Some of the best jerk chicken I’ve ever had gotta try it god damn

I really wanted to love the food here because LA is sorely lacking when it comes to great somewhat authentic Jamaican restaurants. I ordered two days in a row hoping my first experience was a fluke. They're jerk chicken is true to it's description, it is indeed a fusion of Jamaican jerk and American bbq. It taste great for what it is but they only mange to give 1 leg quarter with the option of French fries or rice n peas with "festival," cabbage, and sweet plantain. 1 leg quarter for $12 is outrageous even for LA. The festival was dry and way too sweet like. The sweet plantain was EXTREMELY salty... how do you mess that up?

Good Jamaican food, even better after realizing it's from a food truck. Ordered the jerk chicken bowl and oxtail bowl. Both come with rice and beans, plantains, cabbage, and festival. The rice and beans are as expected. They aren't inherently delicious, but they are also inoffensive and work well as a filler that provides some additional nutrients. The cabbage comes with shredded lettuce and is pretty nondescript. It's steamed and not really seasoned. The plantains are soft and sweet. They're well cooked and have just the right amount of mouthfeel where they aren't mushy but also easy to chew. The festival (dumplings) are the weakest point in the dish. Overall, they were hard and the insides were partially collapsed and not all that soft. Whereas they could have been with a crispier outside and pillowy inside, they ended up just being hard to bite into. The chicken is spicy! There's a lot of smokiness with just a bit of sweetness. The portion is nice being two drumsticks and a half breast with ribs. The breast wasn't dry and the fork and tooth tender. The oxtail is less spicy but still has a good kick. It's too bad that oxtail is getting pretty expensive since it's historically been more of a peasant/laborer type food. The meat itself has a smoky and sweet taste like the jerk chicken. The meat is still a bit chewy because of the collagen but the the meaty flavor is outstanding. The dish contained four nicely sized pieces of oxtail. I'd order from here again. I wonder if I can replace all the sides with just cabbage.

Don't waste your money or your time. Yelp took down my review although the owner agreed that he didn't make the order properly. I ordered rice and beans and literally there are hardly ANY beans on my plate. Mostly white rice I'm disappointed. I waited 30 minutes or more and this is not Jamaican rice and beans. I tipped him. A disgrace. No flavor this is not rice and bean. I talked to the owner he has NOT refunded my money.

So far, I have not sampled many food trucks in LA, and my first one (with taco's) was somewhat of an disappointment, but when I saw the word 'Jerk' and Oxtails on the menu, I know I needed to give my food truck experience another try. So far so good, happy and honest staff, and enthusiastic at work, the short wait was not a bad one. I had the jerk wings with rice and plantains. My opinion? Delish! Hope they will park their truck nearby soon!

Not worth my tastebuds or money. What I ordered: oxtail plate no cabbage, extra plantain What I thought: If I could rate zero I would. I was told my order would be done in 10mins. Which was a big shock because Jamaican food takes tender time to cook. I got my order and was so disappointed. What I was eating tasted like someone who just learned how to cook Jamaican food and has not yet mastered the right ingredients. The oxtail was chewy and tasted honestly like beef and not oxtail. The rice and beans had no beans whatsoever. My boyfriend ordered their chicken plate and that too was a whole mess. And the worst part is I found 3 finger length stems of God knows what. The only thing which can't be made bad were the plantains. This business should not be selling if they don't know how to cook.

I like the options on the menu. The jerked salmon option had me intrigued as well as the jerk chicken fries. Unfortunately, I was unhappy with my meal. I ordered jerk wings and fries. At $16, I was hoping for a better experience. My wings were all on the small side: I'm not complaining about that as I know huge wings are a sign of added hormones (bleh!) However, they were cooked too long for their size and over done. I'm not talking about that beautiful blackened char that comes with jerked dishes, the wings were simply dry and hard in too many places. And the biggest disappointment was the amount of salt. It tasted like 10 dashes too much and I was unable to experience the actual jerk seasoning due to the overpowering salt flavor. Please be aware this review is based on only 1 dish so keep that in mind!

You get ONLY 3 oxtailS FOR $21... this is an absolute RIP OFF. The rice and peas tastes like nothing it's basically white rice with like 3 red kidney beans... no FLAVOR whatsoever... Never order from here. Disgrace to Jamaican food.

These people dont serve you real chicken. Its some low quality meat that tasted like turkey & was hard to chew. The rice is dry & the flavor is low. They charged me $20 for a plate of nonsense.

