Jibaritos Y Mas Review - Logan Square - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Jibaritos Y Mas is a Puerto Rican spot with locations in Logan Square, Garfield Ridge, and Dunning. And they specialize in, well, jibaritos and more. For the jibaritos, they have possibly the largest variety. This means four types of steak (including churrasco) in addition to octopus, roja vieja, vegetarian which has both arroz con gandules, and grilled vegetables on it, and even a Cubano jibarito which is basically two sandwiches in one. For the “more”, all three locations offer at least 12 types of mofongo, and the Lincoln Park location offers a full brunch Friday through Sunday including cocktails infused with fresh kiwi and passion fruit." - Jessica Rome

Jibaritos y Más was a super lively and busy spot! The pollo guisado was just a little salty, but once I mixed it with the rice—it hit just right. The empanadas were full of flavor and perfectly crisp. My friend really enjoyed the beef guisado, and the tostones were fantastic—crispy, golden, and so good! And of course, we always love the butter and bread. Definitely a place we’d come back to!

Free diagonal parking right next to the restaurant if you are lucky - otherwise street parking close by makes it convenient to pop in and grab carry-out or dine-in if you prefer. Lots of to-go orders during the lunch hour. The tables can accommodate big groups if needed. Super busy all the time but always friendly and prompt service right from the start. The open kitchen area allows you to watch them cook from the pick-up counter at the front. All the staff appeared to be efficient, friendly, and professional with each other. I watched as my order was made fresh before my eyes and I couldn't wait to taste it. 🤍 Their delicious food always satisfies every single time, no matter the location. My food was well-packaged to-go with care. Nice atmosphere with salsa music overhead. Bathroom on site. Big coolers with drinks. I just wish this place was bigger since it is so popular!

Google
Found paper/plastic in my food. Not a Puerto Rican owned restaurant, owner is Venezuelan. Rudest employee I’ve ever met. The vibe here is dead, it’s not even enjoyable. The scary looking owner - is beyond rude. She has no clue how to run this business. Food is not even all that, restaurant is filthy, food is always cold, don’t bother wasting your money here.

Google
Got two steak jibaritos and a breaded steak entrée. This was my first time trying Puerto Rican food and I was very happy. I will be coming back. We waited less than 10 minutes for our food and service was good prices are very reasonable and the inside is clean.

Google
I ordered maduros for carry out, and didn’t see these until i got home! How do you even think this ok to serve to people!? Burnt, very oily, and taste like it was fried in the same oil as the meats. Absolutely gross.

Google
This establishment boasts an excellent location, delightful music, and truly delicious food. The Alcapurria was perfectly prepared – moist, fluffy, and toasted to perfection. The Lechón jibarito was exceptionally flavorful; the minced buttery garlic atop the plantain was a particularly enjoyable touch. The Lechón itself was juicy and bursting with flavor. The music selection created an authentic island atmosphere, and the prices are quite reasonable. The only thing missing was a mojito and the sound of Coqui... I will certainly be returning.

Google
Food was amazing! We went on a Sunday afternoon, so finding a seat was a bit difficult. Given how busy they were, our server did forget a few of our things. But the flavor made up for it. My hubby and I ordered two different dishes to split. It was so much food that we had leftovers for the next day. Can't wait to go back!

Google
Candellllaa com tostones, I 100% prefer the customer service here more than the other location, this one is smaller but the mofomgo personally I feel is better

Yelp
My usual jibarito spot is closed on Sundays so I decided 2 give this spot a try. Kudos for being open guys. This location used 2 be a shrimp spot before. It's clean, nicely decorated, friendly staff. Placed order with a nice male server. Waited about 15 mins then order was done. Nice!! Well not exactly. I use the alias "Carlos" when ordering out. There was another "Carlos" so I checked the bag and had 2 return. I informed them if the error which they apologized. I waited another 15 minutes for my correct order. I double checked it and it was correct this time. I ordered: a cod fritter which was quite greasy & cod-less tasting and somewhat salty; a chicken empanada which was bland, not greasy and a ground beef rellano which was quite delicious. The sauce that they give u is wayyyy 2 hot 4 me. My other half thought so 2. The steak jibarito was good - had cheese, lettuce, onions, plus smashed garlic on top(?). My normal spot places it in a cup for u. There were some hits and misses but nice that they are in the neighborhood but can use some continuous improvement.

