Other than the obnoxious pop-country blaring over the speakers, it was actually pretty good. We had the 2lb ribs and the 3 meat combo. Potato salad was excellent and the muffins are a nice touch. Ribs were cooked well, sauces weren’t too sugary and the pickles were crunchy and well made. BBQ chicken was the highlight of all selections. Perfectly moist and cooked to perfection. Carolina pulled pork was velvety soft and the brisket was a bit to firm and greasy. Peach tea was perfect on a hot day, but I recommend topping it off with unsweetened tea unless you like reaaaal peachy stuff. Collard greens were cooked well, but I had to add hot sauce. Bartender (only works Sundays) was very helpful and fun to talk to. The whole system they’ve developed is a well oiled machine and managed extremely well.

The 2 meat platter with Carolina Pulled Pork and the lean brisket was good. I wouldn't say I was jumping up and down, but it's was solid. Great service at the bar top. Wish they had a larger beer selection that included an IPA or Hazy.

Wow! Great food. Great atmosphere. We have been here 3 times and have had an outstanding experience each time. When you walk in you place your order in the front. You pick a table to sit at and the server brings out your food to you. The brisket is perfect. The Mac and cheese and potato salad is some of the best I have ever had. The cheese biscuits are fantastic. They have a handful of deserts that they offer. I haven’t tried them yet. Cool pictures on the walls too. Definitely recommend.

Got some takeout from Jim 'N Nick's during some bad rain. I got a burger with everything, Mac and cheese, and a corn bread muffin. Great food. Value is decent for the price. No issues with parking as there plenty of it. We did not have to wait for our meal. Will try them again during better weather.

Our party of 10 headed to Chuy's Mexican on Black Friday and had an hour wait. The adults from out of state questioned how good Mexican food could be in TN. Complaining hungry children unaccustomed to waiting led to a search of other restaurants. We could see the Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q sign and headed over there after calling to inquire whether there would be a wait and being told there wasn't. We arrived just in time as a line quickly formed behind us. This was a busy place. First, the sliced (important--not chopped) brisket platter was delicious as all the other dishes seemed to be, too. BBQ is not cheap. Service seemed a bit slow, maybe because of the number of customers there. You walk up to place your order, then find a table, and we had three separate orders for our party of 10, no problem finding a table large enough, all was good. Kids meals at a great price. An order of cheese biscuits, with a delicious butter, were devoured. Everyone left full and satisfied with the meats, sides, and cheese biscuits.

Staff was prompt in taking my order catfish sandwich and beef brisket sandwich. Both were delicious the catfish was hot and fresh and so was the brisket. Mac and cheese was surprisingly good and cheesy along with peach tea.

Great BBQ, ribs were a little tougher that I would have liked. Chicken and Pulled pork were outstanding. Overall a great place, definitely coming back.

SerpAPI
Amazing pulled pork sandwich I had for lunch. Staff was very friendly and courteous. If you get the pulled pork sandwich, order it with mac n cheese, and put it on the sandwich, trust me.

Greg D.

Yelp
BBQ is fantastic! You must have the deviled eggs app too! I love the jalapeno cheddar smoked sausage!

Adam G.

Yelp
Drive thru is always slow and we still have an "impact fee"? Really? Price increases didn't cover your cost enough?

Yelp
This review is for food we ordered through delivery on UberEats. We ordered the Mr Jim combo plate, which includes 3 meats (pork, chicken, or tucket, two sides, and biscuits. You can pay about $3 extra if you want brisket and spare ribs. For my meats, we got their ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. The ribs were my favorite. They were cooked perfectly and came with two types of sauce (a spicy and sweet one). The pulled work was okay. The chicken was really moist and delicious. We ordered some onion rings on the side which I probably could have done without. They were good but I just had so much food. I would recommend them if you are craving onion rings. The cheddar biscuits and mac and cheese we got that came with my meal were also good. The mac and cheese were yummy and the biscuits were moist. It was a nice alternative to corn bread. We also got a coconut pie and banana pudding for dessert. Both were great but we really liked the coconut pie. I know a lot of people enjoy their banana pudding but we prefer the coconut pie. All of our food was about $70 which we thought was fair for the amount of meat and food we got. The next time we are Franklin and want some BBQ we would consider ordering from them again.

