"Friendly cafe and roastery Jimmy Beans is a quaint and cozy retreat for caffeine, carbs, and escapism. There are six seats seats inside and customers are asked to keep their visit to two hours." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam

Loved chilling here drinking coffee. Will be back. Charged my phone. Comfortable couch. Funky painted bathroom. Good vibes. Will be back!

Jimmy is the best! My partner and I have been going there since we moved to Logan Square, and we love the coffee! Today when we tried to get coffee, they were unfortunately closed. Jimmy was so kind and gave us a bag of beans to make up for our driving out, which he definitely did not have to do! Such a kind soul. Love Jimmy Beans! :)

Cute little local coffee shop. Coffees were delicious! Pastries were picked over by the time we arrived and were just OK. I would definitely go back for the coffee!

This place is such a gem! Great coffee, friendly barista and the seating in the gallery upstairs really won me over. If you like spicy drinks I definitely recommend to try their specialty - Coconut Kick (latte + coconut syrup + pepper). It was just the right level of spiciness!

Google
This is place is a total GEM. If you’re looking for a cozy cafe in Chicago to pass the time, enjoy a great cup of Joe, or just work on your laptop for the day, Jimmy Beans is the spot. The interior offers a calm ambience and respite from the business of Fullerton Avenue—baristas cultivate an inviting playlist that makes you feel welcome to lounge on the couch and sip your brew. I found myself being extremely productive on the computer after I ordered a hot coffee followed by an iced herbal tea. They’re in-house roasting program offers elevated coffee quality. I highly recommend their “Tropic Blend” 10/10. I wish more cafes were as welcoming as Jimmy Beans!

Google
I really liked Jimmy Beans coffee, I was visiting some friends in the neighborhood and stopped in. The owner Jimmy was there at the time, and was a pleasure to talk with. He roast the beans right in the store, wow, I only saw that many years ago in a small coffee store in Evanston, IL which is not in business anymore. The ombiance was eclectic with a eastern zen type vibe. Now the coffee was so good I ordered a hot coffee, which was very good not burnt in taste. Jimmy also gave a sample of his nitro brew on tap, it had quite the zing. I left so impressed and would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Google
Great local coffee shop - very friendly owner who supports the local community in a big way!

Google
I really love their coffee! The quality is great and they roast their beans right there!

Yelp
Found this place on my way up north of Chicago. It's such a cute little place. The guy was very cool who helped us and he even tried making my drink similar to the one I get from Starbucks with was extremely kind of him. They had their own coffee and a story behind it all (you'll see in my pictures) which was super cool.

Genna G.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop with delicious coffees and lattes. Wish they had some sugar free syrup options but other than that no complaints. Snag a couch up front or one of the 2 tables in the back to enjoy your drinks.

Jim H.

Yelp
The specialty drinks are very tasty. They're regular coffee on drip or pour over are well-balanced with good tasting notes. You can tell that they are asmall batch type of roaster.

Yelp
Roasted: found this place in Logan. Super cute coffee shop with ample indoor seating including an upstairs area. They did ask for vax card to dine in which is good. Incredible friendly barista - probably the nicest barista I've interacted with in Chicago. They don't offer sugar free flavors but have a decent variety to choose from including local bakery items. We asked for here and still got paper cups even though they had ceramic ones available. No latte art and the latte was a bit foamy for my taste. I wasn't a fan of the latte as the espresso sat way too long before being used so it got the burnt espresso taste. I'd come back for the vibe and friendliness and id try the coffee again even though it is not my favorite. **We actually disagree on the rating. I'd give it a 2 not a 3 solely for the burnt espresso.** Unroasted: this place has been on my radar for awhile now. I Love doing local coffee shops near home. Its located on Fullerton Ave where the parking does can be tough but if your in the heart of Logan it's walkable. The barista greeted as we walked even though she was busy attending others. This place is open to patrons if you have your vax card on you. Love the view of the roaster on the back of the shop. Two tables in the back and a second space upstairs. The barista was awesome and friendly and made you feel welcome. No sugar free options available which is a bummer. Pastries are from a local bakery and all look delicious. Get the croissant it awesome! My latte was pretty good after adding two stevias. Much better than the last few reviews. If you're in the hood stop in and give it a try. I recommend!

Yelp
Jimmy Beans is my got to coffee spot in Logan Square. Part of that is proximity to my apartment, but they are solid. The staff remembers me, they have great coffee, and they have some nice pastries and breakfast/lunch options. I buy my beans there for making coffee at home also, it's a little pricey all around but I like supporting local and like I said it's convenient. They only have one person working so it can be a little wait if it gets busy. They've got a few seats inside and out + WiFi.

