Walking past City Century, it’s hard to ignore the long line outside Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Naturally, we assumed this was the spot for a remarkable ice cream experience—something unique and worth the wait.
The shop offers a wide variety of flavors, which is certainly a highlight. However, beyond the extensive menu, the ice creams themselves didn’t quite live up to the hype. While the Dark Chocolate Coconut Cream was impressively rich and smooth, and the Strawberry Buttermilk had a pleasant, fresh tang, other flavors fell flat. The Lemon was overly sharp without balance, and the Peanut lacked depth, bordering on artificial.
We also tried one of their ice cream sandwiches, but the cookie was overpoweringly sweet with an intense milky flavor that overshadowed the ice cream itself. Additionally, the menu presentation was somewhat confusing, making it harder to navigate through the flavor options.
Prices are on the higher side, which would be justified if the experience matched the premium positioning. In this case, while it’s an interesting stop for the experience and to satisfy curiosity, there are definitely better places in the city to enjoy a truly exceptional ice cream.
Final Verdict: Worth a visit for the experience and a couple of standout flavors, but overall, more style than substance.
