The New Atlanta Restaurant Openings You Should Know About - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Brookhaven gets a grain bowl spot with Jamaican staples. All of our favorites are on the menu, including jerk chicken, plantains, escovitch fish, and a rum punch. Bring on the heat. This one just made our Hit List." - juli horsford, jacinta howard

Jerks Caribbean Grill - Review - Brookhaven - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Jerks Caribbean Grill is a fast-casual, build-your-own-bowl establishment with Jamaican staples. Of course, you can go the more traditional meat-and-sides route: Pick your protein like their juicy jerk chicken and sides like collard greens doused in pepper sauce or a mac and cheese that’s so good we wish we could order it by the tray. But the fun is in the signature bowls, where you get that jerk chicken mixed with ground lamb, rice, chunky sweet potatoes, and a punchy chimichurri. These are not modest portions, and the operation moves quickly, so Jerks is a wise stop when you want to get in and out with a satisfying stretch on your waistband. Food Rundown Caribbean Muscle At $15, this is where you get the most bang for your buck. You can barely see the quinoa and brown rice over a heaping portion of meat. While the ground lamb could stand a tad more seasoning, the juicy jerk chicken and drizzle of herby chimichurri pull all the weight to flavor the rest of the bowl. And if that wasn’t enough, chunks of sweet potato make this even more filling. photo credit: Amy Sinclair One Love Unless you’re looking for a vegan option, we’d say skip this. The tofu is nicely battered and fried on the outside, but the inside is unseasoned and unmarinated like it came straight from the block. The honey ginger glaze is a little too sweet, so it starts to feel overwhelming after a few bites. photo credit: Nina Reeder Whole Red Snapper Although this is one of the priciest menu options at $35, you do get a one-pound whole snapper and two sides, which is more food than we’ve had at plenty of sit-down spots serving the same thing. The fish is scored and fried, so you get that perfectly crispy, chewy skin with moist and flaky meat near the bone. If you’re not eating this right away, ask for the pickled pepper and onions on the side since it’ll seep through the paper to-go box, and that peppery-vingeary mix is what makes this escovitch a winner. photo credit: Amy Sinclair Mac And Cheese Mac and cheese is treated as a vegetable side around these parts (it is, just what it is—we don’t make the rules). But this is the type of mac we’d gladly have as an entree. It’s a baked mac that doesn’t suffer the soupy, waterlogged fate that most cafeteria-style macs encounter, so the cheese lovely clings to tender macaroni noodles. And there are some subtle savory, garlicky seasonings that bring an extra layer of warmth to the dish. photo credit: Amy Sinclair Collard Greens Be prepared for a little heat with these tender greens, so the pepper sauce disciples should try it first before they blindly douse on more. We’re happy with it as is, but with a bite of mac and sip of sorrel in between to cool things off. photo credit: Amy Sinclair" - Nina Reeder

Google
Jerk’s is a decent place to get good Jamaican food locally! Sure there may not be many options, but their quality is an actually quite impressive. For their bowls they FILL it to the brim and don’t scam you out of the protein (Chipotle I’m looking at you!) My one gripe, however, would be their pricing; everything feels high especially add-ons. Great place to check out with family if you’re ready to spend a little more than usual

Google
The Ox tail was very tasty. The portion size is very large and I got 2 meals from it. The prices felt a bit high even for Brookhaven but I understand Ox tail isn't cheap these days. The packaging was environmentally friendly and works as both a plate and take away container. I thought the atmosphere could have been better. Most of the people ate quickly and left or got take out.

Google
New spot! Really good! Called the “Caribbean Chipotle” for good reason! The portions are huge and pretty well priced. The jerk chicken is perfection and they give you so much of it! I am not sure if it was the pineapple salsa or the black bean corn medley (I think salsa), but one of them was extremely spicy- which I didn’t love so I would stay away if you don’t like lots of heat. Also they were pretty slow- only taking orders through their kiosk. The workers (who I were kind) were kinda just standing around which was frustrating given the number of people waiting for their food. Other than that this place was really good and I will definitely be returning.

Google
This place is ok, the wait was too long especially because most of the food is already made. No refills on non fountain drinks like the lemonade. Most Jamaican restaurants don’t charge extra for plantains they do. The build your own bowl portion are really small. The portions are extremely to small. Oxtail didn’t taste the best and the empanadas was super tiny. Dope concept but wouldn’t come back here again.

