Jimmys Big Burgers

Stopped by after a long hike on the Fourth. We ordered a Texas burger and a Jimmy’s burger. The portions were MASSIVE, staff were friendly, and the food was delicious. Our dog had a space to relax in, too.

Amazing burger!! Very fresh! Good size. Very filling. I usually get a double but I’m glad I got a single because the patties are a good size! Not only was the burger fantastic but those were some of the best fries I’ve had. Great service as well! Two thumbs up! We will be back when we return to Austin!

Been wanting to hit this place for a long time and finally had a chance. Was late, but Jimmy hooked me up with a delicious burger! The fries were nice too. There are several burger options on the menu, will come back and try more for sure. Looks like he’s by himself there, maybe the hardest working guy in the food truck business. There was some covered seating next to the food truck. Some parking nearby as well. Come out and support local businesses and avoid chain restaurants. I highly recommend this place!

The burgers and fries are delicious and filling. Note: They recently moved to a new location with great parking, not far from previous location. But, back to the food, which is amazing. They offer some of the best sandwiches and burgers. And those fries!!! All served up hot and fresh.

Now this is what you call a burger!! Definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had in Austin thus far. Got to try the Texas Double Burger - so delicious and filling! It’s in a pretty hidden area off South Congress in South Austin, so be careful not to miss it. The cooks were super friendly! Can’t wait to come back and try their other options.

Yelpers, I am telling you this food truck has the best burgers in the Austin area. They are phenomenal and delicious. You can opt for a double patty but I will tell you try the single patty first. The double patty is a lot. Now if you have a bottomless pit or tapeworm then go for the double patty. The staff here are cool as can be, you can go with just the hamburger or do the combo. They do offer a variety of other food such as wings. Parking at the new location isn't too bad, but they are sharing with other businesses. This place you must definitely try if you like a good old fashion tasty hamburger.

Jimmy burgers is great! The food tastes great, they give you large portion sizes, and the price is reasonable for how much you get. This time I got the Texas big burger. My only complaint is that I wish they were open later in the night.

Jimmy knows how to make a burger. I tried the Chipotle and my boyfriend had the Hawaiian. They were both so good- huge juicy burgers. I ordered mine in part because I wanted mushrooms. I have high standards for mushrooms and these delivered. They were cooked perfectly. The fries were delicious and seasoned well. Jimmy was super friendly. Great prices, too. Heads up- he kindly asks you pay in cash so hit up the atm before you go. There is covered outdoor seating.

When I chose to eat here, I checked the reviews and there were way more positive reviews than negative, so I thought the odds were in my favor. The few negative reviews mentioned bland burgers, but the positive ones say these are the best burgers in town. I thought I couldn't be unlucky enough to be in the minority and receive bland burgers, but, boy, was I wrong! NO SEASONING IN THE PATTIES!! Not even salt? If they had just seasoned the patties like they seasoned their fries, my experience would be completely different. An easy 5 stars. But nope. A solid 2, only because of everything other than the patties. We came at around 8pm on a Saturday night and were the only customers, so maybe that should've been a sign. Also the lot felt kinda sketchy in the dark. Idk if I would have wanted to be there alone at night. Food was also ready in 10 minutes, like the guy told us. FRIES: Thick cut, well-seasoned, good. Looked like a steak seasoning on the fries. I liked it, but since they were thick, the center of the fries were bland, unfortunately. Maybe it would've been less noticeable if we ate them right away. Large serving though. My bf and I only got one combo and couldn't finish the fries with each of our burgers. The burgers are big, at 4 inches wide. THOUSAND ISLAND BURGER: I liked it at first because of the thousand island, but for the bites that didn't have it, I noticed that the patty didn't taste seasoned...like at all. I was shocked at how bland it was without the dressing. MUSHROOM BURGER: The mushrooms had no flavor, probably weren't seasoned at all. The burger, overall, was also very bland. Unseasoned patty here too. The ingredients felt fresh, but it was missing the flavor we were expecting. Really disappointing. They gave ketchup packets in the bag, but we didn't remember they were in there before finishing our burgers. It probably would've really helped, but the burgers shouldn't have needed it to be good.

