Jerk chicken Rasta pasta and oxtail Rasta pasta was hot, made to order and very delicious. Parking was convenient behind the building. Atmosphere was a vibe and people were nice and friendly.

I had an amazing experience at Jerk House! The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. I ordered the Rasta Pasta with shrimp—top tier flavor and perfectly cooked shrimp. The whole red snapper escovitch was packed with flavor, and the pickled peppers gave it that authentic kick I was hoping for. What really stood out to me was the veggie patties. They came with jerk sauce automatically—and let me just say, that made my day! No other Jamaican spot I’ve been to does that unless you ask (and even then, they try to charge extra). Jerk House gets it right. Great food, great portions, and great service. I’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I were craving something truly satisfying, so we decided to visit Jerk House—and what an incredible choice it turned out to be! From the moment we walked in, the gentleman at the front greeted us with warmth and was wonderfully informative, setting the tone for a fantastic dining experience. We ordered the beef patties, oxtail, and jerk shrimp, along with the cucumber ginger juice, and WOW—every bite was an explosion of rich, bold flavors. The seasoning was spot-on, creating dishes that were nothing short of perfection. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was welcoming and inviting, making us feel right at home. Jerk House has truly mastered the art of delivering an exceptional experience through both service and taste. Highly recommend!

Overall experience was pleasant with a few hiccups when I asked for my curry goat in a separate container. I prefer to add my gravy as needed instead of the other way around. It wasn't received positively. I did get that way though. Another issue I see is the refrigerator section. Prices needs to be displayed. Not when you pay you see the price on your receipt. It helps customer make better and wiser decisions of there choice of beverages.

Hands down best island food I've ever had. Whether eating there or getting carry out, every plate is stacked and every container is stuffed. Their plantains are out of this world. Large beer and regular beverage selection. Highly recommend.

Stumbled upon this location while driving down the road and decided to stop and give it a try! The ambiance is very lively and warm, lots of folks dining in at the outdoor area. I ordered my food online via the order site and it was ready in 35 minutes, efficient staff! I ordered a curry goat platter with rice and peas + cabbage, and a jerk chicken wing platter with rice and peas + cabbage. Both platters were delicious, filling, and bursting with authentic and warm flavors! The soursop juice was very healthy and refreshing tasting! I will be back to try more items here! I thought this place was just okay! But can't be a super fair judge since I only got a beef patty and coco bread to go lol. But even just based off of that, I thought the bread was super fluffy especially with it being fresh out the oven, I was in love. The beef patty was fine, but I've had better. I felt the dough was a little soft and not as flaky as I usually like it. They did put a lot of filling (even though the patty looks small and flat). The service was good and I when I arrived I saw people sitting outside on the patio and it seemed like a chill after work hang out. There's a parking lot but be warned it's very tight and not too many spots, I even had to end up walking around the building to find a spot.

Came here on a Monday afternoon. Very nice patio to enjoy a cold beer and watch baseball. Think Beerstore with Carryout food. They have Dominican food but its limited to weekends. You go inside order and they bring the food out to you. No indoor seating I love Jerk Food...and I didnt have a crazy appetit. I went with the Chicken Sandwhich it was good. Chicken was a lil dry. Having lived in the area for about two years and passing Jerk House Eatery on a near-daily basis, I figured that I would finally bite the bullet and drop by this spot for a serving of oxtails. Although the restaurant has a patio area with tables, the restaurant felt more like a order your food at a counter, wait, and leave. Since I wanted the full restaurant experience, I decided to stay to consume my food. The patio area has about eight to ten tables, which nice for outside dining. However, the patio is pretty much bordered by the parking lot and a busy section of University Blvd (near Colesville Rd.), so the dining experience was not that great for me because of smoking and loud cars constantly passing by. Also, a couple of the other folks in the patio (probably regular customers) were playing their music WAY too loud for my liking. I will admit that it appears they were there to have a few buckets of beer, hang out, and watch whatever soccer/futbol game was on, so I cannot fault them. If I return, I'll more than likely will grab my food to go and eat my bites in the comfort of my home or make in the park that's down the road. For my dining pleasure, I went with an order of oxtails, which came with two sides. I opted for side orders of cabbage and rice & beans. The plate of food was about $26 without tax and tip. Since oxtails tend to be on the pricey side, I thought the portion size was ok for the area. The food was fine, and I cannot complain too much; however, I did find the food to be a bit bland. Ok, I'm not saying that the food was necessarily bad, but I've Jamaican food from other places that had a bit more POP. However, a little hot sauce will go a long way to making the dish POP. I thought the woman working the counter was nice and very patient. Since I'm area, I more than likely will pop by Jerk House Eatery once and a while primarily out of convenience/proximity more so than food.