Google
I've ordered thru Uber Eats twice. 1st time Rasta Pasta Xtra sauce..very peppery not so.much spicy just peppery. I added sauté spinach & coconut milk to balance the seasoning. $22 decent quantity 2nd order was 2 jerks bowl a lot of chicken but only 3 shrimps. Decent amount of meat but No rice. The plantains were delicious. A bit pricey but I always eat twice from 1 meal. I wish you will tape/staple the bag when ordering to protect our food. That's why only 3 stars each time my bag was open. Not Good!

Google
The food was great. I arrived after9 pm and they were out of shrimp. They provided extra chicken to make up for that, however the chicken was cold. Everything else was tasty and warm. It is disappointing that the cups for water are tiny.

Shanice C.

Google
Don’t believe the hype. There are better Caribbean food spots than this. I’ve never seen jerk chicken served without skin on the chicken. The jerk is entirely too spicy as if they added more spice to compensate in the lack of flavor. The plantains were good.

Google
Oh my goodness, this is absolutely the BEST Caribbean restaurant I’ve ever been to from Washington, DC to Atlanta, GA! I’ve been twice and have tried the Oxtails w/ rice and peas and Mac & Cheese. Also, just tried the Jerk Pasta with Chicken and Shrimp. Both dishes will be pictured. I wanted to try something different the 2nd time to make sure it wasn’t just a lucky one off. This place is the truth. Inside and outside seating. Easy ordering. Polite and friendly staff. Great portions. A variety of different Caribbean and fusion dishes. I’m so glad I live close by. I will be a returning customer for sure.

Yelp
I love this place! I love the sister restaurant chef robs from back in the day as well! It's in town center Brookhaven and it is pretty much like chipotle but CARIBBEAN! So obviously better! It's a chill vibe with wall seating and buffet style (like chipotle). So you order and then pay at the end of the line. I ordered the menu item "2 Jerks" and baby it was jerking! I mean nose running and sniffling! I had chicken and shrimp and baby I won't be ordering it again because I couldn't take the heat! But I ate every last bite along with rice and plantain and my delicious sorrel because it was just that good! A must try and I WILL be back for other menu items! There's plenty of parking and I'm so happy this place exists! Definitely go try!

Yelp
Quick Review: I'm glad I tried it but it's not the best. Flavor could be better and the prices should be cheaper. I need Jamaican food made with love! The idea of Jerks is great. It's in a great neighborhood and the menu is one of its kind. Depending on what you order, it could be done in a few minutes! This is my second time trying Jerks and I've concluded food wise it's nothing too special about it. I decided to try the Oxtail plate with a side of rice and peas and Mac and cheese. We also ordered a side of jerk empanadas. This go around they were generous with the servings (especially the oxtail) which I was very happy about. The gravy was more on the savory side and oily than sweet and flavorful. The oxtail were tender. The rice and peas were a bad type of dry and no flavor whatsoever. The Mac wasn't good and I wish it was fresh. We literally waited over 20 minutes for the jerk empanadas. I'm glad it was fresh but it wasn't worth the wait. Two small empanadas with small portions of filling inside. More air than chicken. And the sauce they included was not my favorite. (A sweet and sour style sauce) As we waited for the empanadas, I did look in the resturant and noticed how nice it was. Seating is cool but on a busy day I can see the seating being a problem because the tables are very close. They do have two tables for you to watch tv. The ordering system is good and they give you 3 places to put an order in. Overall the staff is friendly. Will I be back? It depends. Can someone please recommend something good on their menu to try?

Yelp
Okay I decided to give Jerks another try. This time I got the jerk chicken meal/plate. This was a slam dunk for me. The jerk chicken was so tender, moist, and SPICY! Seasoned just right. My sides were cabbage and rice & peas. I got some oxtail gravy and chimichurri sauce on the side and OMG. The cabbage was fresh and the rice and peas were good, especially with the oxtail gravy!!!! If you aren't a true spicy fan, be cautious because the jerk sauce is spicy--and that's me being nice because I don't even think it's THAT spicy. You can definitely taste the scotch bonnet for sure. So beware if you can't take the spice. This jerk chicken plate made up for the first experience I had when I got the 2 jerks bowl. Still a little disappointed they don't use the jerk chicken they use for the jerk chicken plates for the bowls (it just doesn't taste or look the same), but I guess if that's how they do it. My order also didn't take 15-20 mins this time. There were more people behind the counter making the orders. I'm still confused on why the layout is how it is (it looks cafeteria or chipotle style like you order at the counter and move your way down toward the register) but all I really cared about was my food being better than last time. I will be upgrading my 3.5 starts to 4 only due to prices--it was basically $30 with a tip (and no drink), and I feel like they're kind of stingy with the sauces (an additional $1) for a small side cup of sauce.

