Where to Find the Best Halal Food in Orlando, Florida | Eater Miami

"Hidden amidst a maze of gaudy billboards, shops, and motels sits this Middle Eastern gem. No, it won’t necessarily conjure images of the Holy Land, but the smooth and creamy hummus will leave you praying for more. The tabbouleh salad and kibbeh, a deep-fried blend of ground beef, burgol (cracked wheat), onions, and pine nuts, are excellent options for palates with an aversion to chickpea paste. Expertly prepared kafta kabob is grilled to perfection. Enjoy a piece of baklawa and a demi-tasse of Turkish coffee before heading back out amidst the maze of gaudy billboards, souvenir shops, and roach motels of Kissimmee." - Faiyaz Kara

Google
This place is a hidden gem! The food the atmosphere, the music and ambiance makes you feel like you're in a different world. Everything we had for lunch was AMAZING and so delicious and so affordable!!! This place is a must try! The lunch special had so many variety and so reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. Hands down 1 out of 10 this is a 10 if not more. Go give them a try you won't be disappointed.

Google
What truly sets Jerusalem Restaurant apart is the consistency and quality of its food. Guests rave about the perfectly seasoned shawarma, tender kebabs, and rich, creamy hummus that pairs beautifully with fresh pita bread. The falafel is crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, while the lamb dishes—whether chops, shank, or kabab—are cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Vegetarians and vegans will also find plenty of satisfying options, from vibrant salads to hearty spreads like baba ganoush and labneh Yelp +2. Another highlight is the personal touch from the owner and staff, who often check in with guests to ensure everything is perfect. This attention to detail, combined with generous portions and reasonable prices, makes dining here both enjoyable and affordable Restaurantji.

Google
Would I recommend? Yes I ordered the lamb shank, which was well cooked and came with plenty of rice and a great garlic sauce. Tzatziki was missing that dill flavor, but overall I was happy with the food. Service was on-par, with water pitchers provided to the table. Prices hover around 10$ for a sandwich, and 20 for a plate. Mandatory 18% service charge auto-included

Google
Great restaurant. Always consistent with the food tasting excellent. You feel like you’re right at home. The owner and the staff are very attentive in making sure your experience is pleasant. Please check them out!

Google
Me and my husband enjoyed our meal. Nice place to try some authentic Jerusalem cuisine. Service was good; could improve. The atmosphere was nice.

Google
Hidden gem with delicious Middle Eastern food. Enjoyed the Leg of Lamb with a generous amount of well seasoned rice, garlic & tzaziki sauces, small amount of salad, and warm pita bread. Haven't been here in a number of years, but it's still a great repast.

Google
Great service and food. Very traditional and full of flavor. Is really hard to choose cuz everything that I try is good.

Google
Very welcoming, tasty food we've tried BBQ mix, shawerma, lentil soup and Moroccan harira soup. We would visit it again in our next visit to Florida ( in ha' Allah)

Yelp
First time here and I have to say, this spot is a hidden gem in Kissimmee. I started with the mezza platter and it was fresh, colorful, and the kind of thing you secretly don't want to share. Then came the chicken kafta... wow. Juicy, seasoned just right, and so good it could easily start its own fan club. Honestly, I'd come back just for that. I also tried the gyro plate. It was good, but I personally like my gyro meat with a little char on the edges to really bring out the flavor. Still, it did the job and left me full. The staff was warm, the atmosphere was relaxed, and I liked that it felt like a family-run place that really cares about the food they put out. If you go, trust me--skip straight to the kafta and thank me later.

Yelp
Another convention, this time in Florida. we went to the Jerusalem restaurant specializing in Mediterranean food. I thought it was dimly lit needing a makeover. They have a seating area outside where the customers could enjoy the climate. It took a long time to be served even though the restaurant was empty. I had to get up to pay because I could not get anyone's attention. We had the variety platter featuring humus, falafel, grape leaves, tabouleh, and baba ganoush. It was good. We were both full afterwards. We had a side of pita bread. I would return to sample another dish on the menu.

Yelp
We arbitrarily decided to go Jerusalem restaurant, and boy are we glad we did that after a long day at Daytona Beach. There is lot of parking so no stress in that department! The ambiance was very good with a feeling of being in Middle East. Our staff greeted kindly and made sure we got a good table. We love Mediterranean food, so we ordered a lot different courses. The hummus is the most creamy hummus I have tasted and so was the Olive oil with it. The shish tawook had a chicken so tender it melted. The fattoush was also good in addition to the sandwich also Shish. I'm addition is he owner came to everyone and made sure the food was good. I would recommend checking out this hidden gem!

