Canadian Dumpling Specialist Tries Northeastern Chinese Food in LA Next | Eater LA

"A recently opened outpost of a highly rated Lethbridge dumpling shop, this family-run spot from founders Emily Sang and daughter Linda Shi sits in a strip mall on Pacific Coast Highway just steps from the ocean. The bright interior is decorated with Chinese calligraphy and artwork and offers a small number of new tables for dine-in or takeout. The menu showcases handmade Northeastern (Heilongjiang-style) dumplings—doughier, generously filled versions including pork with napa cabbage, shrimp and chicken, and beef with daikon and carrot—many of them fried to a plush, crisp finish; Sang also makes a vinegary soy sauce specifically for dumplings. Other highlights include house-special stir-fried noodles and fried rice with chicken, shrimp, beef and vegetables; a Northeastern-style tossed salad with greens, mushrooms, carrots, onions and roasted walnuts dressed in sesame oil and seasoning; thinly sliced fried eggplant stuffed with a coin-sized portion of ground chicken served with sweet‑sour or dumpling sauce; and a crunchy sweet-and-sour pork topped with ginger and cilantro. More familiar dishes such as Mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, and poached fish in hot chile sauce round out the menu, while wonton and noodle soups are listed as coming soon once additional kitchen equipment is obtained. Service is currently family-run with Linda likely handling much of the front-of-house until more staff are hired; hours are Tuesday–Sunday 11 a.m.–3 p.m. and 4–8 p.m., with takeout and dine-in available." - Matthew Kang

Google
First time here. The House fried rice and the Orange chicken was our favorite and might be the best we ever had. The Wonton soup and the chow main were ok but nothing special. We will be coming back

Tried this place a couple of times. The first time was delivery and the 2nd time I dined in. There’s plenty of parking in the shopping plaza and the restaurant is decent sized. The only minor issue I have is that they close at 9pm (8:30pm Sunday) which is quit early especially on weekends. But it’s family owned so no complaints. I've tried the dumplings and veggie fried noodles and both are pretty good. The food is greasy and oily and quit tasty so you can't go wrong with it. What shocked me was when I dined in and saw that they have thai ice tea for $2.69 and it's free refill 0~0 wow that's an amazing deal!!! Everything else felt a bit marked up but it's probably the area I'm in. Service is great and it's close by so I'll be back again :)

Tasty and healthy if you know what to order. As far as atmosphere goes perhaps some background music would be a vibe but overall good food.

Was hungry when heading to Redondo Beach and my best friend and I were craving dumplings and decided to give Dumpling House a try... We were not disappointed!!! First and foremost, the service you get from the owners and stuff is absolutely amazing! They are genuinely caring, thoughtful, and really want to make sure you have an exceptional dining experience. We ordered dumplings, braised beef noodle soup, orange chicken, and egg drop soup... Every dish was just so savory and delicious!!! We absolutely loved the food here and will come back again because the experience was just so warm, welcoming, and the food is authentically and delightfully Chinese.

Had found this place on a Google map search and placed an order online. Unfortunately the front sign light was out and I drove through there parking lot twice without recognizing the place. Spring rolls, chicken with snow peas, orange chicken, wonton soup and white rice were well packaged and delicious when I made it home.

Google
New Chinese restaurant with pan fried dumplings. The food is all pretty good and even though the taste is slightly Americanized, it's pretty authentic. The portion is average; definitely smaller than your usual super Asian Chinese restaurant. I recommend their pan fried dumplings, poached fish in hot chili oil, and twice cooked pork. Given the location, the price is on the higher end (between $15-20 per dish). They charge you for rice & tea so that's a bummer. I will be returning. Expect to pay $30-35 per person. The service is exactly what you expect at a Chinese restaurant. We were the only party but you have to flag them down for anything. Guess that's how you know it's authentic.

Google
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in South Bay. The food is so fresh and is always served hot. The owner is kind and provides fast service. My favorite dishes are the spicy boiled beef and the cucumber salad. If you’re in the South Bay and are craving Chinese food, I really recommend coming here!

