Best Restaurants in the Domain in Austin | Eater Austin

"We all scream for ice cream, and this Domain spot brings Ohio’s creamy delights to Austin. Indulge in flavors like decadent Texas sheet cake, salty caramel, and brambleberry crisp in a cone or cup. Their seasonal lineup is ever-changing, but the buttercream birthday cake is a guaranteed sweet treat. New flavors this spring include Raspberry Rhubarb Delight, Citrus Glazed Pound Cake, and Tropical Bloom." - Darcie Duttweiler

Jeni’s is one of those places that makes you feel good the moment you step inside. The customer service was amazing the staff was warm, patient, and genuinely happy to walk us through the flavors and let us sample before deciding. The ice cream itself? Absolutely delicious. Creamy, smooth, and full of bold, unique flavors that taste as good as they sound. It’s clear they put thought into every flavor combination. If you’re at The Domain and craving something sweet, Jeni’s is worth the stop every single time.

Google
I visited Jeni’s Ice Cream for the first time while exploring a lively, bustling street — and it truly lived up to the buzz. The long queue outside caught my attention, and with the place looking so vibrant and inviting, I had to give it a try. The ice cream was smooth, rich, and full of unique flavors that felt both refreshing and comforting. Sitting on the street and enjoying it while soaking in the energy around made the whole experience even better. It's totally worth the wait!

Google
The ice cream is here are great, as evidenced by the continuous line out the door. The problem is there’s no seating. They’ve got enough seating inside for maybe eight or 10 people sitting on a bench. It would be nice if there was more seating inside or outside

Google
The best ice cream I've had. They have great flavors available and their cones are also good. Lovely people working here, felt very welcomed when I told them it's my first visit to Jeni's. I walked 5 minutes in the area from where I was to try this place and would recommend it to everyone to try it. 1 of the few places I would go out of my way to enjoy some delicious ice cream.

Ankita Gupta

Google
Premium quality ice creams and delicious waffles made in front of you. They have tons of flavors and all made with quality ingredients. You can try as many as you’d like before picking your favorite. It’s always an amazing experience to go to Jeni’s and try a new flavour each time.

Google
Ice cream was great. The combination of the lemon bar dairy free and the brambleberry was delicious. I loved how this place is environmentally mindful. I appreciate how they wash their scoops and how they use a non-plastic tiny spoons for taste test. The only downside was the warm air and the smell of oil and batter as they make the sugar cones right by the door. For sure, many don't mind the weird fusion of cool and warm air plus the smell, but me and my girls almost lost our appetite for ice cream because of it. It was really nauseating. I understand that it's a cookie dough theme or something, but I really hope that they don't make the sugar cone right at the door where we are patiently waiting in line. We almost left the area before even trying the ice cream.

Google
Loved the ice cream, crowded in weekends. Friendly staff, quite a queue expected. Flavors are good.Open until 8pm in the evening. They offer in cups and cones. Have a chill ice cream for the Summer.

Google
The staff gave us a thorough introduction and let us sample lots of ice cream flavors, which really helped us find the ones we liked. Super helpful and friendly! I love the vibe here — if you’re ever in the area, you’ve got to stop by for a scoop!

Yelp
Tip: GET THE GOOEY BUTTERCAKE! This ice cream shop was amazing. There was so many flavors that I've never seen before and they do things in "half scoops". So we got the gooey butter cake and 7 layer bar. The 7 layer bar was nice and kind of reminded me of a Girl Scout cookie a little bit with the caramel and coconut flavors. The gooey butter cake was my favorite. It had actual pieces of cake and you can taste the buttery sweetness. The buttercream birthday cake was another flavor that I really enjoyed. They do samples here too! So don't be scared to try some or the interesting flavors. The worker was very kind and welcoming. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Parking can be a nightmare because it's the domain, but Jeni's Ice Cream is worth the hassle! I will NEVER go back to any other ice cream as Jeni's tastes REAL with no synthetic aftertaste! So many flavors to choose from, but my favorites are brambleberry with oats, and sparkling cherry pie! While the pricing is on the higher end, it's worth the experience because the customer service is superb! They allow you to try the flavors they have in stock, and they are very knowledgeable! While the place tends to get busy / packed, there are plenty of days and times you can go to avoid the crowds / long wait times. All in all, I recommend!

