We stopped her a few years ago with friends we were visiting, the food is good. Home cooking at its best. The homemade rolls are reminiscent of the rolls the ladies in the elementary school made every week.

The chicken fried steak lives up to the hype. Highly recommended. Its nice and cozy here, unless its filled with people of course.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Delicious Food, Great Atmosphere, and Something for Everyone!” We had such a wonderful experience at Jerry’s Restaurant in Onalaska, TX! I ordered the catfish po’ boy, and it was incredibly fresh — the bread was soft and flavorful, and the tartar sauce on the side was perfect. We also enjoyed a basket of warm biscuits with their white country gravy, and let me tell you… amazing. I couldn’t resist ordering the fried green tomatoes (because I love them), and they did not disappoint — crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My husband got the chicken fried steak, and of course I had to try a bite… it was excellent. Our two picky eaters gave their full approval to the jumbo burger and popcorn chicken, which says a lot! The atmosphere was great, the service was friendly, and everything came out hot and fresh. I grabbed two slices of pie to go, and even after running errands, they held their shape perfectly — and tasted just as amazing when we finally got home. Highly recommend Jerry’s if you’re looking for a satisfying, home-style meal that hits the spot!

Food was impeccable! Perfect cozy, mom and pop you could tell everything was homemade. We stumbled upon this restaurant just driving through town but we plan on making this a normal restaurant on our rotation despite being about an hour from the house!

My first time at this little country diner. Better than expected. Prices average. Food and service was excellent. I will be eating there again on my next trip to Onalaska soon. Little hidden Gem of a cafe. I highly recommend this place.

Our friends invited us to have lunch with them at Jerry’s. They had a great selection and great prices. The service was excellent and the waitress was friendly and helpful. I had the chicken bacon on rye with fries and my husband had the special - roast beef with gravy with a choice of three sides and a dessert. The food was delicious and the amount generous.

Omelet was flat with unmelted shredded cheese hanging out, all with very little flavor. Hash browns were burned on the top but under-cooked on the bottom. My whole meal was room temperature and greasy. I used a napkin to take some grease off the top of the omelet. Overall just unappealing. Yes, friendly wait staff but that can't carry a completely unappealing breakfast. $32 for two for breakfast so a little pricey for subpar food.

Just had breakfast of eggs, sausage and a pancake which covered the whole plate, just a nice little home town place and you couldn't ask for better service.

Very patriotic place! Filled to the brim with red, white and blue decor. Serving up good ole American favorites for breakfast like grits delicious) and eggs and some awesome loaded hashbrowns with cheese, sour cream and fresh chives. If your sweet tooth is calling, you can't get more American than apple pie! Jerry's has a selection of beautiful pies in lots of flavors, including my fav, coconut cream (heavy on the meringue, please). We salute Jerry's for being such an authentic local place to eat!

This is a nice country spot too eat. Catfish was great and the atmosphere was quiet and felt like my grandmas house with all the country home trinkets on the walls. The service was friendly and fast. The food was good. Worth trying if you're in the area. There's not a ton of other places to eat around and this seems like a top spot.

Small town restaurant so we weren't expecting much. The ribeye and filet were pretty good! The "hostess" seated us and I asked what they had to drink. The usual Coke, tea or other drink choices were offered. No mention of wine choice or any other alcoholic beverage. So I ordered lemonade and my wife ordered tea. Upon looking around I see a sign with a few wine choices and alcoholic beverages. Asked for a merlot with my steak. Chilled upon serving the wine?! Red wine? I'm sure the waitstaff is used to beer with whatever is served. The steak was ummmm ordered medium rare to be safe. You be the judge by the picture. I will say that the steaks were perfectly seasoned and tasty. Maybe because we showed up at eight on a Saturday? Not sure but for a little itty bitty town they were pretty okay. No offer of dessert which was disappointing.

My family and I had dinner here today & it was amazing!!! This place is MUST if you are in the area! The homemade cornbread and rolls were out of this world!!! We ordered the catfish plates, which were tasty, fresh, and well battered. The chicken fried steak plate was massive! There are so many good sides to choose from & they have awesome appetizers. I highly recommend the boudin balls! The employees were all so kind & provided excellent service. We will definitely be making another trip out there for dinner again soon.