Yelp
Jim N Nick's was a pleasant surprise because, based on reviews, I was nervous. To get this out of the way, it's not a traditional full service restaurant. When you arrive, you order at the counter and receive a buzzer number that you place on your table so they can bring your food to you. It wasn't too busy when we went, so we were in and out. We ordered the beef brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese, pulled pork sandwich with fries, coke, and peach tea. The peach tea is made to order, and it was so freaking delicious-included real peaches in it. The food was tasty. I loved their brisket, super tender and bursting with flavor. The Mac and cheese was also a good choice. Yes, on the smaller side, but it's definitely delicious. Their fries are seasoned well, too. The sandwiches come with their cheddar biscuits. They are tiny, and I wish I had more. The setup is pretty big inside and decorated with bbq related things. I'm definitely glad I stopped in.

Yelp
This place used to be ok, but post COVID it's not so good. You now order behind a counter, and it always feels like there's just 1 or 2 employees in the whole restaurant. The food quality has gone downhill as well. The loaded potato can be pretty large, but it's also been super small. (Sometimes 2 potatoes and sometimes a potato that's 1/2 the size of a regular potato. neither is a great option.) The little cheesy breads now sometimes feel stale and cold. In a pinch maybe I'd come here again, but most likely not.

Jeremy P.

Yelp
Every time I come here, my order is typically the same: catfish, collard greens and macaroni. The service is always exceptional at the bar. The restaurant is always nice and clean. Jim N Nicks has some of the best catfish around.

Nicole G.

Yelp
I've been sitting here for over an hour now for my order. Unreliable. Would not recommend to order on Uber Eats. Update. After 1hr 20 min they cancelled my order. Don't order here!

Tish W.

Yelp
Was hesitant when I saw three and half stars and now I want to give them 7 stars! The food was delicious the service was superb (Alex was Awesome!) and they were so accommodating to our puppy when we sat outside. Totally recommend the onion rings and the brisket nachos and the spareribs!

Dan T.

Yelp
Drive through service was friendly and pretty fast for bbq but that's about the only plus. Ribs were dry and did not seem fresh. I'm not looking for competition bbq but this just wasn't good. The wings and cornbread were the only winner in the mix. The lemonade was awful fountain mixed lemonade which is not what I expect from a bbq joint. Definitely won't see me back. Martins will be my standard bbq joint around here.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
The staff are helpful & friendly. And compared to the rest of the bbq I've had here since moving to TN (besides Eddie's), it was decent. Not as good as GA & nowhere near as good as my home state of NC But so much better than a few other places I've tried around these parts. The prices aren't terrible, considering the area. I'd visit again.

Yelp
Jim 'N Nick's has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I have always enjoyed the service, the atmosphere and to top it off EXCELLENT food. This was my 1st time to visit this Franklin location since it changed the dine in experience. It's mid at best!!! You feel rushed to place an order at the counter when you walk in, which feels less than welcoming. Our total was still over $60 for 2 people...next you fill your own drink and pick a table. On the plus side of things your food is brought out quickly. We asked the guy who brought out the food if there was any habanero sauce or salt and pepper. He said, "Yeah we have that!".... Ummm ok He was gone before we could ask where or do we get that ourselves. You get your own refills... I had to wait until very 10 minutes to see the next employee to ask where I could get a to go box. Summary was subpar food. Meats were all over cooked. Friendly face when we walked in and gladly accepted our money...but warning YOURE ON YOUR OWN AFTER THAT....

Matt L.

Yelp
This place is okay, I mean they are in business due to lack of competition. They have a really great location and their drive through is really efficient. The food is just okay.

Tim G.

