The Best Meals In Philly For Under $15

"The Meal: Seafood Jjamppong, $14.99  You forgot to cancel your seven-day free trial, and now YouTube TV put a $73 crater in your checking account. This calls for nights in and heaps of seafood jjamppong. Jeong’s is in a food stall in Cheltenham’s H-Mart, so grab a foam tray overloaded with thin, chewy noodles, shrimp, mussels, sauteed cabbage, and pork drenched in thick, earthy black bean sauce to go. While you’re waiting for your Korean noodles, you can pick up 40 Asian snacks that cost less than your new streaming bill. " - candis mclean

Jeong’s Noodle - Review - Cheltenham - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Just like it's hard to watch Ratatouille without pining for stewed zucchini, we can't possibly sit through a K-drama without thinking about steamy bowls of jajangmyeon. In these situations, we pause the TV (sorry K-drama) and head straight to Jeong’s Noodle in the food court of Cheltenham's H Mart. This Korean stall serves bowls of deep-red jjamppong, pork dumplings, and, the best of both worlds, a brothy dumpling stew. Everything costs less than $16, so you could pretty much order the entire menu, spread your trays out at a communal table with friends, and not even wince when you check your balance the next day. But if you're just choosing one dish, make it the seafood jajangmyeon, a heap of chewy, thin noodles with shrimp, mussels, cabbage, and pork drenched in thick, earthy black bean sauce." - Candis R. Google
The overall food and service is great. The person who attended was very kind and helpful. The food was great, we loved the soup and the chicken dish. By asking they can make it spicy and it definitely makes it great for some cold weather. The best part of these meals are it’s a combo of veggies and meat so it just tastes great. I would recommend this place and give it 5 star.

Google
Jeong's Noodles, despite being located in a grocery store, might have some of the best noodles in Philadelphia~ The broth is flavorful, the noodles are perfect, and the size of the dishes are very good. My only gripe is that in a matter of months, they raised the price of one of my favorite dishes by $4. Some of their more basic dishes are still decently priced, but many items have drastically increased in price. Food cost is not as high right now, so I don't understand the sudden and drastic increase in prices.

The Jjamppong noodle soup is delicious. There are options with seafood, dumplings, and more. The soup base has an exceptional flavor. I would say this has become my favorite asian soup. I also like Pho and Hot Pot fish base soups. I look forward to trying other options, but I'm afraid that I may keep going back for the same soup, at least for a little while.

Great Korean Noodles, big size, great flavor. Located inside the H-Mart food Court

I have eaten hundreds of jjambong in restaurants all across the United States. I cannot believe the best jjambong I have ever eaten is in a tiny H mart food stall. You can taste the ‘wok hey’ smoky flavor in every bite. Both the soup base and noodles rival that of classic Chinese restaurants in Korea. The quantity of seafood is acceptable for the price. Their jjajang is also very good. I would recommend the tofu jjambong and jjajang rice that comes with egg omelet. As someone who is moving to a different city soon, this place will be sorely missed. Food: 5++ Service and atmosphere: Typical for a H Mart food court. Avoid peak hours for a better experience.

Google
Ordered the jjajangbap here, and it hit the spot. The side of jjambong soup was nice too. My only few gripes - I could do without the shrimp in the egg, and it would have been nice to have a little more sauce and side radish. Seating here is tight (especially during dining hours), so keep that in mind if you're wanting to dine in.

I was so surprised to find the perfect jjampong visiting Philly! The ingredients were super fresh and the broth had a great wok fried and spicy flavor. Better than the ones I tasted in Los Angeles! Very good!

Yelp
I got the Jajangmyeon and I really enjoyed it. It's hard to find this dish in South Jersey. It's located in the food court of Hmart Philadelphia (Front Street location). Service is friendly and this Hmart is located in a large plaza with ample parking. I would like to get it again if I'm ever in the area. 4.5/5.

Yelp
Noodles were amazing ! Nice portion size. Good amount of seafood. Order the little spicy and the spice was a good kick already ! Def don't disappoint on a cold day

Yelp
I also reviewed the overall H-Mart location. This is the restaurant I typically choose to eat at when visiting the H-Mart Philadelphia location. I've had both the jjajangmyeon and jjamppong here, both are pretty good. The jjajangmyeon sauce is delicious and the jjamppong is not too salty (and is kind of sweet? In a way that I like!) Portions are not great though, and it is a little pricier than other places in the area to get similar quality food. But, of course, this is located conveniently inside an H-Mart, so you get what you get.

Yelp
I always get the most spicy jjambbong noodle dish and it's so good! I always sweat when I eat lol

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious! This place inside H-mart is a gem! Friendly staff too. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
Entry: (1 Star) The H-Mart food court entry is cumbersome. Patrons must enter through the grocery store, walk to the far end of the produce at the far wall of the store, and then walk all the way to the other wall with no re-entry. Entry takes about 175 steps. Food quality: We love the jjajangmyun, champong, and beef tangsuyuk. It's definitely a favorite that brings us back. The bibimbap is normal. Food quantity: The quality lowered significantly since opening. We consistently visited once a month since opening. And it gets smaller almost every time. We used to have leftovers and now we don't. Service: It was very enthusiastic at the beginning but it is very typical of an Hmart food court. Overall: Have visited many times and we come for the food. Five Stars! The service is either par or slightly above par.

Yelp
I tried looking up Jeong's Noodles / Danny's Kitchen because that's what the sign said when I visited yesterday, but Google brought me to this yelp page. I assume the shop name just changed, but anyway I ordered the jjamppong and jjajangmyeon and both were pretty solid. About $22 for both. The black bean noodles were very saucy and were a little salty but pretty good! I finished the whole bowl. The jjamppong was a little oily but also delicious.

Yelp
Oh my god, I love this place! The noodles and just everything! The people who are always up front are super kind, but they do stare a lot. I wish they would give more which is the yellow radishes, especially if I ordered a shit ton of food. Overall, please try the seafood jampong and the jajangmyeon. Totally recommend. I definitely will have to try other stuff on this menu some other time too.

Yelp
i wasnt going to post this but i have to. i ordered jjamppong take out few weeks back..... while my wife was eating, there was big pieces of metal brush in the soup. i guess they were using to clean the mussels. she almost cut herself while eating. here is the bad part....i messaged the store to be more careful in the future. But instead someone read the message and didn't even bother to say sorry. this is totally unacceptable. please own your mistakes instead of ignoring

Yelp
Jajangmyun is solid here, exactly what you would expect. Would recommend coming here if you are stopping by hmart!

Yelp
Solid noodle shop. Order their seafood jajangmyun and the jampong for takeout. Between jampong and jajangmyun, I usually always prefer jampong but at Kyodong, I think their jajangmyun is better. The jampong was good but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The seafood jajangmyun was definitely better. Sauce is good and there is a smokiness to it that we quite enjoyed. Will be back for their jajangmyun but will pass on the jampong.

Yelp
Indoor dining is not allowed during COVID-19. We sat outside, but it's so cold. Although there is a furnace around tables, the food became cold all at once.

Yelp
Ordered takeout here after finishing groceries at H Mart. I agree with the other review that the jajangmyeon is better than the jjampong. My husband had ordered the jjampong and found it to be lacking in flavor. The jajangmyeon noodles, however, had a good texture and the sauce was not too salty with a little sweetness.
