Jerry’s Patio Cafe & Bar brings the iconic Jerry's Famous Deli back to Marina del Rey - with a patio and cafe, too. Review - Marina Del Rey - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"After ending a 20-year-run in 2017, Jerry’s Famous Deli was reopened as Stark’s in 2019. But now, they’ve reverted to their previous incarnation - kind of. Rechristened as Jerry’s Patio Cafe & Bar, they’re offering comforting deli classics like corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, soups, salads, and cocktails for outdoor dining. Delivery and takeout also available." - James Montgomery

The gold standard of diners. You can’t force the organic greatness of a place this good. It just *is*. Places like Jerry’s are restaurants after my own heart. The simple breakfast—eggs, bacon, toast—hits better than Little Jerry at a cockfight. (Seinfeld fans, you know.) If the food in Egypt had been this good, Moses might’ve reconsidered the whole Exodus thing.

CASH ONLY. I love this little Mexican diner. Stopped in for my first time this past weekend and drove up from West LA specifically for this little coffee shop. I am working my way through a list of all coffee shops and diners in LA County so next up on my list are the handful that are in Simi Valley. Jerry’s definitely caters to the Hispanic community, which being from San Diego myself this is something that I also enjoy. I am not Hispanic myself, but the staff made me feel very welcome so don’t think that it’s not for everybody type of place. It’s in a really sleepy part of Simi Valley tucked at the bottom of a group of hills which makes for a great backdrop. There is a small parking lot attached so parking is really easy to find. It’s important to know that it is cash only but the prices are extremely low because of that and they do have an ATM on site. Our waitress was extremely polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. Inside is quite small, but they do have a lot of traditional seating options such as counter, booths, and tables. I love how the whole restaurant is built around the kitchen, so you can see, hear, and smell all the food being prepared. I would say that this is one of the best Chicken Fried Steaks that I’ve had in a long time. I wanted to order a diner classic so I chose that and was very impressed with the meal. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the meat was not overcooked, and overall it just had some great flavors. There were a lot of other options on the menu that I wanted to order so I plan to be back in the near future to try more. The staff was also extremely polite and insisted that I take a coffee to go which I happily accepted and it really hit the spot on the long drive home. This is honestly a great local diner, but I would honestly recommend to anyone in LA and feel that it was worth the 30+ minute drive to get there.

Well Jerry is gone. The new owners seem to be doing a great job filling in pretty big shoes. The atmosphere is still friendly and the photos from over the years are still hanging on the walls. The decor is the same and you get that overwhelming good feeling that many people have entered and left thru that entry door. We enjoy coming here. The food is reasonable priced and the service is amazing. Bring cash. No credit cards are accepted. Be careful where you park. The parking lot is limited and shared by a small car dealership that has tow signs everywhere.

Google
This is a really nice, peaceful, laid back diner, with pretty views, and friendly service. They are doing takeout and dine in is outside right now. The coffee was fresh, and so was all of the food. Everything is really reasonably priced, but it is cash only, so make sure you are prepared for that. We had eggs over easy, and they were prepared perfect. The hashbrowns and home fries were yummy, and so was the toast and English muffins. The tuna sandwhich was tasty and it had fresh, crisp veggies on it, but it is a very very small sandwhich, with a small amount of tuna, so I probably wouldn't get it again. I would definitely come back for breakfast:)

Google
Under new owners from what I understand. Biscuits and gravy- Biscuits were more cornbread like, and gravy was runny and tasted more of clam chowder then gravy. Eggs Bennidict- eggs under poached and whites were still runny, hollandaise sauce was runny and tasted like the gravy did. The Canadian bacon and English muffin were cooked properly. The 2 eggs 2 bacon hashbrowns and toast that my husband were cooked to over easy and just right, not to crispy on the bacon, LARGE white toast, hashbrowns were lightly browned. Coffee was good, service was very sweet, cook was helpful and guests were nice too.

Google
love a place that has menus were over 90% of the items are under 10 bucks you can’t find many places like this anymore. All four of us ordered the chili cheese omelette for obvious reasons it’s one of the best cheap eats I’ve ever had the Chili’s actually made in house if you’re a meat lover… This is your chili I loved our server she was straight up honest and she kept the coffee cups flowing so we didn’t have to ask for anything the toast was awesome and instead of hashbrowns I got the side of fruit which was freshly chopped bananas and watermelon which I needed. It’s worth the drive you can see the classic setting so that means this place is been there for a while but for good old fashion friendly service the owners and the staff make this place a wonderful stop for any morning I’m coming back!

