I visited this spot today. It’s a little tucked away, but it has a cool vibe and nice aesthetics. Unfortunately, my experience took a serious turn. I ordered a $16 hot dog that came with a surprise—a metal pellet embedded in it. I ended up chipping part of my tooth. When I raised the issue, the manager came out with the person who prepares the food. Their exact words: “We were looking for that piece.” They offered me a few complimentary drinks and replaced the hot dog. But when I closed my tab, they charged me for every single drink, including the ones they had offered to make amends. So in the end, the only thing they did was replace the original hot dog—after it chipped my tooth. Disappointed is an understatement. A gesture of goodwill turned into a confusing bill. I hope they take food safety and customer care more seriously moving forward.

Heaven on earth! Our favorite upper bay spot on the eastern shore to boat to. Jelleefish is now running a complimentary water taxi to get you to the tiki bar…so even if you are anchored out in the creek, you can still get to the fun. Kids love the playground, the jump pad, and the newly added swings. Food is great! The burger easily feeds two people. Jerk chicken tenders (famous at Tiki Lee’s) are amazing. We always go behind the tiki bar and back into the sandy beach, lots of room for boats now that the dedicated swimming area is gone.

When we arrived, we were immediately captivated by the beautiful and gorgeous ambiance. The decor was lovely, and the swings were a great addition for the kids to play on. Now, let’s talk about the drinks. They were okay, but I miss the fresh squeeze crushes they used to offer. It’s time-consuming, but if you’re not going to make a true orange crush, don’t put it on your menu. Next, we decided to get a margarita. Unfortunately, it was made wrong. It tasted like there was some type of licorice in it, and they didn’t even add salt or sugar to the rim, which is the best part of a margarita. They remade it, but this time, it was too much lime juice. The bartenders clearly did not know how to make drinks. Overall, the bartending skills need improvement. They don’t shake the margaritas, and they seem to be purposely ignoring customers who are standing there. But aside from that, the atmosphere was beautiful, and I’ll definitely be back again this summer.

We stopped on a Sunday. The band was good. Happy people were dancing. It was a happy beachy vibe. The beach is pebbly. I'd go back if in the area.

Atmosphere 10/10. We did not get food. Their drinks were okay. The kids loved being able to swim.

Good Docking! Beautiful spot with lots of space to play. The bar has a good feel and great view of the boats coming and going. Next time I will try the food.

Food and drinks were decent, the service was inattentive at best. We were ignored, our order was wrong and the server never came back to our table to see if we wanted anything else ( another drink, desert, etc). They won't be around long if they don't fix this problem. The entertainment was good.

This review is for FairLee's Restaurant & Bar which I believe has recently taken over this location and appears to have totally redone the whole facility. FairLee's Restaurant & Bar was a very pleasant surprise. It is a fantastic remote location with outstanding views of the Chesapeake Bay. There is both indoor and outdoor seating even adirondack chairs facing the water. We sat at the inside bar. We ordered Orange Crush drinks. The barback, William, told us about several Crush drinks not on the menu. We then ordered a Pineapple Crush and a Blueberry Crush. They were outstanding. I would recommend asking if they have any drinks that are not on the menu. Our waitress, Emma, was extremely pleasant and friendly. The service was impeccable. The food menu is a little limited but everything we got was very good, large portions, and at a very fair price. The smashburger was huge (enough for two people) and made the old fashioned way with all beef patties (no filler detected). The Chicken Tenders were also enough for two people to share. They were very large and several choices of dipping sauces. There was a very good three piece rock cover band playing, Juke Box Trio, when we arrived that was very talented and not too loud. The only negatives were that the chairs were a little uncomfortable after awhile and bar needs a foot rail at the bottom of it. This bar/restaurant is a real hidden gem in Kent County. We will be back again soon.

Love this place! Came here after the Savage Race back September. Short walk around the Marina from the lodge. Great drinks, people, and music! Come causal or in your beach attire--will feel comfortable in either. Service was quick and really friendly and welcoming. Plenty of seating options, and I mean you can either sit at the bar, on a chair swing, a round table, or a high chair right, which is all right on the beach! Fun place!

4 stars for the atmosphere, views and all the upgrades but mixed drinks are way too high and bottled beers 7 plus. Out pricing themselves for the customers coming from the western bay. Food is cooked up the hill carted to the beach and then sits in a glass warmer. Missing the mark at this early stage.

