This was my second visit to this bbq restaurant. The first time it was very good and I knew I’d be back. However, we went last night and one of our pulled pork plates was mostly uneatable. It was mostly chewy fat gristle pieces; the meat was hard to pull apart to eat. I could go into detail but I won’t for your sake. The waitress did not comment on the fact it was uneaten and spread all over the plate from trying to eat it. I didn’t complain because it wasn’t her fault and we were all finished. I should’ve, but I decided to put it in my review instead. The mac n cheese is one of their best items. The cheddar biscuits were not fully cooked. They have been out of baby back ribs both times we have gone. We tried the spare ribs last night, but it was too dry to eat. We liked the collard greens and coleslaw. I probably won’t go back after this time because the chef should have known better to serve that kind of meat at a well-rated restaurant. I don’t like when I am “chumped” on pulled pork.

We didn't feel like cooking today, it's super hot! We stopped by this location, it was packed, mainly the drive thru, we we got seated quickly inside. We both got the 2 meat two sides combo, we had the spare ribs and brisket. He got double collard greens, and I got mac n cheese and collard greens. The cheese migfims were hot and fresh. The food was tender and delicious. I'm not sure of my waitresses name. She didn't give it when I sat down, and I should have asked. Service was great, and so was the food. The Arnold Palmer hit the spot too.

Food was absolutely disgusting and disappointing ! Nothing was seasoned and my macaroni was soft/mushy. The noodles were overcooked and not seasoned. My catfish was mushy as well. My corn was supposed to BBQ but it was just sitting in watery milk. Very disappointing. The best thing on my platter was the muffin.

We've been coming to this location long and even catered to employees from here. The managers are great and very professional. However, in the past 2 months, we've had many quality issues, especially with the brisket being 70% fat and uncooked. This violates the principles of SafeServ, where the internal temperature has to reach a specific level for the food to be safe for consumption. While we appreciate the refund, it ruined multiple weekends when we had guests and made us look bad, and we scrambled to find other options later in the evening. Someone needs to do something about this. A refund is ok, but it doesn't address the underlying issue with how food is being served at this location.

Review: 7.6/10 Our waitress was very kind and attentive—she made a genuine effort to ensure we had everything we needed, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the kitchen didn't quite deliver the same level of quality. The food was just okay; I ordered the turkey, and it came out lukewarm. To make matters worse, the table biscuits didn’t arrive until we were getting ready to leave. Overall, the service was great, but the kitchen could use some improvement.

Well, well Done! You did it again Jim N Nick's!! Food was busting! With Great flavor and Great Atmosphere. This is my go to after church Spot! And any other day too. Fast service and hot Food every time. I don't know how they Smoke that Turkey but Ba- Bae it was good. And the Cheddar Muffins with the soft warm butter. I can eat that all by itself, Yummy. Try the Smoked Turkey and the Marble Brisket and Thank me later! Michael was a great Host and Sever. Very warm and friendly. Always attentive and always right on time with refills. Before we even asked he delivered what we needed. Thanks Jim N Nicks C Ya next time!

I am visiting from out of town and thought I would search for a quick add-on to my meal I already had. initially went drove up to the drive thru and service was quick. However, I was there at the height of a Saturday afternoon/early evening (5P). They had no pork or baby back ribs; the wait would be at least an hour. I got out of line and decided to go in to place a take out order. Since all I actually wanted was coleslaw to go with food I already had at home, I decided to get a meal for later at least that was going to do. The brisket plate was $28; why when a pound is $29? Crazy. Inside I ordered 2 coleslaws and a lemonade. The lemonade was immediately brought out to me, but I waited 20 minutes for a side order. The restaurant was not packed and there was rapid progression in the drive thru lane although I can see that since they didn't have any ribs ready. This was truly a disappointment for a BBQ restaurant on a Saturday.

Anya is probably the best waitress me and my family have ever interacted with. Her service makes some amazing BBQ a step above. Worth the drive and wait every time. Will be back

Yelp
Love Jim n Nicks! The food is always delicious and comes out fast! The sweet tea and ice is soooo good, and their servers are always friendly and on top of it.

Amber R.

Yelp
The BBQ was on POINT! And the biscuits are even better! A definite must go if you're in East Cobb craving some BBQ.

Yelp
Love the drive thru! Food is always quick & delicious. Service is nice too! The loaded baked potato with brisket is my favorite!

