Stopped in around Noon, plenty of seating. Friendly environment. Ordered breakfast noticing everyone else ordering breakfast. Got the country fried steak, was phenomenal absolutely puts chain restaurants to shame. Thanks for the good eats!

My wife and I finally got to Jimmy’s and we are glad we did. The 1st thing my wife said when we arrived was, “WOW, everything is clean and shiny! Even the air vets on the ceiling were dust free!” It didn’t stop there though, we talked to Jimmy, Beth and Cricket and they were all super nice and down-to-earth people! The food was great! We had breakfast and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious! So much food too! I highly recommend this spot during the week as they are closed on weekends! We can’t wait to go back!

My daughter & I went here for the first time today. The quantity wasn’t really there for the price, but the quality most definitely was!! My food was really good. My daughter said hers was too, besides her burger was quite greasy soaking through the bread the patties were sitting on. Customer service was fantastic!! It’s a nice little family oriented place. Overall pretty good to us!! We give it 4.5-4.7⭐️s

We happened upon this special little place on the way from Indiana to Wisconsin. We got to the diner about 40 minutes before closing time and we were told very sweetly to have a seat! Our server was so kind and so fun! I had a BIG breakfast consisting of a waffle, 2 scrambled eggs, home fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, buttered toast, sausage links, and bacon... whew!! And every bite was DELICIOUS. While we were paying the Hubbs noticed they had banana pudding. He got some to go, and a day later I'm still hearing about how amazing it was! (Obviously better than the banana pudding I make. Oh well. Lol.) Anyway... if you're in the area, give this place a visit. You'll be happy you did!

I had the pleasure of having brunch here today with my son, who is himself an Army Veteran. Very proud of my son. Me, my son and his work buddy had a wonderful brunch. The food was good, the place was clean and the service was great. Nice little Diner stop here anytime. I’ll be back when I’m on this side of town for sure.

I've struggled about leaving a review, but this wasn't right. We seek out Diner type restaurants - decided to try Jimmy's. My son ordered a tenderloin sandwich and asked if he could have okra as a side. When the bill came, we were charged $13 for the sandwich and $4 for the okra. I explained that he got the okra instead of the fries. Cashier said sorry, and still charged the $17 for a sandwich and side. I guess live and learn but definitely won't be back.

Stopped in for a bite to eat at lunchtime and was not disappointed. The friendly staff were helpful and attentive. The menu was extensive and there was plenty of tasty sounding dishes to choose from. I had the tenderloin which was well cooked and the breadcrumb coating crisp. I highly recommend this place for a good meal at very reasonable prices.

Great food and really nice folks. I had the JJ special, which is great if you are super hungry and want a massive breakfast. i’ll definitely be back.

This place is so cute. And has great pictures of Indianapolis back in the Day. The service is very welcoming with a down home feel. My potatoes were perfect, eggs exactly like I ordered, bacon delicious and crispy. They have Rye toast! I spilled my water and they were so gracious. However I did finish my meal before I got another after asking. Totally recommend this place.

The food costs have raised. Which is fine is the food was as good as it used to be but it's really gone down hill in my opinion. Service is always some slow older woman who can only do one thing at a time and forgets stuff constantly. The inside is a mix and feels like someone grandma who can't decide on a theme. Now with Trump stickers. I also witnessed Jimmy walking out the front door to hand someone their food in the car. To then walk right back in and start immediately cooking not changing his gloves or washing his hands after touching the door. The wife is also unbearable always being dramatic and constantly talking about being barked at when someone asks her a question. Who knows maybe you'll enjoy it but I won't be back.

We always look for a hometown diner for breakfast because owners take pride in the food they make. Jimmys was no exception to this. Food was great and as ordered and delivered to our table from the cook/owner (I believe). Great experience and would definitely stop there again on our way back through.

This is a small mom and pop dinner located off the beaten path, just down the street from UIndy. It was fun how I found this place. I was just driving down the street looking for a place to eat lunch and I passed this place and it had a sign out front that said Sloppy Joes. I was like, I don't mind if I do. This place has a small dining area with a few booths and tables. They definitely have their regulars because I was the only person there that was not on a first name basis with the staff there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Luckily, I caught them just before they closed and was able to sit and eat in. They have you typical dinner food with daily specials. The special, the day I was there, was, yep, you guessed it, sloppy joes. Their food is very reasonably priced. I ordered a sloppy joes, which came with fries. I took about 5 minutes for them to prepare it and it was fresh and hot. There was so much 'sloppy' on my joe that I could not really make it a sandwich and had to did in with a knife and fork. It was one of the best sloppy joes I have had. The meat was very flavorful. I am still thinking about it. I highly recommend checking this place out. It is a hidden gem that I was lucky to stumble upon. I will definitely be back soon.