They didn't answer the phone, my first impression was skeptical -- However when I arrived they were listening to some music and ignoring me; or I thought they were. The music was too loud maybe? Again skeptical, but I went with my gut and knew that this would probably be one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. I ordered, very fairly priced! I did the Texas double cheeseburger minus the beef and switched it out with turkey meat, no bacon, side of fries and water. When I tell you this burger was fabulous, it was made so fresh...the fries were seasoned perfectly and I tried to force them down my throat. They were so fresh and delicious that I risked burning the top of my mouth to devour them. The burger was juicy & thick like me so it was a win win all around. It wasn't too heavy on my stomach.

My company ordered this for lunch for 12 of our coworkers and it was so good! Ordering was super easy and was ready on time when I arrived. Everything was packaged nicely and was very hot even after my drive. The burgers are HUGE and SO good!!! We also got fries and chicken tenders and loved everything! The guys at the truck were very nice and I liked that there was a shaded area for sitting and eating. The only thing is that the truck is kind of hard to find, they need a big sign where you turn in.

I decided to try this place because of the many positive reviews but I have to say I was very disappointed. First off they never answered the phone and I couldn't order through their website. Finally when I found the joint, the employees couldn't care less in assisting me on making a choice. I was really craving a good burger but this burger was badly made, the bread was soggy and disgusting, the meat was bland and very greasy. Gross is the appropriate word for it.

Found this place on Yelp, and based on reviews and pictures decided to drive out of the way to try it, glad we did, it did not disappoint. We had the combos, and fries are fresh cut, and burger is the best we had in a long time; very juicy and flavorful.

3.5 stars. Easy to fly pass. There are other food trucks that have Mexican food and a Massage parlor is there too. A big fan keeps you cool if you are fortunate enough to get under it while you wait. I had a problem with the flies and mosquitos. Took 10 minutes like he said. As advertised BIG. FRESH AND FULL OF FLAVOR for my kids! I didn't care for my burger. My kids loved their burgers and fries! I too loved the fries and the burger was BIG but lacked flavor; I appreciated the bun was toasted; and the food stayed hot.

A bit tucked away, but we did a quick turnabout and found it snucked away by what looks like a "happy ending" massage parlor. There was one customer in front of us around 5:30 on a Wednesday. We chose the Avocado Burger for our son, but he said the avocados were no good yet offered the Guacamole Burger, which we declined. Instead, we went with the Bacon Cheeseburger for our son, and we chose the La Toriada combo, which for $6 more came with fries and a canned soda. It took about 10 minutes to receive our food. It was hot and fresh, so we pocked at the fries on the way back to the hotel, and they were delish. Some of the best we have ever had. Unfortunately, though, the burgers did not have the same flavor. They lacked any flavor. Our bottom buns were soggy and no cheese. I wish they would have used the same seasoning on the burgers as the fries.

Chipotle burger with pepper jack cheese? Avocado mushroom burger? Double bacon cheese burger? Yup. They're all here and other delicious sounding Frankenstein creations. We ordered these and they were all packed and tacked pretty high. All were super tasty and loved the way the ground beef is seasoned, generously peppered and a hint of salt. The only ding is that i didn't get alot of that chipotle taste on my burger. Nonetheless, it was beautifully messy. GOLLY THEIR FRIES! Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with this great seasoning. Great food, great value and great service. Check out their menu and watch your mouth water!

Was craving a good homemade burger and this spot surpassed my expectations! Delicious and savory..I'm drooling just remembering my burger! The freshest fries! & the nicest service.

Oh man what a burger. Got the big burger combo - big burger indeed with mushrooms jalapenos grilled onions. Thick home cut fries. Everything perfectly seasoned, a hearty delicious burger. They boast 25 different burgers - I can't wait to come back and try em all.

This is the hardest review I've ever written. I paused 2 days between eating and collecting my honest thoughts. I've been curious of this place for awhile in its old location. When they moved, closer to home I had to try. Got the mushroom burger. When it came out, the namesake of the place did not disappoint. The whole thing was pretty big. First bite I had a hard time getting the whole thing in my mouth, all bun. lol. The mushrooms were done very well. The actual burger. Meh. no seasoning, Meh. Where I'm torn in this review is to find a food truck, that has honest prices. Whole Thing was 8$. I can fully respect that. For the quality of the burger if they charged Austin prices of 15$ I would BLAST them. Hard. Unrelenting. Honest road side hard working food truck owner, good on ya man. Keep it up.