Isaly G.

Yelp
thinking about this place today SO GOOD!! hidden gem in my opinion. the inside of this place makes me feel like a cartoon character PLUS they have punch cards awesomeeee. i got a matcha somethin i forget but it's perf to do your work in and the baristas are nice too. i came here during my spring break and it was very warm and sweet, my only quarrel with jimmy bean is that they close too earlyyyy cmon now!!

Sara R.

Yelp
There is no joy like absolutely delicious coffee. Get yours here! Friendly people, great location, excellent product. Nothing else to see here!

Ari L.

Yelp
This stretch of Fullerton was desperately in need of a local coffee shop. So thats the positive. But the coffee is really average. They roast their own, and its not to my taste. There are much better options if you are willing to walk a bit further. They food selection is equally unimpressive. I was there today and they had a variety of donuts at $2.50 a pop. I got one free for checking in on Yelp. The donut was also average, and at that price i'd rather walk 25 feet to the Dunkin Donuts down the street and get a donut for $1. The shop itself has very little charm. Its not somewhere you would want to hang out for long. Its tight and has very little appeal. They do have a table for kids though, so thats a plus. They also have additional seating on the second floor in a gallery of some sorts. I clearly didn't love the place, but the staff was friendly and they are clearly trying to fill a need for the neighborhood, so they get points for that. Hopefully this place gets better over time (maybe change how they roast their coffee, give the space a little makeover, find better donuts, etc).

Yelp
I'm sitting here right now typing this review and I honestly feel like I am in someone's house being served BOTTOMLESS COFFEE. Yes, the photos tagged in other posts are real. Jimmy Beans is amazingly chill without doing too much. It's literally a home with the furniture and simple lighting. The place is well organized and clean. I also paid $4.50 for all the coffee I can drink. Make sure to bring a book or some work if you decide to make the most of this! There isn't much more to say about this place other than I really like the simplicity and homeyness here.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Love this place. Total hole in the wall, but some of the best (and strongest) coffee in the city. I typically order the nitro. It's crazy smooth and is loaded with caffeine. I'm a caffeine addict and it's the only cup of coffee I've found that still has a pick me up in it. Plus it tastes great. Highly encourage a stop in. They sell food but all outsourced, so have never ordered

Ralph P.

Yelp
Beautiful place! Delicious coffee, made by a professional team. Plus, there is an artistic interior design! Beautiful walls create a pleasant atmosphere! I recommend!

Jenna S.

Yelp
I've been coming here at least once a week for a little over a year and I'm always happy with the coffee, the service, and the space. The coffee: OK, I'm not a coffee connoisseur so I'm not really sure I know one roast from another. The roasters here take their jobs seriously and I know a few of them personally so I have confidence that whatever they're doing is tasty. I just really like coffee - but since I add milk and sweetener I don't really know what is going on with the taste of different roasts. That said, I always enjoy my bottomless cup of coffee and their lattes are delicious. They make different seasonal concoctions and I've even been able to try a few in the testing phases - delicious and they'll accept feedback. The nitro is yummy and they'll make most of their drinks iced or hot. There's a standard selection of coffee house caffeine, including tea, so you're set there. The service: I love everyone who works here. I've gotten to know Jim (titular owner) and the lovely baristas who work during the week. Everyone is friendly, talkative, and they are happy to chat coffee or whatever. I like sitting around here and chatting with the baristas, patrons, or whomever stops by. Jim also organizes some jazz brunches with an omelette station that is super yummy and also a fun way to meet people around the community. Events are almost always family-friendly and engaging with the community is always encouraged. The space: Love this space. The upstairs seating area is lovely. It's well-lit, bathed in sunlight (when it's not cloudy here in Chicago), and very inviting. There's a variety of seating options and it's a great place to just sit and work. The upstairs has a really great, homey feel and there's even an outdoor patio off the back where you can sit and bask in the sun in the summer. The downstairs seating area is fairly large and offers a couple of options for table or couch, depending on what you feel like. There's a few high-top tables in the back and there's always a few people just working or chatting. Wifi is free and there's several areas to charge electronics if you need. Overall, a great addition to a stretch of Fullerton that has a bit going on but could stand more local storefront businesses. Jimmy's offers a good space to work, meet, have good coffee, and engage with the community. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop with homey vibes. Loved the indoor decor. Barista was super friendly. Printing available as well which is a plus! Definitely would recommend checking this place out!!

Monica M.

Yelp
Got the caramel and lavender lattes which were really good! Barista was really friendly and helpful with our order :) will be back soon!

Brenna G.