Google
This is an amazing family run dumpling place with very fresh and unique Chinese dishes. Some of our favorites are the house special noodles, the pork and napa dumplings, the wontons soups are incredible. Their honey walnut shrimp, kung pao chicken, and healthy veggie stir fry dishes are all very well done, and great flavors. They are in a small strip mall at Prospect and PCH and there is generally plenty of free parking in the lot. The service is always friendly and the family that runs the business could not be nicer. Go support this local gem.. I feel it is the best Chinese food and dumplings you will find the area.

Yelp
I picked up Kung Pao Chicken the night before Thanksgiving. OMG! It was the BEST Chinese food I have had in many years. I always thought Chinese in the South Bay to be *meh* Nope! Even kicked a** on the delicious Thanksgiving meal the next day. I will be frequenting this place and trying more off of the menu. It was easy to order online and pickup too

Yelp
Wow, we just were driving by and I said to my friend, that looks good. Dang if it wasn't?? Homemade dumplings, wonderful green beans, eggplant appies, etc. I would definitely go back to Jiayuan Dumpling House!

Yelp
Got takeout from them. Loved the chicken-stuffed eggplant! Also got their egg drop soup, which I've been seriously missing since the last Mom and Pop Chinese restaurant closed nearby. I really recommend it! Especially the aforementioned chicken-stuffed eggplant! Thanks for the great meal!

Yelp
Good dumplings, good price, good delivery food option In cali for a vacation, and looked for some lunch. Yelp has this place as a local hidden gem, so me and the missus ordered some dumplings to try. Delivery took about an hour. No cutlery provided, but the food was hot even after a lengthy transport. Took a pic from the pool then dug in. The dumplings had a nice thin wrapper and the juices from the cooked meats made them similar to soup dumplings. The pork and nappa were tasty but greasy. Pork was seasoned with aromatic spices which complimented the earthy nappa cabbage. The chicken and corn was heavily corny, which was slightly sweet but not the freshest. The chicken got lost, but there was still flavor. The beef and scallion was the weakest bite, very tender, just lacking flavor. Really needed the sauce to make it shine. Price was very reasonable for the portions, quality was there, and they make a pretty good dumpling. This place is a good choice for those traveling and want something delivered.

Yelp
This is the go-to spot for pan fried dumplings. Honest, as an Asian lol one of the best places I've had (must eat there so it's super crispy). Family owned restaurant, super nice people/good service.

Yelp
Located in the strip mall, next door to Fed Express with a shared parking lot. Very nice and accommodating couple running the counter. Nice indoor dining area with a few chairs for to go orders. I ordered the pumpkin patties, shrimp, chicken & carrots dumplings, pork & Napa dumplings and the scallion pancake. I was told the #1 dumpling is pork & Napa and #2 is shrimp, chicken & carrot. I ordered my food to go to share with the family. The dumplings were a good size and stuffed well. The shrimp in the combo dumpling were the tiny shrimp and I assumed it would be minced shrimp incorporated into the meat mixture. I could see not taste any carrots. Pork & Napa dumplings were ok. Pumpkin patties has a mochi texture, similar to the fried sesame balls but no filling and no sesame seeds. They were fried and I think would have been better with a stuffing like Ham Siu Gok (Chinese. IYKYK). Scallion pancake was thick and didn't have a lot of scallions. I heated them up when I got home to get them more crispy. The order came with a vinegar/soy sauce and a sweet chili dipping sauce. Small portion of sauces with the size of the order. Thanks for the hospitality. Perhaps next time I will try any of the other items. Ok, bye.

