Here’s Where to Spend 36 Food and Wine-Filled Hours in Lodi | Eater SF

"I appreciate Jeremy Trettevik’s breadth of knowledge, honed over about 20 years in the wine industry, reflected in fun, delicious Italian red varietals and zins; the Jeremiah’s Jug program lets customers buy a 1-liter jug and fill it with Jeremy’s rotating blends (he's on blend number 38 and has never repeated one). You can experience Jeremy wines in the downtown tasting room with a spacious, dog-friendly patio (open daily noon–5 p.m.) or in the country barrel room in Lockeford with snacks like cheese and charcuterie, and the Sweetheart collection signals sweeter blends such as a chocolate port–style dessert wine." - Laura Smith Borrman

My sister and I stopped in about half an hour before closing on Wednesday, 7/30, for a tasting. Wow wow wow! She had been to the winery and loved one of their zins; I was a Jeremy newbie. Everything was fantastic: the wine, the service, the low-key ambience (a person was chilling there enjoying a glass and hanging with her dog), did I say the service? Nathan was our tasting room server and he was attentive, friendly, and upbeat. There was another lovely person there whose name I have misplaced (so sorry!) who came out a bit later and helped us as well. We were so well taken care of and truly, the wine is outstanding. Highly recommend when you are visiting Lodi.

Google
Why not six stars? That's my question. The chocolate port is an unparalled love elixer. Worth every dime. Tasting room staff worth their weight in late harvest Syrah. Triump of the vine!

Erik F.

Google
Top notch - excellent reviews on Yelp! Great wines! Centrally located in the downtown area of Lodi makes it convenient to just drop in. Book ahead if going on a group outing, it can fill up fast. Sorry, didn't get pics of the beautiful court yard setting here. Cool concept here - get the jug!

Our visit to Jeremy Wine Co. was a waste of time and money. We bought a bottle of port and were told we could come back inside for refills — no mention of any limit. Then, halfway through, they suddenly refused to serve us more, despite us being totally sober and respectful. If there were rules, they never communicated them — and clearly made them up as they went. Worse, not a single staff member bothered to check on us outside for our purchased alcohol bottle the entire time we sat there. No hospitality. They were happy to take our money, but clearly had no interest in providing even the most basic level of service after that. This place treats paying customers like an inconvenience. Don’t waste your time — there are plenty of better wineries in Lodi that won’t pull this bait-and-switch nonsense.

Google
Really enjoyed our tasting here. The people were fun! Their jug wine was really good. We also purchased the Bluebonnet and their Aglianico. They're on my list to visit again.

Google
This is a terrific place to taste wines. The wine is excellent. Take a case home.

Google
Stopped in at the lickeford location was quite impressed with the building and estetics very nice and open was a Sunday wasn’t very busy had a set up to wine taste most of the wines are at Lodi location as well wines are always good. Unfortunately the service wasn’t good we waited quite awhile between the tastings we asked if they had any cheese crackers or a charquitere board we were told and directed to a small cooler with cheese and snacks and a place where crackers cookies & potato chips were $8.00 fora 8oz bag $6.00 for small bag of cookies everything way overpriced other wineries bring u a charcuterie board or what ever u like. We’re avid wine taster and belong to a few wine clubs . I’m amazed as much as the wine industry is suffering from sales on wine due to the generation gap baby boomers etc. the younger generation not drinking wine we bought 2 bottles of wine and was forced to give a 18% tip. Unfortunately we won’t be back at this location was more about the service here

Yelp
Went there today and like always service was amazing. Did someone tasting and service is always awesome. Sad you are out of Chocolate port I was bragging to a friend about it and couldn't prove how good it was. If you haven't tried it or any of the wines here you're missing out. Thursday was also a farmers market so after enjoying wine tasting and restocking my wine. I got to enjoy the farmers market.

