To the owner and/or manager of Jill Roberts: Find NEW sales associates!!! Wow, I can't believe I encountered such TERRIBLE customer service in ALL 3 of their stores. True story: I stopped by quickly into the Santa Monica store Saturday afternoon to inquire about some jeans I had seen in the window as I was walking by. I didn't want to take too long because I was with my cousin who was visiting from out of town and my 5-yr-old niece. Because I didn't try them on and buy them, the OLDer blonde lady who was working there basically accused me of lying after I told her I needed to check the ones I had at home because it looked very similar but I couldn't figure out exactly how they were different. This was a true statement but apparently she took it as an excuse because she said, "I think you know, but that's okay." She's lucky I was with my niece because had I been alone I would have retorted back embarrassing her in front of the other 2 customers in the shop as she had tried to do to me. Ironically, the lady doesn't know that passive aggressiveness isn't my thing so she shouldn't make such ignorant assumptions. Of course I was correct in my suspicion that there were two different style of jeans in different washes by the same designer with the same hem I was looking for - one with a slim fit and one more flared. I already had the flared one and was looking for the slim which that store didn't have but as I later learned the other 2 stores did.
The next day I went into the Beverly Hills location after having to call the Studio City location to get the store hours because it's not provided on their website or yelp. Normally I wouldn't go to so much trouble but I was on a mission to solve the mystery of the jeans and find the skinny version. After I found parking and paid the meter I saw a sign on the door stating they'd be "Back in 5 minutes." This was at 12:05pm and they open at 12 on Sundays. When I got there there was another customer waiting in front of the door but she soon left after 5-10 minutes of waiting. I could see through the clear glass doors that the store had been opened because the light was on and there was music playing from the speakers. It was so hot I went back in my car to wait with the A/C on. After 25 minutes of waiting I finally saw the girl open the door at 12:30pm. As I was browsing I inquired about a few items to which she didn't have the answers to and suspected she wasn't being very helpful so she volunteered to say, "Sorry I haven't been here in a few days." They did have the jeans I was looking for but not in my size so she offered to have them transferred from the Studio City store. I agreed, leaving my name and number and she told me it would take 3 days to get them in. I went about my business throughout the day and later realized I had some time to kill so I decided to just go there myself rather than having to wait 3 days. I called them beforehand to let them know I was coming and she sorted out the transfer situation. The girl at the Studio City store seemed nice enough, at least to my face, until after I tried on the jeans and decided they weren't for me. She called NEVON, the girl in Beverly Hills who was extremely late opening the store to let her know I wasn't taking them and Nevon obviously made some rude comment because this girl chuckled and told Nevon, "she's still in the store," code for I-can't-talk-right-now. WTF?!
In summary, these sales girls need to take some serious lessons in customer service. They obviously have nothing better to do than accuse their customers of lying and talking crap about people who could potentially increase their sales. No sale made today doesn't mean none tomorrow, next week, or next month. However, rude service today ENSURES absolutely no sales, EVER. I will NEVER EVER shop at ANY Jill Roberts store until they change their salesforce and attitudes. Girls, if you're reading this - GET OVER YOURSELF. You work in RETAIL, which is a SERVICE-oriented industry where you're supposed to be friendly and helpful, so if you aren't prepared to do your job, GET OUT.
To everyone else, go shop at Madison Boutique, they have several locations as well with a better selection of merchandise. Too bad Switch went out of business - they had great stuff and had a friendlier and more knowledgable staff.
