Family-Owned, Bay Area Brand Jelly Belly Sold to Chicago Candy Company Ferrara - Eater SF

"Jelly Belly, the Fairfield-based jelly bean company that has hosted many local elementary school children for candy-making factory tours, has sold, the Mercury News reports. The company has long been a family-owned operation since its founding in 1896, but now the Rowland family has accepted an offer from Ferrara Candy Company, which produces candies such as Nerds, Gobstoppers, and Sweetarts, among others." - Dianne de Guzman

Childhood core memory unlocked from field trips here as a kid. Perfect place to take the family and kids from out of town. They have self guided tours that are $8 adults and $4 for kids (4-17). The self guided tours are nice because you can go at your own pace. They have limited guided tours and times that you can check online. You receive a hat and a bag of 20 jelly beans. No eating or drinking during the tour and it comes with a train ride to the museum across the parking lot which is also walking distance. They also have some good sales and sell chocolate and fudge too! They have an event space upstairs, I’ve attended an 18th birthday here but you supply your own food. As well as a chocolate and wine tasting too. They have a cafe that makes it perfect for lunch with cafeteria style food and jelly bean shaped burgers and items! Chicken nuggets, pizza, ice cream, nachos, etc! Parking is easy as there is a large lot. My other nephew didn’t get to join so we’re hoping to take him, can’t wait to go back!

I took my kids back to the Jelly Belly Factory a few weeks ago, and we still had a great time. They’ve changed things a bit—there’s no longer live candy production to watch. Instead, the tour is now self-guided with videos showing how the jelly beans are made. It’s not quite as cool as seeing the process live, but still fun and informative. We stopped and had lunch st the Cafe. The food is pretty good and the staff were extremely helpful. We used to go here a lot when the kids were younger and we've always had a great time. Things did change a lot but of course, we still love the jelly beans—can’t leave without grabbing a few bags.

Very clean yet if children are around VERY LOUD. I felt like the workers were in our way as we were trying to get specific beans from the dispensers. I think they should wait for people to be through. One mother let their small children run amuck and get whatever they wanted (please don't do this Moms!!! It's rude) so the kids were screaming, spilling beans everywhere and crying because they didn't have any patience. 🙄 The cashier was pretty annoyed and literally threw our stuff in the bag with a huff. I thought we were pretty well behaved (42 & 74) so unfortunately she passed the attitude onto our bill. This place has fudge and chocolates and more flavors of jelly bellies you ever thought. The museum is neat but it should be called the candy corn museum as that's where this all started. Bathrooms are extremely clean which was nice since we were weary travelers. Would like to go again.

Absolutely fun, kid friendly experience. Fascinating company history and even more fascinating production techniques. The museum across the parking lot has many of the older machinery on display. Humungeous selection of Jelly Belly for purchase....remember to pick up a bag jelly belly rejects!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary by purchasing the wine and chocolate tasting. 6 tastings and pairings for $25 + taxes. Locally sourced wines and candies made on-site. Afterwards you can purchase the wine you've tasted. I recommend this for homies, lovers and friends. Even the kids have a sparkling cider tasting with the chocolate for underage. Emmie I think her name is. She was great great great. Great experience.

Went to the jelly belly story to do their tour. The store was nice with lots of fun things for the kids to look at. The little train that takes you from the store to the museum was fun. I recommend that if you go get a candy apple. It was amazing.

My visit to the Jelly Belly Factory & Museum in Fairfield, CA was absolutely delightful and a must for anyone with a sweet tooth—or even just a curious spirit! 🍬 Incredible Flavor Variety From classic favorites to quirky, adventurous blends, the range of jellybeans is astounding. You’ll spot everything from cherry cola and buttered popcorn to cinnamon and even unconventional flavors like toasted marshmallow or mojito. We couldn’t resist stocking up on fun and rare ones—homemade favorites straight off the flavor conveyor! 🏭 Fascinating Factory Tour The factory tour was entertaining and informative. We got to watch the bean-making process from start to finish: how raw ingredients are mixed, beans are coated and polished, flavors are layered on, and candies are hand-packed. Seeing the giant tumbler machines and hearing stories about Jelly Belly’s history added an engaging, educational twist. Plus, the aroma wafting through the air was heavenly. 🛍️ Unique Shopping Experience The retail store doubled as a flavor playground! We sampled dozens of jellybeans—many flavors aren’t available online—and created custom mix bags. It was a fun, interactive shopping spree that made the visit feel personalized and memorable.

Best place in the world. I would recommend going on tour there. I'm going through the museum. Jelly beans are the best and everybody there was very nice. Great atmosphere and very kid friendly and I would recommend going on the train ride. We had a blast
