LA's Best Dishes: The Infatuation's favorite meals of the week.

"I like pastrami. I like breakfast burritos. So, obviously, I love pastrami breakfast burritos. The best one I’ve found is at Jerry’s Patio Cafe & Bar, the Marina del Rey spot that takes the best bits of the menu from Jerry’s Famous Deli (the former tenant that closed in 2017, after a 20-year-run) - namely, their pastrami and latkes - and wraps them up inside a flour tortilla. They also stuff in fluffy scrambled eggs, smashed avocado, caramelized onions, Gruyere and cheddar cheeses, and some smoky, slightly sharp salsa, making this a breakfast and lunch kind of affair. Have I had it for both meals? Definitely. Is it a bad thing that Jerry’s is within waddling distance of my apartment? The jury’s still out. -JM" - the infatuation los angeles crew

03/2023: Finally made it back to the best breakfast burrito place ever. Just as good as I remember, if not better. They have some convenient outdoor seating on the inner patio and it was just perfect. Fresh food, fresh air, cold drinks. Words cannot describe how good this place is! Absolutely delicious food! Everyone working there is beyond efficient with their movements, it will leave you in awe!

Google
First the positive. The food is 100% homestyle breakfast. As if you went to the store and bought the ingredients all the way to the French toast on plain white bread. But it tasted good. Now the bad. This may be a bit unfair only because we showed up as soon as they opened. But, the waitress came across as upset and rude. The food pricing was high but only because the dishes are all old. Both coffee cups cracked or broke and the plate had a crack in it. If they would upgrade the dishes and tables, put a smile in the waitresses face and paint the floor in the eating area...the food would easily throw this into a strong four star breakfast spot.

First time here! Came here looking for a good breakfast burrito in the area. Ordered a sausage breakfast burrito with jalapeños and avocado. Very pricey. Paid $39 for 2 burritos. Service was ok, not the best. The burrito itself was also just okay. They use hashbrowns instead of potatoes, for anyone who wants to know. Sausage in the burritos are whole sausage links, not diced. They're also not as big as some reviewers stated. Highlight here was their salsa. I tried the red and the green. Red one was spicy, however the green one had a better taste. Overall, I probably won't be back. The price wasn't worth the food.

Google
I had been wanting to come here for breakfast and finally it happened and so worth the wait. It’s a cozy and casual place I had seen their videos on Instagram but I hadn’t stopped by until today glad I did! Omg breakfast burritos were so delicious every single bite and some left overs for later today… ordered 3 to share amongst us 3 🤭so here goes my favorite was the pancake breakfast burrito my 2nd favorite the French toast and for lunch I’ll have my left overs which I know will not disappoint me at all…everyone here enjoyed and loved the great combinations. Comes loaded with lots of hash browns bacon sausage eggs and choice of pancake Or French toast…quick note They are already sweet so before you add any extra syrup try them plain and then decide but OMG the green salsa is my favorite salsa to devour this enormous meaty and savory all off the above burritos, this girl needs her spicy salsa. Place is small but so welcoming they have benches outside with shades to enjoy your picks of different breakfast choices Hours are 7am-1pm Monday-Fridays and Sat and Sunday hours are 7am-2pm so place your orders and dig in and enjoy…thanks to Naomi and “Dee” for their excellent service and friendly welcoming to their place. So if you’re ever in this side of Los Alamitos beach in Long Beach on 4th and Walnut come out and try this little place that has so much to offer you will enjoy it 💯I guarantee you will! 🌻❤️I’m going to return no doubt about it…why hadn’t you visited before Nena? Thanks again …Gracias 🌻

Google
This place has one of the best breakfast burritos in Long Beach. They are about 15 dollars per burrito but they are very large. You can split them in half between two people. The green salsa is my favorite.

Google
I got a breakfast sandwich with sausage and it was so good ! Everything tasted very homestyle and it really made me feel like I was at home with mom. The service was friendly and attentive, and very family oriented. My friend had the breakfast burrito which he loved! Definitely coming back :)

Google
Love this place. First time here but will definitely be back. Got the chilaquiles and the sauce was bomb not too spicy just enough heat to bring it all together. The pancakes are to die for probably the best I have had in Long Beach.

