Don’t get me wrong. The food is just fine here. Nothing amazing. Nothing horrible but with so many Mexican food restaurants in the area there is no way I would wait for a table here. Had the fried avocado with chicken. Was ok. The avocado wasn’t really ready so it lacked some flavor. The sides were standard. Again. It’s not bad.

Stellar find in the parking lot of Home2Suites Katy… the building, staff, service, speed, & drink selection were all fantastic. The food was EXCELLENT. Fajita Veracruz w/ shrimp & chicken w/ flour & corn tortillas was 10/10… guacamole Fresca 10/10. Black beans 11/10… much appreciation, highly recommend.

The restaurant serves high-quality Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere is cozy, with beautiful decorations and plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. There's even a small play area for kids. The food is served quickly, and the staff is enthusiastic and attentive. Plus, you get free ice cream after your meal! I ordered the kids' crispy taco, Pollo Marisco, and Ribeye Street Taco. The portions were just right, and the food was quite delicious.

We have always enjoyed the food and environment here. We haven't ever had a bad experience. But we picked up an order Togo today and we ordered the elote! When we got home, it's clearly just roasted corn with cheese. Nothing how it's advertised.

1st time trying Jimmy Changas and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and service was great as well. The food reminded me a bit of Chuys and Gringos both of which I love. Will have to try it again when I see it.

While in the area shopping, this establishment was highly recommended on google. So why not try it. I had the street tacos (ribeye) along with a perfect patron frozen margarita. My server was Val and she was great. I learned about the awards program they have. I highly recommend registering if you eat here often or Gringos (sister establishment). I'm always at gringos and never knew of this program. My food was good nice and hot. I'm so in love with the green avocado salsa. It pairs so well with red meat. The refried beans was so flavorful, I could eat them allday. I'll definitely return when in the area.

I had an excellent experience at the restaurant thanks to Laura's service. From the moment we arrived, she was incredibly attentive, friendly, and always had a smile. She made great recommendations and was always attentive to our table without being intrusive. It was clear she's knowledgeable about Tex-Mex dishes, and her attitude made our visit even more enjoyable. Definitely top-notch service! I wish all restaurants had someone like Laura on their team. Ask for her, she is the best!

Fantastic Service from Alvaro at Jimmy Changas! We had a great experience dining at Jimmy Changas, and a big part of that was thanks to Alvaro. From the moment we sat down, he was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt taken care of. He checked in at just the right times, kept our drinks full, and gave helpful recommendations with a smile. You can tell he takes pride in his work and genuinely wants guests to have a good time. If you're heading to Jimmy Changas, ask for Alvaro—you won't be disappointed!

Jimmy Changas has become more than just a dining spot for us--it's our favorite solution for those busy evenings when cooking just isn't on the agenda. While the in-restaurant experience is always delightful, complete with ice cream to cap off the meal, it's their delivery service through DoorDash that has truly won us over. Our family has its favorites all lined up: my daughter goes straight for the rotisserie chicken enchiladas with queso sauce, which she insists are out of this world. My wife prefers the Machete Taco Salad, generously topped with a combo of fajita chicken and beef, striking the perfect balance of fresh and flavorful. As for myself, I can never pass up the combo plate featuring a taco, chalupa, and guacamole salad--a trifecta of tastes that never fails to satisfy. We always add a large order of queso with chips to our cart, which might be more than we need, but nobody minds when it comes to enjoying the leftovers the next day. The quality of the food remains high, even when delivered, and we've never encountered any issues with our orders. Beyond the food, what really deepens our loyalty to Jimmy Changas is their community involvement. Knowing that they support our military and contribute to local causes makes dining with them that much more rewarding. Jimmy Changas has secured its place as our regular go-to for those nights when we want a comforting meal without the hassle of cooking. It's a local gem that consistently delivers both in flavor and service.

Food was ok, the fajitas could be much better as their drinks, but that was the place my stepson chose (he is 10), he chose it because of the ice cream. My first time going there, it's a very busy place, noisy, and we couldn't barely listen to each other. The service was excellent though! Forgot his name, but he deserves a better place to work in! Restrooms were not clean, but this is some people's problems. They behave like animals in the restrooms. I'll not return!