Yelp
We love Jeni's ice cream. We didn't know there was a location at the Domain. We had the salty caramel and brown butter almond brittle in a waffle bowl. I had tried the salty caramel before and knew that I wanted to have it again.... It's so good. Upon sampling the bb almond brittle, I knew I had to have a scoop of it too. The wonderful smell of the waffle cones and bowls being made in house is absolutely amazing. I can't imagine just getting the tasty treats in a cup. In my opinion, eating the vessel that holds your ice cream is all a part of enjoying the experience. I highly recommend Jeni's.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious as always. One of my favorite places for ice cream. Great quality and great taste. What more could you want! Well ... I would love for the price to be cheaper, but that's just the market we live in. And since it's a Certified B Corporation, I really don't mind the premium price. I love supporting good companies. Honorable Mention: Jeni's stays open rather late, which comes in clutch when you have a late night sweet tooth
google avatar

Yelp
Don't be confused. Sometimes this place is called "ENI'S ICE CREAM" (see pic below:). Jeni's "Darkest Chocolate" is my favorite flavor in the universe. Had a sugar cone quad 1/2 scoops serving. Never enough. But better than the total solar eclipse we saw from Mt. Bonnell (with our new 500 friends with boom boxes and colorful drunken concert antics). Jeni's always shines! Eclipse or not. Sign me, David "Jeni, run away from your husband and marry my wife and me and live with us in ice cream heaven" M

Yelp
Amazing icecream at the domain! I love their flavors so much! The mint chip is limited edition but it is absolutely delicious! Always quick service. Kind of small inside but sometimes you will be able to find a seat inside. Love to sit outside of this location as well as the street is so nice!
google avatar

Leah L.

Yelp
Best way to beat the heat? Ice cream! I love the unique flavor combinations at Jeni's, they always have something new and fun to try. And their location in the domain is a great option to cool off after a long day of walking in this Texas heat and shopping. Parking is easy and free in the garages. I recommend downloading their app and scanning each order to earn points. Enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
I successfully avoided Jeni's for two nights while I was in town, but I was guided ever so gently after dinner my last night in Austin to partake in a helping of absolutely delicious ice cream. It wasn't cheap, but it was delicious. Lots of interesting flavors to choose from and the folks behind the counter were helpful. Yum!!
google avatar

Richy O.

Yelp
Their dark chocolate is delicious! Definitely recommend it's one of my fav dark chocolate ice cream places and the service was great and the place is nice inside.
google avatar

Kate Z.

Yelp
This Jeni's is not as spacious as the other ones, so on a busy day the lines are out the door and there's limited seating. In terms of ice cream flavors they do well to have a big variety, though they only have a few dairy free options at a time that they rotate through. I like trying the seasonal flavors, but their chocolate ones def hit the hardest. If you go with like 5 people, I highly recommend getting the flight, which is 10 scoops - 2pp! It's just $21 (a steal!)
google avatar

Neha G.

Yelp
It's good but not worth standing in long line that goes more than 30 mins. I would say best part is their location, people walking in domain after lunch/dinner can grab a quick ice cream but I didn't find any flavors to be that outstanding. Brambleberry crisp is my favorite of all the flavors I have tried. Salty caramel is very salty. One time I tried the waffle cone and found it to be very salty too.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
This place is definitely one of the best scoops shops in the Austin area. They have delicious classic flavors, as well as fun seasonal flavors. Their cones are perfectly delicious and my favorite order is in a cone bowl. Be prepared to spend a lot per scoop, but the quality and flavor will be worth it for an occasional treat.
google avatar

Dao T.

