I've come here a few times for coffee chats or to do some work. Great service, always friendly and informative about the coffee (I got a macchiato and they made sure I was aware that it's an espresso shot with foam on top, not the Starbucks caramel one). They also have a good variety of pastries and to go goods, and self serve water fountain. Seating and vibes are cozy.

One of the best flat whites I’ve ever had! Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. My friend tried the *´Jimmy’s Very Own’ and absolutely loved it too. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with great lighting that makes it a perfect spot to relax or get some work done. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall great experience. Plus, there’s plenty of seating, which is always a bonus. Definitely a must-visit for coffee lovers!

I visited Jimmy's Coffee in Portland, Toronto, during my stay for the Taylor Swift concert, and it was an absolute delight! Place got a nice cozy vibe and inviting atmosphere. Cappuccino had on my first visit was perfectly crafted, and loved it so much I returned the next day for a matcha latte, which was equally amazing. Also their baked goods looked fresh and tempting, and the barista was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's easily one of my favorite spots now, and can't wait to visit again! Highly recommend!

Jimmy's Coffee is a cafe I've seen on my walks and drives throughout downtown Toronto, and I just had to stop by and try out their stuff. 🥘☕️ The cafe has a fine-selected/crafted menu with options for coffee, non-coffee, and snacking items. Ordered the iced latte, lemonade, and butter pecan tart. All their stuff is delicious and top-notch, and it's definitely a place I would come back and try again! 🕑 Opened during the early mornings of the day, and closes at 6 pm, which I think is a decent time for cafes (although I wish it closed even later). 🌿✨️ The aesthetics of this place is dark, vibrant, but also has some personality to the place (check my pictures to see what I'm talking about). They have plenty of seating, they have 2 separate areas, and one of the areas looks like a good place to study or bring a group of friends. They also have cute fixtures and paintings on the walls, and have some merchandise as well. 🤍 Customer service is amazing, and everything was kept clean and tidy as well. There was a line for this place at the time we went (late afternoon), but the line goes by pretty quickly. There's always a steady flow of customers, but the 2nd area to sit (to bring big groups or study) gets filled up pretty quickly.

Surprisingly I remember it from years ago. The coffee was great. The atmosphere was friendly, and the fire in the back warmed my feet. What a pleasant visit

Just popped into this spot after seeing its stellar Google reviews. Ordered a medium latte - tasted great, but had my heart racing all afternoon. Not sure if that's a plus or a minus! 🤷‍♂️ The ambiance is super cozy and the staff are friendly. Bonus points for the yellow lid!

Google
The place is great for a quick takeout coffee. The girl behind the bar was polite and friendly, and the brewed coffee was tasty. However, they didn’t have actual cups to serve the coffee in, and although the seating area was hipster and cool, it wasn’t enough to accommodate all the customers. There was a lineup, and the space felt a bit tight for both those standing in line and those seated.

June 2023 5* Visited the place for some coffee chat and the place is very nice. It is not big place and has limited sitting area but you can always find the place to sit. You can sit, relax and work endlessly and enjoyed your coffee. The place is pet friendly. Staff is amazing and you can enjoy your coffee and snacks. There are not many food options.

Yelp
I came here to get a coffee on a Monday afternoon. The baristas were so nice and chatty. I ordered a chai latte with almond milk, which was good. There is a ton of seating and it's a great place to do work or hang out for a bit, either alone or with a group.

Yelp
If the pictures don't inspire to visit @jimmys_coffee then I do hope this review does. Because this place is everything! From the decor to the vibe to the coffee to the super friendly & warm crew -- this place needs to be on your bucket list of #cafesintoronto for all the more reasons! & we love a place where the coffee SLAPS! I tried the Jimmy's Very Own & ooo lala! It was soooo good!!! Like I could drink a pint of this! Special mention to Patrick for being super nice! He was literally the most friendliest person I've met in a cafe! He literally made my experience 100/100!‍ Don't forget to walk all the way to the back of the cafe! Its unreal! Safe to say you would end up spending hours just chilling/working! Toilets are clean & divine! Don't forget to share this with someone you would like to visit & follow along as I share with you the BEST #cafesoftoronto

Yelp
Food, service, was great Convenient location and easy to access Space to work on different levels

Yelp
Fantastic tasting coffee. I recommend the cortado as they have their own unique way of making this traditional Spanish brew that tastes above the rest.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Extremely rude service at the McCaul location. Very disappointing and will not return.

