Google
Overwhelming. I can't believe how lucky Pittsburgh is to have such a gem. We were driving through town in my teenager wanted to stop. I asked the clerk for some obscure records, such as sweet Emma and the preservation jazz Hall band or Della Resse live at the Playboy club from like 1963. The clerk didn't even have to look it up a new right where it was. The prices were extremely reasonable. I think we have to make a trip back just to spend more time there.

Google
You know what? Jerry's is without a doubt one of the greatest record stores of all time! Unfortunately Jerry is no longer with us, but Chris and his fabulous staff are always most friendly and helpful. All genres of music. Massive selection, well organized and chances are if you can't find records to add to your collection here, you're really not a record collector at all! TOP NOTCH! THE VERY BEST!

JD

Google
We love Jerry’s, but they do not carry very little 90s forward! Staff is helpful dependent on the person/day. Plenty of vinyl forms the 50s through 80s. Mostly used, not much new vinyl either It’s definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Jess S

Google
This place is fun to browse, and we'll definitely be back. They didn't have anything I was actively looking for, but we managed to find a few that we wanted regardless. If you can find parking it's worth spending some time here.

Michael Payne

Google
Killer place in Squirrel Hill for vinyl. Their selection is so big you could never look through everything in one day.

Ryan M

Google
Quite possibly the greatest vinyl record shop in the country. Incredible selection of classic rock - also insane amounts of jazz/ blues/ classical/ Christmas etc- more than anywhere else you have ever been. Plan to be here a couple of hours. Staff is awesome. Such a treat to visit this establishment.

Dennis Dura

Google
For vinyl lovers this is heaven. Don't be put off by those that say it's dirty or smells funny...they've never ever been to a used record store. Come with a list or just browse without direction. You will leave with many. Parking sometimes requires a hunt. Cash only so break open that piggy bank.

Google
Absolutely overwhelmingly awesome!! So many forms of media ..they even had CASETTES!!! The jazz section had its very own wing and the soul collection would have made James, Barry, Aretha, and all of the great soul singers of yesteryear very very proud. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made for an even better experience. NEVER would have guessed that Pittsburgh would house such as awesome store, but I'm glad I was able to experience it!

Yelp
I have never seen so many records in one place. Jerry's is awesome. Amazing prices as well.

Brodie N.

Yelp
The atmosphere is incredible! The service is INCREDIBLE! The selection of records that you can get is insane! You could get lost in there, it's that big!! And the value of each individual record is at such a good price. Come here if you don't wanna spend a lot of money, wanna get lost in a happy place, and get away from the norm. This place is incredible, I love it so much!

Yelp
I've been collecting records since 1981 on both coasts and internationally, and I can say without a doubt that Jerry's is the best record store I've ever visited. It has an amazing selection. I spent 2 hours finding gems that I had never seen before. And the prices were very reasonable. Unfortunately, I don't live in Pittsburgh, but I plan to visit as much as I can. Trust me, folks, you MUST go to this record store!
google avatar

Nena U.

Yelp
My first time visiting Jerry's records, and was really pleased with the selection. I can literally spend hours browsing for vinyl. I really like how the records are organized with labels of the band or artist, which is helpful instead of flipping through A-to-Z in a certain genre. The store is very well organized. The street parking wasn't that bad like I anticipated. We look forward to returning.

Yelp
Pretty cool vintage record store! Must visit if you're in the area! They have an unbelievable selection of everything you can think of.

Yelp
This is a great spot to go and browse for records. Go with an open mind because some of the more popular albums are not easy to find nowadays. Also go with a bit of time on your hands. It's enjoyable to just browse the selection and take your time sifting through. They have a huge selection of all genres of music. At one point, I had Marry Poppins, Bing Crosby Christmas, a few jazz and big band artists, and Chicago in my arms. I settled on Jimmy Dorsey, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, and Chicago. It's cash only. If you're unprepared like I was, there is an atm right as you get to the top of the stairs. The fee to get cash is reasonable as well. I got a new age Victrola for Christmas, and Jerry's was a great place to start my vinyl collection.