Yelp
This spot is the "spot" to get ice cream! Love all their flavors! We take all our out of townGuests and family here when they visit! My favorite is the Brambleberry Crisp & Wildberry Lavendar! Small location with limited seating but it's located on domain so you can walk around with your ice cream !
google avatar

Marianne F.

Yelp
Cute little ice cream shop! Perfect for the entire family. There definitely is a flavor here for everyone! I tried the buckeye frenzy and the Boston's creme pie. The Buckeye frenzy was a little too salty for my liking, I should have picked something else but the Boston creme pie was so so good and creamy I would recommend it! One thing my husband and I wish was a bit better, is the waffle cone structure, it's sooooo super thin that it kept breaking. I could barely pick it up and dip it into my ice cream, the pieces just broke each time. My poor husband hard to scarf his ice cream cone down fast because the ice cream wasn't holding inside the cone and it kept dripping through.
google avatar

Keshia R.

Yelp
My hubby and I were walking around The Domain and discovered this ice cream shop. Even though it was after 9pm it was still pretty hot. It was nice that they let us try as many samples as our heart desired. They also have non dairy flavors. The cone cup was really good. Their customer service was top notch and the ambiance is basic but cute. We will definitely be back to try more flavors.
google avatar

Anne M.

Yelp
Visited on a recommendation from a friend. I'm so glad I did! This is a small shop but they have three different ice cream filled cases to keep the crowds moving. I was able to sample a few options before deciding on a small bowl with dark chocolate and a salty peanut butter type flavor that were both amazing!! I don't usually enjoy chocolate ice cream but I would eat a pint of that!! I like that they give you a tiny piece of waffle on the side if you don't order a waffle cone or waffle bowl. The staff were ok for the time I needed to interact with them. Very reasonable on the prices too. Cute interior with some seating options if you want to get some A/c!
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Came here with a couple of friends and the ice cream was great. They allow sampling so be sure to try a couple flavors and choose the combo that you enjoy. I got the gooey butter cake and vanilla. The gooey butter cake was creamy, not too sweet, and had nice inclusions. Vanilla was just okay. Service was amazing. However, the venue is small, but cute, so be patient when they're busy! Only con is that it's pricey in comparison to other ice cream places and the location is in the domain, I suggest parking in Pink Garage, which is really close, or Red Garage if pink is full.
google avatar

Ted C.

Yelp
Jeni's ice creams are good with a variety of richly made traditional flavors as well as some of the more gourmet flavor concoctions that are more than just your basic chocolate chip; which is actually getting harder to find. I've had Jeni's before in other cities and so it wasn't the novelty that it seemed to be here. The warm weather definitely didn't hurt the demand but this scoop shop is definitely on the smaller side, 'line out the door, please close it behind you until the line moves kind of small.' Despite that the staff is definitely very friendly and maybe the line is so long because they'll happily let you try as many flavors as you'd like before you decide. I ended up getting their standard cone with Brambleberry and lemon as flavors. Good as I remembered.
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
So so good! We got the flight (10 scoops) and shared among six people. Costing around $3 and change per person, this is less than the price of one scoop . Go with a lot of friends!! Note that they do have limited seating. They also sell pints of ice cream if you wanna take some home Lemon bar Wildberry lavender Bramble berry crisp Sweet potato marshmallow brulee Coffee with cream and sugar Gooey butter cake Cookies in cream Green mint chip Honey vanilla bean Darkest chocolate The favorites for me were lavender and lemon!! Lavender is so fragrant and lemon has that extra sour part that I love
google avatar

Ramin A.