I've been here a few times now and really like there food. Our first time we were greeted by the owner who was super pleasant and accommodating. So far I've had the curry chicken with rice and peas and plantains and the Rasta pasta, both delicious! My partner really likes the the curry goat. He got fish before, which he said was just okay and I'll say the Mac n cheese is also just okay. But everything else has been pretty good. The food is always served super warm. The place is small with a covered patio seating area. Most days, you'll see local workers hanging and drinking beer to relax. Very laid back vibe. Overall, it's a solid place with pretty good food. It's become one of go-tos.

Inspect your food before you leave! 2 of the 4 pieces of the chicken smelled spoiled. It's as if the chicken was spoiled before it was cooked or maybe the 2 pieces had been sitting for days. Will never eat there again.

Savory dishes and quick service. Their jerk chicken was so exquisitely cooked that the texture complimented the flavor impeccably. Don't sleep on the plantains if you don't want a natural and subtle sweet creamy flavor at the end of your meal.

Jerk House Eatery - 25 University Blvd W, Silver Spring, MD First time here and I was impressed! The moment I pulled into the parking lot, I could smell that authentic Jamaican jerk grilling -- smoky and mouthwatering. I came for the fried chicken, but the jerk smelled so good I almost changed my mind. Nick, the owner, was friendly and recommended I try the fried. He even gave me a small container of jerk chicken to sample since it was my first visit -- great customer service! The fried chicken was flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The jerk chicken had that real charcoal flavor, and the mac and cheese tasted homemade with real cheese. Everything was hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. If you're craving authentic Jamaican flavor and great service, this spot is a must-try!

Great music and love the fact that you can order spirits. I also had the snapper with oxtail sauce over my rice. My first time was meh as well but I'm so glad I came again and tried something different.

I SHOULD HAVE READ ALL THE REVIEWS BEFORE WASTING OUR TIME . Please DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. I was so excited to go here for the first time but NEVER AGAIN. Unfortunately, when I go home to eat my Oxtails and rice n peas I was highly disappointed. The oxtails were tough, more bones than meat with rice n beans that had no flavor at all to be a Jamaican restaurant. Nope, Nada !! I couldn't enjoy this at all. I'm sure they needed to be cooked longer. The curry chicken was also disgusting and the bones with chicken was a sight for sore eyes. No curry flavor at all. Real Jamaican's specialty is seasoned food. PERIOD Al!!! No EXCUSES!! I will not recommend this restaurant because I don't want anyone else to be disappointed especially driving a hour to get it. I'm calling my credit union to get my money back on both orders.

The staff was so nice and patient here and the location is very nice but the jerk chicken wasn't what I needed it to be. It was just missing something. I like my jerk chicken to be spicy and this wasn't spicy at all. They gave me a lot of rice tho. The stew chicken was pretty good and the food came out very quickly. The mac and cheese was decent but I just wasn't satisfied with my meal.