Yelp
As a snob for high quality BQ, this one is average. Just my opinion. It's been a while since I've dined here, but we might try it again in the near future. It's more of a chain type restaurant and not a Texas or North Carolina style BQ. Three stars

Yelp
The service was good, I definitely wouldn't complain. The restaurant was nice and clean. The fried catfish was excellent. I'd definitely choose that in the future. The portion of brisket was SUPER small. I had two small slices. For the portion alone I would choose that. The ribs were ok at best. By far the best part of the meal was the Catfish.

Yelp
I've only had their Christmas to go smoked turkey prior to this dine-in visit and man, it was good. We came here on the coldest day of the year, so as expected, it was a slow night. Our server was very efficient and was able to knowledgeably recommend some menu items. I ordered baby back ribs, which come with two sides. I opted for collards and corn on the cob. We also received the complimentary bread basket, consisting of the most delicious cornbread bites. Food arrived within minutes of us placing the order. Overall: good service and food, full bar, plenty of parking and great menu choices. Definitely give it a try.

Yelp
This place gets busy at dinner time, so if you go, take that into account. I love how they have the drive-thru for convenience. I order the smoke turkey breast with baked beans and collard greens and it is so good! The white bbq sauce is my favorite to eat my meal with. Always stop here for dinner on lazy nights and never disappointed.

Yelp
I had a craving and decided on this location for bbq yesterday. I went through the drive thru which had a line but seemed to move swiftly. Staff was nice and answered any questions I had. I ordered the 1lb classic spare ribs which comes with 4 ribs and two sides, for my sides I ordered the baked beans and corn on the cob. This food was really so good! The ribs were tender and the corn was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I go when I'm on the Westside, as we don't really have any in the city. The food is usually fresh and good. The servers are always nice and I usually don't have to wait. It's never empty, but also not packed. Very chill and laid back. The drive-thru is a nightmare though. I got the 3 meats meal. Brisket was amazing! Fish was crispy and fresh. Sides were good. Didn't care for the ribs. I think the baby backs would've been better. That bread!!!! My gawd!!! It's just so good! Definitely a must try if you're in Cobb.

Yelp

Yelp
Ordered food on mothers day and it was ready when stated. But got home and realized they forgot the deviled eggs!!! Called and they were able to refund over the phone. I would recommend

Yelp
I decided to go for the spare ribs at Jim 'N Nicks (mostly because I was running too short on time to fire up the smoker and do it myself in time for the NFL Playoff games). I've had Jim 'N Nicks before at various events but I've only had the pulled pork sandwiches (they are good). I'm a little picky on 'cue so my expectations were not very high. I ordered online for curbside pick up. I ordered 3lbs of spare ribs, Mac & Cheese, and Baked Beans. The ribs weren't bad at all, they had a decent smoke ring but needed perhaps a little more seasoning they were tender and just a little chewy. The sauce was a little disappointing but not bad. The portion size was acceptable (I had left overs for the next day). The Mac & Cheese was exceptional and I do recommend highly. The Beans ....very disappointing in taste, I would not recommend at all. The Biscuits were good but I would have expected a few more. For a chain restaurant the spare ribs weren't bad and the service was very good (extremely friendly). If you don't have the time (or touch) to either do it your self (or deal with the wait at a Mom & Pops BBQ) I would recommend Jim 'N Nicks if Ribs are on your mind.

Yelp
Great baby back ribs and enough to feed an army if you spring for the "full" rack !!!

Yelp
Prices getting sky high but the food is still good. The staff is always friendly. Five stars as usual.

Dion M.

Yelp
Staff was excellent... brisket was super salty and sausage was overcooked. Sides were good, protein was bad bad bad

Yelp
Great service and food! Love the cheese biscuits and brisket sandwich. My wife loves the collard greens and mac and cheese.

Aletta S.

Yelp
Good gracious!!! My first time here! I did the two meat platter with ribs, pulled chicken, collards, and baked beans. My favorite was the pulled chicken! The sauces that came with it were great and the chicken was cooked perfectly!!!!!