Yelp
I had had this place bookmarked for a while now and finally decided to try it out. We ordered delivery so I can't speak to the vibe or service of the restaurant. We did, however, order a variety of things from the menu. Mapo tofu with minced pork: extremely oily but tasty Pork and napa cabbage dumplings: disappointed in lack of flavor, tasted completely unsalted. Veggie dumplings: lacked flavor Orange chicken: heavily breaded and chicken inside was a bit stringy. House stir-fry noodles: a bit oily, most of the noodles were broken and it felt like it was 50% cabbage and 50% noodles. Scallion pancakes: literally zero flavor. Zero. Overall, pretty disappointing. Especially because a lot of the oil dripped into the delivery bag and made a mess. We didn't finish anything and it kinda felt like a waste of calories. I'm glad we tried it but won't be ordering again.

Yelp
Classic sit down Szechuan style Chinese where the crispy dumplings are plentiful and proteins are nicely doused in Red40. Love this Beijing Beef style sweet and sour with the perfect crunch of the cream cheese wontons. Was surprised that the noodles were so flavorful! Usually they're hit or miss and mostly used to absorb other flavors.

Yelp
We have driven by the restaurants hundreds of times, however, always after meals or in a hurry. So today we decided to try it for the first time. It is located in a small plaza with adequate parking space. Inside is bright and clean, with seating for around 20 people. The server/owner was very friendly and we got seated right away. The menu was simple, clear and easy to order. We ordered the following dishes: Pork Dumpling: they were kind of bite sized and fit nicely in a spoon, the outer wraps were perfectly pan-fried, not too hard or mushy, and the bottoms not burnt. The fillings were nicely seasoned. Beef Noodle Soup: the broth was lighter than the traditional Chinese beef noodle broth, not bland just lighter, it was still flavorful. It was also not as spicy. The handmade noodles, with their perfectly imperfect shapes, were evenly cooked and slightly al dente. The slow simmered meat were tender and captured the flavor from the broth. Won Ton Soup with Side Order of Noodle: the wraps were soft but not soggy. The bits of shrimp inside of the fillings gave them a very nice consistency. The broth was also on the light side with hint of sesame oil. Quite delightful. Overall, a nice restaurant for a relaxing lunch or dinner. Will stop by again very soon for sure.

Yelp
I went in on Tuesday night 11/11. The customer service was incredible right away we were sat down by a kind older gentleman. We got Mongolian beef with a side of white rice. The portions were a good size to share with 2 people. The flavor was amazing and the Mongolian beef has a good spice (which we were told about before we ordered) 10/10. The pork and Napa dumplings lacked on flavor and the dough used seed thick 8/10. Overall I will be back to try out more of the dinner plates!

Yelp
I've been here a few times for takeout only and it's pretty tasty. I've tried the pork and napa cabbage dumplings and the pork, shitake, and green bean dumplings. They were hot, fresh and made to order. The sauces were good too. There aren't many dumpling places in the area so when I'm craving dumplings and don't want to deal with the long wait at din tai fung, this is a great place and it's family run.

Yelp
The good: I will definitely be back to this authentic and comforting restaurant! I got the chicken with snow peas, carrots, and water chestnut and it was delicious. My super picky toddler ate so much of it. It tasted unique, light and comforting. It wasn't overly dressed in sauce and had great garlic flavor. We also had two different kinds of pan fried dumplings. My other toddler and I both enjoyed the deep fried eggplant with chicken stuffed inside. It was like tempura. It was delicious and I've never seen such a dish before. The eggplant was super thin and the chicken was soft and ground up. There were many delicious options to choose from. The workers were friendly and it seemed like a family operated business. The plaza is small but there are enough parking spots. The bad: The restaurant is small and there's only indoor seating. Most tables are for 4 people but they could squeeze some together to accommodate a larger group. For some reason when we came there were 3 other tables with toddlers other than ours so the booster seat wasn't available until partway through our meal. I'm unsure if high chairs are available. My husband wanted steamed or boiled dumplings but they only had pan fried ones other than the wontons in soup. The interesting: The bathroom was larger than I expected given the small size of the restaurant. We got guava hard candies at the end of the meal.