Jerry's Coffee Shop is not just yummy; it's a delightful haven for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike! The friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff create a warm and inviting environment. Under the new management, the experience has been elevated to a whole new level. The coffee is rich and flavorful, and the food is consistently delicious. I absolutely love the positive changes they've made, and it's become one of my favorite spots for a scrumptious meal and a friendly chat. Jerry's Coffee Shop is a true gem, thanks to the wonderful new management!

Yelp
Service 5 stars. Incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Atmosphere 4 stars. Cute, homespun, casual place with a retro/old school feel. The wooden mini booths aren't very comfortable but overall the place feels welcoming. Food 5 stars. Honestly I couldn't ask for a better BLTA. Well composed, quality crispy bacon, fresh and crisp lettuce and tomato, soft but toasted wheat bread. The side potato salad was wet and mustard, which is how I like it.

Yelp
I have lived in Simi Valley for my entire life and passed by this cozy little place a million times over the decades. I have always wanted to stop. It has a great atmosphere. Right when I walked in, I saw the hostess and one of the cooks and they made me feel right at home. I had breakfast. The food was delicious and the service was awesome! I'll definitely be heading back soon.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop with yummy food. Just got a standard breakfast. It's a little jammed in there but they offer a lot of options. Very nice workers, a little bit on the old side. Condiments are old and could use some changing out. Great customer service!

Yelp
Highly don't recommend Bacon was old and one bite turned the tummy "Coffee shop" that just serves crappy Coffee not even a variety like you would expect from a coffee shop. This run down shadow of a diner from gawd knows when was hot, stuffy, gross and the food was cheap/nasty. Sausage came out burnt. Egg sandwich with Turkey was the saltiest thing I've ever eaten in my life. You can do better breakfast at Carl's Jr. for the price. The creamer for the coffee was on the table for who knows how long! Plus cash only with an atm and no wifi took 20 mins just to pay. We won't be back... ever! Now I have to go recover

Kate T.

Yelp
The service was attentive and friendly. The actual place was very cute inside. It gave diner vibes. I wouldn't say it's super great for large groups but we enjoyed our cozy booth. The biscuits and gravy were very delicious and cheap! I didn't love my omelette there wasn't enough cheese for me only that one slice on top. The french toast was delicious as well and they provide lots of extra jam, butter, and syrup to add on top. The coffee was good and they provide lots of little creamers on the table as well. They don't have any espresso products but they also have a variety of juice that isn't too expensive either. I also ordered the grits which were pretty typical. Overall, I thought the friendliness and cheap prices (cash only) would bring me back again however I will order differently next time. Give it a try!

Yelp
Time for a new review of Jerry's. I used to be a weekly regular for breakfast until about 4 years ago when I mostly stopped eating breakfast and I stopped going to Jerry's. Today, on a lazy Sunday late morning I end up here with a friend around noon and here are new owners! The place looks almost exactly the same as it always has but I think the new owners actually try to make it look clean. This is not to say that they have ever not been clean but if you know Jerry's, you know what a greasy spoon is. I say that with love because the food is always delicious and the prices are lower than any other restaurant. Our food was delicious and the service was excellent. The vibe feels the same which is a very good thing. They may or may not still be cash only but we came prepared. A casual glance around didn't reveal any of the previous CASH ONLY signs they used to have on the walls Totally recommended and I would always love to come back

Yelp
Unfortunately, I am knocking my review down with the new owners. I went shortly after the transfer and was served half raw pancakes. I tried it again this weekend, and the pancakes were undercooked on one side and burned on the other. The server forgot about the other half of my order (eggs/sausage) and was visibly confused when the cook put it in the pass. Diet Pepsi was poured from a can that was so expired it could have voted for Carter. They added new menu items, which is cool, and prices have been raised across the board. Not really a surprise but just stating the fact. I was hoping they would have improved given it's been about a year of new owners, but sadly, this is no longer one of my favorite breakfast spots.

Clint N.