I've been coming here for the last 2 to 3 years and I must say the quality has diminished substantially. I ordered an oxtail dinner and literally there were 4 oxtails in the meal. I was extremely disappointed. I'm not sure what's going on as I'm aware of rising costs but when you pay more than 35.00 for a meal you should at the very least be given enough to ward off a hungry tummy. The service was nice so when you're handed your order you'll assume everything is good. Check your order before you leave. The food industry is taking a big hit on their profits and the consumer is paying with either more money or less food. Cook at home if possible.

I went to Jerk House back when it first opened, and I thought it was amazing. I was very thankful for it to be in our neighborhood. However, I have been back maybe 4 times since then, and the quality of the food has gotten worse every time, to the point where I really dislike it and would avoid it no matter how convenient it is.

Pretty upset about the experience I thought the Jamaican food was about to hit customer service was good guy was polite, food is the only thing im disappointed about we waited almost an hour for this and I think the Mac and cheese can speak for itself who uses those type of noodles both oxtail and Mac and cheese was pretty dry oxtail too small and barely any meat for damnear 70$ this was not worth it at all I don't usually do reviews but this is outrageous 70$ for some bs

My friend just moved to the Silver Spring area and we both like Jamaican food... this place opened fairly recently and it's very close to where he is... so we checked it out! We walked up, and I took note of the abundant green, black and yellow right away. From the parking lot, the first area you see is a bunch of high and low tables in an area covered in that heavy plastic. Didn't see any staff, and it didn't look like there was any service... but AH! It was next to a building and we had to go in there and order separately. The reggae was jammin' in there too -- and there were plenty of beer and wine bottles to choose from, though no prices were visible. I decided to order the jerk shrimp, which was ready in about 20 minutes or so. The Jerk Shrimp had rice & peas and steamed cabbage, and I have to say... it was just alright. There was a LOT of rice & peas, but it wasn't really my favorite -- even with the jerk sauce. It was very sweet... I didn't really get any spice from it at all, and the texture was really light and not thick like the jerk I'm used to. The shrimp at its base was fine, but I just didn't like the jerk sauce. The cabbage wasn't as flavorful as I'm used to, either. The whole platter was $18, which is kind of expensive. It's worth mentioning that the parking lot is VERY tight. We occasionally watched a gridlock in the lot as people tried to go through it. There's no sign or arrow that indicates the traffic in there is one-way, but they should be! Unfortunately, if anyone asked me for local Jamaican recommendations, this place wouldn't be one of my first choices.

Don't buy wine at this place! I went to get a bottle of red and first issue - it was in the fridge. They didn't appear to have any red not chilled. Also, when I went to pay it was $27.99 and listed as a "custom item" (whatever that means...). I've gotten the same bottle of wine at the Woodmoor Beer and Wine for half that price.

My partner and I ate here a number of times initially when we discovered this place practically within walking distance of our house. I've stopped going there since though. The food is just alright, but super oily and extremely pricey. I could get 2 meals elsewhere for the cost here. The ambience is also really poor. It basically feels like ordering food from a tiny liquor store and if you come in through the back, you have to walk through the dark dining area in the back where people are sometimes hanging out.

Positives first: they have festival! (Usually) Festival is a guilty pleasure but most places don't seem to have it. The curried goat is decent but not spicy, though Marylanders would probably think it was spicy but maybe still tolerable. To me, it had decent flavor despite the missing heat and since it is pretty close and not downtown where it is hard to park, I'll probably end up getting it more often than my favorite place which the last two times I tried to go was closed during their normal hours. Le sad. Anyway. Hubby liked the brown stew chicken too. The staff was friendly and the one time they realized it was going to take too long to make festival they offered a beef patty instead, which was very tasty. The negatives - the jerk chicken ain't great. As other reviews said it's not really done authentically and my husband wasn't impressed with it. In winter, it is really only practical for takeout unless you have skin of steel because there is only patio seating, and despite the plastic barrier, it's still pretty cold. In other seasons I could definitely see myself on the patio having curry though.