Yelp
I've ordered Jerks on Door Dash and enjoyed my meal. Today I went to the restaurant. The service was fast and great! We ordered a bowl with braised beef oxtail and the mango chicken. The bowl was filled to the top and not skimpy at all.

Yelp
Jerks is a casual spot with a handful of dining tables. The food is absolutely delicious!! Of 4 adults and 1 child in our party....everyone throughly enjoyed each dish including Jerk chicken, oxtails, a curry bowl and the Sorrel was so good. Jerks is very clean, staff was certain to clean and wipe down tables as guests left the dining room. They receive a lot of takeout orders and if there's one thing I could suggest, it would be more sturdy to go containers. If you like Caribbean food and haven't been, get to Jerks you wont be disappointed.

Yelp
Came in on a rainy Sunday afternoon! Parking: it is located in a large Brookhaven plaza with many other shops. On the day I went, there was plenty of parking out front but be prepared to park far or in the parking deck around the corner on a busier, sunnier day. I believe parking is free in the deck, it's definitely free in the shop parking! Service: when I walked in, I wasn't greeted or directed on how to order. Because they only take orders via the kiosk, I think this would be a good direction. Because social media deemed them the 'Jamaican chipotle' I can't be the only one who assumed you ordered at the counter/food line. Experience: After ordering on the kiosk, they make your food and bring you your trey if you decide to dine in. There were about 4 tables inside and about 6 tables outside. Unfortunately, it was raining, and all of the other tables were taken by other diners so we ended up having to eat in the car which was a bummer! Quiet, casual vibe inside. Food: They had food offerings from jerk lamb chops to customized bowls to choose from. Definitely a more innovative menu than the traditional Jamaican fare. HOWEVER I was quite surprised to not see any cabbage/vegetables that you'd see traditionally with a Jamaican meal (unless I overlooked it). I got the build-a-bowl with rice & peas, jerk chicken, plantain, cheese, cucumber, and a corn mixture, and topped with jerk sauce. Left a lot to be desired flavor wise imo .. was expecting a grilled taste from the chicken but it just seemed like grilled chicken and jerk sauce on my bowl. portions were generous though! We both also got a side of Mac & cheese. Great portion and the highlight of my meal, I really enjoyed it. I'd go back and try their pasta. Price: Both meals w/ drinks and 2 sides of Mac & cheese came to about $50. Drinks: I didn't get a cocktail, but was impressed to see they offered different beer and alcoholic beverages!

Yelp
We enjoyed everything we ordered to go from here! Didn't get to take a lot of pictures because we were so ready to eat! I ordered fish and plantains along with jerk chicken and shrimp pasta. The fish was crispy and seasoned well. The plantains were just right as I'm a bit picky about the flavor of a plantain. It wasn't overly sweet, so they cooked it well for its ripeness. Couldn't resist trying the jerk chicken empanadas as well which were crispy and filled well with peppers, cheese, and chicken. Would definitely get it again! My partner bought a chicken bowl. It was very filling and it felt like he got more than the price, which is great. It was spicy in a good way and well seasoned. The bowl was packed with the individual ingredients he added. Taste great and large portion! Think Chipotle bowl but better! He also ordered beef stew with mac and cheese. Looks delicious but haven't tried yet since the bowl is so filling. Looking forward to going back and trying even more meals. Thank you!

Yelp
First off...3.5 stars. Viewing this location on social media and content creators hype it and they show the experience of being similar to "chipotle" as in walking through and building your bowl...we didn't have that experience and didn't see anyone do that either. You order at the kiosk. The food was mid but it wasn't something I would drive back for. The honey ginger sauce and plantain were the best things on my plate. Everyone was courteous at the spot. The place doesn't have much seating. Be mindful if you are expecting to eat there. I would suggest stopping by if in the area for your own experience.