Food was delicious and the portions were generous. I had the chicken breast sandwich with bacon on toasted rye bread with French fries and my husband had the roast beef special that came with three sides, a dinner roll plus dessert for under &13! The service was quick and friendly and efficient.

Breakfast was the worst breakfast I've ever had in a restaurant. The service of ok and the settling and environment is nice. But if the food ain't good what's the point? Caked with tons and tons of vegetable oil.

We called in our order. Food was great! Owner was there and talked to us! She was very nice!! Great rolls, catfish & German chocolate cake!!!

The food goid A bit pricey but a good place for specisl ocassions if you are on a linited income. Servings sre generious and you can get a doggie bag if needed. Wonderful choices on menu so you are not limited to mexican food or hamburger . The only needed restaurant is true thai food and was glad to find this variation in food choices and i recommend the fish Although friends say they also have other delicious. Good family atmosphere.

This is the 3rd consecutive time I've gotten food from Jerry's that had absolutely no seasoning in their food. There's literally no flavor in anything from their fried catfish, to their shrimp po boys, to their chicken fries steak sandwich. And take a look at this picture, there's like only the smallest smidgeon of white gravy on top, couldn't even taste the gravy, one, because no seasoning, and two, because of the lack of presence in the 1st actual place. Service is slow and inattentive, takes me usually five minutes from walking in the drop to being acknowledged by any staff. Definitely deserves this half star rating.

We really like this place for breakfast. My husband loves their porkchop breakfast and for me the blueberry pancakes. It's not gourmet food, just good home cooking. I would have given it 5 stars if I had tried more of their menu but I have only had their pancakes.

Popped in after a long day of travel with a large group, and they accommodated us well. They have all you can eat catfish on the weekends that everyone said was absolutely amazing and our waitress, Gerri took good care of us. Some of our fried food came out cold, but that's to be expected with a group our size. Overall, good experience and will be back! Ask for Geri when you arrive!

Tried this place on the recommendation of a customer. Burger lacked flavor. Nothing special. Had jalapeños added at least but still couldn't save the burger. Coworker felt the same. Needed more spice. Service was average at best. Overall a bit of a disappointment. Doubt will be back.

Onion rings, green beans, fried chicken and fried okra will make your grandma jealous. Very delicious!

I never do this but today I have too. The bacon was the worst I have ever eaten. When I tell you I have eaten bad bacon that's a understatement. They must have got a bad batch. I still recommend Jerry's just don't do the bacon.

This restaurant is so amazing, food reminds me of home. Jessica is the best waitress we ever had, we are so impressed with her we always ask for her when we go. I promise ask for Jessica you won't be let down. I hope they know what a great person they have working for them. We always choose this restaurant if Jessica working.

Good, Homemade food!! We were starving and not expecting much so decided to stop here. Very glad we did!! The beef tips with rice tasted like grandma used to make! The fried green tomatoes were perfect, and the pecan pie was worth the calories!! Remember to ask for ROLLS!!! Yummy in my tummy!!

Love this place. Great food and good service. Portions are big. Highly recommend. It's a popular place so it can be busy but we'll worth the wait. Chicken fried steak is amazing.

Start your day with the chicken fried steak breakfast and you will be able to skip lunch and come back for the fried pork chops for dinner. This small town place is big on portions and flavor. The breakfast chicken fried steak took up over half the plate. I save the dinner one pass buy and it covered the entire plate. Plan on it taking a little longer, it is a small town place and they are not In city hustle mode but they are very friendly and the food is very hot. So you know it just came out and hasn't been left under a heat lamp. I will be back next time Ian in town.

The food is decent, but the place is full of dusty clutter. Get rid of the decor, and focus on food. The wait staff also looks dirty, like they possibly worked in their back flower beds before they came into work (their clothes). Another problem is that it easy to see in the kitchen, again dirty. The bathrooms, dirty. These are all super easy problems to fix. Clean up a bit, and have take your wait staff out to dinner in humble or the woodlands. Establish a dress code that hides filthy looking clothes from home, tattoos, etc. The wait staff is nice enough, but they aren't professional. This could be a great hidden jewel, and people would travel from miles around with just a little professional help. The place looks like a resale store on the inside... remember what pays the bills! That dusty decor is just taking up valuable floor space.

Worst place I've ever eaten. Barely got waited on and food took an hour and arrived burnt. Avoid this place.