Yelp
The original Jimmy's is the one on the east side of Portland. The latest one at 100 Portland, across the street is the larger, swankier, less divey version and looks more sophisticated and upscale. The second floor is well worth visiting. I particularly like how they decorated with the repurposed doors along with the beautiful patina that goes along with them. When the employees crank up the AC, it's got a chill in the place that makes me want to leave, but there are corners to find that will be comfortable without a doubt. I like how there's room at the new Jimmy's. Perfect for backpacks and strollers, and the aisles are not a bumpin zone like at the original location. The saying is, "107 for the coffee and personalities, and 100 for the coffee and food" or something like that. Whatever you decide, the guarantee is that a great cup of coffee is going to accompany you whether drinking it on the patio with friends or other patrons, or grabbing it to go with one of those tell-tale bright Yellow tops. If you are drinking it there, eschew the lid thing and just drink the coffee straight out of the cup to enjoy full flavour. After all, you wouldn't drink a tasty craft IPA straight from a bottle or can to draw in the full flavour spectrum, therefore don't do it with a soppy up lid and your delicious coffee beverage either. The other pro tip is to sign up for their app rewards deal; it's legit.

Yelp
Jimmy's Coffee is our final stop for our Koffee Krawl... But it is also the first stop for some of our yelpers.. especially those one that partied so hard the night before and could not make it before 1 pm! After having 4 cappuccinos..I am not really wired (maybe my fellow yelpers might disagree) but more like feel loaded with milk.... so I decide to try Jimmy's Americano ($2.25) instead. The lone barista here was so efficient... taking orders, making coffees and collecting money like a well tuned machine!! Though Jimmy's Coffee has a lot more seating than Thor but since it was set up to be laptop friendly so all the tables were taken and would likely be occupied for another hour or more at least. Luckily, it was a nice and warm afternoon.. the little patio at the storefront seems like a good place for us to decide where were going next. My Americano is a refreshing change from all cappuccinos I have been drinking this morning... It really woke up my palate.. bold and nutty, the way I like it! A perfect ending to my first UYE Koffee Krawl!

Jade B.

Yelp
I came here excited to try out their matcha Iced Latte but sadly it wasn't as great as I hoped it would be. I don't know if they didn't put enough of the matcha but it just tasted like cold milk. I only drank about half of it. The banana muffin was good though. A+ to the muffin.

Yelp
I can't believe an essential part of this place left. Or better, felt FORCED to leave. My friends and I started coming here a while ago and come here very often now, mostly for the amazing people working here. And the fact that a vital part of this place, one, or, I'd dare say, THE very reasons we started coming here so often and enjoy this place so much had to quit is a shame. You should value your employees more. They are the very soul of this place, and the reason why people come back so often, and over everyone else, Myles is. It's just a shame. Let me be clear-- the one star is not for the coffee. It's for the bad management for not valuing it's employees enough, after they have given this cafe 7 years of their life.

Alex S.

Yelp
Easily my favourite cold brew in Toronto. This is important. Very very important (here's looking at you, Monday morning). This absolutely deserves 5 stars. Yelp note: scones also delicious.

Nimish H.

Yelp
Some coffee shops never fail you... Jimmy Coffee is one of them! Whether you're grabbing a cup on the go or enjoying it in smartly designed cafe, consistently good coffee!

Tian Pu P.

Yelp
Pretty cheap coffee shop with good coffee. They have wifi and a deeper sitting area in the back. Also got a sitting area with 2 woodbench out front

Christina C.

Yelp
Dog lovers!!! No better coffee shop in the city than Jimmy's if you want to see the cutest selection of dog customers. They also provide a water bowl and bone-shaped treats. How thoughtful. I made a mistake with my order and the barista guy on the west-side-of-the-street location was super kind. So impressed with the warm service and the front patio/workspaces.

Robert R.

