The 13 Best Restaurants In Deptford - London - The Infatuation

"Jerk Yard is a no-nonsense jerk chicken specialist that’s one of our favourite places to get a takeaway lunch in the area. Whether it’s a salad box with jerk chicken—and a cheeky helping of fried plantain—or a smoky jerk chicken wrap that’s always better with extra chicken, it’s a satisfying meal for under a tenner. Although it’s a tight space—tucked into Deptford Arches—there are a couple of indoor tables where you can snack on a beef and cheese patty while you wait for your main meal, and an outdoor hut with enough space for a small group." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, sinead cranna, daisy meager

Jerk Yard Review - Review - Deptford - London - The Infatuation

"A small spot in Deptford Arches, Jerk Yard is a no-nonsense jerk chicken specialist that’s one of our favourite places to get a takeaway lunch in the area. Good Vibez Jerk Centre - Review - Deptford - London - The Infatuation

"You’ll quickly get where Good Vibez’s name comes from when you take one spoonful of its steaming hot, lazily tender curry goat on a dreary Wednesday lunchtime. The Caribbean spot on Deptford High Street is a favourite among locals—teenagers stop in for a quick cheesy beef patty, workers for a chat and a lunchbox heaving with rice and peas. The food is homely and flavoursome, with standouts being a fruity homemade jerk sauce and that patiently stewed curry goat. If you aren’t in a rush there’s a counter and a few tables and chairs to pitch up and dig in. It’s a basic but comfortable setup and a sofa in a takeaway is always going to be met with our approval. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Jake Missing

I’ve never tried Caribbean food before and it was super amazing. I had Jollof Rice, which was lovely and definitely down to come back soon

If you are craving a burger early in the morning this is the place to be. I was out looking to eat some “meaningful” food for breakfast instead of a croissant or eggs for once. Found this cafe open and got a jerk chicken burger, at 7.30 am in the morning. The burger was juicy and flavourful, great start to my day indeed. As for the service, i was gonna do a take away but he was kind enough to turn the heating on for me so I could enjoy my food fresh. Decent experience that I never saw coming.

Had the Jerk Chicken rice and peas and plantain. It was tasty but lacked a bit of seasoning and depth in my opinion. There was no option of coleslaw on the menu which is a bit of a let down when it comes to Jamaican food. They do however have a crunchy lettuce type salad to go along side your dish. Small menu with not too many options tbh. Overall satisfied.

I didn’t have high expectations. I just needed some food, but I was extremely surprised. I got the Jollof rice with vegan soy strips. It came with salad and plantain. But omg the salad had a mango tasting dressing, paired with the spicy soy and the rice was juicy. As a vegan who struggles to find decent food I’d come back again. Decently priced too! I took a picture but it doesn’t do it justice.

Got the chicken + rice. Just off a 30 hour flight and needed protein, was perfect. Great taste

The positive reviews led me to Jerk Yard. Utterly disappointed because the food was objectively dissatisfying. I don’t usually leave reviews because they’re relative and subjective (which I understand more now after my experience with Jerk Yard). The “sweet” plantain was not sweet at all and tasted stale and dry. The rice n peas was blend. The oxtail was not flavourful. The meat itself was almost tender. But it had no flavour. And it was put in the same dish as the rice, by the time I got home the oxtail soup had been soaked up by the rice. Even the side salad was underwhelming. The people who served me were friendly. Definitely not returning.

We were passing by Jerk Yard and decided to try it one evening. The flavours of the meal were great, the chicken felt slightly overcooked. The loaded fries were a great addition to the meal. If you like spicy food, if recommended adding the spicy pepper sauce. Would like to go back to try other items from the menu.