If you enjoy eating with flies, this is the place. Ask waitress if she could do something about the flies. "Nope" was her answer. I worked in pig pens that did have this many flies. The flies were fornicating on my table. Unbelievable! If it's like this in the front think about where they are preparing your food.

Very welcoming and wait staff was very familiar with what they were serving. Definitely was the highlight of my week in Onalaska.

Good home style food. We visited last month and it was memorable. Had the lunch special which was smothered beef and dessert. Brussel sprouts with cheese were soft and delicious! The boys loved their burgers. We ate until we were full and there were still leftovers to take home.

Been here several times. Food is pretty good for the area. Place is pretty dated as is the menu however it's been working for them and it's what the locals want. It isn't trendy and does have a smoking section that can bother sensitive people. It does however have super friendly staff and customers alike and is a great place to mingle with the locals. There is music on weekend nights and a steam table lunch so you can get in and out pretty fast.

This is home cooking.. so if you're in a hurry. This is not for you. BUT..if you are on a pleasure day out and have time to sit down and eat some good home style cooking, this should be on your list of stops

Nice and clean all American style cafe. The service was fast and the staff was very friendly. I had breakfast and it was what you would expect. I haven't yet tried anything else on the menu it I'm planning to go back. The dining area was nice with a relaxed atmosphere.

Great find! Everything was prepared the way we ordered I think we found our new favorite sandwich place... and soups. Thank you for having the "dine in" service. We'll be back for more. Grilled chicken was juicy, and yummy according to my picky little chicken eater.

Great food and great service and it was reasonably priced. I had the philly cheese steak sandwich and the homemade fries and they were both delicious! They got a variety on the menu and a great selection of homemade deserts!

Insanely large burgers. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices and Cajun Chef Tabasco peppers on every table. What more could you want? In the heart of beautiful downtown Onalaska.

I had the chicken fried steak , OMG !!! Best ever !! Gravy was perfect , and the breading was delicious !!!

Decent food, fun interior. Good place if you're in Onalaska. But they significantly raised prices for covid (a $17 order came out to $28) and didn't let us know until we came to pick up the order. Seafood was really disappointing, but we liked the philly. Ask for an update on price when you order. Doubt we will be returning.

CFS breakfast is delicious . CFS took up half plate. Yummy I saw my waitress maybe 2x. Her service was not that good. Heard the waitress in the back talking about people. Watch what you say about people never know who is listening. But the food was awesome. I will come back for another CHICKEN FRIED

Staying at Lake Livingston KOA so this place is just half mile away. We had breakfast which was omelettes which was good. The bacon is delicious and coffee is good. Then the next night we went and had the salads. I had grilled chicken breast and hubby had the chefs. They were good. We ordered a margarita, which I do not recommend it was just mix no tequila for $9.50. Friends got these giant onion rings and they were delicious. The chicken fried steak is huge

A very solid place to eat in Onalaska (for the most part). The food is generally very good and reasonably priced. It's southern-style cooking. The fried shrimp and catfish are excellent. Really, everything is good. The breakfast meals are truly outstanding. Whoever is cooking the meals should get a nice pay raise! Be sure to bring your appetite because they don't skimp on the portions! Everyone I've had with me at Jerry's has enjoyed the food. And, you know, I'd really love to give it 5 stars, but my only gripe is the same as some other reviewers on here: clean it up a bit! The decor is outdated, no doubt. I once had a hair in my salad. Also, when you're there for lunch, it's almost a crime to have to wait 15 to 20 minutes to get your check. (People have to get back to work, right?!) It's those kind of things that keep it from a 5-star review. The owner is VERY nice and pleasant, but I wish she would tighten up the ship a bit. I'll keep going there because the food is good and reasonably priced, but I wish it would go that extra yard to become excellent.

Definitely a place to stop and try! Quite little cafe feel and look, Debbie was helpful and kind to an elderly gentleman who was a little less than patient but she took the time and made sure he understood and got what he wanted to eat (he couldn't read the menu) Sherrie our waitress was great with us as we told her it was a out first time here. I ordered the avocado, bacon Swiss burger and replaced the fries with the onion rings (you can't sub and must pay for the full order) but man the burger is huge, and there was a tower of rings! The flavor was great, food was fresh, and you can tell it's not that frozen junk! Will be making a few more visits here! Also we mentioned it was my birthday The PIE is awesome!