Yelp
I just can't get over the complete lack of service. The food is good. Perhaps not quite as good as it was before, but still very good barbecue worthy of a 4-star review most of the time. At least a strong 3-star review. But the service is terrible. Their new format involves placing orders at the counter instead of the table service they had offered previously. I suppose that's a good thing because in our experience over the past couple of years the table service was inattentive and slow. We had been in the habit of ordering to-go here, but even that has been a disappointment. The online ordering system defaults to telling you that your order will be ready in 40 minutes. Almost without exception the food is packaged up and waiting for you within about 15 minutes. So you can count on the food cooling off for a good 20+ minutes if you arrive when the online order tells you that your food will be ready. The staff seems to be focused on ignoring guests. There is no longer a host near the front door since they don't have table service. Every time I've gone in recently there aren't any staff near the front door. When you finally find someone they almost always seem like they hate their job and wish you weren't there. I still like their food, and they're open on Sunday evenings when a fair number of other restaurants are closed. But it has gotten to the point that every time we eat here I wonder why we still show up. The food is good, but not good enough to make up for the terrible service.

Dennis P.

Yelp
Now at JN you serve yourself.... Got yelled at for not placing my table tracker on the red spot. Brisket sandwich and drink was $18.09 before tip. Not sure who I am tipping and the food was dropped off and I get my own drinks. Fries were cold and bun had a thumb/finger hole. And what happened to their biscuits as they are quarter size. Used to get a basket of them.

Cooper F.

Yelp
I honestly have no idea what Robert Lipe was trying to convey In his previous review. Nothing about this is messy? It's actually delicious and the employees are great. If I came across this establishment amid a 5 star restaurant I'd rather come here to eat. As you can see in the picture I attached to this, my friend could eat here for one night and want it to be repeated for the rest of his life. Thank you

David Q.

Yelp
I stopped an picked up some carryout an was not disappointed. I had eat'n here when they first opened an was good then an remains the same. Barbeque is great, catfish is awesome an staff is on top of their game... I ear barbeque all across the country, this one may seem a little unique but it stacks up with some of the best in Texas, Mississippi, an Georgia! Don't miss the opportunity to try this Barbque place!

Jorge O.

Yelp
Was in Franklin Tennessee for some business. My wife and I found this place close to my hotel. This place did not disappoint. The food was hot and had lots of flavor. We didn't have a single piece of food that wasn't good. The counter service does kinda suck because I wanted to chill and have a full service restaurant experience. Either way, the food and the friendly service were great. Will come back if I'm in Nashville again.

S B.

Yelp
Delicious! Biscuits, brisket, Mac and cheese, tea. Little mixup with the other side, but the beans were good too. We'll save potato salad for next time I guess.

Ella W.

Yelp
My friend who was wanting some honey mustard waited not long, about five minutes, then decided to find the waiter, Christa, herself. When she found her, she just polity said, "excuse me?" and the waiter responded with a awfully rude look and spoke very disrespectfully to her. I would hope that in the future we could see a different response to customers. Other than the service, the food was great!

Tom M.

Yelp
Barbecue and smoked Turkey were very good. It would have been great if the temperature were hotter. The greens were very good and hot like the meat should have been. The white sauce is very good too. We will be back. All the employees were very helpful and asked often if we needed anything.

Margaret D.

Yelp
I'm from Memphis, so I know my BBQ. The thing is, I haven't lived in Memphis since 1997, so I've searched for good BBQ in many states -- Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Georgia, California and even middle Tennessee! You'd think that BBQ in Nashville, Tennessee, not even 200 miles from Memphis would be as good. I'm here to tell you it isn't. I've tried Martin's - weird sauces and the meat tastes like lighter fluid every time and Corky's (which is fantastic in Memphis) in Brentwood is just not even half as good as what you'd get at their Memphis branches, and I've sampled many other lesser known local joints. I'd about given up until last night. On a whim and not wanting to cook after holiday shopping, I hit up Jim 'N Nick's drive- thru for a family pack. AMAZING! The meat was just right and had a fabulous taste, the sauce was just the right flavor and the slaw was heavenly (if there's not slaw on your BBQ sandwich, you don't know what you're doing). It had the perfect amount of mayo and vinegar in it -- it sat correctly atop the pork without being runny. And I didn't have to tell them "no pickles" -- that's a weird thing for a Memphian, to have pickles on their BBQ! Maybe if your slaw is lousy, you throw pickles on it, but like I said, Jim 'N Nick's coleslaw was just perfection. I almost forgot -- their baked beans were delish! Just the right amount of spice and heat. Yum! And it wasn't just me saying this -- my husband and son were saying, "Somebody knows what they're doing!" We are so pleased to have found Jim 'N Nick's and we will definitely be back for more sandwiches and can't wait to try their ribs! If you want fantastic BBQ, this is the place!