Yelp
Visited Jeremy Wine Co from a suggestion of some friends who are members there and love their old vine zins. Easy going ambiance with ample seating in the back yard. We tasted everything on their list for $15 which is waived with the purchase of a bottle. There were even a few additional tastes that were available but not on the menu. I noticed that they had a Grenache on the bottle list, which is one of my favorite grapes, and they opened a bottle specifically for me to taste. I appreciated that because multiple of us ended up buying a bottle of it. Really welcoming and friendly staff. The only thing I wish is that we could have tried more old vine zins, there was only one listed on the tasting. I'd love if an only old vine zin tasting was offered.

Yelp
Wine tasting in downtown Lodi. Today was a little crowded in the tasting room, the staff were knowledgeable but busy so we ended up feeling rushed. Picked up our monthly wine order. The wine is amazing and we love their sweet white wines.
google avatar

Danielle K.

Yelp
Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with a great variety of wines to taste. For just $15, we got a generous tasting that included several bonus pours, which was a nice surprise. The tasting fee is waived per bottle purchase. I only wished I could have tried more old vine zins. Overall a great value at Jeremy Wine Co!

Yelp
I took my friend who had not been wine tasting in Lodi, so of course, Jeremy is a must! Especially since Jeremy was my first stop too over 10 years ago. We had fun tasting, especially due to our server, she was very energetic and sweet. We enjoyed the holiday wine, such as Joy and Jingle, but we ended up buying a bottle of wine (each): my friend the Chardonnay and I got the Black Label Zinfandel-Noma. They opened our bottles and took them to us outside their back patio, which was absolutely cute, and the old brick buildings around it gave us the warm fuzzies. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
Was a nice little lively spot. Looks as though they have their usuals that partake in their visits alongside a few newer visitors like ourselves. Who we're celebrating a friends birthday.Nice little seating arrangement throughout the location. There was a a water station and a little snack rack set up for purchasing. During this visit there were these awesome glass jugs that I would love to have purchased separate but were only available for filling up with the purchasing of wine. . My favorite wine sale ruin is their citrus wine with other fruits included. Tasteful and refreshing. Located I. The heart of Lodi, I'm sure we may pay another visit here in the future.

Yelp
We were quite surprised how these European wines tasted. Very fruit forward, bold, and smooth. $15 for 7 wines but we got to try dry zin rose, port, box wine that's vaccumed, red blend on tap (jug program blend of Syrah and zin). Tasting fee waived with 1 bottle purchase. We walked in Monday close to 2 pm. It was empty. Jane was amazing and poured for us was nice and knowledgeable. This is a tasting room and they actually have a winery up north in Lockeford. You can bring food and snacks here. Big outdoor seating outside with umbrellas. No chairs or tables inside tasting room.

Yelp
We stopped in here, 40 minutes before they closed on a Thursday afternoon. The tasting room manager seated us and gave us great service, we were able to taste a great profile of their wine offerings, and found the whole experience to be just what we were looking for in an upscale and low-key experience. The space is not fancy, but it's very comfortable, and in warmer weather they have a patio in to use in the back. The wines from the gambit, and since wine tasting is so subject of the best I can say is there's something here for everyone I particularly liked their jug red blend. if you haven't tried this place out, you're missing something, and the next time I come back, I have to go visit their vineyard location.

Yelp
We've had a great time every time we've visited. They have refillable jugs and their "jug wine" is delicious. Love that they have two locations. Lockeford is more off the beaten path but the tasting room is spacious with very comfortable couches and chairs to hang out and relax. The downtown location is small but inviting and so convenient to park and also go stop at some shops or grab a bite to eat. We were there again this last weekend and had a fantastic time with Marlene who was nice, nice, nice. Such a great place.