Jellyfish doesn't have food, per se, they do have a food truck. The foods served from the truck include Burnt Ends Sliders as well as Cheeseburger Sliders. They were very good. The servce was very timely. I drank a couple Coronas and my fiancee had two mixed drinks the Orange Punch. It is all set in a beach like environment, with boats coming and going constantly. Everyone was there to have fun, noone was there to judge anyone. So if you are looking to find somewhere to to run off to on a Saturday morning, this is the place!

Awesome summer fun! Always a good time at Jelly Fish Joel's. Live music on the beach is great.

Love this place and the people. Best party place on the bay. Food and venue match up to the people.

If you don't own a boat or don't know someone who does, Jellyfish Joel's Tiki Bar is probably one of the best kept secrets on the bay. From the Western side of the bay it's a lonnng haul by car all the way around the bay to get there. But if you're traveling by boat it's just a short trip right across the bay from Essex MD. Jelly Fish Joel's is situated inside the Mear's Great Oak Landing Marina complex on a peninsula along Fairlee Creek. During the summer months, it opens at 2pm and it has live music from 4-8pm every Friday for their sunset beach party. On Saturdays and Sundays they open at 11:00 and have live music all afternoon. The Tiki Bar itself serves cold beer, a full bar, and frozen drinks (don't miss their famous Run Runners, Pain n'de Ass's and Painkillers), while a separate tent is always there for fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit crushes. They also have a food wagon that serves up a variety of light bar food type snacks & sandwiches. Jellyfish Joel's is a favorite weekend anchorage on the upper Chesapeake Bay for hundreds of boaters every summer. You can tie-up to one of the marina's many floating slips if you want all the comforts of home, (power, water, and access to their spacious, immaculately kept, public bathrooms and showers). Or you can anchor right out in the protected Fairlee Creek waterway and use your dinghy or the free water taxi to get over to Jellyfish Joel's palm tree lined beach. Lest you think Jellyfish Joel's is just an adults only paradise, they also have a kids area just off the peninsula that has air filled water slides and slip & slides to keep your kids entertained for hours. And of course there's also the beach and the water for kids and adults alike to enjoy.

I was pretty disappointed with Jellyfish Joel's. They call themselves a tiki bar. Now, I've been to many tiki bars and part of the appeal is the tiki bar vibe some places created with cool tropical beachy decor that make you feel like you are on vacation. I expected as much from Jellyfish Joel's after hearing lots of hype about the place. But it's really nothing more than a big white party tent with a bar under it, a food truck, and a few painted picnic tables which all happen to be on a beach area. I did not get the cool tiki bar vibe at all, and there is not nearly enough seating if it were to get busy. It looks like many people tend to bring their own chairs ect. so I guess it's just more of a place to hang out on a beach that happens to have a bar? Even the beach isn't that nice. It's very pebbly and hurts your feet and seems to get deep pretty quick. Having said that, we came by boat and quite enjoyed anchoring in the far end of the cove in front of Jellyfish Joel's. The waters could not have been more calm and there is a thin pebble beach down in there that you can walk up to and look out the other side onto the bay. So while Fairlee Creek is great for bringing your boat to relax, if you are looking for a real tropical tiki bar feel, go to Tiki Lee's (by far the best tiki bar around), Sunset Cove, or even the Jetty.

I recently spent an entire weekend at Jellyfish Joel's and I have to tell you that I had one of the best times that I have had in a Long Time !!!. Not only were the Drinks Delicious & the service staff Top Notch, I felt like the they were open only for me. The weather was absolutely perfect, the crowd extremely friendly and fun to be with. I dined at Mangroves Restaurant and the food was Top Notch, they serve one of the very best Crab Cakes that I have ever had, full of meat and almost ready to fall apart from an. extreme lack of filler. Breakfast on Sunday morning was just as good and it was served by a Cheerful Wait Staff. I spent 25 years in the Hospitality Industry as a Chef and Restaurant Owner and these folks know what service and quality products along with a great time are all about. I recently read an article that listed Jellyfish Joel's as one of the top 17 Waterfront Bars in Maryland, in my mind they are Number1. I will be returning time and time again.