Yelp
+4 stars: Good music Good espresso Nice staff Good environment -1 Star: Still using plastic straws

Yelp
Around noon on Friday afternoon, I waltz in to order two coffees, the lady on the till was absolutely lovely and the reason why this review has two stars. Saving Grace! It's the type of coffee shop that they know you by your name. Anyway, I ordered my two coffees, one came up in a timely fashion, the prick just up and left the coffee bar with drinks. The second coffee was delayed because the regulars got served first and I was not amused as I was on my way to Billy Bishop airport to pick up a relative. The coffee tasted burnt, I will not be returning.

Alex I.

Yelp
My favourite coffee in Toronto. The brew coffee alone is great but if you get a Latte or other speciality your in for a treat as with their double shots (as standard) you get more then just a cup of warm milk. All their cakes and pastries I have tried have been fresh and tasty too so what more do you want...oh yes, to be surrounded by some of the worlds best Jimmy's from Hoffa to Hendrix they have them all which is a great touch and gives if a unique touch. Who needs Starbucks when you have Jimmy.

Karen L.

Yelp
The people who work here are always the friendliest and most welcoming baristas! I like coming in for a snack, a juice, a hot chocolate or a chai. I don't drink coffee so I can't tell you about that. Jimmy's is a cute little shop in a house on Portland. It's kind of tucked away but it's definitely worth a visit. Who needs Starbucks if you can hang out here?

Porruthai P.

Yelp
I had Jimmy's coffee many times already, but we got them at the Kensington location. This was the first time for me at this Portland location. I normally had only hot coffee, but I got BREWED COLD COFFEE this time, and I didn't regret it at all!. It was very strong and refreshing! Have to come here more often!

Ryan F.

Yelp
One of the hidden gems in the club district of Toronto, Jimmy's Coffee has one of the best reputations (word of mouth and reviews). Located in a very unassuming house located on Portland St. Jimmy's has a small 6 person patio located in the front of the store and a small seating area in the front and rear of the store and a back patio as well. The location has wifi and has enough power outlets to satisfy your power needs. The "Jimmy's" name pays homage to a variety of different famous "Jimmy's" (Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Hoffa, Jim Morrison etc) The staff here are awesome as I was greeted with a friendly "Hello" I ordered just a regular cup of mild roast coffee. The coffee was excellent and the roast was spot on. It was only $2, which was very reasonable. I was told all the coffee was "fair trade" (growers were properly compensated). Jimmy's also carries a variety of tasty pastries and sandwiches (which I did not get to sample on this visit). If your looking for a quiet place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown entertainment district. Have a coffee, grab a pastry and relax... 5 Stars

Al L.

Yelp
Decent place for a cup of coffee. Got an iced latte which was pretty good. The espresso is directly brewed into a cup of milk, which is pretty uncommon. Assuming they do it to be efficient, but certain coffee nerds would go crazy over this. Decent space inside, lots of people on laptops doing work or something..

Vanessa R.

Yelp
The ossington and Kensington locations were much quirkier and cozier than this Portland jimmy. The staffs jubilance made up for the lack. An okay Americano.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Visited Toronto with some friends and we stayed just a block down from this location and we had heard it was the very best coffee in the area. It's a cute coffee shop in some sort of restored building that is really warm and home-y. It feels like you're walking into some dude's house who just so happen to invite you over for coffee. The baristas are really chill and friendly. They can make just about anything, but I decided to go with one of their signature drinks-- Jimmy's Very Own (JVO) which was an iced vanilla latte with caramel drizzle. Sounds like your typical Starbucks-esque drink but they really do it right here. The syrup is overwhelming the drink, the espresso is smooth, and the caramel drizzle is applied in just the right about. It was simple but I loved it. They take the time to get your name and they just got a great vibe going here! Loved it!

Hailley G.

Yelp
This place is always packed because it's so good! I've never waited more than 3-5 minutes, though. They're very efficient. The staff are super friendly and make modified versions of many drinks. I always ask for the London Fog with a bit of lavender in it. All of their cold drinks in the summer are also delicious, you can't really go wrong! There isn't usually much seating. In the summer you might find space for two on the bench outside but other than that we usually grab our drinks and walk to a nearby park where there's bound to be more space.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Came here around 12:30 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon while we were walking around the city. My first time here and had heard great things. It was warm outside so we both opted for a cold drink. My friend got an iced tea and it was delicious. We detected a hint of something but couldn't put our finger on it. Pomegranate perhaps? I decided on the iced chocolate chai ($4 for the smaller size ($4.50 for the bigger size)). Sweet, a little spicy and delicious! I will definitely be back. I'd love to try the Americano that other yelpers have raved about and try the iced coffee. Check it out!