Yelp
Record overload, rooms among rooms, hallways every corner, there's not one inch of this place not covered with records. Staff is quiet, keeping to themselves unless you ask for assistance, very calm environment. Music every corner playing with different genres. I'm not a record person but even I think it's cool, prices range from $ - $$$! Endless hunting here! Lots of people going in and out.

Yelp
Stopped in with my 14 year old as he's developed an interest in vinyl...I have a collection of vintage LP's. Hadn't been to Jerry's in quite a while, but they have a terrific stock of classic 33's and 45's of most any genre you could think of, including old radio shows. (Sadly, no Colin Hay in stock...lol) Reasonable prices too! I found a couple things, as did the lad...just be aware that they're a cash shop (but they do have an ATM in case you need it). Definately worth a browse if you're into classic vinyl!

Abim I.

Yelp
First of all I am a music addict and when I stepped into this store, my expression was "sweet Mother Mary! What have they done!!" I felt like 6 year old at a candy store and wanted to buy every candy! I have NEVER seen such a collection under 1 roof. The crews were a walking database. I have asked for some oddball artists from various genre and felt they wont know, but to my surprise, not only they knew but also pointed me to the specific row to find that LP. I was blown away! A Mecca for music lover. I only had an hour to spend there... they close at 6pm, which was a bummer. I am gonna go back again someday.

Yelp
Jerry's is one of the best record stores in the country and my personal favorite, beating out California's Amoeba Records. It is easy to spend hours browsing Jerry's voluminous and well organized aisles of used vinyl. Their prices are also very affordable, making it easy to build up a back catalog of a particular artist or genre. Their sweet spot is a huge volume of titles in the $5-$10 range that would sell for more elsewhere. WHAT JERRY'S IS DOING IS MAKING THE VINYL HOBBY ACCESSIBLE TO THE MASSES! That is something many otherwise great record stores fail to do. You also will not encounter any of the stereotypical cooler-than-thou attitude from their staff. That unfortunately is all too common in the business. Their staff is super friendly and knowledgeable-all happy to help you hunt down that esoteric 45 or elusive soundtrack. When I bought too many records to carry home while visiting from out of town, the owner Chris brought out some boxes for shipping, packed my haul perfectly, taped them up and directed me to the post office a block away. All free of charge. Who does that??? THANK YOU JERRY'S!

Lord C.

Yelp
Jerry's is one of the best record stores I've seen in years. There's so much stock that it would take you a month to touch every record. The prices are lower than they could be, & the staff are friendly. There's also a small CD section apart from the rest of the store. My only complaint is that you have to pay for the CDs separately so if you buy both vinyl & CDs you don't benefit as much when they knock a few dollars off your total (like all the best shops will do). It's a must-see for vinyl enthusiasts--but bring cash because they don't accept credit cards. There's an ATM machine on premises that has a high $2.50 fee & a low $200 maximum withdrawal.

Yelp
Wowza!! If you play vinyl this is the store for you! I've never seen such a collection in my life. Amazing variety, super well organized and well priced

Brett A.

Yelp
Wow what a selection. The store has every style of music that you can imagine. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite record store in the entire US. Massive collection, truly in the upper echelon along with stores like Amoeba in LA, Rasputin in Berkeley, and Bananas in St Petersburg. Prices are great, and the owners often knock off bucks when buying in bulk (something easy to do). Vinyl is generally in great shape. All genres, including obscure ones and music from countries around the world. Pretty much the best collection of classical I have seen. You generally won't find the rare or highly sought here, like original blue notes, etc, but there is so much, ya better go with a list, because one's mind tends to go blank upon walking into the store... it is that overwhelming.

Lily M.

Yelp
Never seen so many records in one place! great selection & lots of different genres to choose from! l

Ryan S.