Yelp
Good food, good service, short wait time for food cooked to order! Order at counter, clean tables or carry outs. All questions answered, and good recommendations. Street parking.

Yelp
Diache. Everything we ordered was delicious. Arroz con gandules, lechon, alcaupurrias, relleno de papa etc

Yelp
This place (Archer Ave Chicago location) consistently gets orders wrong. You can almost guarantee they'll make mistakes, particularly with customized items. You're enticed to visit by a coupon code for 15% off. However, ordering is done online only, with no place on t he site to include the code. When picking up you present the code, and "Santiago" tells you he can't do anything; the code can be applied online only. The classic runaround.

Yelp
AY DIOS MIO... THIS PLACE HAS DEFINITELY HIT THE SPOT. A HOME AWAY FROM HOME! I ORDERED BY PHONE AND IT SOUNDED LIKE THEY WHERE VERY BUSY with a sound of an amazing ambiance. The gentleman that took my order was very nice and professional and took my order. He was very knowledgeable of the menu witch I loved during my phone call due to I had tons of question. I was visiting family here in Chicago and stumbled upon this place I couldn't have been more excited about it. I was here about two weeks and on my last day before I headed back to California I called in an order. I went ahead and ordered the following.... -Pastel -Jibarito de Lechon -Side of Tostones -Monfongo de Camaron con Pulpo (shrimp and octopus) -Side of abichuelas I didnt order Arroz con Gandules (rice with pigeon peas) due to it came as a side with the jibarito! My husband thought I was crazy but I wanted to try the entire menu only if I could but I just wanted to get a taste from back home. I started off with a the pastel (tamale) I was completely amazed. It was good really good. It was almost as good as my dad's. The tostones where good too ...but just a little too big for my taste and beyond drizzled with garlic. I had to scrape it off. I loved that even as a carryout they did not get soggy. The mofongo was not as what I usually have it in P.R. but the flavor was good not completely amazed. Glad I was able to try it. It was too much of a fishy taste to me. The Abichelas where okay nothing out of this world.... But.... when I took a bite of the JIBARITO ... AY DIOS MIO... it was so DARN GOOD I couldn't get enough of it when I look down it was GONE... it was fresh it was tasty it just melted in my mouth. GOODNESS I was transported immediately to our little island of Happiness. The arroz Con Gandules was definitely good. The Portion of all the items I ordered where very generously served. When I come back to visit I will make it a point to visit.

Yelp
The Steak Jibarito with extra meat was fire and the relleno de papa was also fire. I love that I don't have to drive all the way to the north side for P R food anymore This place is a must try

Yelp
I went to this location for the first time recently. It was great with good service. Thank you.

Yelp
Came to eat with a friend order acapurrias first they brought them cold like they been sitting for a while then asked for fresh ones brought the same ones out they just dipped them.in the fryer again came back even harder took a bite and chip my tooth. Waiter didn't with in us either but I had a horrible expression here lack of service and lavk.of food I'm a cool myself so I know most definitely they were not fresh

Yelp
First time trying some of these Puerto Rican dishes and it was fantastic. We had the Pork Jibarito, Rellenos, Puerto Rican Rice and Maduros. All very freshly prepared with amazing flavors. Clean, cute restaurant with good service. A great addition to the neighborhood. We will be back.

Vicky S.