Excellent food with oversized portions. Love the chorizo and banana nut pancakes. 😋

Yelp
When I lived in Long Beach about 12 years ago, this used to be my go-to spot for breakfast burritos. Seriously the best bacon breakfast burritos to my liking! But sad news at end end of this review. SERVICE - Always so friendly and welcoming. Before COVID, they had stools inside where you can eat, chat with the staff, watch them cook your stuff. Before I moved to San Diego for college, I came here to so often and then when I finally visited after moving, they remembered me! Meeting Jerry himself and his family was such a pleasure. AMBIANCE - SO homey and again, very welcoming. Small, quaint place with backyard seating so you can stay and enjoy your email. Now for the sad news, I learned from their Instagram that they're closing up shop June 9 :( Apparently, the family's moving. SO SAD! I, of course, HAD to come back for one last bacon breakfast burrito. The staff was just as friendly and the burrito was still just as good after years. Taking my first bite hit me with such sweet nostalgia of the memories I had made here. Jerry's Place, you'll truly be missed by the LB community.

Yelp
This is unassuming little breakfast joint. I came here once and sat in the back patio to grab a breakfast burrito and found the place homey and welcome, with a neighborhood kinda vibe and diner vibes, but the prices seemed pretty high for the quality of the food, thus only the 3-stars. We got the breakfast burrito, which came in at almost $20 and I got the bacon (I believe chorizo was the other option). The burrito was ok! I honestly wouldn't order it again, but I'd be open to coming back here to explore some of the other menu items. All in all, Jerry's Place has some promise--so don't skip over it on the basis of this review. Service was very friendly :).

Yelp
I took a star off for how long it took to get my food and it seemed to be the same for others too. It's a great hole in the wall for breakfast food. Honestly, one of the best breakfast burritos I've had but to wait over an hour was a bit much. I'm not sure if it was the day that I went on but there was only one girl cooking and the poor girl taking orders was overwhelmed. Needless to say, definitely go if you're looking for your breakfast basics but be prepaid to wait.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I've eaten at this location. I'm a longtime fan and customer of Jerry's place and I'm also a person who eats the same thing all the time once I like it. My orders. A Vegetarian Burrito It's filled with hash brown potatoes scrambled eggs onions bell peppers mushrooms and spinach I nixed the spinach added cheese and asked the chef to cook it with less oil this burrito is fat enough for two and soo soo good it tasted slightly healthy because it doesn't have meat but it's what I needed ; ) Those hash browns and fried eggs needed more seasoning so be sure to ask them to season your potatoes and eggs before they roll that bad boy up Condiments They have green and red salsa both are good but the red one is packed with a lot of flavor the green one is good too and has a kick but both salsas are thin and taste great on a fat hot burritos. I have had bacon and sausage breakfast burritos at this spot and they're delicious. FYI: This is an updated review. It's been a few years since I've eaten at this location I'll be sure to update my next meal outside of the same old trued and true favorites of mine. They close at 1:00 pm so whatever you want to try get here early the menu is quite extensive and they have some bomb food the staff is cool and they will cook your order however you want it. The neighborhood Be aware this is a true mom and pop without frills or a fancy place to eat your food you can eat on a bench out front - its located in a busy eclectic neighborhood filled with characters - and this is an extremely hectic street with cars zooming all over and minimal parking but believe you me this is what you want. Wrap it up sister girl. It's family owned with an awesome reputation on food real Mexican street food that's why they've lasted for years on the same block before during and after the pandemic and as I always say run don't walk and get you some of this deliciousness and after you're done drive over to the Beach or the Aquarium in Long Beach.

Yelp
Breakfast burrito is decent but totally not worth the hour+ wait to get it. Never coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped here on the way to another place for a breakfast burrito and curiosity as I often walk by but never in time for breakfast! The menu was extensive but just glanced over in search of a burrito and landed on the turkey bacon . It was a good size (to match the good price) but it just left something to be desired, maybe dipping sauce or perhaps trying to eat the bacon as a whole slice made it a little less enjoyable. You can tell the food is homemade though so I'd love to try some more things on the menu. Apple juice was 4.50 a cup, not sure if that came with refills but I would hope so! They had front tables outside and also a back patio. No dining inside.