Yelp
The best record store I have ever been to. Be prepared to spend a few hours there. They literally have everything! Cash only, so come prepared
google avatar

Rantoul D.

Yelp
Wow, the sheer number of records in this store is mind boggling. Prices were fair. I'm not a fan of some of their organizing, i.e. the way records are organized. Too much subdivision within genres for my taste, especially as a first time visitor. Would I return if in the area? Darn straight I would!

Yelp
Behold the Holy Grail of Vinyl! If you're a native Pittsburgher like me you've grown up with Jerry's and know how special it is. If you're new to town, visiting or just starting to collect vinyl this is the place for you. Hours and hours of joy and fun can be spent looking through almost any and all records ever made. I always say if Jerry's doesn't have it then no one does.

Yelp
Great way to spend a cold, rainy weekend afternoon. I went alone and had a blast browsing for a couple hours. Went home with some great finds, all reasonably priced. (Bring cash!) The amount of records they have is almost overwhelming, in the best way. I feel like the strategy here is go in with an open mind and see what you find vs. looking for something verify specific. There's something for absolutely everybody. I didn't see any modern vinyl (like today's artists, Urban Outfitters type stuff) which is fine but some people might expect to find that here.

Corrin S.

Yelp
great employees. and so many records. the most massive selection ive ever seen! all for a great price too. definitely recommend.

Yelp
If you are into vinyl, local music, or just enjoy authentic conversations about music you've your Mecca. Jerry's has got to have the largest retail space store of vinyl records in the world. Check out the pics of you don't believe me. Incredible selection of vinyl with the only known major missing music (because it moves so fast when it comes in) as indie rock and progressive rock. Good luck finding that RUsh bootleg or Arcade Fire 'love at wherever. However, many diamonds in the rough here for all types of music and that classified in a clever, I think sometimes humorous manner. The hunt is half the charm, go nuts! They also have probably the largest volume of jazz music I'm going to say in the world because why not, again look a the pics. It's enormous. There is a large selection of Pittsburgh local jazz artist recordings here as well ! Have fun !
google avatar

Bobby S.

Yelp
Great record store in Squirrel Hill but make sure you have got a few hours to browse the records... Prices came up a bit after Jerry sold the place to Chris, the new owner but I guess that is to be expected. A lot of records from every genre you can think of including corny old comedy records, holiday music and a whole room of jazz records... and did I say 2 different areas where you can find Rick James records ? I really wish Chris would get a point of sale system to accept debit cards and credit cards... I personally am much more likely to spend more if I had that option. I realize it cost him a bit of money and there is more bookkeeping and accounting to deal with but the convenience would really be nice in the year 2019 !

Yelp
Stopped in today (1/4 in case the owners want to check who was working) to look at records and check out the Galaxie electronics store that's connected to Jerry's. As I was about to open the door to Galaxie, I could hear someone loudly speaking about "f*cking Obama" and how "that f*cking n*gger" was never born in the US so he should have been removed from office. Some seriously disgusting racist hate speech. After listening for about 30 seconds to make sure I was hearing what i thought I'd heard, I opened the door and discovered a bearded and ponytailed guy in his late 30s/early 40s wearing a black hoodie. He looked at me and hightailed it out of there. No one else was in the store besides the Galaxie employees and from how close he was it was clear that his voice was the one I heard saying all those disgustingly racist things. I looked around Galaxie a bit despite being genuinely disturbed by the hate speech I had just heard. Once I was done I walked into Jerry's and saw that very same ponytailed and bearded guy -- except this time he was WORKING BEHIND THE COUNTER. Considering you're in a progressive neighborhood that's teeming with people of all color and religions, maybe don't have staff that are so openly and unashamedly racist in their place of work? I absolutely loved this store before and have spent hundreds of dollars there building my collection but I will never go jack as long as that sad, racist goon is employed there. Or perhaps his employers share his nauseating views? I genuinely don't know at this point. ============ Updating my review based on the owner's response below and a phone converter just had where i reached out to thank him for his response and swift actions. Thrilled to see this person is no longer working there but, more importantly, that the owner of Jerry's is a decent human being and doesn't tolerate this kind of behavior or speech. I'll be back in Jerry's and building my collection soon! Thank you very much, Chris!