Yelp
At the time of my visit I heard a lot of good things about Jerk's. I am always looking for new restaurants to try out in the area. I enjoyed the cleanliness of the restaurant and the way the staff greeting me when I walked in. I was told that I could place my order at one of the two touchscreens. This was helpful because I didn't know what to expect since it was my first visit. I ordered the Rasta Pasta, Vegetarian Chili, and Veggie Plate (Mac n Cheese, Plantains, Re Mashed Potatoes). Everything tasted better than I anticipated. I will visit Jerk's again!

Yelp
The food was pretty good, not the best I've had but definitely better than most other Jamaican cuisine around the city! The wife Ns kids really liked it also! We will be back when we're in the Lenox area and want Jamaican.

Yelp
Super excited to have this delicious Jamaican restaurant in my backyard. Think of it as the quick service version of Jamaican food (Chipotle, Panera, etc) and the flavors are on point!!! I thought they'd be Americanized but they are deep rich flavors in every bite. I had the jerk chicken & shrimp bowl and it was big enough for 2 days of eating. The service is self serve or limited service. The seating is open both inside and out, so flexible for groups or just popping by to grab a quick bite. I hope they get a liquor license but the beer and wine selections are pretty good for now.

Yelp
Came here to try this new spot since its owned by chef robs and I like their food. I ordered oxtails, mac&cheese and cabbage. The food was good. However, I didnt love the packaging. Its paper so its easily soaked by juices from the food and there are no separate compartments so everything is mixing. I'd go back but I might request things be packaged separately.

Yelp
I've been very excited for this place to open ever since I saw the signage last year! Finally, tonight, my boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner. AMBIANCE The ambiance is trendy and relaxed. It's a small space with limited seating indoors and outdoors. Most customers seem to take their items to go, but we dined outside on the porch for a casual date night! SERVICE Everyone was kind and welcoming to us. The girls at the register were friendly and in good spirits. After we finished our meal, as I thanked them and told them that everything was amazing (I'm sorry I did not catch their names; I'll have to get them on our next visit), the girl who had taken our orders smiled a beautiful smile, said thank you, and told us she would see us next time. This simple little interaction honestly brightened my day. FOOD We shared a vegan chili and each did a create-a-bowl. For mine, I got the following: BASE: rice and peas; PROTEIN: jerk shrimp; HOT TOPPINGS: black bean corn relish & sautéed root vegetables; COLD TOPPINGS: pineapple salsa; SAUCE: mango habanero. Everything was so tasty, with just the right amount of spice! The shrimp was the softest, juiciest shrimp I think I've ever had. All of the ingredients I chose came together so nicely. My boyfriend loved his selections as well. Additionally, the chili we shared was thick and flavorful with a nice spice kick. After we finished our meal, my boyfriend also brought his mom an order of fish and chips to go. She enjoyed hers as well! We will be back!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this location since I had a great experience in Miami. Staff: All looked confused bunched up over the register where they wanted you to order instead of the the illuminated sign on the opposite end of the counter where the food is displayed. The one staff member who served food with no gloves, handled money and tended to her 2 yr old child who was in the customer seating area - eating a sandwich from Potbelly's. Why is your job also your day care? This was 9pm - why is a two year old still up and eating at a table for customers. Totally dysfunctional. Staff hovered over your food while tying to determine who's order was whose; and did I mention the smoke filled dining area so much that they had to keep the door open to let out the smoke from the kitchen. But wait, there's more: Food: Terrible from the portion size to the presentation. Greens were horrible; tasted like they were washed in dish water or the pot they were boiled still had soap; undercooked, and 0% turkey meat in them (see pic). Oxtail oil also featured in this pic. Oxtail - tiny, more bones than meat. Mashed potatoes were cold, but they tasted ok. Lamb chops (3) lollipops - 1 well done, 1 med well, 1 burnt. The oil based Chimichurri was overwhelmingly oily (same as oxtail); how do you mess up Rice & Peas? Over salt them! Mac & Cheese was ok, lumpy cheese and over cooked noodles, but the portion size was so small, barely got a real assessment of them. I would give a positive review of the restaurant itself but the 2 yr old sitting in the dining area where Mom came from behind the counter and Dad came out of the kitchen really took away from the expected ambience. $84 dollars wasted and they have the nerve to have a suggested tip menu on the register. I doubt this restaurant will be there a year from now - especially if the staff continues to bring their kids to work and the obvious lack of a manager will only frustrate and turn off dining customers.

