I had my first taste of @JenisIceCreams the other night at the Carlsbad location, and ... Wowza!
I got there about an hour before closing, thinking it would be fairly quiet. It was dark out, but the shop was brightly lit and the signage is large, so the location was easy to spot.
The parking lot was fairly full, but I lucked out and found a spot steps from Jeni's. There was just one person ahead of me, so I had a little time to look at all the flavors on the Board and mostly decide what I wanted by the time it was my turn. Luck was on my side again, because shortly after I stepped up to the counter, a big crowd of people started coming in. I took that as a wonderful omen about the ice cream. And because I pretty much knew what I wanted, I placed my order fairly quickly and didn't feel like I was holding up the line.
I chose Burnt Orange Dreamsicle, Salty Caramel and Darkest Chocolate. They were all OMG amazing. Rich, creamy, full of flavor. The Dreamsicle was nothing like the Creamsicle I used to love as a kid when the Good Humor man came driving down our street on summer evenings and all us kids on the block would run inside yelling to our parents for money so we could buy ice cream. It's a fond memory, but time moves on and I'll take Jeni's Dreamsicle any day over the Creamsicle! The other two flavors were equally amazing, but sorry, Dreamsicle, the Darkest Chocolate was sublime and easily my favorite. The waffle "cookie" stuck in the ice cream was very good, not too sweet, and had a great crunch.
The young woman behind the counter who took my order was very sweet, kind and helpful. The shop is cute, bright and had an exit door to the side, so I didn't have to squeeze through the crowd on my way out.
I highly recommend Jeni's and hope your experience will be like mine--splendid!