Had the beef and chicken fajitas at the Katy location. The food was fine and the service was excellent. The fajitas for 2 people at $40 is a little high in my opinion, especially for the quantity received. Not an exceptional value, just ok as the food is ok, but not near Pappasitos quality/flavor, but their fajitas for 2 would cost more at Pappasitos, but you'd get more food for you money that tastes exceptional. The warm/fresh flour tortillas are the same as Pappasitos, so I liked that a lot. Unlike Pappasitos, the restaurant was not packed at lunch so to make it impossible to talk. Therefore, I'd bring customers here vs Pappasitos if I needed to discuss business and they wanted Tex Mex food.

Either, there's some MSG or too much salt in the food. What I ordered: Fish Tacos $14.79 Total: $18.50 post-tax with tip

Such an amazing place for Tex-Mex. If I'm not around a Gringos, then Jimmy Changas would be the place I go to, my goto order here would be their queso regular size w orders of flour tortillas to dip it with. I get their fajita beef plate (medium rare) w shredded cheese. Their beef is so juicy and flavorful. Can't really say anything negative about Jimmy changas when I was here. Will definitely come back

Tried giving them a second chance, but yet again we're disappointed with the food and service. We really only came for the playground so the kids can play outside under a covered playground and have lunch. Overall, I would not recommend them and we won't be coming back. The food is bland, basic and lacks serious professional thought. The drinks... I just don't bother...even a basic margarita has seltzer to top off. It really is not worth the time, drive or money.

The rare 5 star makes an appearance. Ive been coming here on and off for years. It's not convenient for me but man will I continue to drive out of my way to eat here. It's a chain. Let's get that out of the way. But it feels like a little local place. Friendly people. Nice patio. Big parking lot. But most importantly great food. Had the ribeye tacos and they were the perfect portion size. Maybe a little bit since I'm a glutton and ate my weight chips and their green sauce. Their red sauce is cold, which is my favorite. Tons of flavor. The tacos had amazing rice and beans. The true metric for a good Mexican restaurant. Was in bit of a rush and they accommodated me and got me on my way. Delicious food. Good service. Damn you, I'll be back.

Marisco Bowl! So yum!! We had a big party and Jimmy Changas was able to accommodate us within 20 minutes. They were packed! Food was great and our server, Gauge, was great!

I'm a Gringos type of girl but when I found out this was their sister location, had to try it. They have my Gringo's favorite, Marisco Bowl which I got and added fajita chicken. It was great. One of my diners got the Marisco bowl without the cheese and said it was so good. The southwest egg rolls were good and between the queso and the cilantro sauce, cilantro sauce me please for the egg rolls. The house margarita didn't seem like it was hitting but...yeah. You will feel it. We sat outdoors and with a few kids in the party, the outdoor kids gym was great for them. Houston is real hot and at 6pm tonight it was still 100. There just so happened to have a breeze pass through often to cool us down that made it less sweaty. All in all I'll be back

I was highly impressed with our first visit here. We came out to celebrate my birthday. The adult beverages were tasty and strong. The server was very attentive and checked in every now and then to ensure we were doing alright. (Photos attached from first visit) Our second visit how ever was not as pleasant. Our server was taken aback by our questions of the menu asking if it was our first time there. Then proceeded to not return to the table until we needed the check. Our food was brought out by different staff members of the kitchen. It was a very odd experience to say the least. Over all the food has been tasty both visits and we enjoy the free ice cream before we head out!

I love this place for the playground and ice cream for the kids. The pollo el dorado is fantastic and my favorite dish. This place is owned by Gringo's family so I'm not a fan of their premade bagged chips but other than that I love it here!

This is a great place for family friendly environment, delicious food, and taco Tuesday with your friends!!! The staff were very engaging, upbeat. & friendly. The ambiance was welcoming and comfortable. Now the eats!!! We tried salads and appetizers. I ordered the chicken fajita salad and it was scrumptious!!! The assortment of veggies/toppings were fresh and full of flavor. The taquitos were just ok.....I feel like they should have been seasoned a little more; so on a scale of 1-10 I would give them a 6.5. The second entree was the Machete Salad which tasted so good with the cilantro vinaigrette dressing. If you in Katy looking for fun vibes and great eats check them out!! Enjoy

I enjoy the food here. The nachos come with 8 large tortilla chips loaded with your choice of meat and cheese. The flavors are pretty decent and the servers are nice. If you don't want to hear screaming kids, don't sit outside.