Ling M.

Yelp
Have been to this Jimmy's location multiple times now, and great experience each time. From the espresso drinks to the baked goods, Jimmy's knows how it should be done. Best americano I've had is from Jimmy's. Also notable are the scones (they're the perfect texture to dip in your tea). I bought a blueberry scone once, and had it with some black tea = amazingness. The pastry with fruit centre is also great. Had their greek yogurt sour cherry cup too which was nice. I haven't had a bad food or drink experience here. And service is always fantastic. Lovely place!

Andrea R.

Yelp
My vanilla iced latte was kind of eh at first, but once I loaded on the sugar it was quite good! As for the caramel banana bar I ordered to go with it...heavenly at first bite! Apparently a company named Circles and Squares makes 'em and they sure can bake! They have free wifi and I was psyched to be able to use my iPhone for free...or so I thought until I got hit with a $400 cell phone bill when I got home. Yikes! Fortunately, AT&T was nice to me (for once) and took off the charges.

Eric P.

Yelp
Awesome and funny baristas here. Coffee is great but the staff were courteous and nice. I ordered an Americano for my partner and accidentally got it hot instead of cold. I came back and explained and the barista made another one! Often I just ask to get it iced (e.g. at Starbucks) but I guess this is the kind of service that happens at more respectable coffee spots. Jimmy's, make sure you commend and treat your staff well because they're making me come back!

Francois P.

Yelp
This is a great coffee shop! The baristas are always super helpful and the coffee is awesome! Not much room to sit, other location across the street is better for that! Wait times in the queue aren't too bad either. For a quick coffee and go I would definitely recommend.

Agnes S.

Yelp
My favourite spot for an Americano. Single shot. I drink it black and it's not bitter at all. I love the space - there's variety with benches outside, tables inside, and a patio. The mood is laid back, unpretentious, yet esoteric to produce good quality. The baked goods are from Circles and Squares and OMG. These are not vegan.

Min Min I.

Yelp
Wandered in here and was delighted by their Americano! Soy is available on the counter should you choose to add it. Vegan coconut macaroon was solid; light and tasty.

Tanya N.

Yelp
Jimmy's is somewhat tucked away on Portland but there's usually a sandwich sign on the north east corner of King & Portland pointing you to the right direction. Once you walk in, it's as though you're taken away into a little cozy neighbourhood cafe as opposed to impersonal cafe along King (eg. Starbucks). I met a friend here for a morning latte - good morning, indeed. Just what I needed to start the day. Seating is limited so we were lucky to grab a spot. They have a number of baked goods and....sushi. Yes, they had a take out sushi in their "cold section" (not sure what else to call it, but that's where they have all their juices, yogurt, pop etc). It threw me off a bit but I guess it's good for the people that work that don't want another sandwich. The decor is great and they have pictures of various "Jimmy's" on the wall to keep you occupied while waiting in line. I need to go back.

Anna H.

Yelp
My favourite is the Mocha (with soy). This location is super tiny, but it's conveniently really close to my work. Jimmy's Coffee really shines in an area that is over-saturated with coffee shops and cafes. But what I really like about them is their mocha. Compared to other places: 1. It isn't overly sweet. The amount of sweetness is perfect! I usually have to ask most places to use less syrup or sweetener. 2. YOU CAN TASTE THE COFFEE. I ask for double espresso (they give you an option as to single or double), but it's extremely rich and full of flavour. 3. There's a hint of dark cocoa that makes it extremely unique. The only way I can describe it is that it tastes like the dust on top of truffles. Funny enough I haven't had their coffee, but I love the mocha so much I always order it even though I come in with the intention of trying something new :P P.S. This is more of a grab-and-go kind of place. It tends to get cramped, especially when there are a lot of people lining up so if you are looking for a chill place to sit down and chat, this might not be for you.

