I've been coming here at least once a week for a little over a year and I'm always happy with the coffee, the service, and the space.
The coffee:
OK, I'm not a coffee connoisseur so I'm not really sure I know one roast from another. The roasters here take their jobs seriously and I know a few of them personally so I have confidence that whatever they're doing is tasty. I just really like coffee - but since I add milk and sweetener I don't really know what is going on with the taste of different roasts. That said, I always enjoy my bottomless cup of coffee and their lattes are delicious. They make different seasonal concoctions and I've even been able to try a few in the testing phases - delicious and they'll accept feedback. The nitro is yummy and they'll make most of their drinks iced or hot. There's a standard selection of coffee house caffeine, including tea, so you're set there.
The service:
I love everyone who works here. I've gotten to know Jim (titular owner) and the lovely baristas who work during the week. Everyone is friendly, talkative, and they are happy to chat coffee or whatever. I like sitting around here and chatting with the baristas, patrons, or whomever stops by. Jim also organizes some jazz brunches with an omelette station that is super yummy and also a fun way to meet people around the community. Events are almost always family-friendly and engaging with the community is always encouraged.
The space:
Love this space. The upstairs seating area is lovely. It's well-lit, bathed in sunlight (when it's not cloudy here in Chicago), and very inviting. There's a variety of seating options and it's a great place to just sit and work. The upstairs has a really great, homey feel and there's even an outdoor patio off the back where you can sit and bask in the sun in the summer. The downstairs seating area is fairly large and offers a couple of options for table or couch, depending on what you feel like. There's a few high-top tables in the back and there's always a few people just working or chatting. Wifi is free and there's several areas to charge electronics if you need.
Overall, a great addition to a stretch of Fullerton that has a bit going on but could stand more local storefront businesses. Jimmy's offers a good space to work, meet, have good coffee, and engage with the community. Highly recommend.