Yelp
The tasting was a great experience. The wine was amazing and the staff were friendly. It's a nice place to visit. I recommend the blends and port! The seating is comfortable inside

Yelp
Had a great time here , Rose was abating the service was simply precious, Lodi did not disappoint and the story of Jeremiah made me enjoy that much more ,

Yelp
Great wines and Jeremy is an awesome host. Their port wines are a must try! The chocolate port is A+++

Yelp
Love this tasting room in downtown Lodi area. Plenty of street parking and shopping afterwards to enjoy. You can either taste at their bar area instead or on the little patio outside back which is where we went. Flights are brought to you and they allow outside food to enjoy with your wines. My Cousin is a member here and although she wasn't with us, they allowed us to use her discount! (With her consent of course!). Definitely a plus for us as we got to buy more of their great wines! Tasting fee also waived with purchase, unheard of in other tasting regions! I brought my empty jugs, thoroughly cleaned beforehand and had them refilled with their red blend which is very smooth and easy to drink with any meal. They also have a second tasting room outside of town that's on our next trips list to check out!

Yelp
I hope Dwayne still works at Jeremy Wine. He was terrific and made our visit here so much fun. I've been talking about another trip to Lodi for wine tasting with friends a lot recently, and this was one of my favorite spots! We bought several bottles to go, our favorite being the chocolate port, which made wonderful holiday gifts, and also delicious brownies. No joke. They gave us the recipe and it was a success. Moral: Their wine bangs hard. For a great time, go visit their winery.

Yelp
So. . .my girlfriends and I attended an event at Peltier that morning and as we were leaving, one of them suggested we stop by Jeremy's for tasting. It was going to be my first time there. Walking up, their sign said they were only offering flights. Cool. We were seated in the back, semi-intimate, under a canopy. Sufficient spacing between other patrons. We got all the flight options and a couple of pre-packaged snack kits which was perfect. Towards the end of our flight experience (which was pretty amazing), the owner, Jeremy, came out, checked on us and offered us a tasting of his chocolate port. DELICIOUS!! His attention and offer was the cherry on top of an already beautiful experience. I will definitely be back and highly suggest other winos to check this place out if you haven't already!!

Yelp
I have been a member here for about 5 years. It is seriously a hidden gem. With a large back patio seating. The wines are very pleasing. If you are a fan of reds this place will not disappoint. The price points are extremely reasonable. I'd say most of Lodi wines are. Membership perks include a complimentary tasting every quarter and the tasting portions are very generous. Also Jeremy makes wine on tap, this generally changes I can't say I've ever had a bad wine there!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this wine tasting company . Really liked all the wine they had to offer. Would definitely recommend frnds / family to check it out

Edie B.

Yelp
Attended their Toy Drive event in Lockford Friday night. It was so much fun. Great music and food. Always a fun place and wines are phenomenal. Thank you Jeremy for hosting and donating to the kids.

Yelp
Great little place, great customer service, and great wine! Jeremy and Choral have a great place here. The wine is consistently good and never disappoints. I love bringing in my jug to get re-filled as well, in my book any winery that is relaxed enough to have refillable jugs in a winery I want to frequent! It's also a super reasonably priced way to enjoy some tasty wine with friends! My best friend is a wine club member and has been for many years despite living in Idaho now she remains a wine club member and we usually go when she is in town. They're always friendly and we have a great time. The tasting room is very inviting and they have so much fun stuff for sale on top of the wine. Like some seriously cute and clever gifts so if you're in town wine tasting and forgot to pick up a gift for a friend's birthday make sure to also check out the swag. The front patio is a great place to chill outdoors and they also have the cutest little back patio which is a great place to chill with friends on a cool day and enjoy some bites while sipping grape juice. Cheers!

Yelp
Did a wine tasting at the downtown Lodi location. Friendly staff, beautiful outdoor patio and delicious wines. Ended up buying a case!

Yelp
Visited Lockeford location. Excellent wines, met the very awesome Jeremy, sipped in the beautiful barrel room, interacted with really fun & excellent people! 5*****! Delighted to anticipate returning next week with parents.