A disappointing second visit. I took my brother here, having talked up the place to him and he was excited to try it. We ordered a whole chicken, cut up. But what we got was a bunch of rubbery white meat that seemed to have been old. There were no discernible parts at all, just random chunks. The meal took a long time to arrive as well, making me wonder if they had run out of freshly cooked chicken and had to figure out a solution. Very embarrassing.

If you've read my reviews of other jerk places you'll know that I take this stuff very seriously. Do I require pimento wood? No. Do I require Scotch Bonnet peppers? YES! Ain't got no SB peppers, ain't got no jerk. Even worse...we asked if they use SB peppers and they said yes. Look, my dudes, if you're gonna fib about an ingredient, don't make it an ingredient that is so easily identifiable in a dish. Also...the word "jerk" is in your name. Do it right. Now...was the chicken tasty? Sure. It was tender and flavorful and I'd be happy if I'd made it myself. But there's not a single Jamaican on this planet that would categorize this as jerk chicken. I'll probably go back to check out the curry goat...fingers crossed.

Customer service was 10/10. There was a wait and the owner acknowledged that by greeting us and saying I will be right with you. So my cousin ordered the coco bread, jerk wings, 1/4 chicken with cabbage rice and peas. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with cabbage food was 10/10. The owner came to the outside seating checked in on us and brought beverages. If you like your chicken with a lil crunch and spicy this is the spot for you. Probably my favorite jerk chicken i have had. So if you thinking about going I say do it.

I was soooooo excited to try jerk chicken from a place called the "jerk house". To my unfortunate disappointment, the food was MID at best. "Jerk Chicken" - This was chicken with jerk sauce. Not real jerk chicken. Very disappointing. If you are going to call yourself Jerk House, your jerk chicken should be top notch. The curry goat was watery and bland. On top of that I got more potatoes than goat.

We ordered the curry goat and jerk shrimp. Both dishes were tasty. The curry goat had the authentic flavors. The service was pleasant, and the atmosphere was very casual that is an open door seating area.

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend this place!!! There are Jamaicans everywhere turning over in their graves behind a place called the jerk house that has no real jerk....(sucks teeth in Jamaican tone). I ordered the jerk pork and they used pork loin. Who uses pork loin to make jerk pork. On top of it, it looked like they just cooked it in the oven and slapped some semblance of jerk seasoning on it. My wife ordered the jerk chicken. It was dry like the desert. My wife took a bite and I swear the chicken sucked all the water out of her body. Again, this is NOT real Jamaican food. Don't waste your money here. Not worth it at all. Damn shame, I was craving Jamaican too. Oh well, going to get tacos since I'm not eating this tonight.

If I could give zero stats I would. I should have read the reviews first, don't waste your money! My entire order was over $75, before tip, for a plate of oxtail, two juices, and two 6 packs and it was definitely not worth it. Advertising itself as "authentic" Jamaican food is an absolute joke! The oxtail was mostly bone and had no flavor beyond its natural meat taste. The rice and peas were dry and bland, no coconut flavor or spice in the slightest. The cabbage was also a disappointment, bland and not a hint of spice. The juices are advertised as $3.50 but I was charged $8 each, an absolute scam. Take heed and save your money, you're better off at Negril.

Allot of of important things to notice here. First and foremost, how do you have a jerk house with ZERO smell coming out of the place? No smoke, no flavor, nothing to reel you in! Upon waking in you are greeted with a countertop and solid trap door that closes off the kitchen..almost like they are hiding something back there lol I ordered what should be their staple winner, but was a disaster from the start..JERK CHICKEN platter. My first observation was the chicken was COLD inside, and warm on the outside as if it had been microwaved and covered in sauce to attempt at giving it moisture. It was inedible. The cabbage was ok good texture but not much flavor. Rice and peas were decent. Serving chicken from your fridge that is god knows how many days old is unacceptable. They made their outdoor area look inviting, and they sell beer. But they desperately need a new chef or this place is toast. Get some smoke pouring out of there and serve freshly cooked food!!!! Have y'all been to Wheaton?!? Pollo Rico? The entire town smells like chicken. Get it together!

