I visited from Florida and was really looking forward to trying their oxtail Philly cheesesteak, but unfortunately they were out of oxtails that day. It turns out this is a common issue based on other reviews, and you’ll notice when you walk in that they update the menu daily with what’s available.
The food is on the pricier side, but to be fair, it’s absolutely delicious and the portions are huge. I had the jerk cheese sticks and the jerk chicken cheesesteak rolls, along with a drink, and my total came to about $30. Honestly, for the quality and amount of food, I thought it was worth it.
The flavor was incredible and the side sauces were some of the most unique I’ve ever tasted. That said, if you’re not into spicy food, be warned. The jerk chicken is seriously spicy. I love African and Jamaican food, and I’ve had plenty of jerk, but this was hands down the hottest I’ve ever had. The flavor was fantastic, but the heat was so intense I could only finish two of the four rolls. I didn’t want to risk an upset stomach later, and yes, it really was that hot.
Customer service was excellent. The woman who took my order was super friendly, as were the kitchen staff and a man I assumed to be the owner or manager. The wait was a bit long. I ordered at 1:40 PM and got my food at 2:17 PM, but everything was made fresh and that tradeoff is totally worth it.
The spot itself is really small with no real space to sit and eat, so be prepared to take your order to go. Otherwise, I highly recommend trying them out. Hopefully you get to try the oxtails, and if you do, just know I’ll be over here jealous.