Yelp
The coffee is good, food is a little disappointing. It's a cute space with a gallery upstairs. The coffee was good, but was served to us in disposable cups. The donuts were good, but not at the level of Stan's or something like that. The sandwiches and quiches are not fresh and stored in a drink cooler and they were already out of breakfast sandwiches by 9am. Overall it's a good place to stop and get coffee but I would skip food.

Amelia N.

Yelp
We had Tasty and reasonably priced drinks made by Georgie the manager, fresh delicious doughnuts, a lovely little neighborhood gem w/a beautiful art gallery upstairs, can't beat this spot! There's free street parking on the residential streets perpendicular to Fullerton too.

Jessica P.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop! I miss Jamie, my favorite barista, but everyone else is nice too. Before the pandemic this was a nice place to hang out (the upstairs was huge and well lit!). With the pandemic they had markers on the floor where to stand which made directing customers easy to figure out.

April W.

Yelp
What an interesting little coffee shop! I don't frequent this neighborhood often but came to Jimmy Beans for a painting class that was hosted on the second floor. I picked up some coffee and a doughnut before the class and enjoyed both. The baristas were both friendly and the environment feels very relaxed. There's also great artwork and photography throughout the shop. Definitely worth checking out for your caffeine fix and to support local businesses.

Brandon F.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop! Very cozy atmosphere, delicious and reasonably priced coffee, friendly baristas...what else could you ask for?! Fritz, the friendly Barista who is usually there in the morning, is always so amiable and easy to talk to in the morning when I stop by for a fresh cup of joe. This is my new favorite coffee spot in the neighborhood, definitely go check it out!!

Anja R.

Yelp
I agree with the other guys. Jimmy's beans are great. I'm just sipping delicious Ethiopia coffee. Intense flavor. Lightly roasted with nice fruity aroma and some chocolate accent. The guy over the counter makes everybody feel very comfortable. If you like west coast coffee quality and vibe- Jimmy Beans is the place for you.

James L.

Yelp
Great Coffee sure glad I stopped. If you live in Logan Park it has to be your go to place. Just make it easier to park would ya?

Lex J.

Yelp
Happened to find this place on a whim and I'm so glad I did! I had my first nitro cold brew here and definitely enjoyed it. The Ethiopian coffee was great as well. Also, the coffee shop itself is pretty sweet. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The upstairs lounge has some cool couches that are have coffee sack upholstery and there's also a little roof patio. Last but not least, the folks running the place are wonderful and really made the few visits really enjoyable. 100% recommend stopping by.

Mark S.

Yelp
Love the new staff here. So friendly! I have been coming since May and the Batistas now compared to then are night and day. Everyone here loves their job and it shows. Thanks Jimmy!

Marquez B.

Yelp
Was just recently at Jimmy Beans Coffee shop. I was hounded and to the upmost disrespected by a person of the said establishment and lack of a business because I only purchased a water and not coffee. The exchange went as follows...she approached the table asking can she help me purchase something I told her that I already purchased a bottle of water. She said you are just going sit here and use our internet and only purchase water this a coffee shop not a water shop. Patrons were standing all around the shop, talk about belittling a patron. She then walked away mumbling something...Truly a Trump of a business. Please make adequate purchases of great value at this establishment or you will be ask to purchase more. Seems to be some financial troubles happening here...

Matt G.

Yelp
Jimmy Beans is a brand new cafe and nano-sized coffee roaster, they roast beans in small batches on-site, and serve a rotating selection of 10 different varieties. They sell beans to-go, and if you're so inclined with the DIY spirit, they also sell fresh beans and small home roasters. I had the Guatemalan which was very rich with an unsweetened dark chocolate flavor. The coffee is unique from your usual corporate stuff, and the rotating small batches keep it interesting. The space itself is very cosy, with an eclectic artsy flair. In the back there are murals by local artist Sick Fisher, a corner couch, and the large coffee roaster to one side. Various art by local artists adorn the front walls. I was told the upstairs is gallery & lounge, that doubles as an event space. The coffee counter is on the right when you walk in, with various goodies by local baker, Baker Miller. Prices and sizes are listed on the menu chalkboard. I also got a free sample of the nitro cold brew coffee on tap, which was very good. This is a great new local spot, i'm glad they're in the neighborhood!

Ginny P.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood. Sweet baristas, great in-house roasted coffee, amazing manager who is always welcoming and kind, and the owner is genuinely a great guy! Kudos to Jimmie Beans!!

Marissa A.

Yelp
My go to place in the neighborhood! They're always so sweet and accommodating. Great staff who are always warm and welcoming as well as DELICIOUS coffee. I buy freshly ground for home and constantly snag a drink on the go. The cold brew definitely packs a punch!

