How the Owner of Hahm Ji Bach Helped Shape the Koreatown of Queens - Eater NY

"The owners’ children now run Mapo BBQ and Jeun Ju. And at Han Joo, the last remaining partner, Yongri Jin, has taken over." - Caroline Shin

19 Standout Korean Restaurants in Murray Hill, Queens | Eater NY

"Local regulars hit up this lunch spot for a splendid menu of soul foods intrinsic to the Korean palate. The bibim guksu, cold spicy noodles, are done the way they’re supposed to: light, slightly sweet, spicy, tangy and umami with ingredients like gochugaru, vinegar, and sesame oil and the fresh crunch of lettuce and bean sprouts in a big metal bowl. But for something heartier, get the gamja tang (pork bone and potato stew) heavy with perilla seed flavor or the oyster jeon, golden-fried handmade mounds of egg batter and oyster. The six-plus banchan dishes offer even more flavors and textures to the ordered dishes — as Korean food traditionally does." - Caroline Shin

"JeunJu Korean Restaurant is celebrated for its authentic Korean comfort food, particularly kal gook soo (knife-cut noodle soup) and soojebi (hand-torn noodle soup). Adventurous diners can try the deul ggae kal gook soo, a variation enhanced with perilla seeds for a nutty and earthy flavor. The menu remains true to traditional recipes, earning a loyal following." - Teddy Kim

I've visited this restaurant twice now and the food is absolutely delicious! The staff is warm and welcoming, so don't let the Korean menu intimidate you. The side dishes have a traditional flavor, and the cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect place to enjoy a bowl of kalguksu. Their prices are very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions - including the side dishes! This place has quickly become my go-to whenever I'm craving Korean food, and I'm already looking forward to trying something new on my next visit!

Google
This is a great restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Korean food. Portions are amazing and service is great!!! Highly recommend. Quiet area and good walk from Flushing. Will come again

Google
What a lovely find! This is a small local restaurant with mainly locals visiting. The lady was extremely friendly and helpful. Whereas the food is not as flavorful as the other restaurants in the area, the food feels homey, healthier and warms the soul. I had a spicy beef soup and the beef was sooo tender! Also had the seafood pancake which had a good portion of seafood and was slightly crunchy. The banchan was also nice - with potatoes and a pork rib!

Google
You know in a restaurant named after the city famous for Bibimbap, the most delicious dish in my opinion is the Korean omelette, not the bibimbap! The bibimbap is delicious too. But the omelette is something else, crisp on the outside, tender on the inside with the perfect balance of sweet and savory! 🤤 It’s so tasty! I love these mom-and-pop small businesses. They are the custodian of the regional cuisine!

Google
So happy we found this spot! Everything was delicious, and the broth and noodles were perfection. Not pictured, but must get the kalgooksu with clams! The eemo that served us was so sweet and gave us great recommendations. Coming back again soon!

Google
The seafood pancake is light and airy and the dumplings leave nothing to be desired. God I can't wait to come back here. Kamsamida!!! Oh and sorry my pics are after I started eating. Lol.

Google
Korean home-style hearty comfort food. We really enjoyed it and had a good time there. All dishes were well made. Highly recommended.

Google
Amazing homestyle korean food. I loved the small dishes which we got many refills for. The staff was kind and friendly and gave us suggestions on what to try. I want to try different plates next time they seem to have many fish dishes. Also i have paid much higher prices at restaurants with less quality, this is a gem. This time we went for the bulgogi both styles

Yelp
So worth the trek! We got the seafood panjeon to share, along with some seafood udon. The banchan were quite good, and more than anything this just feels like a homey environment with cozy food that isn't trying to cater to various audiences.