Yelp
Picking up mofongo! For the experts. Review pending. Cute restaurant. On corner. Parking is tricky, ON Archer parallel or side st, other direction. Plenty of seating inside. Cute painting on wall. Lots of windows, nice & bright. Very clean place, folks always wiping up. Seating for maybe 50. Order at counter, food delivered to table. Later..... Sooo, the legit expert tasters proclaimed the mofongos delicious, pernil & arroz con gandules as they should be. So YAY!!!! Extensive menu. Had it all. Even pasteles. And desserts. About 10 mins off I-55 @Harlem. We'll be back

Yelp
Jibarito's Y Más opening up in the southside has been an absolute game-changer! This spot has been our ultimate go-to for an authentic Chicago jibarito experience, and let me tell you, no one does it quite like them. The sheer excitement of having this gem closer to home is beyond words. While carry-out is convenient, let me emphasize - this delectable delight is best savored fresh. The flavors burst alive when served right from the kitchen, and it's an experience you won't want to miss out on. Their jibaritos are a league apart. The perfect combination of crispy plantains, flavorful meat, and a medley of toppings creates a taste sensation that's hard to replicate. Every bite feels like a delicious adventure, and it never disappoints. I've tried jibaritos from various places, but Jibarito's Y Más has an edge that others simply can't match. The dedication to authenticity in taste and quality is evident in every dish they serve. If you're craving exceptional food that speaks to your taste buds, look no further. The flavors here are so good, they're practically unbeatable. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Whether you're a jibarito aficionado or new to this fantastic creation, Jibarito's Y Más is the place to be.

Yelp
Food is very good and the amount served is great. Price is fair for the amount of food. Service was not great the day I went .The place only had one waiter taking orders and serving food. The ambiance is very crowded as the place is small and the seating is not the best. I would definitely recommend turning this location into an express location.

Dan S.

Yelp
Best PR food on the southside! Highly recommend this place for lunch and dinner. My go to is the lechon with arroz con gandules.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and food at their newest location. Tried 3 appetizers plus their signatuWonderfully the restaurant is named after and Puerto Rican rice. Wonderfull.
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
Great food. Been waiting for something like this for a while! You know they have trust issues, when you can't order though the phone! The old school customers will have to go and wait for the food because you can only order online sucks for the abuelitos.
google avatar

Irma L.

Yelp
Consistently great Puerto Rican food. Everything I've had here has been fresh, authentic, hot and delicious! Glad to finally have this in our community.
google avatar

Miguel L.

Yelp
Honestly food is traditionally great, unfortunately poor service. Visited over PR pride weekend, checked in for a table at the counter due to waiting customers. A couple took our table, and when we mentioned it to the waiter and cashier who also agreed with we were there first. Waiter decided to ask us to wait for another table that was finishing up. We decided to take our business elsewhere. Unfortunately good service is hard to find. 2 stars for good food, minus 3 for terrible business practice.

Yelp
As a former Northsider I've been waiting for a fresh PR food place on the Southside for over 5 years. Glad this gem decided to bless the Southside with their presence. IYKYK PR food is just one of those quick comfort foods that make everything right in the world on a gloomy day! As for my review. Placed an in store order for about 4 Jibarito sandwiches and some frituras. Chicken & Lechon jibaritos we're on point. It took about 15 minutesish. There were employees walking around making sure everyone was being helped. They were busy but still pushed through my order and in a timely manner. My order was correct. The place is not a quiet sit down date night type of vibe. It is fast, busy and loud. If you want hearty comfort food that hits the spot then place your orders & don't forget your alcapurria & parcha juice
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
Very good food. Loved the caldo to go alongside the mofongo. Very flavorful. Carne frita (fried pork chunks with fat) are amazing with the onions. Pastelillo is packed with meat. For my Mexican friends, Pastelillos are basically empanadas with ground beef. Free bread at table when you eat in. Had a parcha (passion fruit)drink but ask for water to mix with it, it is sweet.

Luci A.

Yelp
This si my second. time at this location and WILL NOT return. I would give them one star but I happen to like the North side locations. This is nothing like it. We ordered shrimp jibarito and lechon sandwich, both were so salty! The wait was very long, they have several workers but no one seems to know what they are doing. Our food finally arrived after long wait, it was horrible. I had a few shrimp on my sandwich, cheese was just thrown on, not even melted. My boyfriend's sandwich was thin, barely any lechon and super salty. This location gives them a bad name. They need to work on their management and get a new cook!
google avatar

zaid a.