Yelp
Amazing food! Family owned which is even better!Did I mention A+ in the inspection app! Amazing customer service!! I love everything I have ordered there. I would definitely recommend EVERYTHING on the menu!
google avatar

Floy K.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! Will definitely return if back in the area! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Food is always good, but pricy. I'm okay with that. Today, the order was delivered 40 minutes late. I had a party to go to and was going to bring the food. I had to leave so now food is sitting at my front door. I called restaurant when food was 15 mins late. Girl who answered didn't understand English well. Spoke to manager who said it was the delivery services fault. NOTE: I ordered through Jerusalem's website, NOT through any delivery service. Manager said I should call his delivery service for a refund. That is piss poor customer service. I tried calling Uber Eats and fought through their phone system only to be told it is the restaurant's responsibility to call them. I guess I have to charge back to AMEX. I advise avoiding Jerusalem Restaurant. Food is good, but they don't seem to care about customers or practice being a responsible business.

Yelp
I just love the food here . The grill combination to the chicken shawarma sandwich to the chicken liver and grape leaves. I not to mention the super crack like addictive garlic sauce . It is a great price for what you get . Perfect seasoning. Family owned. I strongly recommend this place for middle eastern food
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Hmm. Just ordered delivery from Jerusalem Restaurant and it's just okay. The stuffed grape leaves were a little tough and chewy. The falafel had large pieces of seasoning that made it a little crunchy. They were also a bit dry. The babaghanoush wasn't quite as smokey as I like. The fries were mushy, not crispy. Okay, you get the picture. The flavors were all okay, just not the best of the best. The pita bread was nice and fluffy, so bonus points for that!
google avatar

Tharin W.

Yelp
Quick service, quality food and nice portions. For 2 of us, $30 had us leaving stuffed. The food was of nice quality and good taste. We will return.
google avatar

Jennie C.

Yelp
Ahhhh I am in heaven. I wish I lived closer. The food is on point. I wanted one of everything on the menu but got the platter to try a little of each. They even sell really neat items to take home. Our server was great, inside is really neat looking. I cannot recommend this place enough. Cannot wait to go back.

Yelp
As someone that lives in the Middle East for 24 years, and has missed this cuisine.... It was so refreshing to find Jerusalem and this incredible food. My favourites are the Kibbeh, Hummus, Tabbouli and chicken shwarma. My husbands favourites were the kibbeh, hummus, chicken livers and meat shwarma. My daughters favourites were the hummus, tabbouli and the grilled salmon. Such a delicious and authentic meal!!
google avatar

Victor B.

Yelp
It's a really honest place, not so beautiful but the food is the point, everything we tried we liked so far! Need to go back there! Unfortunately didn't take any photos!
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
Found this place when I was getting a haircut, had the hummus and meat swarma. Really great Palestinian food. Really friendly service! Recommend this place to anyone who loves Mediterranean food.
google avatar

Poppa B.

Yelp
Average Mediterranean food that is overpriced. Probably will not eat from here again. Did not try in restaurant.
google avatar

Debra J.

Yelp
We placed a pick up order through their website. When we arrived to the restaurant we were promptly greeted by two woman and quickly they retrieved our order. The food was plentiful with large portions (lots of rice) and the food was flavorful. These offerings was a nice change from the typical burger and chain food offerings found in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
When you come to Orlando/Disney you usually plan on staying on property and enjoying all the many restaurants they have to offer. Well my DS, DH and I decided to go to yelp reviews and find an authentic middle eastern restaurant that offered some vegetarian choices. Drove just a short distance maybe 15 minutes or so from our condo to a strip mall on Vineland Rd and Route 129 (Irlo Bronson HWY). They are run by a very friendly family. I ordered mint tea others ordered soda as being Muslim they do not have alcohol. We ordered hummus to share DS ordered Vegetarian Couscous steamed mix of fresh vegetables cooked in tomato sauce, and a house salad and DH ordered Lamb Couscous steamed couscous with vegetables and broiled lamb and I ordered Shish Tawook a marinated chicken charbroiled on a skewer with green peppers and tomatoes... I must say it all was delicious! Will definitely come back here when the snow birds fly back to Florida next year!

Katryna V.

Yelp
We came in as a late night guest and this place was a nice surprise. It wasn't packed and the service team took care of us. We both were really happy with our meals. I'd go back again!

Bruno M.

