Portland’s Vegan and Vegetarian Food Carts Open for Takeout and Delivery

"Ditto!, the vegan grilled cheese cart located in the parking lot of Jet Black Coffee Company, has reopened with new hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Melty grilled cheese sandwiches packed with smoky maple tempeh bacon and tangy barbecue soy curls are available for call-in and online ordering for pickup." - Waz Wu

Outstanding Portland Coffee Shops With Free Wi-Fi

"Inspired by the band Jawbreaker, this punk-inflected cafe offers a vegan menu from its coffee and tea drinks to pastries from Shoofly, Jen’s Pastries, and Sweetpea Baking Company. The Wi-Fi password is conveniently posted at each table, and the plant-filled space provides a relaxing atmosphere for work." - Nick Woo, Janey Wong

Eat Your Way Through East Portland’s Vegan Destinations - Eater Portland

"To kick off your vegan food crawl — especially if you need a warm beverage in the morning to merely function — head over to Jet Black Coffee in the Gateway District. Jet Black collaborated with Water Avenue Coffee to create their own custom medium-dark blend with chocolatey notes. If coffee isn’t your jam, they’re also stocked with Portland teas. Jet Black sources pastries from places like Shoofly Vegan Bakery, Sweetpea Baking Company, Bee’s Cakes, and Bowery Bagels — those feeling like something sweet should opt for a Shoofly cinnamon roll; otherwise, stick to an everything bagel with Vtopia cashew cheese." - Latisha Jensen

Vegan café with indoor and outdoor seating. Ginger chai was spicy, in a great way. We had a cup there and, before leaving, ordered another to go. I had an onion bagel with the tofutti non-dairy cream cheese and added the peppers. I like that they give you a generous amount of the vegan cream "cheese" in a little container so you can spread it yourself. Taste wise, I wouldn't have known it was dairy free if not for the establishment being about that life. The little side of peppers I ordered with it provided a nice dose of added heat and flavor. I would totally buy them in a jar if I could! Service was polite and prompt and I was very satisfied with my purchase. We ate outside. The one thing I think is good to know is that it is a super quiet vibe indoors. People posted up with laptops and working versus a lot of lively conversation. Felt library quiet, which was interesting. I would go there again, and happily order the same thing. In fact, I might visit before my Portland trip ends.

Jet Black was a good experience for a coffee date. The location was a second spot chosen, after I discovered the first choice had little to no parking. Jet Black's parking wasn't much better and is one where you may have to search out to find yourself a spot. The good note is that there is seating both inside and out, and the limited parking is due to its popularity as many people came and went throughout our stay. This popularity left my date and I feeling we couldn't openly discuss some items, as there isn’t much privacy. Also, we were surprised to see that there was no milk offered for our drinks, only milk alternatives. Granted, im sure I could have realized this before going if I had done some research, but, this location was a backup, so it just is what it is. Overall, the location is nice and id happily go back again if I needed a spot to go to.

Nice cozy place to meet up with friends early in the morning. Something to note: the coffee aroma is thick in the air. It stayed on me even after I left. I personally like the smell, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to smells. Their drink menu is a lovely mix of coffee and not-coffee options.

Going here on my lunches breaks is the highlight of my day. The people working are always friendly and present, and the coffee is perfect. I crave the egg and cheese sandwiches (with mama lils). The first time I had one, I had no idea it was vegan. I can’t recommend this place enough!

My new favorite coffee shop in Portland. I got the cardamom oat milk latte and I loved it. My friend got the lavender oat milk latte and it was great too. I like how you get 2 espresso shots in every drink! I got a tea latte too and personally wouldn’t recommend it. I also wish they’d have their indoor seating open until closing, but they close it an hour early. But I also tried the vegan egg & cheese sandwich and it was so good! They use a dill aioli in it which is delish. Highly recommend this place

When I heard there was a Jawbreaker inspired coffee shop right by my sister’s house that also had vegan eats. Of course i was in. The only reason i didn’t come multiple times is that I was in from the east coast and wanted to hit other places. I’m actually sad i didn’t buy a tee-shirt and they aren’t on the website. If someone can get me a shirt to Baltimore, I’d be very thankful. Anyway. The coffee was top notch. I drink a lot of black drip coffee and this was one of my favorite spots in the PNW. Also had a vegan sandwich and it was also top tier. If you’ve never been check it out.

this place was way better a year ago. stopped in today and got barely a greeting once I got to the register. cashier was very short with me and didn't even heat my sandwich all the way through. idk I still like it because it's easy vegan breakfast, but idk the vibes are just not welcoming anymore. I used to enjoy sitting here and hanging out while I ate, now it's get in and get out as quick as possible.