Yelp
Charming boutique winery with tasting room in downtown Lodi. They do not take reservations and flights are around $10 or so. Many of their wines have limited cases so if there is something you like, better buy it now. The tasting is done in their patio area in the back, you wouldn't know it is there from looking at the storefront. Our server was Bo, friendly, helpful and accommodating. Of course the one wine I did enjoy was a limited release Zin and at $42 a bottle I couldn't justify buying a case but did get a bottle. I was also a fan of their rose. This isn't your mother's rose, it's semi dry without being overly fruity. Perfect with a curry for instance or when you feel like day drinking and watching Netflix.

Yelp
If you are looking for a cozy, friendly, and beautiful spot with delicious wine, come here! We did a wine tasting excursion and this was my favourite stop all day. We'd visited one of the larger wineries earlier in the day, and I kind of felt rushed out. But we were instantly greeted with a warm welcome and found a comfy table in the back area with a nice view and a heater next to us too. Bo served us and she was incredibly friendly and cheery. I got the Staff picks tasting and my friend the Barbera tasting. Amazing wine and generous pours too. It was such a pleasurable experience I couldn't help but take a bottle of the Cabernet home. If you are every downtown looking for a great wine tasting experience, I highly recommend.

Yelp
Nice tasting room in town. Decent outdoor seating with umbrellas and fans. The wines were good and service was friendly. No reservations required.

Yelp
Top your Saturday off at Jeremy Wine Co located in Downtown Lodi, CA. There's plenty of comfortable seating inside and outside in the beautiful patio. Plus Plus The Wine is great and they have Cheese and Crackers and we brought ours. This is a perfect place to unwind the week. Bring your Dogs They

Yelp
We are members and my fiancé has been since day one of the opening. We love this wine and location. Always have! I am leaving this review specifically for our wine pourer though. Because we think Ash is simply amazing! She made our experience here feel like we were celebrities. She remembered our names throughout our stay and she was so freaking sweet! We are members at a few wineries and yesterday we went to three of them and Ash was hands down the best pourer of the day! She joined in our conversations and we felt like we have known her forever. We wished she could have sat down with a glass of wine and hang with us. Talk about the impact that someone can have. Ash, if you read this, you are so personable, genuine, and we enjoyed having you pour for us. Thank you for making the day so memorable for us!
google avatar

Karen Z.

Yelp
I went here with my partner on a hot day! The staff were lovely and our experience was as well! The wine was very good, I tried the sweet flight and was very happy with the tasting. I even took a bottle home.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Omg what a gem of a place. They are currently offering your choice between four different premade flights for 10 dollars each along with your choice of purchasing a glass of wine or a bottle in addition. I personally tried the zin flight which was FANTASTIC and has some very high quality wines in it (our server mentioned the most expensive wine they have is part of this tasting flight). My party tried the three other flights offered as well and my sister loved the sweet flight. They also offered some snack packs which were enough to split between two people easily and only 5 dollars. As for the service is was AMAZING. Our server was highly attentive and brought us plenty of water without having to ask. They even brought us fans and a bowl of water for my pup, oh did I mention they are dog friendly? What a bonus. The patio had electric fans and misters going, but staff also brought out handheld fans which was much appreciated. I will be returning and recommending.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was awesome! It was pretty busy and crowded with everybody wine tasting at the counter. It was $10 per glass but was waived if you bought a bottle. Jeremy was really friendly and told us his story. He definitely had a good personality and easy to talk to about wine. There were 6 wines on the tasting menu: '16 Albarino - Lodi, '14 Old Vine Zinfindel - Lodi, '14 Primitivo - Amador, '14 Tempranillo - Amador, '14 Black Label Zinfindel, and Jeremiah's Jug -Lodi. Each tasted good to me and out of those 6, I would have chosen the Black Label Zinfindel; however, Jeremy brought out a seventh wine for us to taste. It was the Chocolate Port (bottle with a heart on it) and it was so good to me! If you love chocolate then that wine was definitely a must try! It was my favorite out of all seven wines. Come stop by if you're in the area for wine tasting!