Yelp
Very bad. Not coming back again. Quality had dropped significantly. Feels like an entirely different establishment the way the food resembles nothing I used to get. Got some vegen omelettes and the omelette was so bland and sad. Barely any fillings. The hashbrowns were also bland and mushy and burnt. Didn't read about the owners changing before I ordered. Definitely should have.

Yelp
First off, this restaurant definitely makes you feel like family. They don't forget your face if you interact with them. The two chefs who I believe are brothers are always joking around giving the atmosphere life. The food is the bizness I usually get the chilaquiles burrito, it's around habanero spicy FYI ( and it's an off menu item) but this time I tried the breakfast burger and it didn't disappoint. The patty, 2 sausages and bacon were cooked perfectly, hash browns were crispy and the sunny side up egg with ketchup and mayonnaise was the icing on the cake. The customer service is awesome and sometimes it does take a while to get your food but you'll be happy you waited.
google avatar

Susana E.

Yelp
Payed $40 for 2 burritos one bacon and one asada worst burritos we've had the asada had no seasoning and the bacon was raw and it had so much hash brown and it was soooo mushy

Yelp
The small pink building is easy to look over, but once you try the breakfast burritos, I doubt you'll miss it again! The burritos are a little pricey...but I believe you get what you pay for here! Fresh salsa, and a delicious filling burrito! They even offer a no meat option, but I think the chorizo is the best! My coworkers and I call ahead to order so that we can just go and grab our food and enjoy our lunch there. The restaurant seems to be run by a family and they do it well! I've come many times for lunch and have also ordered large quantities of burritos for work and every time everything is ready on time and the order is correct! I have zero regrets whenever I come to Jerry's!

Ced J.

Yelp
I don't like leaving Yelp reviews unless I feel the absolute need to. This place is one of those instances. Do not. I repeat. Do not. Spend your money here. You will wait 1-2 hours for your "food". Then you'll receive said "food" and it'll be some crap you wouldn't even feed your dog. The pancakes were essentially play dough, the eggs didn't have a speck of salt, garlic, pepper, or any seasoning. The prices are just outrageous for common household items thrown on a hot top. Service 0/10. Food 0/10. Price 0/10. Experience 0/10. Places like these need to be ran out of business. I would have a picture of the "food" but I tossed it in the trash as soon as I could.

Yelp
Best breakfast burrito in Long Beach... also try the breakfast burger 10/10. Get the bacon breakfast burrito...

Yelp
Jerry's Place used to be best for breakfast burritos in Long Beach. Seriously, they were the amazing! Load 'em up with bacon and sausage, and you're in breakfast heaven. But now, they've gone and changed things. They moved all the seating to the back patio, and it's just not the same cozy vibe as before. Plus, sometimes they run out of stuff, which is a bummer. But when they're fully stocked, it's still some seriously good eats.
google avatar

Jesse T.

Yelp
Solid breakfast spot. The seating is all outside and the facilities aren't especially nice, but it's a no frills, tasty place to land. I've enjoyed the breakfast burritos especially!
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Loved our first time here. I would definitely recommend if you have the time to spare. We waited quite a bit to be served. Food was delicious. I ordered the steak platter and bf ordered the steak sandwich both were perfect. There's limited seating in the front and additional seating in the back. We will be back to try other dishes!

Yelp
Wanted to grab some breakfast burrito for breakfast while staying in Long Beach but didn't want it to be bougie or fancy which seems to be a lot of places while close to the beach. Came across this small local restaurant and saw their breakfast sandwich picture which looked so good! Came around 8am and there were a few people. There was only outdoor seating available so it gets pretty chilly eating there early morning. Oh man, their breakfast sandwich did not disappoint. All the ingredients were evenly spread out on toasted bread. Asada was not too dry but could be a bit more tender, eggs were fluffy and along with some veggies and tomatoes. The flavor was very balanced and was even better with their salsa. Definitely a good amount for one person or two if you don't eat as much in the morning. I'd really like to come back to try their other breakfast item!!
google avatar

Tony B.

Yelp
Best breakfast sandwich and hash browns in LB hands down! I've had other items on the menu but the sandwich is my go to favorite.
google avatar

Erika B.