Yelp
Great sandwich's and great service. Waiter was very helpful and explained what item I could order that didn't have pork. Both rice options have pork in it so we had to pass. The sandwich was totally worth it. The place was busy and everyone was enjoying their food and company. Definitely would return.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
We got there and added our selves to the waiting list and waited patiently for our turn. As we are standing there a couple arrived and sat themselves on a table that just became available. I notified the person in charge and told a server who were they and that they were not on the waiting list. After a few seconds the waiter comes and tells me to wait for another table and I asked why if they came after me and did not add themselves to the waiting list. All he said was sorry so we walked way. What's the point of adding yourself to the waiting list and wait more than 20minutes to be bumped off the list?

Yelp
Great food! Fast service. I was so happy to know that they opened one on the southside!!

Jose I.

Yelp
The quality of the food in this location on archer in the south side is nothing close to the location on fullerton and kedzie, I ordered carnitas fritas and they were terrible, they had the fried carnitas already fried and cold and when I ordered them they refried the carnitas again and they was bad and we ordered alcapurrias and they were raw inside and burned on the outside, I never will spend my time and money in that place again, this was first time and the last one too
google avatar

Yelp
Pros: the food is very tasty and from what I saw the place looked very cleaned . The chicken stew was really good and my partner really like the jibarito. Cons: Service matters. Ambiance: As a new spot, a simple hi, thank you or simply acknowledging you as you are standing in front matters. Looking at you with a blank stare after you state you are there for pick up does not. I get it it's busy but unfortunately that didn't leave me wanting to come back.

Angela C.

Yelp
This place was phenomenal! I got the beef empanadas and arroz con gandules. The empanadas have a ton of meat and flavor. I even ordered food to go so that I could have it for lunch the next day! The service was amazingly fast. It was super busy too. Overall yes I recommend!!!
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
The food is always amazing the one on the northside and this one there is no difference in the flavor. The only problem I have is that I drive a big motorcoach and there's really no parking at either spots and I'd like to call ahead and archer Avenue location wouldn't take my order. It's hard for me to park a bus and location that they are.

Linda C.

Yelp
Jibaritos y Mas used to be my favorite place. But they seem to be going through Shrinkflation. Lack of good employees. My Bacalito - not one piece of Bacalo! Rice y lechon - no cuero and hardly any rice. Oh small cup of beans not even half full. Pastillos half the size that they previously used to sell. I called in my order and the person taking my order asked if I wanted to give a 20% tip - are you serious for answering the phone! Shame they just opened their 5th location but their service seems to be going down hill.

Jaime V.

Yelp
The food was great. We had the bistek hibarito, with rice, pastellios and the pinchos. It was fabulous. Will be back to try some of their other food!
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
A nice addition to the neighborhood for a quick bite to eat. The food and service was great.
google avatar

Victor R.

Yelp
Finally! Some great Puerto Rican food on the South Side of Chicago!!! C'mon down and try a jibarito!

Eduardo C.

Yelp
Good food and everything is cooked fresh and ready to din or take out! Small place but big menu... my favorite place!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Gross and super greasy food that takes way to long to prepare. Also no vegetarian items avaliable here. I know of many better Puerto Rican restaurants but they won't be as cheap as this which makes me think that's the reason this place stays busy.
google avatar

Jacqueline R.

Yelp
Food was delicious!! Also, Staff was friendly. Will be goi g back to this location. The steak Jibarito was delicious!

Rossenny R.

Yelp
The food was great, the service was phenomenal. We were in Chicago from the Northeast and desperate to have Caribbean cuisine. We are from the Dominican Republic and Jibarito's food was close to home. Highly recommend!
google avatar

maria r g.

Yelp
Great place!!! Food, service and ambiance are exceptional not to mention the fact that you are acknowledged as you enter and welcomed as if you were entering their home you have that latino warmth. Food was delicious has alcapurias banana and yuca, pastelillo, pastel lechon dinner and jibarito servings were plentiful.