Yelp

Yelp
This place just recently opened (Feb 2025), so I had to give it a try. There are options to order online or via Toast, but I chose to walk in and order in person. The service was super fast. It's a very casual spot with limited seating, making it a great option for a quick meal. The menu features various takes on Caribbean favorites like jerk meats and pasta. I opted for a "create your own bowl" with jerk chicken and plantains as my hot topping. The portion size was modest, but the pricing was fair, and the flavors were on point--smoky, spicy, and balanced with the sweetness of the plantains. If you're looking for something casual with great flavor and quick service, this is definitely worth a try. I'm looking forward to returning and trying the jerk pasta next time!

Yelp
This place is so good, they be hooking me up with the oxtail too, they're in a really nice neighborhood so palm people be eating sticks and stones around there and don't even go in but one day I went in with my friends and now I'm in and out of there. I had to stop myself Cause I need to budget. People sleep on this place but you know what good! Cause more food for me :) 100/100 you can eat inside, or outside or take it to go. I have to hide myself a little because I think they're starting to recognize me each time I go in there cause I been going often omg

Ayriana L.

Yelp
For starters, the food was disappointing. The chicken was totally overcooked and not tender. The rice and peas simply tasted like white rice. I would rate it a 5/10. However. I found a piece of metal in my bowl the next day after warming and starting to eat my food. I actually bit into it. That is completely unacceptable. It could've blown up in my microwave or cut my insides. Wouldn't go here again.

Yelp
The plantains were amazing, perfect amount of crispiness on the outside and soft on the inside. 5/5 The jerk chicken looked very seasoned, but highly lacked flavor #disappointed 2/5 The chicken empanadas were expected given the lack of authenticity 2.5/5 If you're not familiar with Jamaican food, I'd say this is an ok start but not my first choice and definitely way pricier than it should be.

Yelp
Been looking for good Jamaican food for a while and my journey continues. Disappointed in the jerk chicken to say the least. Oxtail is pretty good though so definitely choose that over the chicken Rice and peas, bland, mac & cheese bland. Service wise, we ordered through the kiosk, but had a question for one of the ladies up front and received nothing but rudeness. Just ask him if there was a refill got a smart remark. Ambience no most people preferred

Yelp
Excellent service good food mango chicken is really good i never had it before but i would come back for more

Yelp
The experience was excellent. The service was prompt and helpful. The parking was convenient. The food choices and flavors was the best. This is must try restaurant and it will not disappoint.

Yelp
It's in a busy but good location, they were also very busy. It's small and not a bunch of seating but they do also have seats outside. I got the jerk shrimp pasta and I got my son the kids fish fingers and fries. The food was delicious, full of flavor. The pasta was spicy with a nice kick, and my son seemed to enjoy his food. My advice for them is when orders are ready they've got to either call out the name or order numbers or text people's phones. It was just a bunch of people going up to the register checking to see if their orders were ready which is not ideal. The service wasn't bad, the guys were busy but still polite. I will be back to try something else.

Yelp
I recently visited Jerks, a Caribbean Jamaican restaurant in Brookhaven. The food was good and had a nice kick on the spicier side... a little too much for me! The empanadas were SO good and I'd go back just for those. However, the customer service was a bit mediocre. After tipping the girl in the front, before leaving, I asked for an extra sauce and she was talking about charging me... Despite that, I'll probably be back to try more items from their menu.