Yelp
Finally. I've found the holy grail of classic homestyle authentic Korean food in the area and I couldn't be happier. My stomach is basically smiling right now, what a satisfying dinner. Every single banchan dish was so good and fresh, not the overpriced mass produced stuff you find in Hmart but the food you'd find made by your mom or auntie at home. On top of all the deliciousness, the prices are very very fair. Really a hidden gem and I'm so happy we found it. Delivery edit: I want to add that I'm 90% sure they give different banchan for delivery, the quality when we order delivery of the banchan is significantly lower than what we got in the restaurant. Like we've ordered delivery probably 3x now and haven't gotten any fresh tofu banchan and they just seem like older stuff that's been sitting in a fridge rather than the fresh amazing things we got in the restaurant. Makes sense financially I suppose but keep that in mind if you order delivery.

Yelp
Walking into the fridge in cold weather, I was craving soup. I decided to walk in and give it a try, and I am so happy I did. It's a neighborhood joint. People smile at you when you walk in. There are so many stew /soup/noodle soups to choose from. And they have pictures all over one side of the wall. The Gamjatang soup and Hae Mul Pa jeon were rich and delicious. The portion sizes are good. The service was very friendly. very reasonable price. This is my new fav for Korean stew and soup

Yelp
Really delicious, cozy place to get Korean food! I read about this on Eater listing it as one of many yummy places to get Korean food and had also heard great things about this place from a friend (he recommended the bossam, gamjatang, and samgyetang). The portions are nice and big and it also comes with yummy banchan. We got the bossam, gamjatang, and seafood kalguksu. The bossam was so good - it comes with oyster and the oyster together with the pork belly in the ssam is exquisite. Definitely a favorite among the group. I also loved the flavor of the broth of the seafood kalguksu and how hearty it was. I definitely recommend this place. The lady who took our order and maybe was the owner was very kind and attentive and also appreciated how kind the service was.

Yelp
One of the most authentic home cooked style of Korean food I've had. Not too fussy. Not the best. Not the worst. But something i can eat every day. My wife and I take out from here at least once a week. Everything just tastes like it was made with love. My only small critique is that the banchan can sometimes be hit or miss. Overall though, usually a hit!
google avatar

Yelp
10/10 always hits!! Especially on a cold winter day there's so many stews and soups and noodle dishes to choose from. The prices are also so VALUE and the service is always friendly. My bf always orders the gamjatang and I always get the gukbap!! Both are piping hot so be careful of the roof of your mouth and tongue. If you want it less spicy just ask! Too yummy to gatekeep!!!

Yelp
Typical Korean dishes, moderately priced, and great for delivery. Ratings: Dumpling soup 8/10 Big, juicy, soft skinned dumplings in light savory broth Grilled Mackerel + Soybean paste stew 7/10 Very crispy mackerel, some fish oil flavor, good portion size for the money. It comes with a sauce that really enhances the flavor of the fish and covers up the fish oil flavor. The soybean stew is a little spicy if you need some extra flavor. Spicy Beef soup 7/10 Decent portion size and good flavor and texture for the beef, but not a lot of beef. Korean style egg omelet 7/10 Eggs were light and airy with clean flavor but without seasoning and spices like the other dishes. Use sauce or eat with soup/stew to balance it out.

Yelp
Food: very authentic korean food. Kalguksu was handmade and very chewy texture. The spicy pork jjim had a very country style authentic taste. Mixed with rice at the end with all the sauce was super yummy too! Seafood pajeon was pretty good too. Service: very attentive. Gave aprons for people who had white shirts on and always asked if we needed refill on banchan etc. Overall - would definitely come back and probably a regular in my rotation of korean restaurants.

Yelp
Came on a cold day that was perfect for warm soup. I came at around 3:30pm, so there wasn't anyone inside, and some of the staff were eating lunch. People trickled in during my time there though. Banchan was good. My favorite was the tofu. It was firm and flavorful. You can ask for refills if you want more. Gamjatang was exactly what I needed as I felt a little under the weather. The slight spice cleared my sinuses. The hot soup warmed my insides. It was rich and savory, and I want to say fermented. The portion is also huge. There was a lot of pork. A lot of people were coming in for their gamjatang or samgyetang. A very satisfying, home-cooked meal. Murray Hill is quite a trek, but it's worth a try.