Yelp
This place is 900 ft from my dogs' vet and I didn't want to drive anymore. My day was incredibly stressful because my doggie was having a bad day :( I just wanted to sit quietly, have some tea and scroll my social media. I was greeted nicely and the restaurant was nice and clean with ample strip mall parking. I have been to both Japan and Korea, but not China , so I don't know what scallion pancakes are supposed to taste like. They arrived nice and hot and cut into little quesadilla triangles. Pretty void of flavor and very few scallions. They were light and airy. Same with the orange chicken: void of flavor and it doesn't come with rice. Scallion pancakes, orange chicken and tea came to $30. Not likely to return.

Yelp
Fast service, nice workers (owners?), and food was relatively fast and was told the dumpling takes about 15 minutes - so they were very transparent. Food wasn't that great. It was not bad, but not something I'll crave. Portions were decent, but that might have been the highlight. It was good to have parking, they had quite a few tables, and it wasn't terribly expensive. Most likely, I won't come back.

Joe M.

Yelp
This was a nice little treat!!! Great friendly service and the entire order came out quick. Dumplings, Hot n Sour soup, wonton soup, pork buns were all great!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I love how they can accommodate to allergies and I went with some of the top dishes orange chicken and corn chicken soup egg drop. ( real orange peels were in it it says they use chicken breast) love corn chicken egg drop soup! I also got Mongolian beef which I found they can accommodate for me next time! Very sweet and nice on the phone! Person I know who picked it up said they offered samples.

Yelp
Huge bummer to find out the food is not the same as before. The waitress confirmed after our meal today that the original cook left about two weeks ago and that a new cook was in the back. I noticed it immediately after ordering the ma po tofu, my favorite dish. It didn't have the spicy tang it normally did. Sadly I can't see paying $20 a plate for mediocre Chinese food any more. What a bummer!

Yelp
10/10 recommend this place! We always get food from here for our office lunch. They are consistently serving good food

Yelp
An absolute South Bay gem! Discovered this place a few years ago and the food is amazing, and owned by the sweetest family. They have a great assortment of food, from dumplings to noodle dishes and beyond. This is one of the spots I go to with my run crew and we always have an amazing meal. Some dishes are on the spicier side, but can be adjusted upon request. A couple of the dishes we order regularly: The pumpkin patty, which has an almost mochi-like texture Chicken and corn dumplings Tasty spicy chicken Poached fish with tofu Don't sleep on this local gem!

Yelp
A couple weeks ago, we went to a meetup at the beach nearby in the morning that ended around noon, so like any good Yelper going to a new neighborhood around lunch time, I looked for someplace interesting for lunch. When I saw they had Singapore-style curry noodles as well as highly-rated dumplings, I was very much on board (I've been chasing Singapore-style noodles as good as the street food I had in Singapore in literally elementary school, it was that good.) I will say, service was great. I was also surprised to discover the tea-drinks, including Thai tea, were not only quite reasonably priced, but free refills as well, and they kept filling my glass! Solid Thai tea, too. Food came out exactly as quickly as you'd expect (the dumplings took a little longer, as advertised - they're definitely made fresh - indeed, they arrived steaming hot.) Anyway, as far as food, the Singapore noodles were great. Still wasn't as good as the first and best Singapore-style noodle dish I had when I was like 8 from a street vendor in Singapore, but it's also a lot closer than Singapore. (Though funny enough, I also I just learned today, despite the name, it's actually a dish from Hong Kong that isn't all that popular in Singapore, even if that was the first place I ate it.) Plenty of meat and shrimp and veggies, great noodles, great flavor. I think they only make this at lunch, so it's good that that's when we were there! The dumplings they're so known for that they put it in the name of the restaurant, though... were just ok (the pork and Napa cabbage ones, stated to be their best seller). My wife said she'd give it 3 stars, but this isn't her review. The filling was great, and you could tell they make them fresh to order. I agreed with her, though, that they arrived just way too oily. (Then again, I also put hot sauce on everything, or in this case chili oil, on everything, while my wife isn't a fan of peppers.) Anyway, I'd say they were decent, but a bit doughy and more than a bit oily. Definitely not the best dumplings I've had, so while I could see coming back if I were in the area (the Singapore noodles were great, they do have a wide variety of other food, and free refills on Thai tea is a draw for sure), I probably wouldn't get dumplings here again.
google avatar

Kacie R.