Yelp
I ordered the burrito pancake and a side of fries. The burrito pancake was fresh and hot. I don't like the burrito because it had no flavor with a burnt taste. I took the hash browns off the burrito and it tasted a lil better. The pancakes also has a burnt flavor.
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
They're never open! I have tried to order from them for two weeks now and they're always closed :/. Not enough for a bad star review. But please open for delivery. I tried the burrito from a friend and life changing so good
google avatar

Tessa C.

Yelp
This is their last month open :( I'm so incredibly sad. They have the absolute best breakfast food items ever. My roommate and I always split a burrito and a stack of chocolate chip pancakes. Thank you, Jerry's for the many breakfasts! We will miss you SO much. I'll be there weekly until the final day.
google avatar

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp. The minute we walked in I knew it was going to be authentic, homemade food. We came in for breakfast. I wish I would have taken more pictures. The service was friendly. Really relaxing ambiance. It is far away from home, but if we are in the area I would definitely stop by.
google avatar

Lyzette J.

Yelp
Found this gem by scrolling through Yelp trying to find a breakfast spot in the area. It was our first time staying in Long Beach so we weren't sure of many restaurants. We ordered their breakfast burritos and the portions were huge! You definitely get your moneys worth. The place itself only offers outdoor seating and when you do arrive, it is tucked in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood, but don't let that turn you away. We will definitely be coming back when we're in town.

WarrenWarrior1980 ..

Yelp
Their breakfast is great but their inconsistent days and hours of operation can be a real Nuisance.
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
My friend and I order from here (almost) every Sunday! The portion size is pretty big- which is why their price point is a bit high, but knowing that they're a family owned business makes it totally worth it. We love supporting local businesses! Our order is usually a sausage burrito with two sides of salsa verde + a stack of chocolate chip pancakes... and we still have leftovers. Totally worth the price! People who complain that the pricing is too high need to understand that the cost of food has gone up exponentially. Inflation is real, but thankfully there's places like this that don't compromise the quality and portion size of their food.
google avatar

Janie D.

Yelp
The ultimate neighborhood greasy spoon. Jerry's Place is a tiny kitchen, with outdoor seating only. Their patio looks like someone's backyard, which, it basically is. The menu includes every American breakfast and lunch classic you could hope to find, plus breakfast burritos and other Mexican specialties. Prices are not as low as they should be, but portions are large. I got a Breakfast Burrito, which was simple and satisfying. Fried potatoes, fluffy eggs, and a grilled tortilla; yum! Their salsas are watery, but have great flavor. My husband got Chilaquiles, which were exceptional, especially doused in Tapatio. His eggs were perfectly cooked. The coffee is just Folgers, and tasted burnt, but no big deal. We look forward to coming back.
google avatar

Megan W.

Yelp
Went to this hidden gem for the pancake breakfast burrito Portion is huge and definitely worth the money as it's quality food. Happily will spend the money for a hot, fresh meal! Jerry's.. never change!!

Zev G.

Yelp
Amazing chorizo burritos, very quick service and overall amazing place for breakfast. The ambiance is decent and quiet, nice to relax and eat
google avatar

Yelp
Recently had the pleasure of trying "Jerry's Place" based on a review I read on Facebook's "Long Beach Food Scene." Breakfast burritos are a favorite and so I'm always looking to find good ones in the area. I got my eggs over-medium (keeps them from being dried out), sausage AND bacon, added avocado. That, combined with their already-hash brown inclusion and I was all set. It was fantastic. Juicy, big, and tasty. The only downside is that it was more expensive than I thought - $20 or so. Maybe because I added avocado or something but I'm not used to paying that much for a burrito. Like I said, it was delicious and I'll certainly be back... but with the $20 price tag, I might not be back as OFTEN as I'd like... but if that's not a concern, GO! You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Delaney D.

Yelp
Food was really good, I got the California burrito. My boyfriend got a chorizo burrito. I don't really like breakfast but his burrito, omg, was really good from just the couple bites I took. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Lucho V.