Yelp
After a long day at an infusion center, I had a taste for grilled fish and shrimp. I was hungry and Jim 'n Nick's was close by so we settled on fried fish instead. It is usually pretty good from this location. My mom and I ordered and we're going to split a 2-piece fried extra crispy catfish with potato salad and macaroni & cheese. We went through the drive through. The cashier repeated our order but had mistakenly rang in baked beans instead of mac & cheese. She quickly corrected it. Shortly afterwards, we received our order and noticed the breading/batter on the fish was barely noticeable. This was in no way extra crispy. The drive-thru line was long so I assumed they were so busy that some things had been overlooked. We told the cashier who said we could have the existing fish dropped again or have another order prepared. Before we knew it the manager Timothy was in the window asking about the problem. His tone was very defensive. When we said we would prefer a new order as it is unsanitary to drop fish that we've handled into the fryer again. As well, dropping fish again wasn't going to help with the lack of breading. As if we were after a free order, Timothy said he wasn't about to give us another order. So we asked for a refund as we put the boxes back in the bag. Timothy then said he would need that order back without realizing we were already handing it to him. I've eaten at this Jim N' Nick's location several times after my cancer treatments. I've always received excellent customer service and hot and tasty food. I've never experienced Timothy or anyone with his tone. He needs additional training on how to handle customer complaints. I will give this location another try because their overall track record has been good with me. I hope I'm able to return and increase the stars real soon. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get pictures of the fish but I did attach the receipt.

Yelp
I placed a ToGo order for a Brisket and a Rib plate. The restaurant has a Drive Thru and it actually moved quickly. All of the food was good. I ordered greens and mac and cheese for the sides. The mac and cheese is always creamy and cheesy. They give you a good portion of food. I ate half of my plate for lunch and the rest for dinner. The restaurant forgot to put cheese biscuits on both plates. I drove back to the restaurant and they gave me a half dozen of cheese biscuits. I met the manager and he was super nice and conversational. This location was good... But I must say that the Marietta location is my favorite. I tried a few BBQ restaurants and Jim n Nick's is at the top of the list.

Yelp
This location has been my go to for ribs for a minute They're slipping with there wait staff and customer care our waitress was the worst, and we had to get someone else to Serve our table Food was still amazing ! As always

Andrew W.

Yelp
Great service, very friendly, clean. I will most def give Jim n nicks another visit in the near future. Kameron was awesome.

Yelp
Waited 15 minutes, no server! The only place busy in this restaurant is drive thru, absolutely unacceptable! We left!

Yelp
Wanna give much deserved recognition and a shout out to our server Danaja! She was incredible! She provided exceptional service! She was very attentive and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. It was awesome to watch her do her job, she was running around that place with diligence and intention, taking very good care of us and all her customers. She definitely deserves recognition! That girl was busting her butt, she earned a well deserved tip! Also wanna give much respect and recognition to the manager, Mario. I had a minor incident a few weeks back where some fries were accidentally forgotten on my drive thru order (mistakes happen) and Mario made it right by providing exceptional customer service in remedying a situation like that. Thanks bro, it's much much appreciated!!

Yelp
The food was excellent and a real value compared to similar restaurants in the area. I kind of forgot about this place but we definitely be going back. Try the original and white bbq sauce. Mac n cheese is killer. And the pulled pork was excellent.

Yelp
Try the ribs and biscuits! One of my fave in the area! Mac and cheese is a hit. Order at the counter or do drive thru

Yelp
Service was great. Food great, came out quickly. very clean. Lovely atmosphere with tv's.

Yelp
The catering department makes absolutely no sense. They require a minimum of 20 people and $250 in spend, but if you have 15 people and want to spend $500 they won't cater your event. Seriously, I can't make this stuff up. Business must be so good that they can simply chase it away...

Yelp
I live within 2 miles of the Jim N Nicks in Hoover. I used to LOVE this restaurant. It had a great neighborhood culture. Great food, and especially loved the home-cooked vegetables and sides. No more. The last two times we've been in, the wait staff is either negligent or surly. The music was so loud we couldn't hear one another talk. We asked if the volume could be turned down, but they said no. They offer very few sides now. The bar-b-que chicken sandwich had a lot of fat on it and was cold, along with the fries. I asked for it to be heated, and it took them 15 minutes to return it. My friend had already finished his food by then. You can definitely feel the impact of a declining culture. Less quality, higher prices. Less nice staff. I've actually had them tell me they were out of mashed potatoes. How does that happen??? I don't think they even offer them anymore. I had a bad cold several weeks ago, placed a "to go" order, and went through the drive-through to pick it up (after waiting in line 15 minutes), I was told I had to go park and come inside the restaurant to pick it up. It was ready--they just wouldn't give it to me. I hope no one caught my cold. They just don't seem to have any interest in running these restaurants anymore. SO SAD!