Yelp
MY GOD. This place is BONKERS. There are records upon records up records. As a hardcore record collector as of the past 10 years or so, I nearly had a heart attack when I stepped foot inside. I'm a big fan of 45s and they have multiple, ceiling-high aisle shelves of ALL 45s catering to just that. These records range about $3-$5 but be sure to check out the boxes in the smaller back room for rarer finds for about $7-$10. A couple things to remember: 1) it's cash only but there is an ATM on-site. Best to bring cash before you come anyways 2) the downstairs garage has a lot of $1 finds! 3) make a list of things of your holy grail of records: I was able to find about 90% of my record wishlist (which had some SUPER rare stuff) at Jerry's 4) they're more than a record store- they do repairs next door, have tons of accessories (needles, record storage boxes, record cleaning fluid, etc.) 5) make time to dig- because there is plenty to dig through! There were a couple of really awesome employees who were posted up in the 45s section who were really nice and helpful. Give 'em a genre or band you like and they'll know just the 45 to recommend. The dudes who rang me up were also super nice and quick at getting me through the door. Overall? Jerry's Records wins the title of my Favorite Record Store of all time. I will be making a pilgrimage to PGH just for Jerry's in the very near future.

John R.

Yelp
THE most amazing record store in the world! They probably have close to a million LPs in any genre you can imagine. Was looking for a record of Winston Churchill's voice of his speeches and found not one but five copies. Worth a drive to Squirrel Hill to spend an hour or so browsing. I go there every time I come to Pittsburgh.
google avatar

Noah B.

Yelp
Definitely the best record store I've ever been too. I got some of my all time favorites, Thick as a brick, The Chicago Transit Authority, A Well Tempered Synthesizer, and Tapestry, all for less than 10 dollars a piece. And in the case of the Chicago and Jethro Tull albums they were both first editions and near mint. Hell if it wasn't for the aged exterior of the cover I would've thought the Chicago was new. Not to mention there huge selection and kind staff able to help you find anything you need.
google avatar

Al W.

Yelp
So I was just chilling in the neighborhood and I saw this sign so of course being a Music addict I had to go in. The staff was super friendly and laid-back they even me bring my little puppy Brutus in. I was amazed at how many records they have and how big it was and how very well organized it was I really like that a lot. There was quite the selection of all genres in and quite a variety of each genre I ended up just buying about 4 or 5 albums because I didn't want to spend all my money LOL but I could've gone broke in there. I can't say enough about this great place! They do not accept credit cards cash or checks only If you're at Pittsburgh do you have to stop at here if you like music
google avatar

I R O R O O.

Yelp
A treasure trove, a goldmine, frankly the biggest motherload of quality classic vinyl LPs I've *ever* seen! Imagine 13,000+ sqare feet of jazz, blues, soul, funk, r'n'b, rock, folk, documentaries, comedy, instructionals, soundtracks, etc. You can't find that rare blues/soul/jazz record on ebay or anywhere else. Jerry prolly has it!! And the kicker is that the average price for records here is $3-$4!! Yep, you heard right!! Seriously if you're a vinyl junkie, don't go here unless you have all day to browse and listen ... I allocated 2 hours and it felt like 15 minutes!!! I know folks who make special "record buying" trips to 'da 'Burgh from Canada, just to go to Jerry's. Yes, its that good!!
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
My boyfriend loves coming here so he scours the long stands of records while I listen to music in the corner. They have the biggest collection of records I have ever seen. The large room that you walk into is stocked to the max with every kind of record you could ever think of. You have to come at a fortuitous time in order to get the record that you want because they sell out fast! The people working there are genuinely nice and are willing to help. If you are amassing a record collection this would be the perfect place to go.
google avatar

Dezeree H.

