Yelp
What better deal than going to an ice cream place after having dinner at a nearby Hotpot place. We picked Jenni's since it was open past 10pm on a Thursday evening in January 2023.
It was pretty crazy how the stars aligned and Washington DC had almost ideal weather in the dead of Winter. I found myself looking at Yelp to see what ice cream shops were open after filling up on Hotpot earlier that evening. We all decided on Jenni's. Since my friend decided to drive us around and paid for dinner that evening, I decided to return the favor and treated everyone in the group with ice cream. My experience here at Jenni's ice cream was pretty spiffy and quick. As soon as I saw the display case of ice cream assorted flavors, spot checked their variations of chocolate ice cream, I knew that was the one. We spent about 10-15 minutes here and it felt like it was quicker. I knew what I wanted and managed to snap up a pint of their dark chocolate concoctions that was as sinful eating it as it was cool and memorable to enjoy. The service here was friendly and good. You can never go wrong with happy employees in an ice cream parlor. For the most part though, the ice cream was great since I had mine at my hotel room while watching the late night local news, while my friends enjoyed theirs in the car before driving from the area. They said it was really good and I will agree with them.
The overall experience here at Jenni's Splendid Ice Cream parlor was decisively delicious and very cool. It was nice to see a side of the Washington DC suburbs here in Alexandria, VA. While my friends and I were there, it was past 9pm and it wasn't as busy as we thought it would be. We found parking nearby and walked a block or so to the shop. They had a limited assortment of ice cream flavors, but large enough to really have a rainbow selection of what most people do enjoy. I usually don't try any other flavors since chocolate is my preferred flavor of all time. The ice cream parlor itself is small in nature, but it does bring people together for the love of ice cream. I ended up purchasing the ice cream for my friends, as a nice gesture for thanking them for shuttling me around and for dinner that night. The prices here were on par with other ice cream shops around the country that I have frequented so far. And as such, the experience here at Jenni's Splendid Ice cream has basically got me thinking that this place is a hidden gem of the Alexandria, VA community. You can't go wrong with ice cream. Definitely recommended if you are in the area or just passing thru. Find your OG favorites here or find your new favorite. It's all good!
Jenni's Splendid Ice Cream parlor is located in Alexandria, VA. It's physical location is at 102 S Patrick Street, Alexandria. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. Cash is always king, but love those credit cards. The chocolate ice cream that I had was very good and it really did hit the spot while I was in the area for vacation. I was glad to have been here, especially when my friends and I were almost gonna call it a night when I mentioned when are we going to get ice cream? Then it came to past that night we ended up here and it was only a short drive away from where we were having dinner nearby. As far as parking goes, best bet would be street parking wherever it is available to be honest. Not sure of any other options that that. As far as public transportation, you can check if Alexandria has its own local public bus system or even if the DC metro comes down here. Of course, there's always the Uber and Lyft to get you here as soon as you are able to. They do have seating inside the store for those who want it, but at the same time, social distancing can mean eating inside or outside, depending on the store's current policies on the matter. Come on down, you be glad you did. Honestly, it's the hidden gem of the Alexandria community.
4.5 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the location and the service. 4.0 stars for the ice cream itself. 3.5 stars for the prices.