Yelp
So it's been a while since I came here. With the new ownership, I'm sad that the place is not as busy as it used to be. Simi Valley, you're missing out! They have not missed a beat since the old owners sold. The food quality is still fantastic. I love the thick cut bacon. Fresh avocados and tomatoes on the side with my eggs. Coffee is still par - not the BEST coffee, but coffee shop coffee.. It's fresh, and it's hot! They even have a new in-house salsa which is top notch (I poured some over my scrambled eggs and it gave them a nice kick and immense flavor). I'll be back. And so should you, Simi! Just because Molly and Yuan are gone doesn't mean Jerry's Coffee Shop should be forgotten. Give it a shot! You won't be disappointed. EDIT: Reading through negative reviews, and - Fake news on poor quality, confused servers, price increases, or inaccurate orders. I was just there and: same quality as ever, server knew what she was doing, for my scrambled eggs with cheese-bacon-avocado-coffee meal, I paid $12-13. If there was a price increase, it was nominal, bro, let it go. And, my food came to me exactly as I'd ordered it. I'll be back!
google avatar

Marc N.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast after not coming for nearly a year. Was very disappointed not to see Molly and Yuan. My wife and selected our favorites that we had been enjoying for years. I had the Chili Cheese Omelet and my wife chose the French Toast. Molly and Yuan made the chili themselves it was the best in town. To my disappoint, the new owners are using a land, flavorless canned chili of some sort. I was able to get through it but won't be going back again. My wife couldn't eat more than a few bites of the French Toast as it just didn't taste good. The service was decent and they gave a discount on the French Toast but good/decent service is not going to make up for the bad food. I don't think Jerry's will survive much longer unless the new owners can vastly improve on the quality of the food.
google avatar

Angie M.

Yelp
Found this little gem by the soccer fields and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. Jerry's is a little hole in the wall diner style restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. The staff were very welcoming and attentive; even made great recommendations. If you're in town for a soccer tournament and looking for a good breakfast or lunch this place is GREAT! Very reasonably priced and the food is absolutely scrumptious!

Yelp
Ate here for the first time with the thought of supporting a mom & pop shop. We were warmly greeted as we walked in. The new owner, Daniel, and his staff were extremely friendly. We ordered chilaquiles, french toast & corn beef hash, and they were all delicious. We will definitely come back!
google avatar

Joe P.

Yelp
They're the best mom and pop shop in simi. They have a nice chunky chili and great breakfast for a great price.

Rich K.

Yelp
I've been going here for 20 plus years and have always liked this greasy spoon. Now that the new owners have it now they have really raised there prices and the hash browns are not good, under cooked and not crispy. They need to do a better job when serving breakfast. I really hate to eat RAW hash browns. They should be cooked properly and I was not happy with them today ,they sucked

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Best breakfast in Simi! Chicken fried steak and pancakes were amazing. Super friendly staff, reasonable prices and great food. Cannot recommend it enough !

Trisha W.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE !!!!! My co-worker and I both had a club sandwich this morning and we are both sick !!! The worst club sandwich I have ever had !!!! Absolutely disgusting!!!! This place does not even deserve a star !!!!

Yelp
Food was amazing & Chelsea had amazing service.. I will definitely be returning .. the remote location give it more personality for me.
google avatar

Klzlad D.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my breakfast here (sorry, I was too hungry and forgot to take pics) but it was really good! Especially the huevos rancheros with beans, salsa and tortillas. This is a hole in the wall coffee shop, not fancy but very welcoming staff, it felt like you're out on the road and find it in the middle of nowhere and think I made a good choice by coming here. I'm definitely coming back.

Yelp
This breakfast spot will always have a special place in my heart! It is the last mom and pops that I know of in Simi. Jerry and Molly are truly the heart of this establishment. The cooking is always done with heart and a lot of butter! Every item on the menu is good. Make sure to try the pancakes and chili cheese omelette at some point! The walls are covered in pictures of regulars! It is so cute! Such a wholesome family restaurant. If you bring your kids Jerry will probably give them lollipops. (: The only thing I would ever change is the cleanliness of the dining area. The walls are kind of dirty. But easy to over look, because the kitchen is always clean. I know because there are no walls between the kitchen and the customers. So you can see exactly what is going on with your food. I 10/10 recommend this place! I hope that this stays a family business forever! It is one of the most precious restaurants in Simi.