Yelp
Great selection. Good prices. Fun atmosphere. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you get upstairs there are a shit ton of records! You need to spend a few hours here.
google avatar

M. P.

Yelp
I'll always miss Jerry behind the counter. I still looked for him as I entered. Old habits die hard. Gone are the massive, towering stacks of 7" Singles (the collection was sold before Jerry left). Now about 40 white cardboard 45RPM boxes remain. 45s are priced between $3-$5 with a box of betters behind the front counter. I left with a handful of great soul/garage/funk 45s just like old times! Jerry might be gone, but Jerry's Records still remains.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
How many records are in this place?! Does anyone know? Amazing selection, and it's just stacks on stacks on stacks! Great Jazz section, but just tons of everything. We were in from out of town and saw this on a list of best record stores in the US, and it sure did not disappoint. Found one record I've been looking for for years, and wouldn't you know, they had 2 copies of it! Left the second copy for someone else to eventually find though! I do suggest having an idea of what you want to look for, as this place has way too many vinyls to just browse! If I'm ever in town again I will definitely stop by again!
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of going to Jerry's Records while visiting some friends in Pittsburgh. MAN OH MAN!! One of THE BEST record stores I've had the pleasure of visiting!! For me, it's all about the hunt and a good deal, and Jerry's gave me both. I'm not super super picky on mint-condition vinyl. This had what I wanted: * Filled to the brim with vinyl * Organized like you'd want it * Turntables set up to take a listen * Great prices! Go when you have time to dig - you'll be glad you did!

Yelp
Couldn't say enough good things about Jerry's records if I tried. It's huge, the selection is epic, the prices are amazing and it's freaky in a totally non threatening way. So an overview: The selection is unreal. Jerrys has all sorts of stuff! If you're looking for an old album and they don't have it, it's probably because someone came before you to get it. But broadly, they really do have everything: Rock, pop, jazz, classical, soundtracks, alternative, folk and the list goes on. Prices are amazing. Everything is very cheap. Most albums are in the camp of three to seven dollars though a few are as high as nine. If you go to any large city you'll find any of these albums double or triple what Jerry's is asking. You can't get mad at these prices at all. Everything was organized wonderfully. Jerry's is huge and the fact that everything is so well organized makes a huge difference. If you're like me and there's always few specific records your looking to add to your collection, a place like Jerrys can be overwhelming at first glance. However, if you know what you want the organization of the store makes it super approachable. The one caveat is the quality of some the album conditions. A lot of the album covers here are in rough shape. I didn't notice any issues with the records themselves and I looked through a ton. Didn't really see anything in mint and very few items in near mint. Also, If you're looking for new records don't come here. It's all old stuff. Really don't waste your time. If you live anywhere around The greater Pittsburgh area or are in town, you have to check out Jerry's. You won't regret it!
google avatar

Rob A.

Yelp
This place is huge. They have big areas in each music type too. You can find just about anything here. Often you can find multiple copies of what your looking for and you can decide on which price/condition you want. As far as their prices go they are actually reasonable too. They even have a section downstairs in an old garage that is all bargain stuff. Still pretty decent condition. Jerry is cool too. I once went shopping for Weird Al 45s and when I went to the counter was like $1 short. I was going to put one back and he said not to and sold me my little stash for what I had on me. SWEET! He has even rounded down on more than one occasion too. They always have records playing too. All different kinds and it is all good. There are plenty of turn tables with headphones around so you can listen to what you are interested in too just to make sure it sounds the way it looks. Or, for whatever. AWESOME!
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
We love this place! We come here every time we're in the 'burgh and my husband is like a kid in a candy shop. The staff and fellow vinyl junkies are always super cool and helpful and there is a huge variety of collectible records and even some CDs. I love the smell and how it's so comfortable. The music they play is always great and the prices are also more than fair. If you're in the area, definitely check it out!