Adam Z.

Yelp
Nestled slightly off the heavily beaten path of King St W, Jimmy's coffee offers standard coffee fair done exceptionally well in its simple and basic form. A staple in the neighborhood, the walls are decorated with famous "Jimmys" such as Hendricks, Morrison, Hoffa and Carter. Beautifully decorated, much thought has been placed into even the smallest detail. The enclosed benches at the entrance were a welcomed respite from the hot sun!

Nikolas M.

Yelp
I dare someone to find a better cup of coffee in the city. Just lucked out with having this so close to home. It'd be worth a 20 min walk every morning. Americano's are legendary - by far the best I've had anywhere in Toronto. Brewed coffee is damn good too - partial to the Hendrix. Pastry's are incredible - just wish they had the same selection on the weekend.

Bojan P.

Yelp
Decently priced high quality of coffee. There is usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly. Around 5 minute wait. There are a few benched outside in front of the entrance (still on property), and there are a few tables inside (they are usually taken).

Mazen R.

Yelp
I've always like to come and study in this coffee shop because of its cozy and friendly atmosphere. After ordering the coffee I sat in a perfect little corner but found one of the many light fixtures in that room was too bright and hit me directly in the face. I asked one of the baristas if it's ok to dim or shut it off and she was ok with it. Minutes later the other blonde barista who prepared my coffee came and switched back one. After I told her that I asked to shut that light off which didn't make any difference because there were 2 other fixtures that fully lit the place. She rudely refused and said the owner doesn't like it and I can call him if I wanted to. I gathered my things and decided to head to a nearby starbucks where baristas there are friendlier. Never coming here again. The end.

Be F.

Yelp
The only thing better than this Jimmy's, with its awesome staff, cool back room and delicious bevy options, is the mirror Jimmy's that just opened across the street! No doubt this will help cut down on those crazy morning lineups. Just reserve my seat on the sweet new back patio, will you? I don't want to regret that I told you about this!

Jean Francois P.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffeeshop in the Fashion District. The staff is amazing, the people that hang out there are amazing and the coffee is out of this world. They serve coffee, cold drinks, baked goods,pre-made salads and sandwiches and all of it is good. My personal favorite are their toffee chocolate chip cookies and tablerone cookies. Going back to how amazing the staff is, there's been numerous mornings in which I was super tired from partying the night before and they were were able to put a smile on my face and the coffee would sometime be on the house. Unfortunately there's not alot of seating in the front but there's a couple of tables in the back. When the weather permits, there's a few seats in the from that you can use to people watch and to just enjoy your coffee and there's also a patio in back and it's a great little sanctuary that allows you to escape the stress of city life. Like I said, it's the best coffeeshop in the neighborhood and I would highly recommend that you go check it out one day.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Been here a few times over the summer and recently again a few days ago. I stopped coming over the summer as I discovered Bar Buca down the road. This review is based off of my most recent visit. Friendly service at the cash. Was informed that a double and single espresso shot is the same price which I wasn't aware of before. I ordered a double latte and my boyfriend ordered a double cappuccino. The barista had absolutely no idea what a latte and cappuccino is. After he frothed the milk, he made the cappuccino and then directly poured the milk into the latte. I tasted both of the coffees afterward (curiosity kills the cat) to see if there was a difference... nope there wasn't. There personally was too much foam for me, and would have ordered a cappuccino if I wanted more foam. Overall the coffee was okay and the service was good.

L ..

Yelp
You walk in and feel like you're in your grandmother's old rickety house, except that there's a chap with an accent behind the counter waiting to call you an idiot for breathing a certain way, and thus destroying that potentially satisfying ambience. Aside from the questionable customer service (not sure if he's still even there, as I have not been there in a while), the coffee and pastries are excellent. Take this 4/5, and in exchange, get rid of the condescending boy.

Rhoy P.