Cassandra L.

Yelp
Copying over from my Google review: Absolutely delicious, it feels like I'm visiting family during the holidays with how friendly the staff is. The tofu banchan was delicious, I've never had dubujorim with soondubu. I'd also want a jar of their radish kimchi if I could! I ordered the mukeunji with pork back bone and it was a pleasant surprise how big the portion was even though it was for one person! I'll definitely crave it when I want something with rice. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
I've ordered from Jeunju several times and it has never disappointed once. At this point, it's probably the place I order from the most, but I don't get tired of it because they have so many different dishes. They also give a lot of ban chan, which changes for every meal. Some of my favorite things to order from them include Soft Tofu Soup with Seafood, Pork Wrap Set, and LA Galbi & Soybean Paste Stew. I've also had their Grilled Mackerel and Grilled Hairtail Fish sets, and both come with Soybean Paste Stew. The portions at this place is great and I'm excited to order more from here.

Yelp
Came here for their Spicy Pork Ribs. Service was quick. Word of advice, eat it as it is. Don't ask for extra spicy idc who you are. I'm not saying you can't handle it but it'll change the flavor profile.

Yelp
Love the homey feel of this restaurant and how everyone seems to know everyone. I came here for lunch and ordered the pork back bone soup as well as the soft tofu soup with seafood. We waited around 10 minutes for our food, and it was starting to get busy since it was lunch time. The ban Chan was exciting: kimchi, spinach, bean sprouts, broccoli, eggs, and a pork dish that was delicious. My favorite was the kimchi and the pork. The soups were both piping hot and came with purple rice. I enjoyed how the pork from the pork bone soup just peeled right off the bone and was so tender. The flavor of the soup was also really good. The soft tofu soup was yummy but I think I prefer BCD's over theirs. The seafood included clam (without the shell) and little octopi. Overall I would come back here to try our their other dishes.

Yelp
There's something about non-super fancy Korean restaurants. It's like they have a brand. They're always going to be good, you're never going to make a bad choice. The atmosphere's always going to be friendly and light, and the people will for sure be courteous and attentive. The food here is terrific and never overcooked, which I feel like Korean chain restaurants tend to be. I'm not Korean but this invoked a homey feel in me of comfort food.

Yelp
3 things about this place: 1) Heard great things on Yelp and wanted to try this place out while I was visiting from Florida. This is a chain restaurant that is also located in New Jersey and wanted to see what the hype was all about. The lady who served me and my sister was really friendly and very outgoing. She kept asking how everything was and if we needed something else. Small restaurant but everything was excellent. 2) Seafood pancake, Hangover soup and Fish cake soup were ordered and they were both fantastic and felt like we were both eating in Korea. The side dishes were also great, especially the radish kimchi that went well with the soups. Great quality and great service. 3) This place is known for their knife cut noodles, where there are variety types you can choose from such as seafood, clams, vegetable broth, and even anchovy broth. If you're not into the noodles, other rice dishes and soups available and they were fantastic. Overall, I'm definitely coming back when I visit Flushing, NY and will be one of my go to spots while I'm here. Highly highly recommend to those looking for authentic Korean food in Flushing, NY

Yelp
I got the samgaetang which was great for the cold weather. The soft tofu they serve on the side was very fresh. The service was very attentive and quick. Would recommend coming by for a casual meal!

