After that other place across town that's not worth mentioning - we sped away from that shop - JNN made me feel like we made the right choice. I felt bad pushing my friends but we needed food and the other place just didn't give a mac. Well, at JNN, the server actually greets you, brings you water, takes your order, and checks on you! Normal server things! Yay.
JNN feels like Mission BBQ inside - rather bright, music playing, but not overly kid-oriented (no loud birthday celebrations for example, I heard a waitress wish someone a happy birthday and that was that). Good southern taste. Those cheesy corn biscuits that came right out to the table, oh. my. goodness. I'm so sad that we drove out past the drive-through and it said you could order them by the half-dozen or dozen! I so could have taken another bag of those home with me. Creamy, fluffy, sweet, perfection. The special mac n cheese balls - very good, maybe a little too greasy and over-fried on the outside. Kinda masked the taste inside. As for the entree? My first bite of chicken was a little tough, but it got better as I ate into it. If you can handle a little twinge of heat, ASK FOR THE HONEY HOT BBQ SAUCE. One of the best sauces I've ever come across. It went on everything, though the chicken honestly stood on its own merits. Of the sides, I think I overdid it with the mac and the app. The collards are tasty with their meat included, but not quite cooked down enough - still crunchy. My friend enjoyed the baked beans and their meat.
Well, with good service, atmosphere, and food, I had to walk out of there with the dessert. Dark molasses, pecans all the way through? That's my vibe. And of the many north Charlotte BBQ places, I vote that this should be yours as well.
