"A passion for bodybuilding and burgers has proven to be a better Jersey Shore love story than anything that’s ever aired on MTV. On select dates throughout the year, Burger Buff pops up in partnership with local coffee shops, restaurants, and businesses up and down the Shore offering up perfectly fatty and lacey double-patty smashburgers. Access to the now infamous lacey, cheese-and-sauce-laden burgers can only be achieved through scoring a ticket, and quantities are limited. This is a can’t-miss, burger-eating experience, though. Follow them on Instagram for upcoming dates, locations, and ticket information." - Michael Sinatra

Google
The best gym I've ever been to. They're open 24/7 and the gym is always clean. Plus the memberships are suuuuper affordable. I love working out here!

I was down visiting the Jersey Shore this past weekend (live in PA) and asked if I could take a look around this gym. Absolutely beautiful! (In it's own unique, hardcore way) I was in absolute heaven. I told my girlfriend I would sleep in a cot in the basement at this place if I could. Any one who is lucky enough to live around this and train here, I salute you. Absolute gem and I'll get a lift in the next time I am down. -Spaz

Google
It's definitely better than most commercial gyms, especially if you're a casual gym goer. I'm not, and I've grown so accustomed to my powerlifting gym that it's quite the step down. There are two owners: Greg and John. Greg is great and gets along with just about anyone. John, on the other hand, can get moody. Don't let his mood ruin your day.

Google
Great old school gym with good management and staff and very loyal members. Much of the equipment is on the older side but kept in good working condition. Focus is on lifting although there is a good amount of cardio equipment and classes (have never done a class there). They have recently replaced a rack of old style dumbbells with new rubber coated ones and added some new bars and other equipment. Rumor has it that they are adding more new equipment soon. Being open 24/7/365 is a great advantage too. Highly recommend, especially if you are a serious lifter.

Google
Nepotism ruined another great business. Used to be THE gym to lift if you were serious. Now it’s a complete joke. No wonder why these smaller hardcore gyms are popping up all over and are very successful.

Google
This gym is awesome. Here for a week and couldn't have been happier to find a solid gym with a ton of equipment

DJ

Google
An iconic gym to go to get in a good workout in. Nothing more, but added some good classes I've heard just haven't had time! $53 month to month as i travel a lot so best for me or can get cheaper if do 3 months-yearly memberships i believe around $35 about "a dollar a day" Can get lil to crowded at times, just wish they had better Wi-Fi i still feel stuck in 1997 sometimes when im there! lol

Google
The gym discriminates against foreigners which is illegal and immoral. My girlfriend and I went to the gym and they threatened to deny entry because she was not American. Extremely discriminatory and behind time

Yelp
Great body building gym. One of my favs. Anytime I'm visiting Asbury this will be my spot.

A J.

Yelp
Close because you are very old machines and air quality and ventilation system is very poor.

Alexander J.

Yelp
this gym is crazy packed with amazing equipment that spends I think for decades: equipment is the best of all four decades: I even think they have a crunch machine from the days of Nautilus: this is an amazing place how everything makes the muscles have good hits: you get huge in a hurry here

Chris A.

Yelp
this gym was awesome. Old school feel, three floors with a tons of equipment. It's clean, ad $20 for a day pass. I'd definitely return

Brian A.

Yelp
Great gym Good pricing Very clean Great equipment Will be back on my next trip to the Jersey Shore