Chely C.

Yelp
If I can leave 0 stars I would. I called ahead to order two trays of rice. My husband shows up they gave him two sides of rice. The person who took my order lied about our conversation. I was talking to her on speaker and she read back to me my order (my husband heard the entire conversation). There was no mention of sides only trays. When I called back the "Manager" was unwilling to work with me. Very disappointed she didn't want to listen to me and became extremely combative. Not good for business.

Vivi

Yelp
Actually my coworker brings food from here. Very greasy and the accapurrias had chicken in them, the were squishy and I like it more firm. Also, it should've had more plantain in it. Acapurrias have a hint of sweetness to them, this was salty and lacking. I like mine with meat anyway. Papa rellena barely had meat. No way. Many reviews are from people not familiar with true Puerto Rican cuisine. Northside is were you get the real stuff!
google avatar

Mro C.

Yelp
YUM. We've been waiting for an authentic Puerto Rican food spot this this on the southwest side. The Jibaritos and sandwiches de pollo (chicken) and bistec (steak) are top tier, and the rice portions will have you satisfied. It's a popular spot with tasty food so you may need to be patient if you want to eat in or carry out....It's worth it!

Myrna S.

Yelp
Very good authentic Puerto Rican food. Everything is freshly made and delicious. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very friendly. They have take out and delivery also.

Kristen H.

Yelp
Tried the new south side location of this long-standing Puerto Rican Chicago chain ( apparently this is their 3rd or 4th location). I was less than impressed. It was very chaotic & messy in the store. My personal order went smooth but everyone before me seemed to be complaining about either a mistake with their order or the time it was taking to get order. I ordered steak, white rice & beans. The steak was a bit tough, rice soggy from the steak sauce leaking. Beans were packaged nice & were tasty. My general impression is they opened a bit too soon before the kinks could be worked out. Service: The order & pick- up process is very disorganized. Folks called in orders were not acknowledged, folks complaining how long it was taking after ordering. Food: narrow down the choices and do those few things really, really well & then expand to more items. Ambiance: Said before... hectic, loud and messy. With so many good places to choice from in Chicago, not sure I'll return any time soon.

Alex R.

Yelp
Been here a few times when they first opened food was great , and just like most restaurants now and days attention to detail and carelessness sets in . Food was greasy to the point where it put a hole in the bag , carne frita was nothing but bone and fat nothing fried about it . The only thing that was good was the rice , $42 lunch special huh .

Alphen I.

Yelp
Upon walking into the establishment, I already felt an air of hostility emanating from the staff. Despite this, I went against my better judgement and ordered food. The staff was extremely rude and continued to give me dirty looks that made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. At a certain point this behavior reached a fever pitch, and I decided to just take my food to go as I felt that I needed to get out of there asap. Upon eating the food in my car shortly after, it was cold and sloppily put together. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant in fear of a repeat horrible experience.

Ina F.

Yelp
The food is okay ... my thing is the pickup or delivery, I always have something missing in my order ( which I've ordered 4 times). For it being a new restaurant to the area it should be prefect, but it seems like they don't care. Let's not mention the hot chilly sauce that you pay for and the little cup is half full. Also, if I order 10 chilly sauce , I expect 10 not 5, if I order 6 I get 3 ( which I pay for). I just see them scamming where ever they can... I'll just stick to Jibarito Stop on 18 street.

Olga T.

Yelp
The food was delicious! Staff was quick and attentive. Very clean and organized. Will definitely go back. I live in Oak Lawn and won't have to drive to north side restaurant. Love it!!

Wanda P.

Yelp
Food is always fresh and service is fast. The new addition to the restaurant is absolutely beautiful!

Ben C.

Yelp
I have to say they have gotten much better since they first opened up. The food is tasty and the customer service has improved. I am also glad they started making the alcappurias with the pork "way to go" they are much better! Will definitely order from them from now on they are on my favorites list!!!