Linda B.

Yelp
The food was just okay. We had to get up twice to tell our waitress that two items were left out of our order. It's kind of expensive for what you get.

Courtney D.

Yelp
love love love !! I am a weekly Jim n Nicks diner!!! I typically order half chicken or turkey fries and a baked potato!! Best chicken- very juicy (order dark meat) and flavorful. Turkey is vey tender and seasoned well. I also order extra biscuits you can't just eat two and be satisfied! In short let me just say i highly recommend Jim and Nicks i have never had a bad experience, and remember I go weekly!

John O.

Yelp
As a family we have been ordering and picking up carry out from our local restaurants every Friday night for nearly a year. I say this because it has shown us that customer service and food quality could certainly use some work in this country. Again, this makes twice in a week, we pick up our carry out only to find multiple items wrong or missing. How hard is it to put the food in a bag that is on the receipt attached to the bag. Jim N Nicks does good BBQ just not good service. Food came out wrong, went back in to add another pound of BBQ to the order but took nearly 30 minutes of sitting in the parking lot waiting. Food that is made 12 hours in advance and is just sitting staying warm!! It's BBQ . Good food but service and attention to detail needs work.

Rachel K.

Yelp
Now this place right here.......is a friggin keeper my friends!! Half smoked chicken plate with sides and cheese corn biscuits???? Yea , all amazing The chicken, juicy and tender through and through even the breast. The biscuits that Come out when you sit down, killer. The corn in the cob, covered in spice and the white BBQ sauce?????? My favorite item on the plate! Get the white bbq sauce people, and speaking from someone here from Ohio, never had white bbq sauce before but will probably buy a bottle from here if I can. Also the collared greens were on point as well. The leaves had a nice crunch with hunks of pork swimming around in there too.

Kate W.

Yelp
I have always loved Jim& Nicks . So disappointed tonight when I opened my pound of pulled pork to find in the center a 2 7/8 ounces of slimmy skin ..

Chuck S.

Yelp
Great Food & service. We usually get carry out & it is packed very well.Baby Back Ribs

Cindy W.

Yelp
Great bbq - loved the sauce and the meat. Very generous portions of meat and fries. We were all stuffed! Delicious mini corn muffins with your meal too.

Beverly Q.

Yelp
New set up is terrible. You pay for your order going in and are prompted to pay a tip BEFORE you are served. Side portions are smaller. You are CHARGED for extra rolls. You have to get your own drinks. Prices are higher for EVERYTHING! NEVER going back. Ever.

Sunny W.

Yelp
My brother and I went while in town and it was great! Brisket was awesome. Friendly service. Great decor. Recommend

Kate W.

Yelp
I have enjoyed Jim N Nicks drive thru for several years but am so disappointed with the fast food order set up inside the restaurant. A few of us come in to to enjoy a relaxing FULL Service restaurant experience . We ended up leaving without eating and went to a different place after waiting in line to place an order . I understand staff may be hard to find but in my opinion having guests standing at a counter to place an order and fill their own drinks is a fast food restaurant and should be labeled as a fast food restaurant with the prices to match. I am curious if you expect patrons to tip . So disappointed

Audra L.

Yelp
Had a great meal at this BBQ place a couple days ago. The smoked chicken was on point and the white BBQ sauce was really tasty. Definitely worth a visit!