Yelp
One of their sites just opened here in Rome, GA this week and I tried it for the first time today. I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries. There was nothing special at all about the sandwich and the fries were slightly soggy. I guess that is expected since it is a chain and on the line of Panda Express, Fizoli's, Olive Garden, or any other mass marketing chain. There was nothing really wrong with any of what I got. The pork was tender but the sauce was not that good and the smoke was a bit overdone. On the really positive side, they have taken a page from Chic-fil-Lay with two drive-thru lines staffed by order takers with tables making it easy to place your order. If you are paying by card or electronically, you can pay right there. If paying by cash, they will take your money when you pull up to the takeout window. They have runners that will take your cash, give you change, and then deliver the food to you when it is ready. Very quick and efficient.

Bennett S.

Yelp
The food is the best. Everything is good from the loaded potatoe, the bbq chicken, the smoked turkey is really good. The staff is the best. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. TVs with sports on all the time.

Mary C.

Yelp
This restaurant was wonderful. Our bartender , Michael really took care of us. I had the potato filled with brisket which Michael suggested. It was delicious and the service was fast. We will eat here again

Camara H.

Yelp
Food tasted great, plus excellent customer service! Antonio, one of the managers made sure my experience was top-notch! Customer service is sometimes a lost art, but he nailed it!
google avatar

R P.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times and the service is usually pretty good. My last visit will be my last to this store. I sat at the bar and waited a few minutes, the bartender who was a guy walked around me a few times and after a few minutes he finally acknowledged I was sitting there. I ordered the chicken sandwich, the chicken was so dry, I think it was left overs from the day before. I have never gotten strands of chicken from there before, it's usually chucks of chicken. He never asked me if I needed anything, I had to ask for everything including the small Muffins. The place wasn't busy at all, maybe this is why.

Anne D.

Yelp
good food good service. Not a bad price for bbq!! love their biscuits and banana pudding.

Yelp
Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q is a small, regional chain that specializes in barbecue. To be specific, I would say they specialize in Alabama style barbecue and for me the best part about Alabama barbecue is the Fantastic Alabama white sauce. If you are unfamiliar with Alabama white sauce, it is a mayonnaise-based barbecue sauce. I know it might not sound the most appealing, but it's so works with chicken and pork. In fact, it was at a Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q location in Alabama that I first discovered Alabama white sauce and I have been a huge fan of it ever since. My go-to menu item that I order at every Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q is their chicken with both their barbecue sauce and their Alabama white sauce. It really is wonderful, especially when you realize that it is a chain restaurant. The service here was good and the food was great. I woukd definitely recommend a visit here.
google avatar

James N.

Yelp
Placed an online pick up order. They forgot our fries. The bbq itself was good. Marbled brisket was delicious, not too fatty, but it was just too salty, and I love salt. Was impressed though overall but I had lower expectations going in, so I was pleasantly surprised even if the meat was overly salty. Biscuits were good as were the collard greens. It didn't really need the sauce but in this case I used the sweet bbq sauce to make the brisket taste less salty. Order was ready within a few minutes after we arrived but definitely check your order before you leave because I heard they forget things like fries or other items all the time.

Lilly G.

Yelp
Food was disgusting, bland and no seasoning! Horrible food quality. Chicken was chewy under cooked. Chicken tenders tasted like fish. Save your money this location is not good.

Valerie D.

Yelp
Burger was ok. A bit rubbery. Service could improve. The waiter was distracted and even brought out the wrong burger. I had to wave him down as he was talking to other staff and not on customer service.
google avatar

Alicia W.

Yelp
I should've read the reviews first...they're always out of something after you've waited in the drive thru 10-30 minutes. It's definitely the slowest drive thru in Cobb County; even when you finally get to the window to pay...you'll wait some more. Smoked wings don't any have seasoning or a smokey taste like smoked meats should. Mac'n' cheese is decent. Collard greens are usually decent; I just don't want cheese corn muffins w/greens. Deviled eggs are good when they have them(they're usually out). If you don't want to cook, it's a good option. A high price for a high lack of flavor!
google avatar

Folayan B.

