Peckham’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Peckham and Peckham Rye | Eater London

"Peckham is full of opportunistic and peripatetic vendors, particularly in the more bronzed months when the heat lures barbecuers from their gardens to the street. Jerk chicken tends to be the usual currency ─ on weekends it’s possible to find blink-and-miss-them set-ups on Rye Lane and Bleinheim Grove. More recently, a stall called Jerk Up has taken a more permanent spot on Rye Lane, opposite Choumert Road, only selling jerk chicken with various sides (rice and peas, coleslaw, festival) or curry goat. The chicken is the best in the area outside of JB’s, tender with just the right amount of pink blush, spicy enough to leave a prickle on the lips, but not enough that you’ll turn down the dollop of pepper sauce." - Jonathan Nunn

Visited for the first time yesterday and I knew from the smell coming from the Kitchen that my food was going to be BUSSIN' and Indeed it was! Very tasty, nice portion curry chicken dinner (eldest son wanted seconds!) The home made slaw..only regret is that I didnt buy 2 pots!! Very delighted and will be back to try the ox tail!! Very warm service and Mama Jerk Up ❤️ I could have just taken her home with me! such a sweetie. Loved the subtle music and the professional service - compliments 100% to the Chef 👌🏾

Oh my gosh!! That was amazing! We had jerk chicken, curried chicken, rice and peas. We would have loved to have tried the ackee and salt fish but this dish had sold out (must be good). Anyway, we enjoyed it so much we are counting down the hours till dinner tomorrow! The service was great and the gentleman I spoke to when making the order was just lovely. Highly recommend. Thank you for a real treat tonight 🥰

I would love to try the food, but the 2-star food hygiene rating is holding me back...(3 star) Thrilled to see the new food hygiene rating as of 26 March 2025, from a 2 to an impressive 4 which is Good. I am looking forward to sampling the food as the reviews speak for themselves…(4 star)

Went to St Ives last weekend and had a delicious meal here! Realistically this is a very small kitchen, tucked away in some member's club (we think? not sure?). The guy running the kitchen was very friendly and his food was very nice, clearly very popular locally. (The prices were very good too - cash only when we went because his card machine wasn't working.)

This little gem is certainly not what it first seems to be. Tucked away in the Ivy Leaf Club is a small serving hatch behind which authentic quality Jamaican food is prepared and cooked. The Ackee and Saltfish I had was simply delicious and great value. Talking to the chef afterwards it was clear that he knew his cuisine and how to balance the flavours and spice. Highly recommended for those who love Carribean food and also for those who are prepared to try something new. You will not be disappointed.