I just ate the best salad of my entire life... their jerk salmon salad... huge cut of salmon that was grilled and jerked to perfection... crispy greens and cabbage... and exotic bell peppers (in some sort of plum sauce). Generous portion size (only got through half). Prior to today, their jerk pork was top of my list. But now I will have to flip a coin to decide. 10 out of 10.

It took a minute to figure out how to enter the place. I parked in the parking lot next to their patio seating. There is a zippered entry that I saw someone walk out of. That was my queue. I entered the store and it looked more like a beer and wine store with just a little Jamaican decor. I joked with the cashier that she didn't look like she was from Jamaica. I told her I was going to try out a couple dishes to compare to my favorite Jamaican restaurant (Negril) in Silver Spring. I ordered the 1/4 Dark Jerk Chicken and the Curried Goat entrees and a side of Plantain. Now the review. The chicken was a bit dry and had no jerk sauce. It did have some minor jerk seasoning, but was far from anything close to authentic Jerk. The rice was plentiful and flavorful. The Mac and Cheese was good but oily. The Colloroo (collard greens) were bland at best. The Curried Goat had decent flavor but could step it up. With Negril being 10 minutes away, I cannot recommend this place unless you want to have a decent selection of beers.

They are stealing your money. How is it ok to charge someone 9+ $$$ for a 32 oz beer! That is robbery!!! I can go to 3 other beer store and get 2 32oz Corona Extra for that exact price or even less!

Cabbage & jerk salmon salad was delicious! Jerk pork was really good too. What would be awesome is if they would make homemade salad dressing. Festival was good-no sugar. Overall everything was well done. The only thing I didn't love was the Dominican appetizer platter picadera, but that might just be me!

Don't piss in my face and tell me it's raining As I drive down 495 towards Virginia, I am annoyed by the bait and switch I just received I ordered a Beef Patty, a Beef pastelito and a cola champagne. On the menu behind the cashier and, whom I presume is either the owner or the manager, it clearly says pastelitos three dollars. Bottled soda $2.75 and no price for beef patties. While I was expecting to pay whatever the menu says things cost, I was not expected to be charged a custom amount for my soda of $3.75. Four dollars for my paselito and five dollars for my beef Patty. Annoyed by the up charge, I'll ask why does your menu have a different price at what you're charging me and no answer was given to me, nonetheless, I already made the trip to make the patronage, and I grudgingly paid. I really don't feel good about this experience, and to be honest, only on principle, I will not come back and specifically on principle I am writing this negative review. If your price says it is X amount of dollars that's what you should charge me and your customers. If I ask you, why are you charging me more? You should give an explanation and not toss it off to the side. The icing on the cake for me was the manager or owner asking me if I want to cocoa bread with my beef patty. After he overcharged me two dollars and didn't give me an explanation why Keep the two little dollars that you guys overcharge me A negative review is priceless. With so many other options in that FourCorners corridor, it is a shame that I was beat and switched Are experiences like mine today are the types of experiences that make first time customers not want to come back Beef patties were very good but definitely not worth the five dollars. A cola champagne for $3.75? I'll absolutely pass next time. Beef pastelito (Dominican style) was mid at best. Beef was dry, a tad bit sour and needed sauce Only one star. Came here for lunch after a trip. The lounge where you can sit down and eat was not available for some reason the day I went. The esthetics were nice, and I think it would be a nice place to grab a bite to eat when it gets warmer. The service was good and did not have any complaints. I got the curry goat combo with rice and peas and plantains. It was solid, nothing to write home about, tho. The jerk pork combo with rice and peas and plantains was ok. I think the pork is sliced a little too thick in my onion. The rice and peas were solid, and so were the plantains surprising. Normally, they don't like the way they do plantains at Jamaican places cause I prefer the way nigerians make it where it's sliced thinner. Also, I got the jerk wings, and they were delicious. I would definitely recommend them for sure. Also, the feel of this place kinda has a budget liqour store vibe as well. They also have red stripe as well. Overall, I had a good experience and would recommend it.