Yelp
Love that you can smell the fresh waffle cones being made from outside in the street. Service is excellent and the staff is eager to let you try different flavors. That being said they don't have a whole lot of flavors like you see at most ice cream shops. Being that they are on the busy side of the Domain it would be cool if they spruced up the interior to match the exterior vibes. Not many places to sit inside. It's cool though to grab a cone and walk around the Domain.
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
The Domain has a Jeni's!! I love Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream! Their regular flavors are amazing and they always have a few limited edition options. Recently we stopped by and I introduced my spouse to the magic of Jeni's. We each got three flavors in a waffle bowl. I ordered the wild berry lavender (always amazing), the blackout chocolate cake (OMG!!), and the brown butter almond brittle. Spouse ordered the Hot Toddy (spicy and lemony like a toddy), the blackout chocolate cake, and the bramble berry crisp (always a solid choice). Staff was very willing to let us try some different flavors, and we walked around with our ice cream afterwards as there is very little seating inside.
google avatar

Brianna W.

Yelp
Jeni's was so good! Fast moving line and able to snag a seat for 2. Such yummy flavors and lots of options. You can smell the waffle cone just walking down the sidewalk which draws you in! Loved the salted peanut butter chocolate flakes & gooey butter cake!
google avatar

Connie H.

Yelp
Breakfast, lunch or dinner? There's always room for ice cream- not just ANY ice cream but Jeni's Splendid darkest dark chocolate. How I love thee, let me count or not, how many times I can eat this ice cream
google avatar

Chastitie A.

Yelp
I don't know what more to say besides I'm addicted to this dang place. I can literally eat that ooey gooey flavor for dessert every day. I'm not going to lie, it's a little pricey, but I'll just deal with it. It's in a great location inside the domain where you can just take a walk after dinner, and sit and enjoy a tasty dessert.
google avatar

Yelp
Back again after a few years of stying away since we always default to Amy's. We like this place--it's just really, really pricey. After a mediocre dumpling experience with our friends next door, we came here with the kids for a sweet treat before unleashing them on the playground. Our kiddo was happy with something called double dutch (maybe?). One of us got half birthday cake (can't believe we're saying this--but too many sprinkles!) and half coffee (very creamy-n-light-n-good). The other one got half ooey gooey cake and half brambleberry crisp (best flavor of the evening). As we're said before, we love making this style of ice cream at home and are big fans of her flavor combinations, but for the price, we want the cone to be OVERFLOWING and it just isn't. The scoopers were really nice and did not balk at how many samples we requested, which was a lot. Maybe we'll be back in four more years! :)
google avatar

Filip S.

Yelp
Small ice cream shop with a very, very large selection of ice cream flavors. I came here on a weeknight and there was a line out of the door. Luckily, the line moved relatively quickly and soon we were served. The person helping us was friendly and patient. They offer folks to taste different flavors before ordering, and after trying a peanutty flavor, I decided to go with their seasonal berry ice cream. It was very yummy -- refreshing fruit flavor combined with richness of the dairy base. The waffle cone was nice too. What I was surprised by was the price: more than $10 for an ice cream! The store is very narrow, offering few small tables where folks can enjoy their dessert. Few more tables are available on the sidewalk in front of the store. The decor is simple inside is simple and covered in very bright light.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with Jeni's ice cream. I love how they are always adding new seasonal flavors because their original flavors are already so good. The ice cream consistency is so creamy (not icy, which I prefer), and I always get 2 scoops and that's a perfect amount for me! All the workers are super nice, and the overall branding is A1. Jeni's does ice cream flavors really well--that might seem like an obvious statement, but they usually have pretty classic or "normal" ingredients/flavors but the execution is on point. For example, coffee isn't just coffee--it's Inteligentsia coffee and tastes straight up like a latte. They also offer samples now, so even if you don't like anything you try, you can at least have confidence that you'll likely love what you sample.
google avatar

Yelp
We debated on a lot of dessert options in Domain and finally settled for Jenis, boy were we glad! We had heard the hype around the 'Ted Lasso biscuits with the boss' flavor when we came in and true to the rumors it was delicious! We also tried the Almond brittle and the bramble berry and they were super tasty! Our favorite was the brown butter almond brittle but I don't think they do any flavor injustice based on our tastings! There was a line out the door when we came in but it moved fast. Their inside seating is clean and well maintained, but you can grab a cone while you wander around Domain as well.
google avatar

Pearl G.