Chris H.

Yelp
A huge amount of inventory, great customer service and support and very friendly people inside, I highly recommend this record store!
google avatar

Nathan M.

Yelp
Visited with my girlfriend to shop for Christmas. My girlfriend asked whether they had any Nick Drake. Apparently the lightly bearded fat man behind the counter took offense at the inquiry, and announced in a loud voice, "Yeah, let me just book out to get some Nick Drake!" Apparently his record-store sensibility had been offended. Was looking for Tapestry by Carol King. They didn't have it. Ordered it on Amazon for $23.72 and will have it in time for Christmas. Don't have time for the attitude.

Yelp
Sweet lord, what a record store. I recently bought a turntable after a long time of not owning one. Shortly afterwards, I started doing research for best record stores in the 'Burgh, starting with the reviews right here on Yelp. Jerry's came up first. The reviews for Jerry's sounded like my kinda place. My only worry was that it's located in Squirrel Hill and I was fearing some kind of godawful traffic jam heading up 376 over the weekend, but luckily it wasn't a game day and nothing else was going on in the city, so it was smooth sailing up to exit 74. Just a hop off the interstate, a left turn, and then another left and then blammo! There's Jerry's in all its glory. I was actually nervous and excited driving up to it. I can't say I've been excited about going into a record store in ages, but the reviews made the place sound awesome. So in I went, climbing up the steps to the second floor. Man, those steps have quite the degree of incline to 'em. I walk into the first little room and it's cluttered. Awesome. So I squeeze past the couple of employees going through some new stuff and into the main room. It was like heaven opened up. So many records. Where does one begin? I checked out the most popular stuff up front first, then quickly ditched that idea and just jumped into the deep end. A Greg Kihn album first, then a Re-Flex LP, some Robert Palmer and Steely Dan that I never had on vinyl, and on it went. I'd keep remembering tings to look for, and go rushing about. And then I tried my best to browse the 45s, but it was too overwhelming. Then I discovered the classical section, and the huge room devoted to jazz LPs, and the huge comedy selection. When did it end? How many records were in this place? Like other reviewers have stated, if you love vinyl, you're gonna spend a ton of time in here just looking and looking and looking. And Jerry was playing some great tunes to shop to as well, so that's always a plus. I was in there almost two hours and I could have stayed longer. I spent 30 bucks on my finds. As I handed my cash to Jerry, he told me to remember to check out the basement section located downstairs right next door. "Lots of good rock records in there for a buck," he told me. My mind imploded. I walked downstairs and back outside and pondered visiting the basement, but I decided to save that for the next time. If I hadn't had more shopping to do that day, I would have gone in and lost even more time and money in the best way I could ever imagine. I got home and all my records were in impeccable shape and sounded amazing. Having vinyl again reminds me of when I was a kid and would buy records and would just sit around and listen to them all the way through, looking at the covers and reading the lyrics sheets if they were included, and just listening. I haven't had that experience in a long time. It's easy to forget after years of CDs and mp3s on shuffle all the time. I'm definitely going to be a customer of Jerry's for the long haul. Definitely the most amazing record store I've ever visited.

Yelp
Dude. Duuuuude. This place is absolutely IN. SANE. I just... I can't get over it. Jerry's was the first record store I visited in Pittsburgh and I seriously thought, "This is it. I've been to the record store to end all record stores". It's hardly EVEN a record store, much less a gigantic warehouse stuffed to the brim with all things vinyl related. Things I love about Jerry's: Great for everything before 2000 Amazing prices The sheer quantity Wide variety Things I don't really love about Jerry's: THE AMOUNT OF RECORDS HERE IS JUST SO OVERWHELMING OMG No new releases The environment/atmosphere - super musty That being said, if you go to Jerry's, either plan your trip to be at LEAST an hour long or know exactly what you're looking for prior to visiting. I've only gone here a few times and every time, I spend the first half hour staring dumbfounded and confused. Really, just go to the back and look at their aisles and aisles of 45's. Absolutely absurd. Addendum: Make sure to test things out on the turntable they have there! I've picked up some records that have been quite scratched (still playing it and loving it). Also, they are CASH ONLY, so make sure to prepare accordingly!

