"West Village: It’s the end of an era for Jekyll and Hyde, the Halloween-themed bar that filed for bankruptcy last year over $7.5 million owed to creditors and another $1.5 million in unpaid rent. The bar with its own Wikipedia page shuttered in June 2022, and its liquor license was suspended last month, according to a notice posted on the front door by the State Liquor Authority; Google now lists the business as permanently closed." - Luke Fortney

One of the worst NYC experiences you could have. Waited over 3 hours in line for a 5 minute experience. The line literally wrapped around the building with no management whatsoever. Bought an 8pm time slot and didn’t enter the experience until 10:50. There were people on line with tickets for later times ahead of us. The venue scanned all tickets when you were still 2 hours from the door ensuring you would be unable to be refunded. The experience itself was terrible…. A bunch of animatronics and maybe 2 actors throughout the “haunted asylum”. Please stay away and don’t waste your money. The 5 star reviews must be fake because even if the waiting experience was better there is no way anyone could give this more than two stars. Save your money and patience for something more worth while.

Very short, wish it was longer. I enjoyed the jello shot in the syringe. The actors tried but I’ve been to a scarier house before

The Asylum was great and I wish it was longer. I felt like the actors did a great job, this one girl even chased me into the other room! ha! The only thing I had a problem with is how it's organized entering the asylum, me and my boyfriend were definitely scammed into buying the immediate access tickets and paying more for no real perks. The immediate access tickets DID NOT give us immediate access. When we arrived on time for our 8:30 slot we STILL had to get in line, which they told us was for the Immediate Access ticket holders. The line next to us was for regular tickets. The woman at the door was basically letting a group from each line one at a time. She even told the other guy working there in front of us and he told her she can't be letting the regular ticket holders in front of the immediate access ticket holders but she said she didn't care, it was all for the right scare she said and the Right experience for everyone. So they were letting people in the regular ticket line inside that even just got there while all of us immediate access people had to watch. We all wasted an extra $20 for what?? Me and my boyfriend luckily were at the top of the line but I felt bad for all the immediate access people behind us. They SHOULD be letting only the immediate access people in first for their time slot and and then the regular ticket holders afterwards. Just buy the regular tickets. It's definitely a scam. Wish I could get my $40 I paid extra back for both tickets I paid for.

I bought tickets for my friend and I for a 7:00 pm slot and did not go in until 10:30 pm. We waited over three hours in line, since they don’t give refunds. Asked the guy in the front why we were not being let in it we have a reservation and he said “time doesn’t matter”. If that’s the case, why even let us choose a time. The actual haunted house was so short, but the actors did a good job. But, overall huge pass.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. i bought 4 tickets for “immediate access” and i had to wait over an hour to get in, the time of your reservation does not matter. The regular ticket had more than 300 people waiting in line to get in. The hunted house experience is a joke, small room and just computer noises and less than 5 MINUTES. So you’ll make a line to get in and all you get is a dark room with computer noises. Again, do not waste your money and time. WORST HALLOWEEN EXPERIENCE.

It's a joke. You buy a ticket for a specified time at three price tiers, but when you arrive it makes no difference what time your ticket was for. You line up in one of three lines for the ticket tier you bought. The longest being the lowest price tier that wraps around the block and doesn't move. While standing in that giant line you can see all the customers who exit. Their reviews being "it's super short", and "lasted 5 minutes". Spoke with others who said they had been waiting 2 hours already and weren't even close to the entrance. Another who said they waited an hour despite paying for the higher tier ticket which allows you to "skip" the line. I waited 45 minutes and maybe moved 5% of the length of the line before leaving. The scariest thing about this is how many people are being scammed year after year. Save your money and just talk to people waiting in line in the cold rain, their stories will frighten you more.

I just want to say..WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY! I went last night. My ticket was for 8pm, but mind you I got there around 8:15 because I had to look for parking extra like 70 bucks because parking sucks in NY. Next the line was around the block. You would think WOW this must be really good since there’s so many people, but no. I waited in the line for 4 hours. They sold so many tickets on their website, but didn’t know how to manage such a crowd and people just come in whatever time they want to come. SO DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME buying a time slot. There’s literally like 100 people per time slot. It’s 35 dollars for like an 5-8 min walk. No matter how much you walk slow, it’s not worth it. Having people wait that long just to get into an 8 mins haunted house ( you guys need to work on lowering the prices and making it actually scary). Don’t bother going on a weekend, but if you do want to go see it just be on the line around 6pm because by that time there’s already people waiting to go into the haunted house by 7pm. I hope my review helps other people not to buy from this place again.

This was my first time there tonight and omg. It was great. I'm still shaking from how scary it was. The haunted asylum was fun, affordable, and totally creepy. The wait time to get in was reasonable and the staff was amazing. There were plenty of live actors, plenty of tools and props to scare you. Trust me, you won't regret going to the asylum.