Yelp
I always go to Jimmy's at Gerard location and I always enjoy my experience (coffee itself and customer service). I passed by Portland location yesterday on the way to a meeting and ordered a Cortado with an extra shot. The barista "reminded" me in a condescending tone that a Cortado already has a double. So I politely said I know and I need the extra shot for my meeting. He then proceeded to tell me, again in a condescending tone, that they use cream on their Cortado. In to which I politely replied that I know. I thought that was the end of it. But no, he started running his mouth off! He started complaining how some people come in to Jimmy's and order coffee without knowing what they are ordering and they order coffee just because it sounds fancy. I'm pretty sure that's what he was thinking when I ordered my coffee. Expect good coffee from this place but be wary of this barista. I prefer the Gerard location for their friendly staff.

Martino D.

Yelp
Great coffee at market prices and a nice selection of snacks as well. What really makes this place though is the ambience of its Portland Street location. I feel like I am having coffee in someone's century old home. This location has lots of space and is a great place to meet up for a coffee with friends or to get out on your own for a couple of hours.

Laurie H.

Yelp
Really good coffee, arguably the best in Toronto. But like a previous reviewer commented, the British guy who works here is not the best ambassador of the place and should probably try to be less offensive and intrusive. I was there for no more than 10 minutes, during which he peered over at my phone and commented on a personal text, clicked his tongue at me when I didn't order quick enough and loudly berated customers, customer's orders, the Starbuck's Unicorn Frappaccino and the Ritual app. The coffee is good but I hesitate to return because who has time to deal with the guaranteed negativity and unwelcome commentary?

V. S.

Yelp
It was a diminutive sandwich board on King Street that pointed me in the direction of Jimmy's. It's a wee squeeze of a place that at 10 am was busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. A dim room in the back is more chill, which some benches, granite-topped tables, a wall-mounted TV blasting CP24, magazines, a few inconveniently located outlets and a petite window as the main source of light. My Americano was top-drawer except that it was served in a glass tumbler with a odd-fitting felt sleeve (it almost seemed like a repurposed wristband). But I had fair warning from the staff on this issue. No worries. Oh, the muffins are delicious, btw. I will be coming back. Obligatory Title Rhyme: Why do Timmy's when there's JIMMY'S? (No pun this time, sorry.) Menu Readability: Hand-written menu on an overhead chalkboard. Nicely done. Need to mention: There is a patio out back. What this place teaches me about myself: It took me a while to figure out why there were photos of Jim Morrison, Jimmy Hendrix, and Jimmy Page mounted against the exposed brick interior wall. (I'm sloooow.)

Gina L.

Yelp
Such a lovely little coffeehouse - the employees are as warm and pleasant as their brews :) happy to have this so close to the office!

Kelly O.

Yelp
Wow...this place IS amazing. I had a large medium roast drip to go, which was delicious and smooth, and not at all burned tasting. I also got a salted brownie (or some such name), and IT IS AMAZING. The brownie base is SUPER moist, fudgy and chocolatey, and to further blow my mind, there is a slightly crunchy top, which isn't icing, but like a crisp salty layer of some kind. It really IS f*ing awesome. Like homemade, but better! All this for only $4.10! The atmosphere is great too, and its a safe little spot to tie up the dog while I went in to order...and they have a lovely patio perfect for the impending summer season! Go there!!!!

Crystal H.

Yelp
They keep the nutella croissant an "open air" secret. It's there. Perched right next to the regular croissants, but there's no sign distinguishing it from the regular croissant. Only an insider would know. (Thanks to Vivek S for his insider knowledge). A mass line forms and fades away faster than you would think. The baristas have it down to an artistic science. And my double shot americano proved that point. Loved that it came in glass complete with a knitted rainbow sleeve. As for the famed nutella croissant. It's a smart invention. Forget a chocolate croissant whose insides stiffen once cooled, a nutella stays spreadable, yet not melted for your eating pleasure! But I don't think it can hold a candle to my true love, an almond croissant. Other than that - all I can say is "Yay Jimmy - you lit my fire!" PS. Cash and debit only.

Yelp
I'm updating this review +1 star to tell you about a good customer service experience. Max, the manager of Jimmy's PMd me after I wrote my first (2 star) review of Jimmy's, and totally took ownership of my less than amazing coffee. He invited me back for round II on the house to make it right. Good use of Yelp.ca by a local business, good overall customer service strategy and his note left me with good vibes all around.