Yelp
This place took a situation that could have been nothing into a World War!!! Good equipment but worst management in history. This started off with the manager Jake and ended with the equally as rude owners. I was grabbing my coat from the bathroom and my boyfriend was a step in (no one was in there). After Jake told him to get out, and he did, Jake then proceeded to called my bf a little girl, threatened my membership when i tried to defuse the situation, then blocked my phone number when I asked to speak to another manager. Granted my bf should not have reacted the way he did to Jake's comment, but this has nothing to do with me. After threatening my membership right off the bat on the phone, I had to drive down there to speak to someone else, sobbing my eyes out. Who put this asshole in a position of authority? like seriously. i'm so upset :( UPDATE: Jake terminated my membership LOL. The owners are equally as immature and insufferable. I called to dispute the termination of my membership and they said there's a "gym on every corner," proceeded to say I was a disturbance for trying to end a fight between an EMPLOYEE AND A CUSTOMER as THE CUSTOMER. In addition to driving down on another occasion to speak to someone else because Jake blocked my number on the company phone WTF. They then blatantly said I was "mad they took the side of the manager." SIDE? is this recess? Never met such a rude and disrespectful group of individuals. This place is run by drama queen teenagers. In addition, this situation that had nothing to do with me and tried to threaten the cops on me and couldn't because I did nothing wrong haha. Grow the fuck up.

Yelp
What's great gym - super friendly and more equipment that you will ever need Don't hesitate to sign up

Jake G.

Yelp
Old school gym. Great vibe to it. Loved it! Definitely recommend going! Staff was great

Rob B.

Yelp
This is an amazing old school strength training facility with a ridiculous amount of free weight, machines, and cardio equipment. Clean, open 24hrs, and super friendly staff. If you're staying at the shore and don't want to miss a training session hit this place up

Tim D.

Yelp
This gym is a joke. It's run by children. It is an ongoing battle to get me in contact with the owner for a complaint. They threaten memberships left and right worse than planet fitness. Jake is extremely rude and pretends to be the owner, even to a whole ass police department. Most other employees are great and don't give anyone a hard time, in fact, my girlfriend and I have become very friendly with many employees and fellow members who would all agree that we are friendly, respectful, clean our equipment, rerack our weights, and bring a positive attitude into the gym without EVER having any issues or conflicts. That being said, because Jake is a manager, it quite literally ruins the entire experience. He is unproffessional, rude, degrading, and overall one of the worst humans I've ever encountered. After obeying his commands without any hesitation or fighting, he INITIATED personal, insulting comments with provocation such as "I bet you like being in the girl's bathroom" and later calling me a "punk-ass kid." As he is a manager, and a self-proclaimed owner, I find this to be extremely embarrassing and completely unprofessional. Although I believe no one regardless of their position of authority should ever behave that way, he as "the face of the gym" should be held to much higher standards when speaking to paying customers. This whole situation is absolutely absurd. It's a total shame too because I loved everything about this gym prior to this incident that could've been handled so much better. If the management was not the way it was, it would be a near perfect gym. Unfortunately, Jake is a manager. On an additional note, while the website states they have gender neutral bathrooms, I got banned for being one foot inside the women's room where only my girlfriend was as we were packing our things and getting ready to leave. And the most insane and unbelievable part.... without any warranting at all, my GIRLFRIEND'S membership was then also banned after she was LITERALLY trying to defuse the situation and prevent further conflict!!! Furthermore, I had to drive 30 minutes back and forth multiple times to be able to talk to a different manager because she was hung up on everytime she asked for another manager to assist or mediate the situation! She has since been in constant, incredible emotional distress, understandably so. I sincerely hope their management can get its act together so that this gym can one day be a welcoming place to work out at again.

Yelp
I used to attend this gym years ago. I always thought it was so cool that they allow "No Contract" memberships. Like most I am sick of the "ABC Financial/let me cuff you to a contract" gyms; with lockdown contracts that nobody really wanted to sign. This gym is for people who truly want to workout. Its not one of those "look cute in yoga pants and say Namaste" gyms that Karen goes to. This gym is full of weights and machines meant to get you ripped. Its not a "spoiled chic" gym. Back when I first signed up the guy who enrolled me was on Playstation playing his boy. I was like YES! They signed me up for a no contract weekly deal. Upon walking into the weight areas everybody was "big as hell." I felt right at home with the other "brahs." The best thing about this gym is its location. It was originally an old fire station I believe so it has a ton of levels. Its located near the train station and the bus which comes down main street. Its also the Jersey Shore so in the summer this gym is the place to be. All kinds of people are catching the train to and fro heading to the beaches. Nothing like getting your lift on and then showering and heading to the beach to flex. The gym was so flexible that I had first decided to sign up for a week to try it out. Once I found out that I loved it I wanted to upgrade to a monthly. So rather than charge me full price they just had me pay the difference to upgrade. Man I miss this gym. I hope you guys are still doing it big at the gym. I called during my summer vacation and they seemed as cool as ever with quoting me their prices for the summer. Keep up the goodwork at this gym and keep growing guys!