Overall, we like Jimmy Changas. The food is good and we don't normally have to wait long. You can tell there is not a good culture among the employees there. We eat there probably once a month and EVERY TIME WE ARE THERE, the servers are complaining and mad at their hostesses, runners, etc. There's 1-2 pleasant hostesses/greeters but the others are rude. Seems like there's an overall lack of good leadership there. Hope they get that taken care of.

This was my first time visiting this place. I thought this was one of those places where food was tasteless and cheap. I was wrong. Their food is fresh and delicious. Our waitress was superb! And the ambiance is another level. Their concept is a Mexican (Tex-Mex) restaurant, but they paid attention to the details and did a great job of not appropriating or insulting the Mexican culture. I ordered the Pollo Marisco ($17.99), and it was delicious. I must say this: I regret ordering this plate because it had a LOT!! Grease and cheese. That makes it delicious, but I left thinking about the calories, etc. Again, it is delicious. Great dish presentation and handmade tortillas! I definitely would return to JC and recommend it to friends.

OMG when we first got here people greeted us with joy, it was such a warm cozy feeling and then the host Lily was such an amazing person and then our server Diego was also very well at communicating to us, he was so awesome! And the manager I think he is name is Alejandro he was nice he did a lot for us and I seen him talk to everyones table to make sure they were ok! I would highly recommend going to Jimmy Changas to eat with your friend's and family!

My all time favorite fajita!!!! The margaritas are pretty great as well. Service is always friendly and we love the free soft serve ice cream. Recommend it!

Another great night at jimmy changas. Alejandro might be the best restaurant manager I have ever met. Keep in mind my daughter is a restaurant manager. He looked through all my mother in laws Vacation photos Then he gave my grandson a jimmy changas football which he was over the moon about! The service and food was amazing! This will forever be our go to for family dinners!

Decided to come here because they had a shaded play ground. The food was good, our service was ok. We came around noon the inside seemed busy. Laila was our server very kind. I sat outside so my son could play. Best part? Enjoying a margarita in peace while all the kids burned their energy out. Might be my new regular place. All the seating is shaded and they have fans. Even in this Texas heat I wasn't uncomfortable at all. Their was a pleasant breeze and felt cool the entire time.

Passing through for lunch and it is a nice family spot with an outside play area. The Tex Mex food was great for a family of 5 about $70 and free ice cream for all that was the plus. Our waitress was helpful as she was also the bartender. It was not to busy but steady.

Traveling in Texas thought we would try them for some TXMex. Plenty of parking in their lot next to the restaurant. Very friendly staff. Wife had a beef taco salad their ground beef is made with potatoes and their beef plus spices. I had a ground beef burrito which uses the same ground beef. I'm not a fan of the seasoning - very good but not my favorite. So it's a 4. You'll have to try their ground beef and report in. Plenty of food.

One of my favorite places to go to. Been a loyal customer for years. The staff here are ALWAYS friendly. I've never had a bad experience. The dining room is always clean and comfortable. The food is EXCEPTIONAL! I love jumping around their menu on each visit. Hard to do because I definitely have my favorites but no matter what I choose I'm always satisfied. Wonderful restaurant!!!!

Is not one is my favorite place to eat. I have been here few times and personally there is something in the seasonings that is not my cup of tea. The majority of my family likes it though.

Farren was amazing!!! Super friendly with a great smile and awesome personality! She served the bar area alone and was amazing! She served everything and everyone with happiness and pleasant demeanor. The food was real good. I order a Bad Daddy Chimi. This was flavorful and smothered with queso the side was refried beans and rice!

The fajitas, white queso, and green sauce are always on point. And for the kiddos, you can't beat the free ice-cream and playground. Today, I tired the whiskey-rita, because it combined two of my favorite dribks: Makers whiskey and margaritas. It was way better than I expected; really good! We have good Mexican places out near us in Fulshear, but that cocktail may make me make the drive to Katy.

Excellent, food, Service, and the Ambiance changes with the time of day and week and seasons of year. But it's always happy and lively with something going on smiles on faces and we are comfortable with regular staff who seem to remember us and our likes and preferences, which is cool and our family and grandchildren just love the place.

