The 14 Best Restaurants In Deptford

"Jerk Yard is a no-nonsense jerk chicken specialist that’s one of our favourite places to get a takeaway lunch in the area. Whether it’s a salad box with jerk chicken—and a cheeky helping of fried plantain—or a smoky jerk chicken wrap that’s always better with extra chicken, it’s a satisfying meal for under a tenner. Although it’s a tight space—tucked into Deptford Arches—there are a couple of indoor tables where you can snack on a beef and cheese patty while you wait for your main meal, and an outdoor hut with enough space for a small group. Had the Jerk Chicken rice and peas and plantain. It was tasty but lacked a bit of seasoning and depth in my opinion. There was no option of coleslaw on the menu which is a bit of a let down when it comes to Jamaican food. They do however have a crunchy lettuce type salad to go along side your dish. Small menu with not too many options tbh. Overall satisfied.

I didn’t have high expectations. I just needed some food, but I was extremely surprised. I got the Jollof rice with vegan soy strips. It came with salad and plantain. But omg the salad had a mango tasting dressing, paired with the spicy soy and the rice was juicy. As a vegan who struggles to find decent food I’d come back again. Decently priced too! I took a picture but it doesn’t do it justice.

£2.50 for a pattie that’s flat with a tasteless paste that has no chunks of lamb in it and looked nothing like the ones displayed. Don’t even know what they’ve given me in the end that it ended up in the bin. By far the worst pattie i’ve ever had and imm disappointed.

The positive reviews led me to Jerk Yard. Utterly disappointed because the food was objectively dissatisfying. I don’t usually leave reviews because they’re relative and subjective (which I understand more now after my experience with Jerk Yard). The “sweet” plantain was not sweet at all and tasted stale and dry. The rice n peas was blend. The oxtail was not flavourful. The meat itself was almost tender. But it had no flavour. And it was put in the same dish as the rice, by the time I got home the oxtail soup had been soaked up by the rice. Even the side salad was underwhelming. The people who served me were friendly. Definitely not returning.

Jerk chicken wrap was top tier! Guys behind the counter were awesome, good vibes and nice to eat on the Deptford Market terrace. Will be back!

The jerk chicken leg was flavourful, smoky, and paired perfectly with the jollof rice. It was delicious—if a tad oily. £12.

Had a lovely experience here. There was 7 of us and we had an amazing time. Food was spectacular and the flavours were immaculate. The gaot curry was melt in your mouth. The chips were perfectly cooked. Jerk chicken was spicy but packed with flavour, the good kind of spice😋. Totally worth it if your in the area. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Couldn't ask for a better evening.

Great jerk chicken! Loved sitting out side and taking it all in. The server was friendly and helpful. The chicken is spicy and you can go for even more spicy if you want it. Prices were fair for the amount of food received, drinks were also decently priced.