Yelp
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE KOREAN SPOTS EVER! Came across it a few years ago randomly and have been in love since. We went there in person a few times the service is great, they also have high chair for your little ones as well. Food is always great, very very traditional Korean style spot. The place gives off a very local vibe, def not a modern chic spot, but I can't recommend it enough!
google avatar

Yelp
What an amazing find! I was feeling under the weather and was looking for a place that has Korean chicken ginseng soup (Samgye-tang). I've never had it before but I know it has restorative and nourishing benefits. The soup is usually not seasoned while being cooked. It's served with salt and pepper on the side, so each person can season the broth to taste and use the remainder to dip the meats in. It was very healthy! My fiancé ordered the gamjatang. It's also our first time having it. And wow, it was phenomenal! Gamja-tang is a pork back-bone stew. It often contains potatoes, cellophane noodles, dried radish greens, perilla leaves, green onions, hot peppers and ground sesame seeds. The pork falls off the bone so easily. The stew was perfectly flavored! Very welcoming and friendly staff! Checks on us very often to see if there's anything else we need. Will definitely come back soon!!

Yelp
Came here with a couple of other friends and was quite disappointed with the food we got, the flavor was lacking in all the dishes we tried. Starting with the seafood pancake, there were barely any pieces of seafood and the pancake was very doughy not crispy or crunchy. Their seafood noodles wasn't that flavorful too, a bit bland imo, if you're looking for better seafood noodles and pancakes try arirang on 163st. That place never disappoints. My friend tried the gamjatang and that was very thick and interesting, not what we expected. We also got the LA kalbi and soybean paste soup, kalbi was just average and skippable. Try something else if you're here. We all left kinda disappointed after the meal. Service was great and friendly staff, I just wished the food was better.

Yelp
I am such a gatekeeper but am trying to rehabilitate and learn to share ... haha. Jeunju (or technically Jeonju) is my all-time favorite korean restaurant in NY. The epitome of homecooked comfort food - they offer an a-typical menu with an assortment of authentic dishes often not found at other korean restaurants. Delicious, real food coupled with simple warm service and such good value for what is now a sad inflation-ballooned world : there's nothing bad to be said about Jeunju Restaurant. It has definitely gotten more popular in recent years which the gatekeeper in me wants to be sad about but - more business is always a good thing, for them as much as the customer. I encourage you to try something new! Korean food is so much more than what you may be used to, or what's popular on social media. Explore away from typical LA Kalbi, Bulgogi and Tofu Soups. Here are some of my recommendations : Grilled Fish & Soup Combos. All are fantastic. I love the Mackeral, Croaker, and Hairtail equally. Cold Soy Bean Noodles They make the best soup. Savory, nutty, creamy! Add some salt and eat with a simple side of kimchi! Handmade Knife-Cut Noodles Classic Anchovy broth, or Manila Clams, or Chicken. But the Perilla Seed is my favorite! We go way too often, so maybe I'll be seeing ya! :)

Yelp
There we were only drunken customers arguing or screaming at the restaurant. It was totally unpleasant time ruined my dinner.

J J.

Yelp
Checked in on 5/28/24 for dinner. Samgyetang (Chicken Herb Soup) - Chicken was too chewy & dry. The soup did not taste pleasant. Gamjatang - The taste was just weird and unpleasant. Fried dumplings - Really really good! Seafood Pancake - One of the worst I have ever had. There was something hard inside like a black shell or a burnt piece from the pot. It almost broke my tooth! The service experience was good but the food experience was not great. Will not go back

Yelp
Hidden gem. I love the aunties here!!! Price is affordable for a hearty meal that reminds you of home. Hadnt eaten Korean food in a while, and this place really made me feel like home. Will be going back and bringing more friends. Really want to try the stir-fried spicy octopus. Mackerel Soybean paste stew Gamjatang
google avatar

Janice K.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem!!! Food is excellent and has that great homemade vibe. Went there for "bokil", one of the 3 days where Koreans eat super nutritious meals to survive the hot summer days. I loved how tasty everything was with that home cooked-mom-or-grandma-made-it taste. Definitely will be going back to eat through the whole menu!!!!