Everything you want in a burger. No nonsense, just big delicious burgers. The thick cut fries are also great. Will be back

I'm not gonna lie, we only came here because I was super hungry after landing in the airport and I needed food stat or I was gonna freak out. I was super happy when we pulled into Jimmy's big burger to see an adorable little dining area and a little food truck. I asked them the most popular burgers, and we ended up going with the Texas big burger which had wonderful veggies on it, including onions, mushrooms, and jalapeños. It was a bit messy, but it was absolutely delicious and I'm happy happy that we also got their fresh not frozen handcut fries on the side. I would definitely have came back if there wasn't so many good places in Austin to eat.

Fast food places could only dream about making a burger and fries like that extremely good

my wife and I went and we enjoyed the food. It was amazing and the portions are huge! The fries were seasoned and very tasty.

Um, yes! If you don't want the delicious barria tacos in the truck next to it and feel like a delicious burger this is the place to go! They have a good selection of burger choices, unfortunately they were out of the blue cheese I wanted but the Chiptole and Chili Cheese burgers were amazing. The fries were very good as well. The owner is nice and got me the food in under 10 minutes without calling ahead. If you go during cold weather be aware there are NO heaters.

The cheeseburger and fries were 5 and 3 year old approved. The Guacamole (turkey) cheeseburger was delicious Philly cheese steak was reported to be good The Patty Melt was not good. It was almost too much patty/meat and not enough seasoning/melt. Meals came out pretty fast (~5-10 mins). There was covered seating but it was obviously hot because it's 100+ degrees outside. 4 burgers/fries, 3 bottled drinks ~$55

Ate here today and for once I have a solid contender to hopdoddy. I think Jimmys is the best burger I've had in a long time. Ingredients were fresh , the fries were cooked to perfection. And they have wings too!! I'd recommend literally anything you read on the menu that makes you say, "hmmm that'll probably be good" cause it will be. Definitely will be back

I ordered the Jimmys Big Burger and wow, i haven't had a burger this good in a long time! It was fresh and delicious! The burger patty is juicy and full of flavor, was honestly not expecting much so im glad I was pleasantly surprised. The fries were decent but not as fresh, they are seasoned very well tho. The was no wait but I came on a Thursday close to 8pm, so not sure how busy it gets during lunch or weekend.

This is an absolutely solid option if you want a hefty burger at a really affordable price. I got the Jimmy's Big Burger and loved it. It's a no-frills old school burger with jalapenos and mushrooms. The fries also get the job done even though they're a bit thicker than I like. If you're in the South Congress area and don't know what to eat, come here. It's that simple.

The burgers were amazing! Everything tasted fresh ! Customer service was excellent as well. If you're ever in the Southside of Austin, I recommend this place.

Damn good burgers but they have moved from Congress and Stassney. It was fun while it was there. Burgers were top of the heap with plenty of ingredients. Fries were seasoned well without going overboard.

On point! All good choices and you can't beat it for the money!! It would be awesome if they were open on Sunday

It was close by but you can easily miss it. He's probably located in that particular area for affordability. Quick and accurate service. The burgers and fries were well worth it!! I didn't expect fries to taste so good. The burgers were big. I could have eaten half and be satisfied. Wish I had enough time to revisit, but my plane leaves in the morning.

Good, large burgers with lots of topping options for an incredibly reasonable price. Almost makes you wonder what meat product they are using that they are still able to turn a profit, but everything seems good quality. I wish the fries came out a little crispier, but over all I think they give a great value

The last 2 times I got a combo meal here I was disappointed. The burgers I got weren't the ones I ordered and paid for - for instance I ordered a bacon cheeseburger combo but there was no bacon. Also both times the fries tasted off, kinda stale. I like supporting an independent food truck and they seem like good guys but I won't be back anytime soon.

If you know me, you know that I love a good, big, greasy cheeseburger. I saw this place on FOX7 News and had to try it. I was very impressed with the double cheeseburger with fries that I ordered. Service was speedy, nice food truck, friendly staff and atmosphere. The burger was big, juicy, and very flavorful. The fries were very good and crisp. I paid about $16 for a double cheeseburger with everything on it, fries, and a drink. It was worth it. I give Johnny's Big Burger 5 out of 5 drinks. Cheers!

These burgers are very big and messy, in the best way! Burgers and fries were very good. The combo is a great deal for the price, around $13-$14 for a large burger, tons of fries, and 2 soda cans. Location is off the road in a gravel lot, there's 2 food trucks, some seating and shade. We randomly found this place and are happy we did, will be back!

Food is great. Enjoy the picnic type seating on a lovely spring evening. Great variety of burgers and they will customize them to your taste.