Yelp
High quality ice cream with a great selection of flavors. Shop is bright & cheery. Only downside is the price, but you're in the Domain & you're definitely getting what you pay for: superior ice cream. Although there was a line it moved pretty fast. Staff was attentive and friendly, easy check out process.
google avatar

Joy L.

Yelp
Jeni's strawberry buttermilk and brown butter almond brittle matches really well :) ) ! :) yummy
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
The ice cream here is delicious! Unique flavors can be found and each identifies specifics such as containing milk or eggs. I really enjoyed the Milkiest Chocolate and Wildberry Lavender. The jury is still out on Gooey Butter Cake. When I arrived, there were 5 people in front of me, but the wait wasn't long. There are three sections of identical ice cream, so I believe that helps with it. If you don't know what you want after seeing the ice cream 3 times, step out of line! ;)
google avatar

Sheila K.

Yelp
I can't be the only one who gets ice cream when it's cold haha I'm so glad to have tried this ice cream place! There was always a long line whenever I'd see it but when my coworker and I went, it was close to empty. It was also around 9:30pm on a weekday lol I got a scoop of Gooey Butter Cake and Brown Butter Almond Brittle since those two were apparently the most popular flavors according to the person helping us. I personally liked the gooey butter cake more than the brow butter almond brittle, everything on it just tasted so good! Definitely hit the spot! I didn't think I'd like it since I've never had cream cheese ice cream but you need to try it, it's good! The brown butter was ok, had a burnt taste to me but not bad. I'd be back for sure! Also, I think most of the ice cream are gluten-free.
google avatar

Destiny L.

Yelp
Stopped by for a scoop while walking my dog one night. I went in for the frose but they weren't selling it yet, so I tried the wedding cake and while frose is still my #1, wedding cake has taken place as #2. Service is always great and even with the lines that go out the door, they move quickly to get you in and out. Can't wait to go back and get my summer frose fix!
google avatar

Yelp
Ooo ice creaaamm!! Of all the 'must visit' I've cream parlours in Austin, this one literally has the most authentic and satisfying ice cream taste.. if you know what i mean. The flavours are top notch and this place literally never disappoints. And their buttery waffle cones, heavenly!!! You'll always find people waiting in line here, which clearly tells how good it is. So yeah, go satisfy your sweet tooth with a yum scoop :)
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Talk about a great stop on a 100+ degree in Austin! Soooo many flavors to choose from and you can't really go wrong with any. That almond brittle was so tasty along with the waffle cone. I also sampled the chocolate and lavender and both were delicious. They definitely use quality ingredients and the employees are so welcoming. Offering up samples of any flavor. The space is real cozy, so we ended up eating outside. No biggie, just had to eat before it melted lol.
google avatar

Sage O.

Yelp
Jeni's is some of the best ice cream you can get in town. Though it's not local- it did win over my heart because of the quality of the product and unique flavors in constant rotation. The staff is always so nice and helpful. I also love that Jeni's has metal tasting spoons #sustainable
google avatar

Narendra M.

Yelp
Ambiance:4/5 Ice cream: 4/5 Good selection of ice cream. Milky Chocolate is highly recommended. Amazing flavor with perfect combination of creaminess and chocolate. Coffee flavor exceeded my expectations and peanut butter was the surprise package of all. We were here for the first time and it was comfortable place to eat ice cream. Only thing which bother all of us was all the flavors are slightly too sweet. Chocolate and coffee flavors are comparatively less sweet hence we ordered.
google avatar

Vineet C.