Yelp
Disappointed is an Understatement... I truly wanted to love Jerks Caribbean Grill... As someone who always aims to support Black-owned businesses--especially those bringing the flavors of the islands to the city--I was rooting for this place before I even walked through the door... Unfortunately, the experience left me with nothing but regret and a lingering taste of underseasoned food... and not in a good way. Let's start with the customer service--or rather, the complete lack of it... The woman who appeared to be the manager was beautiful on the outside, but her attitude? Not so much... She was cold, disengaged, and never made eye contact once... Not even a simple "Welcome in"... It was clear she didn't want to be there, and honestly, it made the whole vibe uncomfortable... The only bright spot in the service experience was the young lady behind the register, who at least managed to be polite. Sanitation was questionable at best... No gloves, no hair nets... and to top it off, two more girls strolled in for their shift, and one casually started her day by sipping from her Stanley cup right behind the food counter... No handwashing... No professionalism... Now let's talk food--or what was supposed to be food... I ordered the jerk bowl with shrimp and chicken, with two sides of macaroni and cheese and collards with turkey... except there was no smoked turkey in the greens... I also ordered two island punches and some empanadas... The entire meal was nasty and wildly underseasoned... definitely not what you'd expect from authentic Jamaican cuisine... After receiving my food, I asked for a little extra sauce/gravy... and was told that would be an additional dollar... even though I was literally placing another order at that moment for more empanadas to go... The nickel-and-diming felt tacky and greedy... The only saving grace? The plantains and the empanadas... They were the only things that had any flavor or care... The $5 island punch wasn't bad either--except the amount you get is equivalent to a kid-sized drink... Not worth it... And the worst part? I left there and still had to go get lunch somewhere else... after spending $70... The most heartbreaking part of this visit? I didn't feel any of the love or warmth that the island is known for... especially from people who look just like me... I wanted so badly to leave a glowing review in support of the ownership and the vision... but I'd be lying if I did... In short... the real "Jerks" were behind the counter and not on my plate... If they don't bring in some friendlier staff and clean up their act both in the kitchen and in hospitality... I don't see this place making it long term... Do better, Jerks!!! ... I really wanted to cheer for you...

Derrick G.

Yelp
Today my wife and I decided to try this restaurant. That was because of the advertised brunch buffet with oxtails. The buffet cost 30.00. If you want oxtails, there's an additional charge of 20.00. I wouldn't have mine paying the extra money had the portion size been larger. I received five very small, the end of tail, oxtails. They taste bland and they didn't come with a refill. The chicken on the buffet was rock hard. I told the server and they did put additional chicken that wasn't as hard. I love chicken and could eat it everyday. That chicken tasted as if it was cooked yesterday, early in the day. It wasn't fresh at all. We did arrive 20 minutes after they opened. I dislike giving bad reviews. I would recommend you only put freshly cooked chicken on the buffet. The favors are definitely there.

Yelp
My daughter and I had a craving for Jamaican food so we stopped by to check it out. We wanted oxtails and were really disappointed they were out of rice and peas. We both got a side of mac n cheese. I ordered greens and she had plantains. The oxtails had great flavor but weren't falling off the bone like they should. The mac n cheese and plantains were really good. My daughter liked the greens but I thought there was something missing. The fruit punch had a think consistency and was a waste of $5. Overall it was good but for the price I expected more.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, this is absolutely the BEST Caribbean restaurant I've ever been to from Washington, DC to Atlanta, GA! I've been twice and have tried the Oxtails w/ rice and peas and Mac & Cheese. Also, just tried the Jerk Pasta with Chicken and Shrimp. Both dishes will be pictured. I wanted to try something different the 2nd time to make sure it wasn't just a lucky one off. This place is the truth. Inside and outside seating. Easy ordering. Polite and friendly staff. Great portions. A variety of different Caribbean and fusion dishes. I'm so glad I live close by. I will be a returning customer for sure.

Yelp
Wow the food is really good ! The bowls are large, I got the CARRIBEAN muscle , soo much protein, it is spicy so watch out for that. The sweet potatoes are such a nice added touch. It was super packed so I suggest ordering ahead online. There's only one tablet to order from which slows everything down but well worth the wait. My fiancé got the oxtail plate and he really enjoyed it. There's some outside seating which is nice; the inside was a bit smokey so I wouldn't recommend eating inside.

Yelp
This place is amazing! We did carry out and I may have just had the best collard greens of my life. Massive portions- greens container was packed but I forgot to grab a picture before serving my toddler. We will be back!

Yelp
I got the 2 jerks (added ground lamb) & empanadas. They were both pretty good they just lack the typical kick jerk usually comes with , flavor is there though

Yelp
4.5 stars. Location is situated right in a shopping center at the heart of Brookhaven close to Costco. Parking garage directly behind the restaurant is no parking is available out front. The outside is a standard shopping center facade and the inside has Caribbean music playing with some nice artwork to make you feel the theme. Be warned there is very minimal seating here, about 4 tables, so be prepared to take your order to go if none are available. There are real live people at the counter but they serve mainly to prepare the dishes and answer questions. The computer screens are used to order your meals so it's all automated. They have plated entrees and bowls (the latter is what lead to their viral moment) I opted for the fruit punch as a beverage and the 2 jerk bowl. It consists of jerk chicken, jerk shrimp , rice and peas , cucumber salsa and fried plantains. I will say that the time it took to get our bowls was a little long and I was a bit perplexed by this because the entire concept is supposed to be "chipotle" style where all the food is already made and it's being scooped into the bowls upon ordering. Once I received my food I began to dig in and at first the spice is mild but boy does it build up. My friend I was with is from Trinidad and even he admitted this was pretty spicy. Not at all a bad thing just something to be aware of. Excellent flavor and lots of protein on the dish and very filling overall. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a quick Jamaican fix in the form of a convenient bowl. I will definitely come back to try more of their entrees.