Yelp
I ordered Uber eats and half of my order is missing. I tried to call restaurant but nobody answered the phone. It's so frustrating when the restaurant doesn't take the time and care to ensure all items are included in the order. Definitely don't recommend ordering through delivery service
google avatar

Sydney S.

Yelp
I got takeout from the Jim N Nicks in Smyrna/Vinings, GA (first time at this location). Not only was one of my sides missing (I didn't realize until I got home), but my ribs were absolutely horrible. More like beef jerky that was impossible to eat, and the house salad I paid an extra $2.49 for was full of lettuce that was going bad. So I paid for a ribs meal that I intended on having for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow...and actually just have to eat something else entirely. Other than the cheddar biscuits, this meal was an absolute waste of time and money. I was also given like 5 sets of disposable silverware, a few of which were already opened and missing forks. With the exception of this visit, I absolutely love Jim N Nicks and have never had a negative experience.
google avatar

Skylar M.

Yelp
I enjoyed Jim 'N Nick's low and slow-smoked barbeque. They used original rubs and hickory smoke and make sure every bite of pork and brisket was packed with flavor that melted in my mouth. I could tell they smoked their meat around the clock to use only the freshest ingredients. I will be back for holiday catering.
google avatar

Blake W.

Yelp
Jim N Nicks is hands down the best BBQ chain I have ever been to. The cheese biscuits are to die for. The Mac N Cheese is literally the best out there. Their pulled pork is as good as it gets. I don't even typically like BBQ chicken but theirs is so juicy and tasty it is hard to resist. Try it with the white sauce. This location like any location I have been to has great service and the food is consistent as heck. I work nearby and it gets really busy at lunch. Try and beat the crowd and get there by 11:45a and enjoy the amazing smoked meats. You won't be sorry. Clean, friendly, plenty of parking, and incredible BBQ. Plus there are always managers walking around checking on you. I don't know what they do to make their meats so smokey, juicy and tasty, but they got it down. Last note...buy some of their cheese biscuit mix while you are there. Follow the directions to a tea and you will get close to what they serve at their restaurants, but not quite as good, but still amazing.

Yelp
Its still a 3.. I love the food here . Today I was in a hurry. Saw only 2 cars in drive theough.. so I pulled up ordered a piggies potato and large Arnold palmer.. as I proceeded to the window i.realized I didn't have my wallet. Dang it. I get to the window and ask if there was a way to pay online.. he said no. In haste for being late to work I pulled off. When I got to work I saw I could actually order on line for pickup.. so advise the People at the drive thru.. he is not new I've seen him before. If I had more time I would have drove around to curbside ordering. Get better...
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
Great price for value and amount of food. Highly recommend a plate with different meats. BBQ sauces on the side are delicious for dipping.
google avatar

Brittney G.

Yelp
I think I just became a vegetarian. This isn't my first time visiting this location but I think it may be my last. My mom had a taste for BBQ so I recommended Jim N Nicks since it was nearby. I ordered a quarter chicken and she ordered pulled pork. My chicken was questionably undercooked as it was shades of pink, but that isn't what has me now considering going vegetarian (or more likely pescatarian because I can't give up fish). My mom's pulled pork was not pulled at all. It was also cold and just overall not appealing. Both of us looked at her plate and nearly gagged. So, understanding that things happen, I called the restaurant back. The person who picked up was very nice and said that the a manager was busy but would give a call back. I'm hoping to hear from them soon. But in the meantime, wanted to share my experience so that someone else considering takeout remembers to open the box and check their food before driving off. The 2 stars is for the bread and baked beans. If it wasn't for their tasty bread and seasoned beans, this would have absolutely been a 'zero' experience.

Roberts F.

Yelp
Food was great wanted to be served but this one does not serve. The food was wonderful and the portions were ample.

Yelp
I'm so full! Ordered the 3 lb of spare ribs and it was definitely way too much so tons of it is going home for a snacking throughout the week. The cheese biscuits are so damn good and that's probably why I got full cuz I had one of those and I had to have a few onion rings before the ribs came. I would highly recommend and we had a waitress named Gina Who was the best! So when you come in ask for her !!! And now I'm going to go home and change into elastic pants! Lol

Angel H.

Yelp
The delivery girl and guy at the window were so rude Sunday, Dec 31 at 12:39 pm. They were both snarky. I spoke with the manager. then the girl came out and asked everybody but me if they wanted a drink while they were waiting. Super unpleasant people. whoever hired them did very poorly.