Yelp
First time I been here in a while and happy to see they're continuing to thrive! It's mainly regulars that come by here, as when we came in, we were greeted with loud bellows and laughters from ahjusshis. The staff were respectful, welcoming us and asking if we wanted indoor or outdoor dining. We chose indoor as it was brick cold outside. Inside, each seat is distanced apart with hanging plastic coverings separating us. They also take temperatures, and offered disposable chopsticks but not spoons. My boyfriend and I ordered the Haemul Kalguksu and Gamjatang, which both added up to around $25? Unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as when I first tried them. The broth in the Gamjatang had a weird beady taste to it, probably from the spices and pork, but it wasn't very flavorful. The rice that came with it wasn't the best I had but still tasted great dipped into the broth. The Haemul Kalguksu was the same, not that flavorful and sadly didn't offer as many seafood pieces as older photos. But I could still taste the handmade texture of the noodles and paired with the soup and clam, I had a very hearty meal! So Jeunju was not as good as I last had them. But their ambience was POPPING more than ever, and it's nice to know how friendly and often regulars come here to eat.
google avatar

Naixin C.

Yelp
I will bid my farewell to all cold noodles from now on. B8 sounded interesting - cold noodle in soy milk? It sounds like nothing I've had before. I tried it and yes, it does taste like nothing I've had before. It tastes like nothing and it made my heart cold. Don't get that item, even if it's the hottest summer and you're really tempted. K1 on the other hand was really good. The noodle was Al dente and soup was healthy. Some veggie there makes it perfect for a light day. I will come back for the noodle and try out their soup dishes.

Yelp
Underrated local Korean comfort food with plenty of Korean regular customers. Super cozy and family owned. They can help with recommendations with the owner knowing English. Food is comforting and tastes home cooked with love. Come for all the noodle soups and many specialty dishes. @ ban chan (9/10) - amazing selection of fresh kimchi, fish cake, peppers, bamboo shoots, squash, radish, etc. All spicy and refreshing accompaniments to the meal @ dumpling soup (10/10) - my favorite dish, and I usually dislike dumplings. They are fat and full of juicy savory filling, floating delicately in a mild soup. So comforting and filling @ noodles in soup (?/10) - my sister really enjoys the noodles in soup, I don't see what's so special but it's comforting and the noodles are freshly made. @ fried hairtail fish (6.5/10) - delicious fish, interesting unique menu item, great with rice, care for bones @ speciality eel dish (5/10) - little chunks of tiny eel, cooked in a spicy paste with vegetables, a bit burnt, strong muddy earthy flavor, not for everyone but I'm glad I got to try it tl;dr definitely more people have to come here, staff are super nice and helpful, food is comforting, super local spot

Yelp
Feel like this place has an authentic taste Many Korean traditional customers Food for me was ok I like all appetizers Service was polite

Yelp
Amazing spicy pork back bone dish, great mandu, great ginseng chicken soup, omg mouthwatering galbi tang, excellent ban chan, amazing service. Abundanza. Can't imagine anyone leaving here upset ever.
google avatar

Fateha A.

Yelp
I got the tofu sujebi which was way spicier than I expected. Beware if you have gastritis or Gerd. I shuda asked for a mild version. The 1st taste immediately burned my stomach. 1 of the employees seemed to be scared of me since I was wearing green lipstick. I'm not an alien. It's just lipstick. Idk why Asians hate "unnatural" lipstick colors so much. If you can wear green clothes & green eyeshadow, why not lipstick? I don't understand why adults think green, purple, gray, blue & black lipstick is scary.

Jasmim W.

Yelp
Highly recommend. The side dish and soup are very good. The pies are very reasonable. We ordered two soup one soup noodle and one seafood pancake is less than $70.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant hands down in flushing area. I will walk over from flushing Main Street to go to this restaurant. They always serve a variety of side dishes that change daily and large portions of all their mains. I always opt for their clam kalguksu and they SSAMBAP. The service is very good and the ladies are always so kind. You will always find older Korean men and women here - they know this place is so good.
google avatar

Yessenia L.

Yelp
Ordered from Uber eats the spicy beef soup. It was amazing I loved the way the food was packed. Thank you!
google avatar

Gloria K.