Julie C.

Yelp
We've been to the Jeremy Winery in Lodi many times over the years and really enjoyed both the people and the wine. Over the past two months we have gone to the Jeremy Winery in Lockeford twice! WOW.....we love the vibe, the wine is still delicious and we love that we can bring our dog with us! We had a great visit yesterday and had excellent service, but we didn't catch her name! I know that she's only been working there a month and is from Discovery Bay! Anyway, she took great care of us and we joined the wine club! We're looking forward to bringing family and friends back real soon! Thanks so much and we now have a destination winery to visit!!

Natalie W.

Yelp
I love it here!!! Me and my boyfriend love coming her and after our first visit we knew we HAD to be memebers. Membership is free with commitment to buy a few bottles each release. Jeremys wine is the best, hands down. I even love his wines that normally I don't typically like. Cameron is the best. I love his service, his energy, everything. He is so engaging and the way he explains the wines to us makes us want to try them all. And it's not expensive either!!! We could really stay here all day honestly. It has a great ambiance, it's really a vibe. It's a great place to go for a date, with friends, family or even just alone lol. Always stop by for a tasting guys.

Yelp
Small tasting room with a courtyard in the back.. Jeremy, himself, told me the reds are vegan and the white are not because he uses a little gelatin. (Pertaining to the flight of wines available.. not sure if it's always that way..) Tasting flight is $10. Waived if you buy a bottle. I bought a bottle of port there.. Ridiculously good if you like chocolate. It was really busy and I still had great service from the ladies working there and the winemaker was there and able to tell me what's vegan and not..
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great & the ambiance was awesome! I loved how thorough the description was for each wine. Great times! I will definitely visit again soon :)
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing amazing service! Our server was Bonita and she was beyond awesome. She even gave me a complimentary tasting of their chocolate wine and man was I blown away. They taking all safety precautions and kept a clean bathroom too. Definitely will be patronizing them again.

Yelp
Wonderful wines, great atmosphere, and really knowledgeable friendly service. The viognier is excellent

Yelp
What a fun discover in Lodi. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience here with a sweet gal serving us and discussing the wines and the owner. We were a bit short on time, as it was 4pm and we were trying to make it to one other winery, but she offered to hold our purchase while we walked to another winery...suggesting she would be a little after 5pm tidying up anyway. The concoction in the jug, that changes every 2 months was a fun tasting as was the Albarino...perfect for summer, yet sweeter than most. The art on the wall and the overall atmosphere was lovely.
google avatar

Sandy L.

Yelp
Adorable tasting patio area, friendly, welcoming staff and delicious wine! Triple threat! Definitely worth stopping by, will be back again!
google avatar

Del S.

Yelp
Always love Farmers Market time of year... its great to hang out at Jeremy Wine Company as they have musicians out on their patio to compliment their great wines. Shared a bottle of the Albarino. A nice white wine, that isn't too sweet... just perfect... The owners are always so friendly... and all the pourers are too... Always enjoy our visit :)

Yelp
Disclaimer here: I am not a drinker and I don't particularly like wine. Still, I like to collect pretty bottles of wine and have several from travels (like Italy, Germany, Texas, etc.) so when I saw this charming shop right in front of where we parked for a few hours of roaming Lodi before dinner with my husband, I decided to poke my head inside. Staff were friendly and I was offered to sample a few of the wines they had. I made small-talk with a blogger inside who was researching an article about people who buy wine but don't drink it. Ha! Small world huh? I chose two bottles I liked - the chocolate dessert wine for around $28 and one of the blush rose wines for $20 which was surprisingly not bad even for my taste. I doubt I'll open it because I like the look - but if I had to drink some wine for some reason - this would be the one I'd choose. The inside was small and cozy and the tasting was easy and well-done. They also have a dinner wine offered on tap and if you buy one of the larger bottles you can refill it if you are local. Neat concept.
google avatar

Jeremy H.

