"A mecca for fans of fish and seafood, Jellyfish proposes a set menu comprising five, six or seven courses, with the option to upgrade. The cuisine is modern, innovative and surprising at every turn. Emphasis is placed on premium-quality ingredients as, for example, in the wonderful Spessart trout Steckerlfisch, which is charcoal-grilled, glazed with BBQ sauce and accompanied by marinated red cabbage, pickled plum and a marigold gel with citrus notes. The set menu can be paired with wine or appealing alcoholic-free alternatives. As for the setting, the restaurant, located in the Schanzenviertel, has a pleasingly minimalist interior with soft lighting and background music. Adding to the experience is the attentive and knowledgeable team, who also have spot-on wine recommendations up their sleeve – the range of Champagnes and German Rieslings is especially worth exploring. Fantastic set bistro menu at lunchtime Sat-Sun. Tip: A number of food items can be purchased to take home." - Michelin Inspector

How MICHELIN Guide Chefs are Making Magic with Lemons and Champagne

"Currently at the helm of his One MICHELIN Star restaurant Jellyfish in Hamburg, Germany, Chef Stefan Fäth previously worked for a cruise ship that sailed around the world. Fäth recalls meals in Thailand and India that he simply loved, and thus infused Thai flavor into his lemon dish. 'The base is like a French lobster bisque and then we add spices and aromatics from Thai cuisine—Kaffir lime, lemon crust, a little bit of curry paste for fresh flavor,' he shares. 'The citrus adds the lightness; we use no cream, just coconut milk so it’s still rich but fresh.' There’s also mango for sweetness and fried red shrimp with herbs like coriander and a topping of 'caviar' citrus from the finger lime." - Jillian Dara

3 Best Day Trips from Berlin to Hamburg, Leipzig, and Potsdam | Condé Nast Traveler

"Sure, you can (and should) sample a traditional fischbrötchen , or fish sandwich, from one of the ubiquitous stalls near Hamburg’s old port; but for something a bit more modern, Jellyfish offers up intricately composed seafood dishes with sustainably caught fish. This sparsely decorated restaurant, located in the Sternschanze district west of Aussenalster lake, got its first Michelin star in 2018; and in March 2018, it was named Germany’s top fish restaurant by German food magazine Der Feinschmecker ." - Liz Humphreys

A Culinary Masterpiece – A Must-Visit in Hamburg! Dining at Jellyfish Hamburg was an unforgettable experience. The 7-course tasting menu was a symphony of flavors, textures, and creativity — each dish beautifully presented and thoughtfully composed. From the first bite to the last, the progression of courses showcased the chef’s exceptional talent and deep respect for seasonal ingredients. What truly elevated the evening was the non-alcoholic pairing. Far from an afterthought, it was innovative, bold, and perfectly matched to each course. From fermented infusions to botanical blends, every drink was a revelation — enhancing the dishes in ways I didn’t think possible without wine. I highly recommend opting for it, if it is a workday the next day — it’s a refreshing and inspiring alternative that deserves just as much praise.

Great „young chef“ restaurant with 1 star. We went for a Sunday lunch menu and had a wonderful time. Excellent food. Fantastic service team with an outstanding sommelier. Very relaxed atmosphere to feel at home. Trout was fantastic, the venison from another planet. The white chocolate mousse excellent. The lentil soup was super delicious. Very large wine selection.

Great Art does not arise from the desire to be everybody’s darling. Without any doubt this evening has been a wonderful experience, although all three of us had our moments where getting the message was kind of challenging. Apple and Peach wine in the wine pairing was a fearless approach that definitely accepted to cause some irritation. Both did make sense with the corresponding dish, but at least I was unable to find a common ground and become best friends with this selection.

Amazing pairing non-alcohol and food . Very Good taste cousine. It's worth to visit. Restaurant with 1 star Michelin.

Beautiful food in a casual setting. The restaurant is really small so you should definitely reserve a table before coming. Staff is friendly and helpful, not too intruding into the private space of the guests. It's a seafood restaurant but there are many meat options and also vegan ones. Their food is pretty good, but also not too spectacular. The pasta seems tobe homemade and super delicious - chewy and comforting. The bread and whatever the dipping sauce/cheese was amazing. For a seafood restaurant, I expected the salmon to be better. It was a tiny bit too dry and needs more seasoning when I was there. The Parmesan foam looks nice, but doesn't really contribute much to the flavor of the dishes. Oh, and high praise to the silverware!

Google
The overall experience is worth of the one Michelin star the restaurant has. The overall tasting menu was very good and overall it was a nice experience thanks to the service. The only “complaint” i would have is that the “surprises” at the beginning are a bit too strong in terms of flavor vs what is coming next. I would like expect that the flavors to go higher as we progress through the menu but it was not the case. I would still recommend visiting when in Hamburg!

AMAZING! INCREDIBLE! HEAVEN! MICHELIN STAR DINING EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER! I have had the pleasure of dining twice at Jellyfish and both times have blown me away. This is a dining experience not to be missed! A young team have found a way to offer a Michelin star dining experience in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The dress code is casual, the customers from all walks of life and the food is to die for. Every mouthful hits the tastebuds in a fantastic way. The food is exquisite! This is an adventure, it is ART on a plate and the food exceeds your expectations. We celebrated my birthday and my sister-in-laws 40th. The memories created will not be forgotten. An amazing experience and highly recommend treating yourselves to a little bit of heaven. The staff are great! - friendly and very knowledgable. The chefs come out and introduce each course so you feel a connection to the kitchen. If you want a dining experience you will never forget Jellyfish is the restaurant for you! :-)

Google
I can highly recommend the lunch they offer on weekends. Three courses for a great price. We had such a wonderful meal here that makes us want to come back for their entire tasting menu! We both were stunned by their plating - everything just looked wonderful.

Yelp
It changed my mind to German cooking, very delicate and tasty. All the foods are fresh, and as beautiful as art works. Nice experience.

Yelp
We found it quite pricey for the quality on offer, even if the presentation was well executed. Seating is uncomfortably hard and the tables feel cramped, with people bumping into you every now and then. There are quite a few bad tables in the room. Also, be warned that portion sizes are limited even for a 7-course menu ... don't arrive hungry. Our visit was a few months ago -- surprised Jellyfish was awarded a Michelin Star, I could only see that for the food presentation, neither taste nor ambience.

Yelp
This fish restaurant is one of the best recent discoveries in Hamburg. Not the cheapest experience you can make, but everyone who has been there will agree, that this is fish at it's best. Read more: http://staydine.com/12ssv8t

Yelp
It might sound strange, but this is the first real good fish-restaurant I have found around the great harbor of Hamburg. It's a wee bit posh, but it's not overdone. It's a wee bit expensive, but that has a solid reason in the quality of the food they buy. It has great service, surprising seafood from sustainable fishing. The recipes are not at all traditional Hamburg-style (better don't ask for Rollmöpse), but some dishes do part from that base. All I have tried at Jellyfish was exquisite. They also have a very good selection of wines - but beware, they skip the usual low budget option. So you should first consider if you are in the lucky position where you can put down a hundred something Euro for an intimate dinner for two. If that is so this is the place.