Dustin C.

Yelp
I guess being self serve means no one ever has to check on you when your there. Had to get my own drink, silverware, salt and pepper, and to go boxes. If you don't want to serve people close the dining room and be drive through only.

Adena H.

Yelp
This location has changed to ordering as you enter the restaurant. You do not order at the table anymore. You get your own drink. There is no server. Only a food runner. We ran out of napkins and had to get paper towels from the bathroom. Food was good as usual but the service was non-existent. No server. No station to get sauce or napkins. Not sure why they asked for a tip. And it was requested before we even got the no-service. Felt like Burger King. Unimpressed. 4 stars for the food. 1 star for the rest.

William W.

Yelp
That smoker churning out delicious smells at Jim 'N Nick's might be wonderful, but not all barbecue is created equally. The restaurant chain located in the heart of pulled pork country has been merely average on my every visit, never extraordinary. When you've eaten brisket in Texas, or even at local favorites like Martin's or Edley's, you set a certain gold standard for your palate that's tough to measure up to for other establishments. And the brisket at any Jim 'N Nick's location is simply substandard. The flavor is not right, even though the tenderness is. In Tennessee and North Carolina, you'd better get your pulled pork right, just like brisket in Texas, or the ribs in Memphis and Kansas City. But again, the texture of the pork is there, the flavor is not. It's just not good barbecue. It's only passable. The bread is pretty good, the sides are okay, but you'd be better off finding another local spot for much better meat. There are many to choose from.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Awesome Chili!!! We will be back for more. Haven't had other dishes yet but the chili was amazing!

Emily H.

Yelp
We were in Franklin on Easter Sunday and not easily finding a restaurant we all wanted to eat at that was actually open and not overrun with reservations. My husband suggested Jim 'N Nick's after hearing some great things from friends of ours. And it was ... OK. Yep, just OK. This wasn't the best or worst BBQ place I've eaten at. For the most part, there wasn't a ton to brag about besides it being a filling lunch. Upon arriving, the five of us were shown to a booth. We started with some of the cheese biscuits, which were the best part of the meal. These small biscuits are full of cheesy flavor. When you go, be sure to request these. For my entree, I got the Pig on a Bun, Jim 'N Nick's pulled pork sandwich, with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese for my sides. This pork was ... fine. It didn't have a ton of flavor, but seemed to be pulled from good pieces of pork. The sauce was pretty average BBQ sauce as well. The serving size was large, though, so while the meals weren't very remarkable, we all left full after not spending a ton. And I will say that I appreciate the fact that the server allowed us to substitute chicken for the pork slider on the kid's menu for the kid in our group. She enjoyed her meal. Would I go back? Maybe, if everyone else in my group really wanted to. But I'm not going to go out of my way to seek it out.

Tanisha K.

Yelp
It's 4th of July during COVID and this place satisfied my whole family! Food was delicious and I wish I could have a Jim & Nick's in Maryland!! *hint hint Service was amazing! It has been awhile since I've enjoyed myself at a restaurant and I have no regrets!!

A L.

Yelp
Omgosh what happened to this place ! How did they manage to serve is a cold baked potato's ! When We moved to Franklin this was a regular restaurant ! You sat down they took your order they brought your food ! Now you stand in line to order and they give you an electronic device but they don't seem to work & the numbers don't line up they brought 2 orders out that were not ours and couldn't figure it out whose was whose ! It's all young teens working there -it used to be a bit better than Buffalo Wild Wings as far as service ! It's like unrecognizable now - the place was filthy ! I know everywhere is short handed but the girl that took our order was very unpleasant not like not personable literally unpleasant ! I'm not going there anymore !

Ron B.

Yelp
Dined in this evening and there is a new format, you order your dine in meal, pay and tip before you get anything. You get you own drink and find a table with a buzzer to allow the runners where the food is to go. This system does not work! Food is good as usual but this new arrangement is not what You would expect dining out. We have been 20 year customers but will not visit again until this is changed. Sad! Thanks

Elli Grey S.

