I LOVE AUTUMN. I love the wind rustling through the drying leaves, I love the smell, I love the feel of sweaters and I love boots. All that said, I have NEVER been to a Pumpkin Farm.
We always bought our pumpkins from the grocery store growing up, so when my boyfriend invited me to go with his family to a pumpkin farm I was a little judgemental (quietly of course) thinking - why would you drive all the way up to boo foo wisconsin to buy a pumpkin?
What I was unaware of, however, is that the pumpkin farm is so much more than just a place to buy a pumpkin. It's kind of like a country fair meets with a carnival meets with small town adorable vendors.
So, we get there and it's HUGE. There are pumpkins forever. Available for your entertainment is...a corn maze, a haunted something or another (I avoid all things haunted cause I'm a wussy), several displays incorporating pumpkins, a store, a petting zoo and a hay ride. I went with my boy's niece & sister on the hay ride. Um - amazing. The smell of fall and the warmth that only communing with the outdoors (safe from bugs, snakes or anything else that's awful or irksome) is unsurpassable.
The pumpkins were ridiculously overpriced in my opinion. I paid $18 for two pumpkins...seriously? Shouldn't that be like $8-10? Maybe I'm cheap, but whatever. The had pasta sauce, jellies, apples, popcorn, and lots and lots of chocolate and some cookies in the store. All of which looked amazing and none of which I managed to get home (recently joined Weight Watchers and was feeling beyond tempted).
Anyway - this is cute and fun and I hope to go again next year. Enjoy!