Kevin D.

Yelp
What a great place. Very friendly staff and new food items are very good. *Parents* ...Many kids activities here for colder months ahead. Storytelling for kids upstairs first Saturday of every month. Highly recommended.

Nicci D.

Yelp
Fabulous local coffee roaster and cafe! The staff is excellent, they have events and art shows. Amazing coffee!!! Even juice boxes and milk for kids.

Patrick A.

Yelp
I stopped by Jimmy Beans out of necessity. They have a service there that lets you uplod and print documents directly from your phone or computer and I needed to print something quickly. I walked inside and was immediately blown away by the collection of antique items and unique decorations! I am a sucker for old pianos and they have one directly across from the registers. There is ample seating and its not just wood chairs! They have funky furniture that looked super comfy; couches, lounge chairs, etc. The vibe there is very hip and cool, the clientele were mostly busy working on thier laptops abd catching up woth friends, the kind of chill atmosphere where you arent trying to talk over loud music or would be easily distracted by the hubub of coffee making. I ordered an Americano and it was delicious! But even better was the quality of the barista and his helpfulness when I had questions about the printing service that brought me there in the first place (PRO TIP: You can use Paypal to print) and I will certainly be back because of his quality service. Other Logan Square coffee shops often make you feel like a burden for showing up, many have bad attitudes, NO FROWNS AT JIMMY BEANS! I can't believe it took me so long to try!

Jay S.

Yelp
What a great selection of coffee. Finally a place that knows coffee! The owner Jim is a real knowledgeable guy and you can tell immediately when he offers to make you 10 different selections of fresh beans.

Cara L.

Yelp
I love this local coffee joint. They are super accommodating (one barista even came outside to me when I was debating how to tie up my dog to grab my daily dose of coffee), and the atmosphere is great. I much prefer supporting places like this compared to larger coffee chains. Roasted in house, too!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Staff is very personable and they have excellent tea & baked goods. A lot of gluten free super yummy things, which is an extra nice surprise. They have a gallery & back deck as well now, which is an awesome retreat! Quiet, beautiful, outside & free wifi! This is what I would call a genuine chicago cafe experience.

Alex A.

Yelp
Great coffee, nice ambiance. The coffee is freshly roasted on site, now that's not something you would expect from a small locally owned cafe. And it's good! I just wish they were open later.

Christina K.

Yelp
Jimmy beans is a great neighborhood coffee shop. The coffee is amazing and they also have nitro coffee. The employees are friendly and nice. Support local check out jimmy beans you will not regret it.

Carmen C.

Yelp
Best coffee shop in the neighborhood! The baristas are so welcoming! Great events and beautiful art!

Paige L.

Yelp
I would love to support this local cafe however it's just so expensive; I don't go unless I'm in desperate need. The coffee is good, not great.

Miranda K.

Yelp
Jimmy Beans is the beans knees! Real cozy and casual environment - no sterile, pretentious coffee shop vibes here. They've got a variety of coffee (as well as non-caffeinated beverages) and lots of pastries, granola bars, oatmeal, etc. Very family friendly so bring your kids and your mom and your mom's kids. Friendly staff, free wifi, the works!! Plus, damn good coffee.

Matt L.

Yelp
A Logan Square hidden gem! Coffee shops in the area are a dime a dozen, but Jimmy Beans definitely stands out. Premium coffee in a cozy environment with warm service. It doesn't matter if you deal with Jimmy, Fritz, Karen or Matt, you're going to get great service with a smile. Some of the other shops in the area tend to have their "noses up in the air". Jimmy Beans has great coffee (roasted on-site), but they still have their feet on the ground.

William S.

Yelp
I have to drink decaf, which for the typical coffee shop is... okay. But they served me the best decaf latte I've ever had.

Mariah H.

Yelp
I tried to rent the space above their coffee shop for a birthday gathering.. I communicated with them, visited the space and when it was time to book they did not return my emails, phone call or voicemail. Very unprofessional. Don't host an event here, you'll be wasting your time.

Kelsey G.

Yelp
A great New spot in the neighborhood! I absolutely love that they have community events like blues dances and art shows. Can't wait to come back!

K. S J.

Yelp
I haven't taken advantage of this place nearly enough times but every time I've been in I have had a great experience. The coffee is always good, they have a variety of pastries to choose from (depending on the time of day it could be rather sparse) and the staff is friendly. My husband was given a free latte after going a little crazy with purchasing pasties which was a nice surprise. I will definitely consider jimmy beans first when I'm looking to get my caffeine jolt for the day.

Seth P.

Yelp
Great place, great coffee, great baristas... but if I have to leave again because of loud children, I won't be back.