Yelp
When I saw this place opened up down the street from my job I was stoked. I love dumplings! But my coworkers & I went to lunch here on a Friday once and the food just wasn't that great. We went with someone who can be a bit picky so we didn't end up ordering dumplings even though they're known for that. Although my friend brought me some one day take-out, he got them around 3p and while they were good, they weren't the best. I will say maybe I have to eat inside for the dumplings and give it another try!
google avatar

Danni Y.

Yelp
Wonderful dumpling spot with great authentic Chinese dishes! I love the pork dumplings, super juicy and soft. Also i always get spicy boiled fish at any chinese restaurant I go to and this one was great! Order online ahead of time. The inside is your typical small family -run restaurant vibes.
google avatar

Bill L.

Yelp
Super-nice people running this place. Taste of the food? Outstanding! Very reasonable prices. The only way it could be better is if they had more tables (or put some tables outside). Do yourself a favor and give Jiayuan Dumpling House a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Running errands and were hungry so we stopped in for a quick bite. This is a little gem tucked away in a shopping strip mall on PCH located in Redondo Beach.. we ordered the pork and napa dumplings and a scallion pancake. Both were delicious and will definitely come back to try more off the menu. The Staff was very friendly and we were seated right away and gave us enough time to make our choices to order.

Yelp
Family-owned, local dumpling house which also offers delicious Singapore noodles, sautéed beans, eggplant and beef, as well as the tasty fried dumpling! The service is fast and friendly with an extensive menu. It is located next to fed-ex with plenty of free parking. You can eat in or take out! Delicious!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was quick. Restaurant is small and welcoming. The food was tasty and the portions were large. I liked the kung pao chicken the best.

Yelp
Been searching for a great Chinese place and decided to check this place out. Located in a small strip 'mall' on PCH and Prospect with limited tables to dine in. We ordered the chicken pan fried noodles, sweet & sour pork and the pork & Napa cabbage dumplings. The dumplings were bland and lacked flavor, definitely had to dip it in the vinegar soy sauce. Not sure why the noodle wrap of the dumpling was green in color, while other pictures of the same were white. We asked our server and he said it's because it's a spinach noodle wrap. The pan fried noodles had a sweet taste to it rather than savory which was unexpected. Adding hot chili oil helped it out a bit. The best dish was the sweet and sour pork. Fortunately we got there a little after 6 since while we were eating, the place was packed. The search for a great Chinese place in the South Bay continues.
google avatar

Lanae F.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food!! Tried 2 types of dumplings and thought the shells seemed a little thicker than I'm used to. I preferred the pork one over the chicken and shrimp one. I loved the fried rice, spicy chicken, and black pepper beef. I will come back to try some of the other dumpling options. It's a small restaurant but the tables seemed to turn over quickly.
google avatar

LORY G.

Yelp
Super friendly service, great food. Stopped by on Sunday and had the chicken soup, house special noodles and the pork and Napa dumplings. Everything was delicious. Mom loved it, and it's hard to please her! Will definitely be back
google avatar

Kristal W.

Yelp
We were in the South Bay on an errand and craving some dumplings. Yelp did not steer us wrong on this one. The shrimp dumplings, pork buns, and Szechuan eggplant were out of this world. When the teenager gives it a 10/10 you know you're on the right track. Plus, the family running this place are kind, friendly, and gave us perfect service. We will 100% be back and will be recommending this spot to friends and family!
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
4+ delicious small mom and pop type restaurant in South Bay. As the name suggests, it seems like they specialize in dumplings among other classics/ faves. The service is efficient and friendly. Because of the small footprint and relative popularity in the area, it's ideal for the restaurant and other patrons that there is a pretty quick churn and turnaround. I pretty much enjoyed everything I tried here. I liked the wonton soup, the pan fried dumplings, and the scallion pancake. The structural integrity on the wontons was pretty much perfect, with a nice firmness. The soup needed a little vinegar, but I actually prefer my soups to be a little on the under seasoned side so I can do a little modifying myself. The structure and flavor on the pan fried dumplings was great too. Definitely a great spot/ option to hit up in the South Bay, especially if you want the dinner or lunch to be a bit low key with quality food.
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
Service is great!!! Very welcoming and friendly. Fluent both in English and Chinese. Love the way they run the restaurant. Highly Recommend: mapo tofu, steamed buns, dumplings 很好吃的一家店~ 除了咕咾肉面粉比例有点多之外,其他都很地道。麻婆豆腐特别香~
google avatar