I grew up in Jamaica so I'm incredibly picky abOut where I get my Jamaican cuisine, tonight I am very happy to write this review. picked up the oxtail bowl and boy that thang HITS! Hats off to the chef

Flavor was good, first time ordering from here and I was not disappointed with taste...although I've never had wings that had been seasoned and cooked and still had full feathers attached. Is that like a bonus or a mistake? I don't know but I'm not 100% sold on this place

insane flavor. i don't handle spice too well (you can get it mild) but the flavor was too good i had to keep going. i ordered the jerk pulled chicken fries and it did not disappoint. definitely hitting this place up again and trying the wings next time.

Honestly thinking I was gonna get an actual jerk chicken and not just seasoning on any chicken. I didn't mind the plate at all I was hungry ready for some late night jerk. But I was told there wasn't any veggies or cabbage left so he gave me some other item for free they were like donut holes with sugar or something first time on those I didnt like em because they were hard and stale next thing that jerk was so spicy oh man real kick to it. Anyways thats just the food service and communication is absolutely 5 stars but minus 1 since the food wasn't good enough for me.

I drove 20miles and was so disappointed by a Jamaican restaurant in the valley. Then I saw Jerk Alert on yelp and the photos looked great. So I drove another 20miles and was so pleased. His flavors are perfect. I got the ox tail and jerk chicken bowls. He was sweet enough to throw in the combination fried rice with pulled jerk chicken and shrimp. Serving size was very generous. The ox tails were perfectly tender and the next day the flavors were even more delicious. The chicken was also cooked to perfection along with the plantains. So happy I made the trip. Jamaican men are the only men that can cook better than the women in their culture. I grew up with a Jamaican mom and I know when the food is cooked right. Don't sleep on this food truck. Deliciousness

So I've been looking for another real "off the grill" jerk spot and I pull up a truck with great IG following on Hollywood Blvd!!!! I had no idea what I was in for but the pics looked dope!!!! I ordered my food before I pulled up thru text and they had me ready to go once I got there.....when I tell you that the food was worth the wait and amazing from the jerk chicken, shrimp and salmon combo which is now known as the "Rome Special" yea.....it's a off the menu item....lol!! But real talk these boys are definitely a play for those looking for that "fresh off the grill" jerk delights!!!!! I will be pulling up to support from here out! Thanks for the luv my brothas(D and Arturro)see y'all again soon!!!

Don't waste your money or your time. This truck gives Jamaican food a bad reputation. My rice and beans was mostly white rice. What a complete waste of money and a drive. It was dry and flavorless. I waited over 30 minutes for a side order that was disappointing. Jamaican rice and beans have color and flavor but what I was served was white rice, no flavor, and canned beans for $12.46. Not authentic Jamaican food.

My girlfriend and I ordered on postmates, it's one of the best jerk chicken places we've tried. Big portions too!

ordered twice in 2 months. both orders were cancelled and money was held on my card for days. do not waste your time!!! doordash needs to remove this terrible poorly run business. trash.

Tried to order from your establishment through grubhub and when my ordering tracking wasn't being updated I had to call customer service. ONLY after I called and got put on hold did they tell me that you were actually closed and the times listed on grubhub were incorrect. My order was canceled and now I have to wait a whole week to get my 22$ back for something that wasn't my fault in the first place. So yeah, not a good first impression. If you are going to add your restaurant to delivery apps you should be more professional & make sure information is accurate.

As a British-Jamaican I can honestly say Jerk Alert is one of the tastiest and most authentic places to get food from in L.A. Since moving here I have tried to find Caribbean food that tastes as good as home and I'm so glad I came across these guys. Owner Delmar is very helpful and polite and I look forward to supporting his excellent business going forward.

Had the Baby Back Rib Bowl for the first time and it was incredible!! Such authentic flavours and a unique take on traditional Jamaican food. Thank you Jerk Alert!

I don't know if the gentleman taking the orders was having a bad day or what, but he was very distracted we had to repeat our order to him multiple times, he doesn't know the prices of the items and what comes with a side or drink. He doesn't read back orders, so WHEN YOU ORDER ASK HIM TO REPEAT IT BACK... we ordered The jerk steak bowl and wings combo. Let me start by saying the chicken was great...but not hot off the grill fresh, but the flavor kind of made up for it ( I can only imagine what it tastes like fresh from the grill) the fries was cold (like cooked 20 mins before we ordered cold) now for the really bad part...the steak...was missing the order of the bowl items. So we went back telling the cashier and they corrected it no problem, BUT THE STEAK WASNT COOKED PROPERLY. The steak was still raw in the entire middle and it was full of fat. The steak started off promising but ended up being a disappointment for $18.99, it's a very nice size until you try to cut into it and discover raw fatty meat. It's not worth the trip if your not from the Hollywood area. Hopefully they'll learn from the mistakes
