10 Must-See Exhibitions in Paris This Autumn

With ‘Julia Margaret Cameron: Capturing Beauty’, this gallery traces the career of the British portrait photography pioneer Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) via more than 100 photographs. From early experiments to emblematic compositions, the show presents some of the first artistic photos in which blur, error and imperfection are embraced to create a sensitive and ultra-personal portrait gallery. - Zoé Terouinard

Jeu de Paume – A Cultural Space at Place de la Concord, Paris Nestled in the heart of the square "La Concorde" in Paris, the Jeu de Paume is a stunning building that blends history, culture, and modernity in a truly captivating way. I had the pleasure of visiting the thought-provoking exhibition "Le Monde Selon l’IA" (The World According to AI), which offered deep insights into the evolution of artificial intelligence and what lies behind its development. The staff at the entrance were exceptionally welcoming and respectful, always ready to answer questions and assist with anything you might need. Inside, the library (bibliothèque) is a treasure trove of fascinating books. The librarians are friendly and eager to help you navigate topics or find specific information. The interior design of the building feels very modern, with raw concrete surfaces and a minimalist aesthetic. While this might suit the theme of contemporary exhibitions, it did feel a bit stark, perhaps lacking a touch of warmth or vibrancy that would make the space feel more alive. Although I didn’t have enough time to explore the cinema section, it looked incredibly intriguing and is definitely on my list for next time. All in all, the Jeu de Paume is a culturally rich and intellectually stimulating place, well worth a visit for those curious about art, technology, and modern expression

The first time I came here, I went to see a movie in the basement and was surprised why there was a museum here that I didn't know so I went back again. This time I came for the Thomas Demand exhibition. You can buy tickets inside the museum (buy directly with the staff or buy on the machine). You can also make an appointment in advance. I see this as more of a gallery than a museum, also not too crowded so it is very quiet.

Nice sized arts centre (I did not take photos of the actual exhibition). It’s two floors and well conceived. The area around is very nice to walk around and enjoy a view of the Eiffel Tower and other Parisian attractions.

Here today visiting for the Chantal Ackerman Exhibition, which was excellent. Interesting to see the films reworked in a different way. Fascinating to also see the texts, documents & early shorts.

The space itself isn't that extraordinary to look at from the outside but read up on the fascinating history. I visited the Sally Mann show which was wonderful. The galleries are a bit compact so try and go early or late to avoid the crowds. Nice bookstore too and when the weather is good, the cafe outside is nice.

I'm afraid I done much like the style of monochrome photography now featured in the exhibits. However, it is a great venue and others may like the darkish themes. The cafe is well-done Japanese... strangely appropriate.

Amazing photography gallery. It’s open ‘til 9pm on a Tuesday. Which leaves you enough time to watch the sunset over Place de Concord in the summer ☀️🌇