Erin ..

Yelp
The omelet and hash browns were good, just nice and simple. However, the biscuit was hard as a rock. No matter how much gravy I put on, it just wasn't good.

Yelp
Came to delivery some rapid ridge next door at JB Wholesale saw this coffee shop. I order a breakfast burrito bacon & sausage, it was fantastic! coffee was super charge. The ladies are very friendly couldn't ask for more out of this restaurant. Support small business. Here a picture of my breakfast burrito try it out ! Thank Jerry's Coffee Shop

Russel B.

Yelp
Great service and really good value for tasty food. It's a good old time coffee shop.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Jerry's will never impress those used to fine dining. It's an old time coffee shop with a fairly basic menu and a large number of specials mostly taped on the walls. The food is good. The service is better and I've yet to have a bad breakfast here in many years of coming. Don't let the aging structure put you off. The locals know this place is something rather special and dependable, probably why I've not reviewed the place before. They just reopened recently and the wife and I did not miss a chance to breakfast here when we saw them open. Great food and plenty of it. It was nice to see the same staff as we were used to supporting this eatery. They are polite, fast and know the menu and what's good. I'm a fan.

Kaylee A.

Yelp
This is my first time into Jerry's coffee shop and let me tell you why it will not be my last, I have never meat such a personable , amazing , funny and just all around great person staff , they are who made my experience orfa and Elizabeth are such great people and the other cashier girl I want to say Maddie but I could be wrong she had some awesome pink butterfly earrings on and let me tell you they were all delight, offered me coffee right away. When I finally got home and tried my food I was amazed orfa gave me some of his home made salsa and wow it was good , I will def come back if I could give this place 10 stars I would but 5 will have to do for now :)
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Came here in search ch if a place to chill in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee. Nope. Didn't happen. I did however have a pretty good and hearty breakfast though. Food is good. This place has been here for a really long time. It's old and it looks old so if your picky about the places you eat at not being all fresh and new.... Keep on driving. There another place just around the corner for you. I totally dig the old diner vibe. The place is cool. Small. But definitely worth it. They don't take cards so bring cash. Or use the atm that charges like 2-5 bucks to withdraw.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Just plain awesome. New owner did some upgrades. Could use new menus Fast service, great food, love there coffee. I have always enjoyed going there for breakfast and great prices!!
google avatar

Erik B.

Yelp
This old diner, apparently unrestored since the 1970s, is fantastic. Owned and operated by a couple who are polite, make *fantastic coffee* by the way (just coffee not foo foo), are happy to see you, and support an obviously friendly locals scene as well: people know each other in here. I don't know anybody there, I was brand new. I had a great meal, with friendly people providing it, in a comfortable, casual, frankly old setting. Jerry's is tucked away on the north side of Los Angeles Ave, near the railroad crossing, and a little below grade. You might miss it, and it looks small from the front, but it extends backward away from the street. It's not fancy inside, but the menu is significant and the food is made old-fashioned diner style with care and quality. The prices are very fair, and the service is what you would expect: hometown friendly.
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
Good coffee. No black water here. Good, solid food. Zero fancy inside, but all the rough interior makes the experience all the more cooler. Thanks for being there for us with your yummy breakfast fare.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great hidden gem! This place is like a classic diner with a welcome home feel when you come in. My family and I came in for breakfast and we were pleasantly greeted ! The service was great. The food was delicious and you can tell it was made with love probably the best pancakes I've had! Highly recommend. Your coffee cups will never be empty servers are super attentive!

Eric B.

Yelp
Been coming to Jerry's for years and they've always had great, consistent food. It's my go to local spot for breakfast. One note I wanted to leave here is that the pancakes seem to have changed since the restaurant switched ownership. One of my favorite items from the menu was a stack of thin, nearly crispy pancakes. Now they are a bit thicker and don't hit quite the same spot. Other than that the new team is very nice

Skylar D.

Yelp
I have came here since I was a new born. The atmosphere is amazing, it's like a time capsule. The service is amazing too!
google avatar

Joel L.

