I live within 2 miles of the Jim N Nicks in Hoover. I used to LOVE this restaurant. It had a great neighborhood culture. Great food, and especially loved the home-cooked vegetables and sides. No more. The last two times we've been in, the wait staff is either negligent or surly. The music was so loud we couldn't hear one another talk. We asked if the volume could be turned down, but they said no. They offer very few sides now. The bar-b-que chicken sandwich had a lot of fat on it and was cold, along with the fries. I asked for it to be heated, and it took them 15 minutes to return it. My friend had already finished his food by then. You can definitely feel the impact of a declining culture. Less quality, higher prices. Less nice staff. I've actually had them tell me they were out of mashed potatoes. How does that happen??? I don't think they even offer them anymore. I had a bad cold several weeks ago, placed a "to go" order, and went through the drive-through to pick it up (after waiting in line 15 minutes), I was told I had to go park and come inside the restaurant to pick it up. It was ready--they just wouldn't give it to me. I hope no one caught my cold. They just don't seem to have any interest in running these restaurants anymore. SO SAD!