Becky A.

Yelp
I will be coming back again and again! We tried the sweet and sour chicken and the eggplant with beef. Both were great! I didn't particularly love the beef on the eggplant so next time, I'll get it without the added protein. I also want to try the fried rice next time! The service is also efficient but very friendly! The restaurant is very simple so don't expect any frills but the food is a 10/10!
google avatar

Dora T.

Yelp
I come from a family where my grandmother and my mother both used to make dumplings from scratch so we are very critical of our dumplings. I think the dumplings are good but nothing to write home about. We ordered the classic pork and cabbage and chicken with corn. I loved the tasty spicy fish and the mapo tofu. I can just eat both these dishes with some rice and I would be very content. If you love spicy like I do then you can't go wrong with these. The restaurant is small and cozy. It's located on a small plaza but parking is easy.

Yelp
We came about an hour and a half before close. The waitstaff was still very attentive. We ordered the beef braised in chili, the Mongolian beef, the Napa and beef dumplings and the scallion pancakes. My partner liked the beef braised in chili well enough, giving it a 7/10. We both loved the Mongolian beef. 8.7/10. The dumplings were delicious and fresh. 8.5/10. And the scallion pancakes, while nice and crisp and fresh...were lacking in green onion. Had to give those a 7. All in all the food was delicious and I would come here again. My suggestions to the restaurant, more scallions in the pancakes and the Mongolian beef, and the rice could have been a smidge fresher considering it's an extra charge. But everything else tasted really good and fresh. Thank you!
google avatar

Su S.

Yelp
This is a small restaurant but the food here is really good! We ordered the pork and Napa dumpling, eggplant in szechuan garlic sauce, and scallion pancakes. The pork and napa dumplings were delicious! The the dumplings had nice crispy bottoms and the pork was flavorful. It was hot so be careful when eating it! The eggplant in szechuan was good as well! The eggplant had a firm texture and the sauce was salty and sweet. It was not very spicy. The scallion pancakes were very tasty too! They were fluffy, crispy, and flavorful. Service was very kind and fast. It took around 5 minutes for our food to be ready on a fairly quiet evening. Ambiance is relaxed with a few indoor seating. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Kendra B.

Yelp
This place I always drive by so I chanced it one night with my kid. Glad I did! Ambiance is very small, 7 tables. Decor is very minimal... Service was pretty good overall. Food- * twice cooked pork dish - it was pretty good, don't really care for the pork.., seems a little rubbery bites of pork, almost like fat bacon bites... But tasty overall, had good flavors. * spicy Eggplant- This is usually one of my favorite dishes, but I didn't care for the sauce that was used... * magnolias beef- This was yummy except it had too much white onions. It usually uses green onions but they omit and substitute white onions and it was over powering. Needs less onions and more beef. Overall the food was good enough that I woke come back and try something else on the menu. Soups look really good on the other tables, will have to try this. Neighborhood decent Chinese food. Oh, didn't order dumplings but they looked really good, must try next! Parking is very small.

Yelp
This place is Wow! I was their 200th customer that week; they had a silent gift, amazing! I never win anything, so I was quite surprised. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was great! I truly enjoyed and recommend Jiayuan Dumpling House; I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Jaza S.

