Amazing park- beautiful tribute to Jimi! Reason for 4 stars is once we got close to Jimi’s face, in the left corner was a ginormous pile of HUMAN crap. Literally almost vomited! What is wrong with people?! It’s not a public restroom!

Today, September 28, the 2018th Feast of Meskel was beautifully celebrated at Jimi Hendrix Park in Seattle. A joyful and colorful ceremony with a vibrant community atmosphere! The park was a wonderful location for such a cultural and spiritual event. 08/12/23: it is a very cool and spacious park. Its center is African American Museum. Surrounding this park, you can find trails connecting to Sam Smith Park and some play fields. I visited at 9 am so it did not get much crowded. I felt relaxed and comfortable after visiting this awesome park. Highly recommended

Google
This park is named after Jimi?! Automatic 5 stars; there really is no other option... In all seriousness it's a cute little park that connects to other parks and the city's bike path network including the trail to Mercer Island, Bellevue and beyond.

Attended the Juneteenth 2024 celebration. Great space to gather with community, wonderful food by local small businesses, and family friendly activities. I will return next year!

We went there for the Juneteenth party. It eas packed with people and positive energy to celebrate freedom and equality. I am so happy Seattle has such a venue/park and I live right there. :)

Fun little park dedicated to the Seattle legend: Jimi Hendrix. This place is overloaded with lyrics & plaques for the music icon. Winding walk paths are clean, & have metal strips with engraved facts. See pics for some of the sculptures & "going green" nodes throughout the park. A small soccer field is located nearby. Parking is abundant (kinda surprised this park wasn't full of people). Check it out! 5★s

This park surrounds the Northwest African American Museum. There's a colorful pavilion in the center of the lawn off the entrance to the museum, which has a limited wall display about Hendrix inside. I enjoyed an outdoor mural of Jimi, which announced a butterfly garden in his honor. There are also lyrics to a couple of Hendrix tunes inscribed in the colored concrete bordering the pavilion and connecting walkway. The bicycle and walking trail is nice and other than the mural, wall display, gift shop, and sidewalk lyrics, there's nothing else about Jimi. Jimi did grow up in this part of town, so the park was named for him. It's still a great place to visit, get some exercise, fresh air, and view the art, along with historical exhibits in the museum.

Yelp
It was nice to take pics near the moments but not much else to check it. Definitely go the African museum at the old school tho!

Yelp
A cool park to visit and view some sculptures and history about Jimi Hendrix. One of the walkways has the lyrics to 'Little Wing' lettered out throughout the walkway. Also a nice bio swale near the parking lot. Parking wasn't an issue on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Basketball courts were busy, lots of open space for dogs and picnics as well. Great if you're in the area and have an interest in Jimi Hendrix and his music. Cheers!

Yelp
Cool place for sure - but not quite sure what the relevance of it was to be honest. It does not seem to be any particular Jimi Hendrix historic location - but nonetheless its "Jimi Hendrix" park. It consist of a walkway with some of Jimi's Lyrics on the ground along the way and some metal sculptures - including a metal sculpture wall with Jimi's face in it. There were several folks walking their dog in the park as it seem to be a good spot for that. It is seated in the middle of a neighborhood area - so that makes sense. For a tourist stoping here, it was OK and a brief look around.....but if I was a local I could see walking the park It would hav been nice if the park had a little better upkeep - that's not to say it wasn't taken care of - but there did appear to be some issues like vandalism

Yelp
As far as a park goes, this is a 3 Stars park, probably less to be honest. If you're die hard Jimi Hendrix fan that goes giddy for anything Jimi Hendrix, it is a solid 4 Stars. Either way, other than a few notable pieces, it's a fairly basic neighborhood park that is adjacent to the Northwest African American Museum (which as of this writing has not re-open since COVID closure). It's worth stopping by if you're already in the area. Probably not worth driving all the way here only for this. Other than a few photo ops, there is limited to see. Because it's a neighborhood park also, the first time we swing by, there was an event going on and very crowded. We opted to drive away and return a second time. The things to look for: - The big "Shadow Wave Wall" - the most prominent piece. Can't miss it. - The "Little Wing" that is a shelter. Can't miss this either. - The purple guitars by the parking lot - Art work, Mural painted on electrical controls - Signature by the steps - Text carved into the ground - lyrics from songs Also note that currently there's a small tent population front of the museum, full disclosure oversharing only, in case you have any concerns. They are NOT in the way of visiting the park.

Yelp
A nice open park. There are statues in honor of Jimi Hendrix. There's a fun butterfly and bees garden. As you walk around, check out the lyrics written on the walkway as well as fun facts about Hendrix. There's plenty of space to walk, run, ride a bike, or play some catch.

Yelp
I was disappointed by this park. I'm a big Jimi Hendrix aficionado, and the name of the park caused me to drive over here only to be deflated at how blah it is. If you're looking for Jimi Hendrix related Americana, this is not for you. It seems like an ordinary neighborhood park. If you live in the area, I'm happy that you have a nice, plain, stretch of grass to walk through. If you're a tourist, there really is no reason to go here.