Nah, it's not for me dawg. There's way better Tex-Mex. But if you got a kid , you can sip on a weak margarita and watch them play on the playground area.

Would not recommend the food has went down since COVID-19. The chips and hot sauces not what it used to be terrible. The place is crowded all the time. The ambience is loud and it OK the food has changed and it's not that good.

It's great plase when you need have meal with kids! Pretty wide menu for adults, ice cream and playground for kids. And yes, food is tasty!

Good Tex-mex food, decent margaritas, but the best quality is the play space for kids! It's hard to dine out with kids as it is, and it's nice to find a place who caters to families.

Great Food, affordable menu, this spot is often crowded but worth the wait . I have a large family and we are often gathered here for a birthday or special occasion. Family environment lots of space indoors and out. I have never had a bad experience with Jimmy Changas.

Wait was not a problem here in a Saturday night. Good options were decent and kids love free ice cream

Came to lunch for some Tex-Mex and fun! We enjoyed the Gorilla Peppers as the appetizer. They were super hot and sweet from the bbq pulled pork and spicy with the jalapeño. I enjoyed the ribeye street tacos that had the perfect char and well seasoned. My husband enjoyed the chimmy, that was generously stuffed with beef fajita and topped with queso. We enjoyed our lunch and had great service. Would definitely recommend both plates! I gave the rating 4 stars bc we miss out on free ice cream; no one made us aware of ice cream. Our baby would have loved it.

I would have to say, this place wasn't bad! I've lived in Katy for awhile and was looking for a different place to try. This was close by and it was quite enjoyable. The whole building itself looks really kiddish and same goes for the interior but that didn't really bother me to much. It's a kid friendly family restaurant. Service wasn't bad. Our server was constantly checking up on us! He seemed nervous and forgetful. We didn't even get silverware's until our meals came out but he got us everything else! haha but I loved the green sauce that was served with our chips & dips. He even packed me extra for take out after our meal. We opted to share the el captain platter. It had pretty much everything! Chicken, shrimp, steak, crawfish sauce?! Food came out really quick, thank goodness because ya girl was hangry! Everything was very simply prepared and it was good. Quick & enjoyable Tex-Mex! I would come back one day and try the remaining menu items!

Basic Tex Mex. Nothing special. Service was alright (server can't even pronounce dishes correctly). Very white washed Tex Mex. I would rather go to a hole in the wall than this place.

My family and I had such a great experience here tonight. Our server (Anthony) made our experience phenomenal. The service was prompt, friendly and nothing shy of wonderful, plus he was so friendly and welcoming with my kids with us a huge thing for us. The food was great, the service was amazing, definitely will return and ask for Anthony. Perfect evening for celebrating my husbands birthday!

They have amazing beef fajitas and the best flour tortillas me and my family went here and it was amazing 5/5 I highly recommend. And the staff where so nice and amazing the only thing I have to say is the wait is a little long.

I haven't been here in a long while , but really like their Charro Beans. I could eat a giant bowl of bean soup of these. The music is not so loud , guacamole is/was good when I had it and the Big Daddy Burrito is my favorite. I tried the Mexican Lasagna, and Taco Bowl , all very delicious and fresh ingredients. Staff at the time were really nice and friendly.

This was our first time here, i will never come here again, ever. Service was good,food was HORRIBLE, fajitas were red and bloody when I asked for them to be well done, then I got my check which was well over 100.00 and the fajita meat was not deducted since I didn't replace it, I asked for a manager and no one ever came to the table. It was my husband bday and I asked for someone to bring a sweet and sing happy birthday, the waitress came and brought him a slice of cake and didn't sing she said it was against policy due to noise concerns yet the place was filled with people and extremely noisy so I didn't get that part. Don't waste your money on this place.

This is a good less expensive option for fajitas. Our server, Story (like the book), was awesome. Highly recommend!

The new offerings for Hatch Grren Chilis are great! We had the Hatch Queso with Chicharones and the Hatch Green Chili Chicken, The Hatch Green Chili Enchiladas are delicious as well. Dustin provided great service and kept our iced tea glasses full. For a special drink, try the frozen pineapple margaritas; you won't be disappointed. Try this location and enjoy the outdoor seating with a great play area for the younger kids.