Yelp
My partner brought me here during our Lodi trip because of the name (!!!). Overall, we enjoyed the visit to Jeremy Wine Co in downtown Lodi, but the wines didn't quite do it for us. I think with so many different wines to choose from, we perhaps ended up getting some that simply didn't jive with the taste profile we prefer, but the experience was definitely a good one here.

Gary A.

Yelp
I recommend Jeremy wine company for his great wines and impeccable service. It's a must if you visit wineries you have to visit Jeremy in Lockeford at the winery with its great views of the Vineyards or the nostalgic downtown location and great music either location you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Dutch W.

Yelp
I visit the new Lockford location and am impressed by the aesthetics of the tasting room that has an ambiance for cozy comfort and the back patio continues to be enhanced. The elevated view looking over the old vine vineyards is such a bonus. Jeremy and his wife are so personable along with the family of employees look at his you tube videos and see his infectious personality for the wines they grow and provide. A must visit for any one wanting a blend and a soft breeze

Olivia M.

Yelp
Wine was great! Customer service was horrible. I had some spare time in between errands and decided to do a quick tasting. I wasn't greeted and the lady behind the counter was super rude. I asked for a tasting and she didn't explain anything to me just very rudely asked "white or red." She then asked, "you're just wine tasting by yourself?.." in a very condescending way. As soon as one wine poured, she grabbed the next bottle and starred at me until I I was finished so she could pour the next. Mind you, no eye contact was made nor a conversation this whole time. I then asked if I could sit down, being I was uncomfortable standing and being starred at, she replied, "yes but you have to come up for your next poor because I get busy". Besides myself, there was one other couple there.. there was also no explanation of the wines. When I did have a question, she turned around grabbed the wine list, gave it to me and walked away with no words being said. I felt like my business was not wanted. 7 wines and I was in and out in about 10 minutes.

Yelp
On our first visit to Lodi we were lucky to land at the Jeremy Wine Company. What a welcoming place with awesome wines. We brought a picnic lunch and sat on the patio with our dog and enjoyed two flights of reds. Mark and Denise were super knowledgeable about the wines and even recommended other wineries and restaurants to visit. We will definitely be back! Also looking forward to the first shipment from the wine club!!
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. We ended up here as recommendation from a previous winery and I'm glad we stopped in. It was a good size store but small-ish bar area and pretty crowded with families. Despite the crowd,We were greeted immediately and with every pour we were given history of each wine, the staff seemed very passionate. Kelly was AWESOME and offered up some great lunch & tasting room recommendations . I would stop in again if in Lodi & would recommend this tasting room to anyone!
google avatar

Ted R.

Yelp
Great wines terrible server. The gal we had was salty and not friendly at all. Brought friends from Canada and felt like she was just bothered by us. They bought a case of wine because the Zinfandel is great. I just wanted to leave and say I am sorry they are so rude. Will never take guest here again. Welcome to Lodi now get out of my face.
google avatar

Carolyn N.

Yelp
This was our first stop for the day, and we ended up leaving with a JUG and a bottle of wine. The staff were wonderful in giving recommendations on other wineries to visit and what else is around the area. The jug is $30 but when you come back to refill, it's only $20! The wine club is also FREE! You just have to purchase 3 bottles a year or something insane like that. Such a good deal! Because it was our first stop, we were reluctant to join, but now that we are home, we are seriously thinking about it. There were several people who works for Napa wineries stopping in here for wine, and purchased, so that's a good sign. The tasting fee is $10 for 7 pours but waived with purchase. They also insists for you to revisit any of the wines if you are still deciding. I love that! Again, very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Thank you Yelp for the recommendation and I too recommend my follow yelpers to visit here. They also allow dogs in the tasting room, so bring your well behaved dog because you may need him/her to walk you back to your car later. Lol