Yelp
Everything is amazing food ambiance service price not to bad . Great location no wait to be seated
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
Narrow inside. Not doing much as far as spacing guests out. :/ They are busy, taking a bit for someone to wait on us. What a tease. A check-in pops up but nothing shows up. The waiter said they stopped doing that for guests. Nice. A 10% discount showed up for my husband on his phone. I showed the waiter. He said he already charged me without the discount and can't give me the discount, because it didn't show up on my phone, how ridiculous is that? We ordered the chicken kafta with hummus, no rice and a chicken shawarma with hummus as well. They charge you for bread here, that's fine with us since we try to not eat it anyways. They don't have fresh bread since there's no oven in sight at all. The service here isn't the warmest or so welcoming at all. I feel like we are imposing on the staff here, completely. Our male waiter seemed a bit nicer. He let us know our food would be our in 3-5 minutes. All went down hill after the 10% discount he wouldn't honor because the coupon didn't show up on my phone app but showed up on my husband's app. We had to grab silverware off the table next to us, as did the table in front of us to eat. The side salad wasn't what I was expecting or the portion size I was hoping for either, more like the amount you might get on a garnish. The chicken kafta wasn't dry, it even had pieces of garlic cloves in the meat, okay flavoring to it. The chicken shawarma meat looked like it was pan fried and marinated, not cut off the spit and the meat itself was quite thin as well. Would have expected the shawarma meat portion to be on the shawarma and hummus app but not for an entree plate or meal. My husband was hungry after eating his meal. I had to give him one of my chicken kafta to satiate his hunger. Food is decent, service and customer service is lacking.

Yelp
Good service and atmosphere. Ample parking in a shopping strip mall. Food ; tasty hummus and pita bread. Delicious couscous and lamb shank. Juicy but firm lamb kabab( would rather it medium vs well done) . Orange juice and pineapple juice to wash it down. Good attentive staff. Overall it was good not exactly great. P.S food is halal.
google avatar

Yelp
Always love to stop I'm here when traveling in the area!!!! Never rushed and always relaxing quality food at a fair price!!
google avatar

E A.

Yelp
Very good service. Quick. Generous portions. Good food. Attentive staff. Excellent value.
google avatar

Ida C.

Yelp
A nice quiet restaurant. Very relax atmosphere. I ordered takeout meals that included kabobs of beef, chicken and lamb. The grill flavor was delicious. It also includes rice and salad. I can't get enough of dipping sauce. You get your money worth. Will go back again!
google avatar

Jovin L.

Yelp
FoodieIQ Scores: - Chicken shawarma = 5.7/10 (Good!) - Gyro = 5.2/10 (Okay!) I was in the mood for a gyro so I decided to try this place out. This restaurant has that "small family hole in the wall" feel so I was excited to try it but unfortunately the food just tasted average. Nothing amazing and nothing bad just not something that's going to "WOW" you.
google avatar

Valerie B.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food was so good! We ordered the Mazza which is a sampler appetizer, Chicken Shawarma, and the kabab combination. Everything was delicious. We wanted to try the dessert as well so we ordered the baklava and knafeh. I didn't like the the baklava. It wasn't fresh it was hard to get through the pastry and the knafeh looked nothing like what was displayed on the menu. Overall great food!

Yelp
As soon as we walked in, we could see that a lot of the customers were Middle Eastern, which we took as a very good sign. We had the Vegetarian Entree which had grape leaves, falafel, hummus, baba ganoush and tabbouli and comes with 1 pita. We ordered an additional pita. It was all delicious. Not so garlicky either! I had the chicken kabobs with a generous portion of rice and my husband had a meat with rice entree. The rice was exceptionally tasty. We went back a couple days later for a quick takeout of falafel. The falafel has a light, crispy exterior and a slightly moist interior. Comes with a dip, which was also delicious. Would highly recommend Jerusalem for your Middle East fix! Prices were fair especially considering how expensive it has gotten to eat out.

Pam B.

Yelp
We ordered hummus and lamb kabob. The food was amazing. The restaurant is not very big but very quaint. The server was very nice. I highly recommend it.

J S.

Yelp
Walked over from the embassy suites hotel for dinner. Fast service. Nice atmosphere. Food was excellent. Loved the grape leaves and the lamb gyro. Excellent lamb. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Elisa M.

Yelp
They delivered to my hotel and I ate outside. Was so good! Couldn't wait till the 10th floor.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Pretty good but not great. The hummus appetizer doesn't come with any pita which is sad. The chicken shawrma was good.
google avatar

Hannah D.

Yelp
Food is very overpriced very little seasonings. Which is surprising for a Middle Eastern restaurant. I was very disappointed we came all the way from Altamont springs to try this restaurant.
google avatar

Mae C.

Yelp
Excellent food and service!! There is something for everyone including gyros salad, shawarma, lamb, wraps and vegetarian options!!