Yelp
Do you want the best ice cream in the states? This is the spot. Jenis is becoming a chain for sure but I've had them in many different cities and it's still hands down the best ice cream. My go to flavors are brambleberry crisp and gooey butter cake. They are soooo yummy! Be warned though, it can be a bit pricey if you are trying to load up on flavors or getting a few pints. Inside seating at this location is a bit sparse but it's the domain so you kind of expect that.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Very delicious. The lady who works here also tells you a little fact about how the ice cream is made or what it's made of. Great service. Great ice cream. And really popular.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
The BEST ice cream EVER! The flavors are like an explosion in your mouth and it really is hard just to choose one favorite! The gooey cake is always a favorite, but they are all DELICIOUS. There are multiple locations now in Austin. The staff are always warm and cheerful and we have always had a great experience there!
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
I am absolutely shocked I had not written a yelp review on Jeni's. Jeni's is one of the best places to get ice cream in Austin. One of my most favorite ice cream flavors of all time is the Brambleberry Crisp. The streusel and the Brambleberry jam work so well together. And the best part about it is the Brambleberry Crisp is a routine flavor and not a rotating one. The wife loves the Wildberry Lavander, just the perfect amount of Lavander flavor where it isn't too overpowering but you can notice it with each bite. I decided to get the Pineapple Upside Down Cake during our most recent trip. It was good but I think I'll try something different next time. If you're in the mood for ice cream and in the Domain or within 10 min of it, I highly recommend Jeni's!

Lisa S.

Yelp
I have chocolate and caffeine allergies (so desert can be dangerous in many circumstances). I explained my situation to Louisa when I walked in, and even though the line was literally out the door on a busy Sunday night, she took the time to get fresh scooters and a fresh tube for the ice cream I wanted. I know this isn't the best for productivity for the restaurant, but she ensured I would be safe and not have any issues. Best service in my life compared to Budapest. 5-stars to Louisa (and the ice cream was good too) Thank you Louisa
google avatar

Esther R.

Yelp
This location has samples something I haven't seen in any of the Houston locations . Love trying their new flavors! Everything bagel flavor didn't disappoint! I was really excited to hear they have a rewards program! Now I have an excuse to like them even more. The line went by super fast and customer service was good.
google avatar

Tarann S.

Yelp
First time at this ice cream shop. Very delicious. I had the cinnamon roll scoop. The server behind the cooler was extremely nice. She allowed me to sample a couple of flavors before deciding on which one to get. Several customers came in as I was leaving. I guess I was last to know how good the ice cream is LOL. There were a couple of people sitting inside enjoying their ice cream. A definite return to this establishment is in my future.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
Love the unique flavors we got waffle bowls, one bowl had blueberry and another flavor. I cannot remember the other bowl had Texas sheet cake and salty peanut butter. This place was cute. The service was quick. The people were nice. The only reason this is not a five star is because our scoops were half the size of a normal scoop. He spent $19 on for tiny scoops and too salty waffle bowls. There's probably better ice cream somewhere else.
google avatar

Karla C.

Yelp
As someone who is lactose intolerant I appreciate dairy free options. I got the cold brew with coconut cream. You have to get it with the waffle cone if you go. I love that this place has a lot of options however most of them have diary. I do get to take a bite out of my friends cone and it's so good. You can sample before committing to a flavor.
google avatar

Candace S.

Yelp
Jeni's ice cream is thebomb.com! Every flavor that I've tried has been absolutely delicious and of high-quality. I've referred several people to try this ice cream chain and everyone has come back with raving reviews. I know that this brand is carried in certain Target locations however, it has not come to mine yet. I hope it's coming soon because I am definitely a fan!
google avatar

J E.

Yelp
While staying in The Domain we happened upon Jeni's while walking and stopped in. They have interesting flavors, great, fresh ice cream, and nice service. We've had Jeni's before, so we were familiar with them. This visit was nice and the flavors we opted for were great. Definitely worth stopping in!
google avatar

Janel L.

Yelp
The ice cream is really good! Walked in and was overwhelmed by the amount of flavors being showcased but then realized that they're the same in each case LOL. Still, there's a good variety of unique flavors and I think it's worth the hype. The workers were nice and gave us a suggested flavor to try when my dad said he loved peanut butter. I sampled the brown butter almond brittle and ended up ordering a Standard size of it. Pretty good and I like how the standard lets you choose more than 1 flavor! The place itself is pretty small with limited seating, but most people just walk in to order ice cream and then take it out.