Yelp
The black lady taking the orders is as RUDEEEEEE as they come. I wanted to walk out but my daughter has more patience and will spend her $ because her goal is food. So we stayed. We both got jerk chicken with rice and peas, I got greens and she got mac and cheese. Because I didn't want a beverage the lady's attitude got worse, like are you crazy? I had a water with me why would I buy another just because I'm in an establishment? Which charges $4 for a $0.25 bottle of flat water? Anyway, I asked for gravy ON my rice and peas and was told it's on my chicken. What does that have to do with the rice and peas tho? And of course it wasn't ON the rice and peas it was in a little container for me to put it on. As for the gravy I will say she knew better than me because that was an awful taste that would've ruined them as it did the chicken. It taste like soy sauce and bbq sauce mixed together. I KNOW I'm NOT gonna get anything close to how it's done in Chicago but I've never had it like that before. Usually places in the south use this disgusting cinnamon tasting stuff which for some reason I never remember because once I go to one of those places I don't return or even try jerk again for a very long time. So without thinking I asked for gravy, good thing she didn't put it on. The portions are really small for the price they charge. We didn't eat it all since we were only going for a light lunch. Surprisingly it taste better warmed up later. Not GOOD but better than it did earlier. It's a matter of preference because the locals seem to like this place. Will I return? NOT A CHANCE! Chicago has ruined me, I can see had I not grown up around good food then this would probably be considered good to me but it's not!

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Jerks Caribbean Kitchen, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We weren't aware that all of the food would come piled onto one plate. Once our order arrived, we realized everything was drenched in collard green juice, making the rest of the food soggy. We politely asked the manager if the plate could be remade or if the items could simply be separated. She refused and said that doing so would require charging us for an entirely new plate--which didn't make sense, since we weren't asking for more food, just a basic adjustment. When we asked for a full refund (our total was over $200), she processed it without hesitation. To me, that shows a complete lack of customer service and problem-solving. A simple solution could have saved the sale and future business, but instead her pride got in the way. It seems she'd rather lose hundreds of dollars and a potential return customer than make a reasonable accommodation. Her inability to handle a basic customer concern speaks volumes about the management. If that's the standard here, I can't recommend this place to anyone. Good food does not outweigh bad customer service.

Yelp
The food is very good. However the service is not the best. They have little to no people skills and the hospitality is none existent. There is little to no room to sit inside and the outside has a patio area with no trash cans. They expect you to order from a kiosk and give little to no direction on where to go when you walk in. It is also very hot and humid inside. The servers are very entitled and act like the customers don't have any entitlement. Once you get your food you're on your own. The drinks are also very sweet and need to be watered down and chilled.

Yelp
Tried this restaurant on a Friday afternoon, and was greeted by a friendly and helpful staff. This place was super cute inside and very clean. You can order at the counter or at a self service kiosk. I decided on the jerk pasta, it was good but extremely spicy to the point that I couldn't finish eating it. In all fairness, the staff member did warn me that it would be spicy. I also wish that the pasta included some vegetables like bell peppers or something. The wait wasn't long at all and I do plan on going back and trying some other items in the future.

Yelp
Jerk pasta overall the sauce and noodles were goods the chicken was dry and un seasoned. The ox tails were good the rice and peas were dry and the greens were not good. I wouldn't waste my 70 dollars again.

Yelp
I tried this place for the1st time in March and didn't love it. I ordered oxtails and the sauce was pure oil (I asked for extra gravy). It was so oily that I couldn't even finish it. In my pic, it had more oil before I soaked some of it out with a napkin.

