Chaotic in the best way possible but I never felt unsafe. There are a lot of vendors who will try to get your attention, call out to you, or invite you to look at what they’re selling. Just be mindful and keep walking if you’re not interested. I usually just ignored it and was left alone. Trying to be polite and saying “no thank you” only invites more conversation. They speak Arabic, French, English, and Spanish, so switching languages won’t get you out of it.
There’s so much to do and see here. It’s full of life and energy, with tons of food stalls, juice stands, restaurants, and places to grab a drink. There’s music, street performers, and all kinds of entertainment everywhere you look. It’s also where I saw the most tourists in all the cities I visited.
You’ll see animals that people offer to take pictures with, but just keep in mind they may or may not be treated well. Still, the overall experience is unforgettable. Jemaa el-Fnaa really feels like the heart of Marrakech.