Yelp
Bottom line: Jersey Shore Fitness Shop is a solid hardcore/old school gym, open 24/7. A well stocked place with plenty of both old and newer equipment in an atmosphere that motivates and gets the job done for not only the weightlifter/bodybuilder but all fitness enthusiasts. I got a great workout in at JSFS and look forward to more...I am a fan! The Deets: I got to try this gym out with a bud of mine, and I have to say Jersey Shore Fitness Shop really is a great old school weightlifting gym. Though it appears geared for the hardcore lifter/bodybuilder, it's for every fitness enthusiast and I saw a spectrum of users there. It's got a well stocked gym of both old classic workout equipment (barbells, dumbbells, metal plates, even Nautilus equipment) and more modern items like Hammer Strength, etc. as well as cardio equipment and other items. If you dig a gym that concentrates more on the functional aspects and not the aesthetics of a gym then JSFS is your kind of place. It's really a motivational atmosphere. There's more than one floor of equipment so it's bigger than you think, and it's pretty good sized just on the main floor itself. The desk staff was nice and accommodating, and projected a positive demeanor. For the most part, fellow lifters were very easy going and polite (exchanging hellos and asking before using items etc.), contributing to the motivational atmosphere...except for one bad apple that just came right in front of us and started using the machine we were using with no apologies (apparently he had been using it, walked far away for an long period of time and did not explain at all when he returned, not one word, until we asked him). Luckily there was a duplicate machine available and we kept getting on with our workout, easy fix. This one guy didn't ruin our workout, does not reflect on the gym and its staff of which both were good. I look forward to other visits to JSFS in the future. I recommend a workout at Jersey Shore Fitness Shop if you get the chance!

Yelp
I used to Love this gym, sadly can't sign up anymore because I missed a few payments before COVID and 50 + dollars a month for no contract is absurd. GG

Yelp
This place is a joke the bathrooms are really nasty there's only like two they always stopped up you can go somewhere a lot nicer newer equipment for a lot cheaper price

Jill T.

Yelp
I've been going to this gym for over a year now. It is the best. They honestly NEVER close. Hurricanes, Nor' Easters, they are always open. The gym has a very friendly and small staff, it's super clean, machines are always in running order. If you're looking for the kind of place that hands you a towel when you walk in and whips you up a fruit smoothie, this is not it, but that''s why i like it... There are no sign up fees or contractual commitments. You can pay for a day pass, a week or a month without having to sign your life away to automatic debits and other BS. I am moving out of state next Spring and this gym is the biggest thing I will miss about New Jersey, You just can't find 24 hour gyms like this anywhere. Side note* the place can be a little intimidating for women at first glance, but don't let the first floor Rocky style gym scare you. Upstairs is much more fem-friendly.

Yelp
Excellent gym, especially if into weightlifting and/or bodybuilding. Kind of like a jersey shore version of muscle beach in Venice or like an old school Golds Gym. I get great pumps here so a 5/5 for me since that's all I care about. I don't give a damn about bathrooms or fresh towels.

Yelp
Best gym ever! There are plenty of gyms closer to my house, but it is worth the travel time to workout at the Jersey Shore Fitness Shop. I joined many years ago. When I moved out of the area I had to leave and deal with the ridiculousness of other gyms. As soon as I moved back to the area, I joined again! Jersey Shore Fitness Shop has something for everyone including classes on the third floor. I love the mix of people. It is the only gym for me!

James D.