Yelp
Small local restaurant offering classic American food. Parking is minimal so be patient. Parked a few blocks away and walked to restaurant. No indoor dining but patio located outside. Not aesthetically pleasing. Basic tarp covers the tables. More shade is needed along with decor and plants. The service is mediocre at best. Our finished plates sat for a while collecting flies. I ordered their waffle breakfast with bacon, eggs and hash browns. Not bad. Good portions and well seasoned. Also got a breakfast sandwich which was well presented and very tasty. I think their coffee is very good and strong. We enjoyed the food and would probably come back.
google avatar

Kaya E.

Yelp
Not a fan of this place at ALL! Breakfast burrito not worth it. Let's break it down. The good: -easy parking - nice workers -packaged well The bad: -burrito not tasty and not worth $11!!!!!! - I've gotten bigger burritos for less and bigger - the hash browns and the bacon lacked crunch so the texture of the entire burrito was just mush - bacon had a lot of fat on it - they give you salsa but the container I received was half full and crushed like it was someone's leftover salsa (weird) - again it was $11 I think this is way overpriced Nothing impressive, I would go to a different place for a breakfast burrito.
google avatar

Laura M. B.

Yelp
The food is amazing, the portions are large for the prices. Which have increased due to inflation as per the modified menu that hangs by the cash register. So please take a look at the updated picture of the menu here. I spent $40 on 2 breakfast burritos and nothing else. Sorry I know inflation is a thing and I try to support family/small business anytime I can but $17 for a breakfast burrito is a lot. There may have been 2 sausage links inside (I got the egg and sausage burrito). They got rid of the breakfast bar unfortunately (I get it Cov.) but it seems prices are getting higher for less service. There is no parking, there is only outdoor dining. Sadly I probably won't be back which is unfortunate because this used to be my favorite breakfast spot in Alamitos Beach LB. :(
google avatar

Valeri M.

Yelp
Food was great ! You get a lot for your money. Only thing they only have patio sitting. Service was good. Also no ice tea
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
First time here. Tried the sausage breakfast burrito. It comes with eggs, sausage, cheese and hash brown. It is a regular size burrito for $13.80. They take Apple Pay and credit cards.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
Service is great, quick and friendly. Good food, recommend the breakfast burritos! Outdoor dining is good when the weather is good.
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
Simple over priced food in the out door seating with friendly family run staff. Didn't do much for me.

Kenzie L.

Yelp
This review is long overdue, but Jerry's Place is a place my fiancé and I had frequented in our college days but we decided to come back when we were in the area for breakfast. The French toast is AMAZING and I love the overall vibe here and the service is quick. It feels very homey. We love Jerry's and will be back!

Lamby C.

Yelp
Was craving some delicious, yet not overpriced, food around the area as I do my laundry across the street. The lady who helped me out was so kind, she gave me loving Tia vibes. I order the two soft pollo tacos with rice and beans to eat there. Food was brought out quickly and the sweet lady put on a little fan thing to swat away the flies as I ate outside on their shady patio. I feel like I was hanging out at my fam's house eating delicious food. 10/10 recommend! They're family owned, so come support your local business
google avatar

Nisha F.

Yelp
Pretty underwhelming food and way too expensive. $16.50 for an unseasoned, bland, bacon breakfast burrito is absurd. I usually give places at least two tries before throwing in the towel, but for the price point, it isn't worth it to return again.
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
Just moved to the area a few months ago and have seen Jerry's place but haven't had the opportunity to stop in yet (mostly due to their hours of operation). But today I had a morning off and a night out last night so decided to swing by and give it a try! I called ahead and ordered a Carne Asada breakfast burrito and in less than 15 minutes it was ready to go when I came to pick it up! Came with 2 salsa sides and WOWWWWW on so many levels delicious. Would prefer a little more egg in the "breakfast burrito" but meat was flavorful, just the right amount of cheese and the hash brown in the middle was cooked to perfection!!! Veryyyyy happy this place is so close by! Will definitely be making more stops when I can!

Michael V.

Yelp
Good food, a little pricey. The breakfast burritos here are good, but from all the breakfast burritos I've had (I've had a lot) they're on the pricier side. What they lack in flavor they make up for in portions. It's a large burrito that is filling they seem to lack a little something; they're a little on the dryer side. They are still in my top 3 favorite breakfast burrito spots behind Ma n Pas (#1) and Blackbird Cafe (#2).

Christopher C.

