"‘Jikiba’ is the name of the region in Amakusa, Kumamoto, where the chef was born. Attesting to the richness of the seas of Kyūshū, seafood is sourced from local waters and from the Bungo Channel. To bring out the goodness, seasoning is minimal. Appetisers, decoratively arranged sashimi and soup dishes are all decided by the chef, out of a determination to impart the flavours of the season. After these, grilled and stewed items can be selected from the menu." - Michelin Inspector
So delicious! The chef is a one of a kind (very kind) human! So much heart and soul into the food! The environment is immaculate and you will feel like a king from how he treats you. His English is great too.

Definitely one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in all of Japan.
The owner-chef is so passionate and lovely! Very good food and a great price too. He even provided a take away meal for the next day using the dish prepared for dinner 🤍

We had a very lovely meal tonight thanks to Michihiro and team. Great ambience, amazing food and nice people. What more could you ask for. My favorite was the Wagyu beef. Very happy to recommend everyone try this at least once when in Kyoto. 🙏 😋

Wonderful food and wonderful memories! <3 Enjoyed an amazing chef’s meal with many different types of fish, meat, Japanese vegetables and cooking techniques. I loved getting to know the staff and made friends with the other guests dining next to me.
Visited in the off season; called one day in advance for a solo reservation. Well worth planning ahead for!

Phenomenal dinner experience. One of the finest meals my wife and I had in our life. Michihiro and the Sous Chef were experts in their craft. I highly recommend this restaurant in Kyoto. Call to make reservations in advance. This place deserves all three Michelin stars.