Yelp
What a great record store! Every city has a record store like this. SF has Amoeba, NY has Bleecker Music and so on. Jerry's has Pittsburg covered. It's just outside of the city in a second floor walkup. As you go up the stairs, you see vinyl being used to cover up the wood that supports the handrail. Once you get to the top of the stairs, you see what looks like a dump truck worth of records that are getting sorted and priced for the store. As you walk in, you become overwhelmed with vinyl. It's everywhere! This is great because they have every style you could think of. You literally have from Dixieland to Plastikman! The first day I came to Jerry's I took it all in and went straight for my "go to" rock artists. Unfortunately, they didn't have "Wish You Were Here" or "Coda", but did have "Tommy" and "Classic Yes". This is probably because people go straight for these sought after artists (as I did). I headed back the next day having a good idea of what areas to hit and how to prioritize the order I dig. After only 2 hours I got a healthy stack of 14 records. This is only 1/3 of records I wanted to look through, but my budget and time limited me to that. Many gems came to me as most older records should. I could list them, but that would add some hefty paragraphs to this review....and bore those who aren't into the finds. The topper to this all was that each record was 3 or 4 dollars. The "better" LPs were 7 and 8 dollars. Most were in very good condition. If there were any blemishes, they were accounted for during pricing. They do a good job at being fair all around. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was because I'm unable to give a 4 1/2. I couldn't give it a 5, because some styles and artists were everywhere, which makes it more time consuming and difficult to dig and find. This happens at any big record store with many different genre's. Since, I worked at a record store for 5 years....I get how difficult that task is and don't hate. All in all, this is definitely a "must stop in" spot when in town..

Yelp
Great record store. A few hours here didn't even scratch the surface. I found a lot of well priced records that I can't find in Portland. Friendly employees. Good pizza recommendations in the hood. They hooked me up with some cool local suggestions too. My kind of record store. To the guy who asked the name of the pizza place across from Powell's it was Rocco's before Sizzle pie. Thanks!

Yelp
I bought my parents a new record player for Christmas and I have never seen them so excited about a present before. My sisters and I grew up listening to my parents' records but when the needle broke on their record player, we obviously weren't able to listen to them anymore. I've missed listening to them ever since. With my dad's birthday being 4 days after Christmas, I knew I wanted to get him some new records as a present. I went to Jerry's for the first time and was completely amazed at the store. I've never seen so many records in my life. They were EVERYWHERE. There were rows upon rows of organized records along with stacks towering high above me all over the place. I was a little overwhelmed but luckily the rows were wonderfully organized and I found records for three of my dad's favorite bands in only 20 minutes! The best part was that all three only cost me $20! when they easily were $25 each online! I didn't know the store didn't take cash but Jerry let me run to Mineo's Pizza to get some cash out to pay, no problem. He was really friendly and understanding (It helps that he reminds me of Jerry Garcia!). My dad loves his new records and I promised to take him to Jerry's when he comes to visit me next. I know he will be as amazed as I was!

Yelp
Bought a rather expensive record here and had a skip on my player. Wasn't sure if it was the record or my player so I took it back to see if they could do anything and they were more than helpful. They gave it a deep clean, played it multiple times where the skip was, very friendly throughout the whole process. The people I dealt with went above and beyond with helping me and wanted to make sure I left happy, which I did. Amazing experience and super helpful guys