Yelp
Great food, great people but hot damn, I'm done eating here going forward. 17 bucks for a breakfast burrito is outrageous. The price point doesn't correlate with the product, service. So disappointed as this place always hit. Again great food but this is not a Vegas pool party where you can charge that amount of money
google avatar

Stephanie V.

Yelp
We were going to the record shop around the corner but wanted to eat first, came here and it was delicious! Mom and pop shop with great food.
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
It was so good two days ago I had to stop in. Again I finished my plate but went lunch this time. So delicious!!! Outdoor seating was cool under the awning. Our waitress light red hair young was very nice asked how we were doing how the food was refreshed our coffee. All necessary condiments were on the table. I asked if my sandwich came with chopped tomatoes like the breakfast sandwich and she said yes so I asked if I could get sliced she said if you would like if you can only have chopped I will give you with no tomatoes but sweetly they came sliced see picture. My husband said the bacon was unreal and so were the potatoes and the red and green sauce he was talking to himself about how great the French toast was! Ok he said perfect, perfect, perfect, eggs over easy perfect they do breakfast perfect. Salsa made by the red hair waitress mom she said!!!
google avatar

Danny L.

Yelp
Five stars! A hidden gem in Long Beach with a hidden gem of patio seating in back. Pack up the pooch, they're dog friendly. If you like a BIG breakfast and the line is too long at potholders, Jerry's is your place. Ample pancakes, a mess of potatoes with your eggs and bacon, a lumberjack without the hefty price. Life is too short to bitch about breakfast, so I'd ignore negative reviews And go get yourself a bacon breakfast burrito. Pickup available, order ahead and dash away. But I take advantage of the lazy atmosphere in the patio and chill over the smell of bacon and coffee.

Neil M.

Yelp
Go to Ma n Pa's breakfast burrito at Jerry's was $18 + less fillings less choices takes to long never again. Zac Renee and Luis do a much better job for a much fairer price.
google avatar

Thanks G.

Yelp
UPDATE: I just tried to go here and ordered my usual bacon burrito + beans and avocado. Total: $17 for a breakfast burrito?!??? They lowered the price on adding beans to $1 which is nice, but the price of the burrito itself went up by like $4! I can get two massive burritos a block away from Tito's Bakery (plus they have nopales). Sorry Jerry's, I love your food, but I just can't afford it anymore :( I will miss you. The lady seemed mad when I said "$17? Damn! I think I'm actually gonna hold off on that, I'm sorry". It's not my fault the price went up 40% and they hadn't started making it and I was respectful about it! REVIEW: Best breakfast burrito in LBC in my opinion! They fry the eggs and fold them around the contents instead of scrambling, so you get the perfect amount of egg in every bite and it's never mushy/runny. They use fresh hash browns instead of fries or potatoes. They actually give you enough bacon so that you can really taste it unlike some places that chop it into tiny bite and barely mix it into the eggs. The tortilla is delicious and the salsa is perfect for breakfast salsa. It's amazing. It's not huge and it's a little pricey ($9). And even mode so for add ons; it's $2 to add avocado (not unheard of), but it's also $2 just to add beans (most places will add beans to a breakfast burrito for free or $1 at the most). But that's the only downside I can see. They have a cool bar style setup where the grill is in the middle so you can see all the food being cooked up fresh right in front of you. Or you can sit outside and checkout the cool graffiti and murals all over the building and fence. Last but not least, they're open early on the weekends, so a perfect place to hit if you just left the party at 6am. Nothing helps you sleep like a breakfast burrito! Also all the employees are really friendly and they always play good music. It's usually old school hip hop or R&B. One morning they were playing a really catchy remix to the remix to Ignition by R.Kelly by a Samoan hip hop group from Alaska called Ava Boyz (I Shazamed it haha) and it was stuck in my head for at least a week straight.

Yelp
Best breakfast burritos in town that I've found. I'd give them 5 stars but on occasion the hash browns inside my burrito was burnt. That said, I've probably had at least 10-12 burritos from here and that has only happened twice. I also love their green salsa, but not so much their red. I tried their chilaquiles on a recent trip too. They are simple but did not disappoint. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
An amazing spot for a home cooked breakfast. The French toast is divine. And the chillaquilles are delicious!