Yelp
Jiayuan Dumpling House is such a gem. We love getting the beef, onion, and carrot dumplings, as well as the chicken and corn dumplings--they're always fresh, flavorful, and comforting. Our absolute favorite, though, is the tasty spicy fish. It's crispy, perfectly seasoned, and has just the right amount of spice. We order it every time we go! The service is warm and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere makes it feel like a hidden neighborhood favorite. It's all about good food and good vibes here.
google avatar

Yelp
Came in with my husband for some takeout after eyeing this place for awhile now and man o man where do I begin?! The house stir fry noodles were so so good. The dumplings burst with flavor. The walnut shrimp was crispy and creamy. We'll definitely be coming back! Waited about 15 minutes for our food which isn't bad.

Yelp
The scallion pancakes need scallions. Everything else was OK - not bad. Service is great, fast and friendly.

Yelp
Occasionally I need to order food delivery for work and this is one of the regular places I order from. I like the mapo tofu with no meat and the green beans. They have good soup as well. Will definitely order from them again!

Yelp
Place is pretty small but quiet, the service was pretty good and so was the food. The shrimp fried rice was absolutely delicious but the steamed buns were too salty for my taste. As for the beef dumplings they were pretty good too but nothing over the top. I would come here again just mainly for the shrimp fried rice.

Yelp
Chinese restaurant with excellent service, clean and delicious food. This is our favorite Chinese food place in Southbay area. Dumplings not in picture but a must try.

Yelp
Portion size check. Food delicious check. Ambiance, not amazing but regular check. Service, again regular, not memorable but Also not praise worthy. I had the sichuan fish, thinking it would be the one in broth with oil on top but it was a very soup consistency. They added a fair amount of sichuan peppercorn so it was numbing but the texture was very different than what i expected. The dumplings are really the reason you go here though. It's PAN FRIED, but it's made well it's very close to a xiao long bao. Delicious, it was so good I didn't even take a photo. I would definitely come again if I'm close but not worth a far drive if you live more than 20-30 min away.

Yelp
A good option for the area. It's more than just dumplings. You'll find the typical Chinese lunch options here. I ordered the Walnut Shrimp without the creamy sauce. The batter was thicker than what I've seen. It was served with steamed broccoli which was nice. The candied walnuts were cold, not room temperature. The corn and chicken dumplings were delicious. Needed some salt though. Overall, clean cafe and small dining area. Service was just one guy but still pretty good.

Yelp
Our experience started off with a bit of confusion but ended on a good note. The day prior to our visit, I called to ask if reservations would be necessary on a Saturday if we had a party of 6 during lunch. Since we've never been there, I wanted his expertise. They didn't think ressies would be needed but the guy on the phone made a reservation anyway. After we hung up, I realized that he didn't take my name for the reservation. I didn't worry about it too much since the guy seemed confident that we wouldn't need the ressie. The next day, my sister called me while I was on my way. She arrived to the restaurant earlier than me and said the staff didn't have a reservation for our party and the restaurant was busy. She seemed frustrated, as was I since I didn't get the name of the man who I spoke to on the phone the day before. Luckily by the time I arrived, a table opened up and they were able to accommodate our party of 6 in their small dining area. Everything else went uphill from here. The food was tasty and the service was good. The online menu sometimes mentions what items are vegan. The paper menu at the restaurant has a vegetarian section. Staff is always available to help clarify. Here's what we ordered that is vegan: - Scallion Pancake https://bit.ly/3oBe7kF - Eggplant Braised in Szechuan Garlic Sauce https://bit.ly/3BY5J1K - Vegetable Stir-Fried Noodles https://bit.ly/43cprCL - Sautéed String Beans https://bit.ly/428DVSV - Bok Choy, Shiitake, and Carrots Dumplings - Spinach, Tofu, Vermicelli Dumplings https://bit.ly/3BY5L9S - Chili Pepper with Dried Tofu Sheet https://bit.ly/428DUyl I enjoyed each item. Between the two dumplings, I preferred the one with shiitake because it had more flavor. The standout dish for me was the Chili Pepper with Dried Tofu Sheet because I've never had anything like it and I enjoyed the taste and textures. I would consider coming back here.