Yelp
Very nice place. A true hole in the wall gem. Everything else is trying too hard. I will be back!
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
You really don't think much as you drive by but once again, looks are deceiving. I've never ordered anything but the pancakes breakfast because there had never been a need to order anything but this ... pancakes for lunch? This is the spot. They are usually cash only from what I remember so this is the only thing I would watch out for. The owners are super friendly and the service was good.

Daniel M.

Yelp
The food is honestly very delicious and I would come here very often as a child. Yen and Molly are gone but the new owners that have been here since December really fit in and they definitely brought the food quality up! The service is very kind and they are friendly to any and all! It feels like an old time cafe where all your problems fade away once you step in. I will definitely continue to visit!!!
google avatar

Tammy G.

Yelp
This tiny diner has been around as long as I can remember living in Simi...I'm guessing at least 50 years. I don't live here anymore, and while visiting, my son and I stopped in for a quick breakfast. When I was about to pay, the owner told me he accepted cash only, which I did not have. I was about to go get cash, when he said, don't worry, you can pay the next time. I was so touched by his small-town trust and charm. I did return later the same day and he and his wife were very sweet and kind. While the food was ok (not the best I've had) they more than made up for it! I look forward to going back again.
google avatar

Terry P.

Yelp
We were passing through the area and wanted a quick place to grab breakfast and found this gem on yelp. I wanted a classic American breakfast and my gf wanted something simple and quaint, and this was the place she picked. It was like going to an old family friends house - no frills, just good fresh food in a warm and inviting environment. We ordered the veggie omelet with no cheese, eggs with sausage patty plate, chili fries with no cheese, and added the pancakes at the end. Everything was delicious, we will definitely be back! Cash only!

Hello K.

Yelp
Really good food. It just sucks how the owner Daniel and server K drink on the spot while working and serving us customers!

Teri K.

Yelp
Great people, excellent food and value! Only wish it were closer as I can't seem to get a medium over egg out in my area. I don't ever order pancakes, which my sister had , and they were.the best I've tasted anywhere - very light and thin.
google avatar

Kátia M.

Yelp
Cute place. Hash browns are cheap and amazing. Nice atmosphere. Great breakfast spot. Wish I had photos of the FOUR orders of hash browns I was served but my hungover butt devoured that ish QUICK.
google avatar

Steve T.

Yelp
This is place is a hole in the wall.but the food is very tasty. The owner who has been here for 35 years is very nice and polite. The food is good and it is simple. I would recommend trying it.
google avatar

George G.

Yelp
I have been going to Jerrys for 20 years all staff are always inviting and freindly, I would always enjoy going in with my daughter and Yen and molly always greeting us kindly. It felt like family, the food was always good, and many of my friends do come here, always nice to see. All the staff are very attentive and friendly, allways nice to go here even for just a cup of coffee

Brian F.

Yelp
Prices were fantastic. Food was awesome old school diner really enjoyed it. I recommend this to anybody who's in the area to go see these guys it's fantastic.

Julissa R.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast place in Simi valley ! My family and I go every weekend . Definitely feels like a home cooked breakfast. Everything you order here is tasty ! Def recommend.

Rebecca F.

Yelp
Delicious food, cute coffee shop vibe, super nice staff and super nice chef ! Highly recommend, it's a whole experience yum!!

Ivan P.

Yelp
Great place to grab a bite The menu offers classic breakfast food with quick service that is perfect for busy breakfast. The food is flavorful and satisfying, with generous portions that won't leave you hungry. The restaurant has a classic historical and laid-back atmosphere, perfect for a quick bite with friends or family. Highly recommend. We meet Anthony the owner's Son, he was very kind and respectful

Bob C.

Yelp
After living in Simi Valley for years, thought we should give this restaurant a try this morning. It was our first and last visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the character of this Place! I believe it was the owner behind the stove; she was extremely personable and caring to the customers. I love while in wall spots.. and even better if it has that small town feel! I got the eggs and home fries w/ toast - Only $4.75!!! It's a must stop to take you away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life. I'm totally leaving a bigger tip then normal.. we have to keep this Dream Alive! Parking was easy, and plenty of seating also. They not only have a menu, but it's posted on each wall.
google avatar

Melody R.

Yelp
Just like they said, good service, fast and cheap. This is one of those local staples that everyone knows about. I loved the fact that we got our breakfast here in the same time that other places would put out your drinks. Food is simple and ok. Server was SUPER cool. Will be back.