Matt M.

Yelp
Not sure where these 4 / 5 star reviews are coming from. Tried this on June 13 and the food was terrible. Everything was cold (shawarma and kebabs) and the pita was stale. Food came out all wrapped in foil almost like they were prepared a long time ago and just thawed. They also automatically add 18% gratuity.

Naeem A.

Yelp
Very tasty and authentic good taste. I liked the ambiance. The service was very good.
google avatar

No A.

Yelp
My party's food was all cold. Not one bit of warmth. The service was terrible and our server did not check on us at all. The table was clean and vibes were great, but overall it was awful.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
3.5-4 stars Ordered delivery not too long before closing. Ordered moussaka $14 and falafel $7. Food was tasty and pretty good quality, but too expensive for the portion sizes. I was disappointed with how little rice came with the moussaka & $7 for only 5 little pieces of falafel is excessive. I can not deny the food was good though! I think I would visit again, just wouldn't be my "go to spot" because of pricing.
google avatar

Don J.

Yelp
Nothing special. Not tasty. Not authentic. Expensive. The meat was not spicy enough. The salad was missing the juices. The humus felt like it's from a can .
google avatar

Krishna C.

Yelp
We were in the mood for something different. We went to another Middle Eastern joint on 192 but they ran out of rice so we ran out of there and settled on this establishment. We ordered food, and while waiting for our food, fed Ian his Chipotle kid combo. By the time he was done eating the extremely nice employee at Jerusalem brought our food out. We tried their Lamb Shanks and Kebob combination plate. Food was super flavorful. Spices were faint yet had a distinctive Middle Eastern flair to them. We got the food back to our hotel and had a delightful dinner. We recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and it took about 45 mins. Which is good time! Chicken was cooked perfectly. Moist with great char marks. Rice had nice flavor. Tabbouli was fresh and delicious. Will definitely order next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
I was here several years ago and this still rings true that it's one of my favorite and memorable Middle Eastern dining experiences. When we walked in, I'd bet we were maybe the only or close to the only people who weren't of Middle Eastern dissent. That made me super excited. The food to come didn't disappoint. This is where I learned that labneh is one of my favorites and spent years trying to find another place that could come close to this one. We ended up ordering a number of dishes from lamb to chicken shawarma and everything was lights out fantastic. I'd highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Kory D.

Yelp
Great little middle eastern spot. I was in from out of town and staying nearby, and am always open to some kabobs or shawerma. The portion sizes are great: they'll fill you up even if you're really hungry. The meat isn't dry and the rice is flavorful. The white yogurt sauce is a great compliment to the meat.
google avatar

Nuri P.

Yelp
Service was above average. Nothing particularly notable about the ambiance. Would definitely return for the excellent food. There is a reason this place has been around as long as it has (over 15 years!)

Kerry C.

Yelp
Ordered the lentil soup and vegetarian sampler plate. Both were amazing. The Baba ghanoush was probably the best we've had so far anywhere. The pita bread was fresh and warm and it was a good experience. We would come back.
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
We got our food to go and it was delicious. Some of the best middle eastern in the Orlando area. Great for vegetarian! I had the veggie platter and my daughter enjoyed the chicken shawarma.

Yummy T.

Yelp
The food was so-so. I've had better gyros. Most gyros I've had have been better in fact. Including Arby's. But, the hummus was great, the soup was great, and the non-gyro means my friends ate were all delicious.
google avatar

Mohamed E.

Yelp
Got the musaka, lamb shank with couscous, mixed grill, falafel and beef safiha which were all good, good portions and reasonable prices. Couscous specifically was very good, service was nice and timely. The three stars because of three reasons: -Moroccan tea was not good and Moroccan -dessert was not good (got the rice pudding and kunafa) -the seating outside and even inside can use some improvement
google avatar

billy m.

Yelp
Apparently they make up their own hours on the go. Website says 11pm walked in at 9:30pm and there was 1 table dining and told me they closed. Probably a front.

Kris S.

Yelp
Terrible food !! They have no clue what they are making and the garlic sauce is hands down one of the absolute worst I have ever eaten . How can you mess up garlic sauce ??
google avatar

Jody R.

Yelp
Don't let this little strip mall distract you! This place is The place is small but does offer both booth and table sitting. It wasn't at all crowded but it didn't have a steady stream of guest. The service was Phenomenal, we'll attentive and so kind. My husband and I ordered two different entrees and both tasted GREAT!! The portion sizes were above average-- we both had enough for lunch leftovers for the next day! I would definitely return for a return visit!! ** Quick note, they do not serve alcohol here, but don't let that stop you from dining here!!**