Yelp
A small and cozy restaurant that serves delicious food. They also have great lunch specials worth checking out. I came here during lunch time with my parents and took advantage of their lunch special. I ordered the ssambap jungshik which is marinated meat with rice and veggies you can wrap the rice and meat in. They also give you dwenjang jigae with this and it was only $10.99. They offer a lot of variety of banchan which was flavorful and delicious. I highly recommend coming here for lunch and even dinner because the food here is authentic Korean food at an affordable price!

Yelp
Me and my family have been staying home like everyone else as per the mandate by the city during these unusual times of emergency. Cooking and snacking at home and such. So day three of this and a gamja tang craving hits me. I'm also watching the news and restaurant businesses have been hit hard by this. Asian American businesses are being hit harder and closing down because of the xenophobia. So worried that my favorite gamja tang spot might be one of those unfortunate cases, I called and HURRAH they picked up. Fortunately, they are still open and they are only doing takeout/delivery. Of course, I placed an order over the phone and picked it up promptly.

Yelp
On cold rainy days what is better than a big bowl of noodles and soup?! I stumbled upon this restaurant after scouring yelp for a good kalgooksu place. For 2pm on a week day there was ample street parking available. First Impression: Small restaurant with roughly 10 tables. The menu had plenty of pictures available if you've never had kalgooksu before. The front of the menu had lunch specials listed and luckily for us it was before 3pm when the deals are no longer good. Food: Banchan (Sides Dishes) - 6 dishes that were executed well. I would rather have fewer that taste good than more that taste mediocre. There was pumpkin tempura, Napa kimchi, radish kimchi, bokchoy kimchi, stir fried anchovies, and marinated spinach. Chicken (Dak) Kalgooksu - big bowl of freshly made hand cut noodles with plenty of pulled chicken and vegetables. They give you two containers to season your broth. One is a soy sauce blend and the other has a red pepper paste. My perfect combo is about 5 spoons of soy sauce to 2 spoons of the paste. Although the broth is refreshing, I do like it on the spicy side. Recommended! Jeyuk Bokkum/Ssam (marinated pork belly with Napa cabbage wraps) - this is a complete meal. What was included... spicy marinated pork belly cooked and served on a bed of onions on a sizzling hot stone plate, daengjang jigae, rice and wraps for the meat with ssamjang. The meat wasn't too fatty and they weren't cheap on the amount of cabbage. The jigae wasn't the best but I like to stick to what the restaurant is known for. Recommended for the meat, not the jigae. Reason for 1 star deduction: As I was thoroughly enjoying my soup, one of the employees were at a table across from me cutting up squash for the soup. For each one she cut, she was eating pieces of the squash from the knife. I know it's something some old school Korean women do but I have a thing about germs. If the food wasn't so good I may have deducted an extra star. Overall: This restaurant is a solid choice for kalgooksu. Will I be back? The lady eating off the prep knife was a bit of a deal breaker for me. I've heard of another place around 162nd street I would like to try. For now I'll keep this place on the back burner.

Yelp
I love this restaurant for almost everything. The price is decent, portions are huge. Great service (they even remember you if you go there often like me lol). It is a small restaurant but always feel like a home because of their amazing side dishes. All of their main dishes are good (especially the bean sprouts gukbab).

Yelp
A friendly and cozy little place that has an array of noodles with or without soup to choose from. If noodles isn't what you're looking for...they also have entrees that would make your palate happy. More so, the two ladies who work there are the sweetest people. Although there was a slight language barrier between us, they made sure I understood what I was ordering and even taught me how to eat the dish I ordered. After dinner...take a stroll down the block to Croffle House, pick up a cup ofcoffee and a croffle to end the night.