Yelp
Broad lawn next to the Northwest African-American Museum, honoring the Seattle-native rock star. Nice park. Jimi Hendrix Park is a 2.3-acre park named in honor of musician Jimi Hendrix, who was from Seattle. The park, located adjacent to the Northwest African American Museum in Seattle's Central District at 2400 S. Massachusetts St Recently completed construction at the park includes a central shelter described as "a soaring sculpture reminiscent of butterfly wings" as well as a sculpture dubbed a "shadow wave wall." A walkway laid out toward the park's central plaza doubles as a timeline of Hendrix's life, with lyrics from his songs "Little Wing" and "Angel" etched into a purple ribbon pictured along the way, and natural attractions include four rain gardens and a butterfly garden. About Jimi Hendrix Park: Inspired by the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix, the park, named in his honor, will beautify Seattle, motivate youth and others to achieve in music and art, and strengthen the cultural pulse of the Emerald City, Jimi Hendrix's hometown. Jimi Hendrix Park is located in the heart of Seattle's vibrant Central District (2400 South Massachusetts Street), a thriving multi-cultural community rich in heritage. Nestled adjacent to the Northwest African American Museum and grounds of former Colman School, Jimi Hendrix Park will be a primary focal point for multi-cultural events, gatherings, and activities for the community.

Yelp
Car will get broken into, or your catalytic converter will get cut out. Junkies will harass you, knocking/banging on your window. Cursing at you for not giving them money or a ride. Not safe.

Yelp
Are You Experienced?   A walk through the Jimi Hendrix park, paying homage to Seattle's own son, and the answer will likely be "yes."     The guitar shaped park is a truly beautiful experience, from Jimi's artistic, purple signature, on to the six stools which represent the tuning knobs. Next, the neck is the pathway of his journey, with each fret serving as a marker of every highlight of his life and career.  The experience continues with the lyrics of Angel and Little Wing engraved along the side of the walkway, like the yellow brick road, leading to the body of the guitar blooms. Here, the outdoor instrument blooms like a flower with a wing sheltered amphitheater, its unique shape becoming a waterfall when it rains. Butterfly gardens, rain gardens and cedars guard the park, as nature joins in the tribute.  The crown jewel of the park is about 100 feet long and 40 feet high, reflecting Jimi's larger than life persona, with his face and shadows in a stunning magical display, called the Shadow Wave Wall.  Even the utility boxes are painted with images of Jimi in concert.   Jimi referred to himself as, "The Westcoast Seattle Boy."  Growing up in what is known as the Central District of Seattle molded him into the greatest guitarist in the world.  And here in this place dedicated to his life and artistic legacy, the presence of his musical vibe can be felt. Off on the horizon, Mount Rainier can be seen, snowcapped and as majestic now as it was when Jimi was growing up in the Emerald City.     The Jimi Hendrix Park welcomes people of all ages, cultures and beliefs, just as he did when he performed his music.  He offered a safe place in his songs, where any and everyone was allowed to be himself or herself.  The Jimi Hendrix Park offers the same.     Are you Experienced?  Ask yourself as you experience the park and maybe play the song, during your stroll.  Again...the answer will likely be "yes."   Are You Experienced? If you can just get your mind together Then come on across to me We'll hold hands and then we'll watch the sun rise From the bottom of the sea   Are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have   Well, I know, I know you'll probably scream and cry That your little world won't let you go But who in your measly little world are trying to prove? That you're made out of gold and -a can't be sold   So, are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have Ah, let me prove it to you   Hooray, I awake from yesterday Alive but the war is here to stay So, my darling and me Decide to take our last walk through the noise to the sea Not to die but to be reborn Away from lands so battered and torn Forever   So, you see it's really such a mess Every inch of earth is a fighting nest Giant pencil and lipstick-tube shaped things Continue to rain and cause screamin' pain And the arctic stains from silver blue to bloody red As our feet find the sand And the sea is straight ahead Straight ahead Straight ahead   Trumpets and violins, I hear in the distance I think they're calling our names Maybe now you can't hear them, but you will, you will If you just take hold of my hand   Are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have   Not necessarily stoned But beautiful

Yelp
So much work here at JIMI HENDRIX Park to begin with a plan for a number of things to see and hear of one first event starting for 2012, September 18th will this day be special for all who attend to experience live music and visit with representatives of the Jimi Hendrix Foundation and purchase these nice t-shirts!Also- KISW-FM, the new park staff, on-stage with Randy Hansen, Leon Hendrix and a line-up of opening music artists that take part in the entire affair. Proceeds will go to the park and foundation. Parking is limited sometimes and notice the best thing to bring is picnic items that families can enjoy. Online postings showed 2300 S. Massachussetts St. or supposed to be 2400? Confused? Happy families and music lovers always welcome but, no firearms, harmful behavior is prohibited at these events. As Jimi Hendrix would say, Peace! Many will miss Jimi Hendrix who died September 18, 1970.
