in and out so it's perfect for those fast lunch breaks between class. Highly recommend, great portions and very reasonably priced.

Yelp
We ate here three times before we wrote the review. Each time the food was cold. Each time we told the staff. Each time they said that they have never been told that the food was cold. We had them get us hot food. Instead they put the food in the microwave. The fried chicken is decent. The catfish is good. The service is poor. The communication is worse. They charge a lot for getting little.

Marina T.

Yelp
Classic home cooked southern food! Baked chicken was done just right moist but not greasy. And the brisket was smoky and tender!

John K.

Yelp
I have eaten at Jeff's for years. It is the best meat and three in Rutherford County. I usually go on Tuesday when they have all you can eat catfish. It is not uncommon for me to return on Thursday or Friday. Jeff and his brother Jimi are always very friendly and the food is delicious.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
We tried Jeff's for the first time tonight. Wow! Why haven't we been here before now? The food was excellent! My wife had the fried chicken and she said it was the best she's ever had. And the mashed potatoes...so good! I had the chicken and dressing which was so yummy. And the hot water cornbread was excellent! Very few places serve that anymore so it was a nice surprise. We cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
One of the mid state's must stops for soul food and traditional southern cooking. Located in what was once a grocery store to serve African American customers, Jeff's is a local institution where neighborhood regulars, construction crews, suits and secretaries can be found on any given day. I love the mix of people. And there is always a mix of veggies, meats and desserts. My you can't miss items include the fried chicken, the catfish, the meatloaf and the pork bbq. Fav sides include fried apples, cornbread dressing, greens, pintos, mac-n-cheese. Everyone seems to love the mashed potatoes and gravy--brown or white, your choice. Breads include fresh yeast rolls, cornbread and hoe cakes. Desserts are killer here: red velvet cake and chess pie are musts. Don't ask just get it. Food is served cafeteria style so get in line and make your choices. Stay as long as you like except on Sundays when it can be busy busy. Everything is available for take out too. You can call ahead, which helps at busy times.

Yelp
Probably my two favorite places to dine are BBQ and good old home cooking spots, and this place meets both. Saw a review of Jeff's Family Friendly Restaurant and knew where I was having lunch today. This place is the definition of "home cooking" where you walk the line, pick from 12+ different meat options, 17+ sides, 3 different bread choices, dessert, drink, and then sit down and enjoy. I opted for half-BBQ Chicken with mashed potatoes and white gravy, macaroni and cheese, and a griddle cake. This was a huge lunch but before I knew it I had eaten it all. The chicken was done perfectly and the sweet BBQ sauce was really good. The sides were plentiful and delicious and could tell they were made from scratch, and the griddle cake was a real treat! Overall this place serves up a delicious meal in a clean and comfortable atmosphere. The folks here are welcoming and provided great service...HIGHLY RECOMMEND this spot!

Yelp
Great home cooking! Great atmosphere. We actually came in because we loved Jimi's response to reviews. He didn't disappoint. We will be coming back for the food and the great employees!!

Yelp
Maaaaaaan, I want to love this place because I walked in and it smelled so good, but my food just didn't taste like the yummy smells in my nostrils. Full disclosure: it was take-out and my food had been ready 15 minutes before I got there but...the fish was crispy but 1/3 was just the breading--now, the breading was crunchy, but, where's Nemo? My okra was sitting in a pool of grease and that chess pie, my FAVORITE pie, had this weird, not good, flavor that I took 2 bites of (one was to make sure my taster was tasting what it was tasting) but my tastebuds said "Nah". It may be a whole different experience though if I stay and eat so I'm gonna give this place another shot, for sure.

Yelp
Visited today by mistake, was looking for a different SF restaurant that starts with a J. Couldn't remember the name so since we were there we gave this place another try. Boy was it a mistake and a waste of another $28. I'm going to leave it at that except that the green beans were over cooked, no seasoning. The Meatloaf was bland. The chicken and dressing was slaughtered with BROWN GRAVY! Not giblet gravy with the egg and pieces of chicken in it. It was like it was left over gravy from breakfast for the biscuits. They and Jesus only knows what that was they called hot water bread. Couldn't tell if it was cornmeal or what! YUCK! The turnip greens and sweet potatoes were just okay. This is all only my opinion, but it left me wondering. Who told these ppl they had the Gift to cook for other ppl? I hope this helps someone. I should have found these reviews before I took a 1st or 2nd shot. I'm going to pray that in the future they find better cooks. But I'll never know bc IWBB. May you be Blessed.

Yelp
Delivery was early, food was hot, & it was delivered just like I requested. Our meals from Jeff's was delicious! Wonderful experience!!!
google avatar

Kate D.

Yelp
WOW what a variety of comfort food and desserts they offer every day! Always fresh and hot. I have tried many of their main courses and I haven't found one yet that I would not get again.

Janet J.

Yelp
Our first experience at Jeff's. We arrived at around 1pm. It is cafeteria style. The food did not look that fresh. The vegetables were not hot, barely warm. My bbq ribs were very good. My husband's fried chicken was ok. It was pretty pricey for the portions.

Natalie L.

Yelp
My first time visiting Jeff's Family Friendly Restaurant. I must say it was quite a tasty experience. I had the fried chicken, green beans, and turnip greens and corn bread. The vegetables were seasoned just right and so was the chicken. I also had a slice of pound cake and the flavor was on point, however, it was a little dry and could have been from sitting too long. At any rate, I will definitely be going back.