OFF THE MAP - LITERALLY This is what I love about Texas. A humble, off-beaten path food truck, not listed on Yelp. Yet, I'd argue, Jimmys' serves up one of the most creative spice, huge, juicy, fresh, delicious burger in all of Austin (and there's no shortage of options). Gourmet without the price. It's located on an unassuming lot with aged, outdoor furniture where one-hundred years ago cowboys, cowgirls, and their horses would gather. Highly recommend.

I've been wanting to come here for a while but kept getting side tracked. I'm finally having to get my health back on track so I figured I needed to get in a few things as a last hurrah and this was high on the list. I stopped on the way home from work one day. It was right as they were opening so I was probably the first customer. His open light wasn't even on yet but he was ready to take my order. I got the Jimmy's Big Burger Combo and added bacon. It's a standard burger, fry and drink combo but that burger was anything but standard. It was huge. The beef was obviously real and not some compressed meat disk. It was loaded with veggies and the things that were not apart of a standard burger were the mushrooms and pickled jalapenos. Also, the onions were grilled so that definitely elevated everything. On top of all of that, the cheese was EVERYWHERE. It was done fresh and when I got it home it was still warm. On the way the smell was so great I was lucky to get pics. The burger was so juicy. All I can say is that you could tell everything was chopped and put together that day. It reminded me of the burgers from my childhood. Those awesome, juicy irreplaceable burgers your mom made that you didn't appreciate as a child because you wanted McDonald's but as an adult you're on a constant search for (because now we're all too busy and lazy to do it ourselves). The fries were really good too. They were chunky and seasoned really well. Not sure what the seasoning was but they stood up well to the wonderfully seasoned beef. Now that I've tried this place and I know the quality of burger that's so close to me, I don't think I can go anywhere else. Nothing nearby compares to this.

just moved to Austin from Vegas and this was one of the first burger spots I've tried and I have to say 5 STARS ISNT ENOUGH! best juicy seasoned burger I've ever had !!! better than mine dammit and mine are bomb. you go jimmy !!

Just WOW. The burgers here are incredible! The menu has a huge selection to choose from, so there is something for everyone. All the food was super fresh & their fries are TO DIE FOR! Needless to say, this is going to be my husband and I's new burger spot.

The burgers were juicy and delicious they are huge and couldn't finish my avocado burger but boy I couldn't stop eating it lol. There is also plenty of parking and the food truck shares space with a restaurant next door so you can use their outside seating if you wanted to sit and eat. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of their other burgers

We ordered here for pick-up and are so impressed by the quality of the burgers (in general, but *especially* for the price). We ordered the hamburger and the bacon cheeseburger. Both burgs included an abundance of fresh veg and generous and flavorful patties. 10/10 recommend checking it out!

As a yelper in a foodie these are the places you love to fine. This is one of the best burger places you can find in Austin they have a large selection of flavors and Jimmy really loves making burgers. You're getting the best quality ingredients does not skimp on the meat you will be full if you finish the whole thing night night. Was not disappointed has been back several times what an amazing spot. They have seating outside some shaded you can BYOB they have water and sodas just a great Austin spot of how Austin used to be and so happy we still have the spots here.

Dang this burger was good! My first yelp review (I think) cause I feel like this place deserves it. Super juicy, tasty and a great size for the price ($10). Very attentive service from the man taking my order. The place is kinda hidden on a lot on SOCO but great for sitting down and enjoying the day either under the nice sun or a big roof they also have with plenty of seating options. Will definitely be coming back with friends and family to try more!

Went here for a quick Saturday lunch and boy did it hit the spot!! This lil food truck serves up a bomb ass burger. The patty was thick and well seasoned, beautiful bacon, soft bun. The fries were crispy and seasoned.

I stopped by on my way home today, I ordered a cheese burger and some fries and only waited for maybe 10 minutes for my food? I get home and this burger tastes like something my grandpa would make you! PERFECT seasoning, big patties, well portioned toppings. This place was inexpensive, very satisfying, and also nice outdoor seating. 10/10 will be coming back!

Don't sleep on this place these burgers are pretty great! Patty is Juicy and not over cooked, seasoning is great and the size of these things is formidable. Seasoning on fries is flavorful and while I would've preferred them a little more well done I understand it's a preference. I went simple to try it out it but was perfect and makes me think the more intricate ones are well worth the potential mess. These burgers are what they should taste like and what happens when you use real meat!