Yelp
I wouldn't waste your time. They are overpriced and overrated. The customer service is absolutely terrible! My husband and I visited (2nd time). The first time the customer service was subpar but the food was pretty good the first time so we decided to give it another try. Big mistake. The girl they had working the counter wasn't there. We waited for over 15 minutes to take our order. The other girl that was preparing the takeout orders told us to go to the kiosk (multiple staff walked back and forth--including the owner and nothing was said, NOTHING!) When the girl finally came up you can clearly tell she didn't want to be at work--she said whenever you all are ready you can place your order (so no one told her guest were waiting in the front). We ordered. There was a no for everything. No customization on bowls and she was very short about it and didn't recommend any other items on the menu. Again she clearly didn't want to be there, and as I was giving her my order, she reaches down and gets her off brand Stanley to drink as I'm giving her my order (after she had been missing for 15 minutes). She also kept scratching her head-grossss! Thankfully she wasn't preparing the food but still. My husband ordered and he had questions about the portion sizes on the $35 oxtail , her answers didn't help. She was so short and dry, I didn't want to ask anymore questions, so we placed our order. Since I ordered the create your own bowl there was an option for cold toppings. Since we live about 30 minutes away, after we closed out, I asked if there was a way to put the cold toppings on the side, she said no, they put everything on the bowl as ordered (they hadn't finished making the bowl). We asked if they could make an exception and they said no. So we also said no, we won't be back. I was really excited about this place and again the food was pretty good the first time we went, but it's not worth the price and lack of customer service. For them to be the "Jamaican chipotle" they have a lot of work to do. Two bowls and two non alcoholic beverages for $45. No way.

Yelp
Beef stew is very good!! The mixed root side was also really tasty! People workng there were friendly. I also like that they have beer on tap. Definitely will be coming back.

Yelp
Tried this for the first time and it was great! Smooth operation with great authentic spices just how we'd cook it at home

Yelp
Social media brought me here! I just thought I'd give it a try. It sucks to admit this is some of the most bland food I've ever had, especially for it to be of Jamaican cuisine. I got the jerk chicken, rice and peas, and plantains. It's on the expensive side too as I paid over $30 for this one meal no drink. I started reading reviews prior to coming but I had to try myself and it did indeed disappoint.

Yelp
Ordered the pasta dish with chicken and shrimp extra spicy. The taste was good but the heat just wasn't there. I ordered online and paid there, the cashier looked overwhelmed with all the tickets coming in hut the service was quick. They do need a better system or organizing tickets. The inside was standard, they have a set up where the food is visible to the customer. Overall it was decent.

Yelp
This is definitely not authentic Jamaican food! If that's what you're looking for this is not it. Majority of my chicken that was on my two jerk bowl was fatty. This was the first time I ate here and my first experience was I had to order all of a tablet and it wasn't that many people there. I felt like if I didn't know how to use the tablet I was forced to use one and that's for those who do not use tablets so I felt unwelcome when I walked up to the cash register area. I was told that that's the only way they can order because they were behind. I wasn't too happy about that either because you have three people back there and you mean to tell me that since I had to wait anyway that there was nobody else that could Help. I felt like the customer service was not a customer service. They didn't like speaking. I get it that you're depending on us to order from the tablet, but at the same time no type of personality and no one really wanted to speak. It wasn't a welcome feeling. As far as the food is concerned, I was not pleased with the food when I asked for the sauce on the side. I was told that that would be extra when they put the sauce on my food they drowned my entire bowl like soup at the bottom and the chicken that they served to me wasn't jerk chicken I would not have called that jerk. It had a little jerk on it taste But I wouldn't call that Jamaican jerk chicken. I placed my order to go from my phone in the car because I couldn't get any help, but not only that once I went in because it was time for me to pick up my food they never gave me my second order when I ordered two bowls, I only got one so I had to wait for them to finish my second bowl. I wasn't happy. I don't think I'll give this place. Another chance. As far as ambience it was OK looks really clean.

Yelp
Just received my jerk chicken bowl from door dash from this restaurant and OH MY! SoOOOOOooo good! Plenty of food, enough for lunch and dinner. I should have gotten extra plantains. So good. I am here for work and I love trying new food concepts. A lil pricey but the quality and freshness of the food is worth it. The JUICE! My God! Flavors I never had before... taste like lavender lol... something. SO GOOD. I want oxtails next!

Yelp
One of the two television sets was airing Fox News. The staff was Black, the customers were Black and Latino. I found it offensive that a Black owned business was airing Fox News. The bowl that I ordered was good but airing a racist news channel was so outrageous that I'll never eat at this restaurant again.

Yelp
Small portions, expensive and to top it off theres a bunch of super lazy employees.