Terry H.

Yelp
Food is so delicious and the most friendly staff! Sweet tea so sweet it hurts your teeth!

Yelp
Came for lunch on the way to the famous stones river battle grounds. This is a must stop if you are in the area. Without the help of yelp I wouldn't have found it. Traditional southern comfort food. Must Haves : Walnut chocolate chip pie! The best pie I have ever had!!! It's like a warm buttery chocolate chip cookie with more butter. - Order the fried chicken it won't disappoint!
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Jeff's is incredible! We have never eaten a meal here that was not completely satisfying. The bbq chicken and the country fried steak are staples of the establishment. If you have the opportunity try the Cajun chicken and the Salmon cakes. There are so many amazing sides that you won't be able to try. Yams, greens, potatoes and gravy, dressing, just to start. Desserts here are on a whole different level. The signature family recipe pound cake is phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and eat at Jeff's.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
This place is delicious, reliable, heavy home cooking. We wanted a meat and three and Jeff's delivered and then some! Lots of choices. We chose brisket, fried chicken, mac, green beans, fried okra, creamed corn, and the best lemonade I've had in a long time. Sadly did not have room for their desserts...but we'll be back. It's a family affair - Jeff's mom, dad, and brother all stopped by to check on us. Very, very kind people. Did not buy any Jesus swag, but could have.

Ann P.

Yelp
Visit 2 weeks ago. The meat entree was cold (smothered port cutlet). In fact, the gravy on top was very thick and separating. The fried okra and corn were too cold to eat. The mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes were relatively warm and tasty. We entered not long after the restaurant opened and therefore the dishes may not have had time to heat properly - poor planning. I don't think the dishes were fresh and possibly prepared in a considerable time frame before opening. There was hardly anyone there when we arrived but by the time, we left the carryout order patrons were standing and hovering around the tables of people trying to eat. There was nothing exceptional or even satisfying about the food.
google avatar

Dave W.

Yelp
This restaurant is your basic Meat and three found throughout the South. All home-cooked food mostly seasoned to please everyone at a very reasonable price. The food was fresh and hot and served cafeteria style and always with a smile. So if you're out on this side of town and looking for home cook meal this is your place.
google avatar

Crystal B.

Yelp
Daaaaang! This place is some serious, no nonsense, down home, southern cooking done RIGHT! There are a couple of other similar type restaurants in the area that get rave reviews all the time. We tried them first and we were so disappointed. I honestly don't know why they get so much praise when Jeff's is everything you'll ever want in a Meat & 3 soul food restaurant. It's the best in the Boro...hands down!
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
The food tasted like it was made last week. None of us could eat our food. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made with old milk that had gone sour. We will not be back.
google avatar

Brad J.

Yelp
A place to try!!! Different from everywhere else in murfreesboro... soul food Cornbread is the main motive
google avatar

Jaime H.

Yelp
Jeff's Family Restaurant might be Murfreesboro's best kept secret. I love a good meat and three and this place did not disappoint. I had the cajun chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and mac n cheese. My husband got the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, and hash brown casserole. Neither of us could finish our plates. The portions are generous enough that we may consider sharing one meal next time. I wish I'd saved room for dessert because their desserts looked soooo good!! Their staff is super nice also. Can't wait to return.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Great southern home cooking!!! Terrific service! Love the ribs and the pork shoulders! And those pies are to die for! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Had an Amazing Adventure in this hidden jewel of a down home cooking restaurant! Let me start by saying the sweet potatoes and green beans were my favorite, as I am currently fighting cancer and eat very seldom, I found this so satisfying! My wife and daughter both loved the Cajun Catfish and the assortment of gravy's with different sides. Thank You Jeff's for a marvelous experience! We will be back.

John M.

Yelp
What a great experience! This family counter-style restaurant offers some of the best southern soul-food I've ever eaten. Fried chicken, greens, pinto beans, ribs, sweet potato...every bit of it made from scratch. The ambiance is just as southern with the Ten Commandments hanging stoutly on the wall next to a sign that says "Family Gathers Here". The music was a cross between classical and jazz and whatever you call that soothing big orchestra sound. Ask for Mattie. She's the lady in the know. Parents, here's a testament to the food: two teenage girls...cleared their plates! Helpful tip: this is a local favorite among the Sunday church crowds.
google avatar

Jimmie P.

Yelp
Excellent southern cooking, friendly staff, and clean/comfortable restaurant! Always on air list when we are in town.

Melissa R.

Yelp
We ordered a full caramel cake for a birthday party. It had already tipped over in the box before it was picked up and the icing was falling off. Once cut, we found the bottom layer was completely burnt and black. The other 3 layers were overcooked and completely dried out. We were all shocked that this cake was allowed to be sold. Huge disappointment.

Randy I.

Yelp
Jeff's if a great place for lunch. The people are super-nice and the portions are large (perhaps too large?). Jeff and his family really make you feel at home. Go to Jeff's, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Jami J.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed the hot water cornbread, chitterlings, and fried chicken. The peach cobbler had an acidic after taste. Definitely planning to visit again.

Yelp
One of the better bbqs I have had in a while. It is a humble establishment. It is a family run place. People are very nice and hard-working. We were on the road and this food turned our mood around.