Yelp
Great homey Korean restaurant. Seems like all other customers were Koreans so we felt assured that it's authentic and good food. A lot of customers would go out for a smoke during the meal and they never rushed us. They spoke great English and we got unique banchans that i haven't seen in other Korean places previously. There was the sweet anchovies with seaweed and a roasted thick cut kelp which I am not sure if I like or not but it was definitely interesting to try. The kimchi was really good - not too sour or spicy, but so refreshing. We got a bunch of things to share. The gamja tang (pork bone with potato soup) was good with rice. You can request sticky rice as well as white. Free rice! The seafood noodle soup was filled with seafood. They were super generous with the amount of seafood. We also liked that they divided the seafood pancake into four small plates for us. The seafood pancake stayed crispy even tho we didn't eat it right away. Awesome. The seafood pancake sauce was a bit too heavy on vinegar for me. We also got an order of the steamed dumplings. They were ok. Felt like supermarket bought korean chive dumpling, probably wouldn't order this again. Yelp check in was 10% off which was great. Everything was very reasonably priced and the food delicious and large portioned. We will be back again.

Yelp
I loved their gamjatang and would definitely go back for that. The fish was pretty good too. Very laid back atmosphere and a lot of people come to drink at night.

Yelp
Gamjatang was 9/10, stir fried pork belly with kimchi and tofu was also really good. Looking forward to come back again to try their other dishes!

Yelp
What? How have I never been here before? I have lived in Flushing for 13 years and never have tasted Korean food as authentic and amazing as I have in this restaurant. I had given up. Maybe it was impossible to find real, authentic Korean food outside of Korea. But here!!! This is the real thing!!!!!! Look, I usually never use multiple exclamation marks, but THIS PLACE HAS TURNED MY WORLD UPSIDE DOWN. I feel blessed. If you want real Korean food, this is the place. They have an amazingly diverse and cheap menu, great proportions, and oh man, the side dishes. Divine. Maybe they're able to emulate authenticity because they grow their own vegetables. But it's not just that. Everything we ordered tasted absolutely delicious. It wasn't even restaurant-in-Seoul kind of authentic-- I took a bite of the food and found myself in the Jeolla Province of Korea, listening to a town ajeossi chatting with the server ajumma, tasting each fresh ingredient, almost feeling as if this was a small restaurant in the midst of the countryside and not in New York City. I almost don't want to leave this review, because I don't want this place to change. I want it to stay the small secret it is today. I'm still reeling from how great it was. I'm definitely going to be back again and again and again and again.....

Yelp
We visited for the first time. The server is attentive and very friendly. The food really taste like how your mom will prepare for you. It feels light and not heavily seasoned which appeal to what I like to eat at home. It is a homely, home-made food prepared with love.

Yelp
One of the best Korean restaurants in the city. This place cannot possibly be more cozy. They specialize in soups and stews. Some of my favorites are the odaeng sujebi (fish cake soup with hand cut noodles), samgae tang (Korean chicken soup), mandoo guk (dumpling soup) and gamja tang (pork bone soup). Their BBQ is pretty jamming, too. Portions are enormous. The banchan (free side dishes) are delicious, often made with fresh ingredients from the owners' garden, and they rotate the banchan dishes, so each time you go, you'll be able to try some new deliciousness. The staff are super nice. Healthy, nourishing comfort food in a laid back setting.

Yelp
Ive always loved this place but something changed. I live close by so i would often order out or eat in, but I am sad to say that today was the worst. I ordered my go to dish (gamja tang). When i got home I open the bag and all i could smell was clorox from the bag that contained the main dish. I took all the food out and the food itself smelled okay so i began eating it. Biggg mistake!!!!! The meat that was suppose to be there wasnt there, there was only bones. The potato was rotten and half of the food wasnt there. Honestly the food was gross, it seemed as if it was eaten, repackaged, and sprayed down with clorox. I dont know if ill be going back.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best ginseng chicken I've had. Been ordering from this restaurant for years now and it's always been on point. Happy customer :)

Yelp
Was impressed by the reviews, and tempted by the 10% Yelp coupon. But don't waste your time or money. They said the coupon expired? Really? Just say you used it to lure people in and then not honor it. Go anywhere else.