Yelp
The absolute worst.... save your money and time go elsewhere. The building is OLD, dilapidated, antiquated, amongst other things... there are no locker rooms, no place to change comfortably, the one shower stall in the men's room is very old, extremely dark, and very dirty. the rest of the men's room is a VERY outdated bathroom with one stall for the entire gym.... I'm being nice here btw.... not sure how the dept of health allows it to be honest. The work out equipment, circa 1980, is anything but up to date. Old school is one thing, but I mean really????? The staff is stand off ish, never on the floor, never interactive.... never happy. The clientele is cliquish, if your not in the 'ingroup' you are not interacting with them... besides the way too numerous 'roid heads' are the also too numerous senior's set that have no sense of gym etiquette, at all. Whatever you do don't get in their way, and god forbid they share any equipment with anyone they don't know.... Regarding Covid19, apparently masks are optional. the three floors of gym make overall occupancy high and therefore the number allowed in the gym high, although no one is counting...., but most people wo on the first floor, which means they are way too close to you with their masks hanging on their chins as you try to figure out how to work out on limited old, dirty, if your lucky functional equipment . I'd suggest planet fitness over this dump.

Yelp
Legit old school gym. I think this place is awesome! If you're looking for an authentic lifting/bodybuilding gym, I'd say you'd have a hard time finding a better one anywhere in the world. (And I've been lifting for nearly 20 years straight everywhere from Cali to NY to military posts all over the world). It's got every machine you could need or want and even has some I'd only ever seen Arnold using in Pumping Iron before I came here. They even have passes for 10 days for $70 ($7 a day) that can be used whenever you want - THAT is unbeatable. Now, the guy who made a comment about tourists is kind of right in that I'm a tourist and only go there a few times a year - but if this were near my home I'd be a member no questions asked. I've met the owners. Never had a problem. Seen like good guys trying to run a good business. If you want to hit the weights - look no further. You're lucky to find this place.

Yelp
We spend a week every August at The Sandcastle Inn and always take advantage of the great one-week $25 deal that this gym offers. The owners are SO nice to us. The first summer we didn't know to bring our own towels and they happily gave us towels every day with a smile. It looks like a muscle-man's gym, but I always felt welcome by the other patrons. It's a really comfortable, no-frills, neighborhood place and it's very low-key. And it's open 24/7 for early risers and insomniacs! Also very, very clean - important these days. And great variety of cardio equipment. Can't wait to go back next summer!

Seamus O.

Yelp
The Jersey Shore Fitness Shop offers a multitude of different equipment and great hours. The staff is super friendly and the place is very clean, I would recommend this to anybody if they were looking for Gym in the area even 30 miles out from the place. It's big and always find all equipment that I would need ever.

Elect Wayne M.

Yelp
You will love the equipment and the hours 24/7 everyday. Great staff and fun place to work out hard.

Katie W.

Yelp
I love this gym. Every summer I look forward to working out here. Have worked in the fitness industry for 10 years and this is the best gym in NJ hands down. All old school equipment from Pumping Iron days are downstairs and all the new stuff is upstairs. The staff is beyond amazing and helpful... I like them so much I even bought a tshirt! If you are down the shore I highly recommend a visit!

Billy S.

Yelp
lol all these comments are from tourist so they have no idea what a real feel of the gym is i'll say this much the gym is AVERAGE considering its 24 hrs but man the owners there are the rudest people which is why I gave 2 stars if the owners were a lot nicer then yeah maybe i would give it 5 stars BUT Not a friendly management welcome for all that trouble and broken down restrooms your better off going to a retro and signing up with them

Chad P.

Yelp
Old school place, but really great. Tons of equipment to work out with. Totally fair pricing. The staff and patrons are all very friendly. You'll meet people from all walks of life and everyone is happy to meet you.

Dale T.

Yelp
This is a gym, the kind that used to exist. People are serious and come to work out but the atmosphere is one of an extended family. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable but leave you alone to let you do what you need to do. No riff raff or fancy leotards, this is a place to come to and get grounded again. I spend a week there in the summer and this gym compliments the beach experience. No heavy metal on the sound system, just real music. Affordable, easy to access and real Jersey.