Yelp
OK - block out an afternoon ! Jerrys is packed with more LPs than any leveled headed person needs / wants but if yer looking for a record by a choral group from an orphanage in upstate New York, an armless piano player, Psychic TV, a Hawaiin Steel Guitar album or some other stange assortment - here's yer stop so get off & enjoy the view. Tons of this stuff NO ONE is EVER gonna buy. Been going their for 10 years & the same Don Ho LPs are there but there's always new stuff coming in for sure which makes the trip always worthwhile. One thing ya have to do is check condition. It seems they get a bit hap hazard at times or they just want to have an oddball item in the bins even though it may be a bit sub standard on condition. But, I must note that when I've come across an item in not so great shape its been priced according. So, if there's an original Otis Redding Dictionary of Soul LP on Stax marked at $1.99 - there's a reason! I always ending up leaving Jerry's with about $100 worth of very fair priced vinyl and am always eager to stop here next time i'm around Western PA for work. Definitely worth your time & money . Good clerks, too, and I always have a cool chat about some oddball non-musical topic.... since talking about matrix #'s in the dead wax can get a little wearysome.

Yelp
Wow! Too bad I don't have a turntable! 'Cos this place specializes in vinyl. They have records, records, and more records. Me, I have a huge CD collection. I don't believe in MP3 players (because if you only have songs downloaded, you don't really have a music collectiom, do you?). There are some purists who believe that the best sound is on vinyl and my father is one of them. To back up a moment, my husband Rick was out of town for the day on one of his railfan jaunts. So my brother Paul and I decided to get together, hang out, and maybe get a little Christmas shopping out of the way. Dad likes music as much as we do, He even likes more current bands like Arcade Fire and Snow Patrol. We decided that some used LPs would make a big splash with the old man. On an earlier family visit, I pilfered his record and CD collection while Paul created a diversion. We decided upon getting him "Damn the Torpedos" from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and a rare LP by The Busboys. Man, I have got to get me a turntable! This place is awesome and I could spend hours in here. Now isn't shopping and browsing at a place like this way more fun than Amazon or E-Bay?

Yelp
Jerry's sells non-recent music on vinyl, either used or collectible. I've known DJs from NYC who took bookings to Pittsburgh simply for the excuse to go to here. You can spend hours in this store. They have more records than any other record store I've had the luck to see. More of their records are things you'd actually want to buy. Their prices are cheap. Their staff is friendly. For what they do, I've never seen better.

Yelp
Jerry's is my favorite record store. You can spend an entire afternoon here searching through the records without even realizing it. It's all older used records (if you are looking for newer stuff try Paul's in Bloomfield) and if you take the time to search, mixed among the thousands of non-relevant artists you can find some real gems at a CHEAP price. I found Rust Never Sleeps and Live Rust by Neil Young at Jerry's for $4 a piece. These same records I saw at Amoeba in San Francisco for almost $30 a pop. Take some time to talk to Jerry the owner. He isn't shy about discussing his musical tastes and will tell you if he doesn't like yours!

Yelp
How do you write a review worthy of a place so good? Without a doubt, Jerry's is the best record store I've been in. Three words may be able to sum up Jerry's: Quantity Diversity Price And Quality could be thrown in there too, but 3 words looks better. Anyway, the first thing you notice walking up the steps to Jerry's is the smell of the old records, and you just get a feeling for the journey they've taken to arrive there. Jerry's selection is unrivaled anywhere in the city, and likely in most of the country. Hundreds of thousands of records fill the large main room and multiple back rooms. Genres span everything that's ever been recorded on vinyl: rock, bluegrass, county, opera, jazz, rap, funk, spoken word, new age, motown... The list goes on. I've heard he's even got a warehouse full of records yet to be seen. And one of the most amazing things is that the entire selection is categorized and organized with incredible accuracy. Th guys at Jerry's do a great job of this. If you can't find something, they do, just ask. And his prices can not be beat. Most records are $3 or $4, sometimes up to $8 for really popular ones, but that is a rarity. Best of all, I think Jerry listens to nearly every record that comes through the door. If you're lucky enough to find one that he's marked "GREAT!"...buy it! You will not be disappointed. Whenever I need a fix for some great tunes, Jerry's is the place to go.