Food is really good. You definitely get a bang for your buck. I ordered the classic stewed chicken, w/ rice & peas and plantain. Let me tell you, this is our new Jamaican spot. And you get order your drinks/wine or beer at the same time inside. The seating patio is real nice. They provide two TVs where you can watch the day's game(s) (football, soccer, basketball). They brought out our food to us and we decided to eat there. Excited to make this spot our new Jamaican food go-to.

Very disappointing. I ordered jerk chicken-dark meat, it was dry and flavorless. No spice and very little seasoning. It's hard to make dark meat dry but this was, it was either really over cooked or had been cooked much earlier in the day. The rice and peas were the same. I was looking forward to a good meal but ended up throwing most of it in the trash.

The place is very nice, ambiance is wonderful, and customer service great. The staff and owner are very courteous. The food is very tasty, but the portion size was a little disappointing for me. I bought food from there for my family for Christmas, and spent quite a bit of money, but the portions were underwhelming. The oxtails were mostly bones for the price, even the curry goat was small. The sides were sufficient, but the actual meal was very disappointing. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and return, for the other reasons I stated before, but hopefully, they will improve a little bit with the portions. I have been to other Jamaican restaurants in the area where the ambiance and service weren't as great, but the food was tasty and sufficient. I could get at least two meals from it. They totally redeemed themselves with the taste and service. Oh, the best part was the cucumber ginger drink. I had it for the first time and loved it. I will be getting more of that.

They opened last week. I've have 7 different items already. Four you will see in the items and others were the chicken soup, cow foot soup, beef patty, and curry chicken patty. As a Jamaican, they have the right team in the kitchen. There is no sit down area inside. There is a hangout type of seating on the outside with a sport bar type set up. They are not doing working on the location and their grand opening is in the future. The soup runs out quick so it is best to order. The only think I say is missing from the meals is that touch of coconut milk or creme. Overall the food marinated and cooked to authenticity of a true Jamaican meal. I will return again. As they continue with business, I will change it to 5 stars as the consistency of quality and authenticity is important.

Recently opened up in Silver Spring! This had me excited because this spot is only about 5 minutes from me. I want to say they have been open for almost a month now. Ordered takeout online from here and got the Jerk Shrimp with Mac & cheese. Now I did get a side of rice and peas and I didn't realize it already came with rice and peas, I thought it was only one side. They have a nice patio on the outside you can eat your food and watch a game. The inside sells wine and beer where you pick up your food. The people there are very nice and friendly, you can tell they want you to come back. The jerk shrimp was very good and spicy (I liked the spice) however, for the price, I was expecting there to be more shrimp and less rice and peas. The shrimp was in the side compartment and rice and peas was in the front. I think this was my only complaint about this place, Portions of the shrimp could've been better. Now, the rice and peas were delicious, a lot of times the Rice and peas I've tired lacked flavor, not this one, I really liked it so I didn't mind the extra serving on the side. Additionally, the Mac and cheese was really good too! Seasoned well, great texture, cheesy and not burnt at all. I will definitely be back to try something more of their food but probably won't get the shrimp due to portions.

Beef patties are very good, didn't have anything else but patties are worth going back for.

Cabbage was hard and crunchy ( undercooked ) Asked for extra sauce on my curry shrimp didn't receive but the rice and peas were fresh

Great hidden gem in the area. Amazing food tried jerk chicken, chicken stew and goat curry. Left empty plates and with happy full stomachs!

Excited to come out of yelp hiding to write about this place. Saw it while driving by, it used to be the Fresh grill (greek and gyros) place. Got take out , jerk chicken with rice, beans and salad. The jerk chicken was tasty and slightly crispy. White fluffy rice and the beans!! With pieces of pumpkin, just delicious and comforting. Give it a try! So excited that Jamaican is in the neighborhood.