Yelp
love the food, chicken and bbq is so good. good service and convenient. great quick family dinner.

Jon S.

Yelp
A few years ago we moved from the middle TN area. Finally able to travel back, we decided to stop by what had been one of our favorite local chains. This was not a good trip. Our server was very nice and attentive, nothing negative was due to her. The muffins were still delicious, no blame on them either. I had a brisket sandwich and it was nearly inedible. It was almost all fat, nearly no meat. The bun was also not very good. My wife had a baked potato that was seriously over cooked, dry and hard. Her brisket on top was as bad as my sandwich. The pork sandwich one of the kids had also suffered from being all fat, almost no meat. The sweet tea several at table had was soured. I hate to leave a bad review but seeing a spot we'd had so many solid meals at have such a bad showing, needed noting. Recent reviews seem to be trending solidly in the negative direction as well. If you are in the Cool Springs area and have a desire for some BBQ I'd suggest you perhaps explore other options.

Dez K.

Yelp
Well, I've said it a lot in my BBQ trials, "best barbecue I've ever had." But... nothing has come close to this place. I am officially wowed for life with this one. Amazing barbecue and ALL the sides are incredibly delicious as well. Doesn't get better than this, I fear... VERY happy camper. Will definitely be back!

Troy W.

Yelp
I guess being from KC and living in Houston for seven years may have something to do with this review. Being around outstanding BBQ most of my life has my palate spoiled. On a day that I had a hankering for good BBQ, wandered into this establishment. I looked at the menu to find the sausage and none on the menu. Seriously? You gonna call yourself a BBQ restaurant and no sausage. I ordered the Turkey and Ribs. The Turkey was good and juicy but didn't really have the smoky flavor I was hoping for. The ribs were embarrassing. No meat and little bark. Just fatty and grissley pork. I paid extra to get the ribs too! I saw a sign walking in that they were advertising a full rack of these so called ribs and two sides for 34 dollars. Good grief man. I'd keep clear if this place. BBQ is too expensive to gamble here.

Benjamin R.

Yelp
Was in town for some training nearby and stopped off at this location for some BBQ. All in all it wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. The service was ok, and the food was fine. The place was nice and clean however which is always a plus.

Matt G.

Yelp
Mixed review but still gave 5 stars. Brisket sandwich ordered lean received mostly bark, no pickles. Lots of chewing. Deviled eggs, potato salad, and baked beans seem to all share the same sweet seasoning. Potato salad was mashed. Interesting variation. Eggs were good. I'd order those again. The potato salad was kind of sweet and the beans were sweet. I get it, it's a bbq joint, sugar goes in lots of things, but man that whole meal was sweet. Need something to balance it out.

Keith H.

Yelp
This place has great BBQ. Today I decided to change it up and I ordered their ribeye steak with baked potato and side salad. I am sad to say that they need to stick with just BBQ items. The meat had no seasoning on it and the flavor was nothing. The other bad thing was it was a very fatty piece of meat. I eat ribeye a lot, I know how they should be marbles and outlined with a fat cut. But really all the way thru it, It was just a bad cut and on top of it it had no taste. Not even a nice wood flavor from off the grill. It was bland and I was very sad to have had it. The only saving grace was their cheesy corn muffins and their sweet tea. Again I wish they would stick to BBQ meats versus having this item in their menu. Not a good choice for anyone coming in to eat.

Josh D.

Yelp
Food is still ok. I grew up around the original location and enjoyed the food for a couple decades....and things have definitely changed. This was my favorite restaurant for a number of years, but it is going down hill. Becoming more fast-food like. Ordering at a counter...food is ok but the environment and service are in the tank. I sure they blame Covid.

Dana A.

Yelp
Food is delicious and flavorful. Our family loves to grab a bite when we're in the neighborhood.

Arsalan N.

Yelp
Visiting Nashville on business and had dinner at this place . Best beef brisket I have ever had . And I have had brisket from all over Texas California and South Carolina .Onion rings were really good too