So, my hubby and mother in law & myself went here today! It's a cozy neighborhood diner and I'm here for it! I got breakfast and the hubby got a burger and tater tots my mother in law got French toast. It is truly comfort food and a comfort setting! Service was in the great words of JJ Evans "dynomite." Sorry I wish I would've taken photos of our plates but I was hongry so I'll be sure to take photos the next time we visit! Which will be soon! I told the hubby I wish we lived closer because I would never cook we would just go to the diner for breakfast/lunch and maybe even dinner! So check them out whenever you're on the south side of Indy!

I love Jimmy's Diner. Simple, good food, quick and nice service with prices that you can afford. I've had breakfast and lunch here many times and have always had good food. Keep it up Jimmy's!

I've been here a few times. Small restaurant with really good food. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The service is quick and the servers have always been polite. I particularly like the country ham breakfast. Although they don't always have it available. Otherwise, Cracker Barrel is the only other place I've found it. Trust me when I say, id much rather eat at Jimmy's.

The chili dogs at Jimmy's Diner are awesome. The hot dog is wonderful & the coney sauce is very good! I had shredded cheese on mine- yum! As always, nice people & good food...keeps us coming back!

I went to Jimmy's Diner on a whim while I was near the U Indy campus for breakfast. It's a no-frills restaurant, but the food was good. Our waitress was really nice as well. I had the corned beef hash. It came with large home fry style potatoes, so next time I would probably order hashbrowns instead. My husband got an omelette and the eggs were cooked very nicely. They weren't overdone or crunchy. I will definitely be back.

It's not good enough to be local, you've got to be good, too. Luckily, this place has both in generous supply. Owned by a husband and wife team (including the building), this place is as local and as south side as it gets. I'd strongly recommend the country fried steak or tenderloin for breakfast. The hash brown casserole that they make daily is delicious. Try both with a side of Texas toast and you won't be disappointed. After COVID, the quality is just the same as it ever was.

The atmosphere of the diner is laid back. Everyone from the owners to the waitress is friendly. The food is delicious with no complaints. I look forward to returning.

This little gem was a great find. Tucked away near the UIndy campus, this diner has a great homey feel and great food. It is nice to know that our son has a good quality yet affordable option to campus dining. The owners are very friendly and they seem to have a regular crowd, which tells you the food must be consistently good. Will definitely eat here again.

I have been going to Jimmy's for several years and have NEVER had a bad experience. Always friendly and food is always great! I expect to experience a dinner vibe that is homey and comfortable to me Jimmy's has it

I've driven by this place dozens of times and didn't even know it was there even though this tiny neighborhood diner sits on the corner. I came on recommendation from my brother who raves about Jimmy's. Parking is a little limited but sufficient for the amount of tables. Once inside, if you don't look outside, you're transported to a small town diner with old school country vibes. We came in for breakfast around 10 AM on a Saturday. They were pretty busy but there was a table near the door so we sat ourselves. The menu is pretty extensive for a small place with a one man griddle station. We settled on biscuits and gravy and a bacon egg and cheese biscuit with hash browns for the each of us. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best I've had at a restaurant. The gravy is well seasoned and the biscuits were homemade. Hubby's breakfast sandwich was perfectly cooked with an over medium egg. Our entire bill was under $20. We will for sure be going back, maybe every weekend.

This was my first time coming as I'm new in town. Service was quick and friendly, coffee was pretty good, the food was phenomenal and came out pretty quick despite the place being busy. Jimmy and JJ (owners) are fine, good people, and you can tell that by how they treat and interact with anyone that comes through their door. Will definitely be coming here again!!

Solid home cookin' on the South Side! I had a delicious huge breakfast for like $11! (JJ's Special) It featured two eggs, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, toast, 1/2 a biscuit and gravy AND a pancake! Definitely shareable! I enjoyed looking into the kitchen and noted how well it was organized and clean. Friendly staff, they take credit cards, very unassuming from the outside. I'll be back for sure!

Nice mom and pop place clean service was great I had the biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns and my friend had a cheeseburger with onion rings onion rings were crispy and the cheeseburger was good and thick biscuits and gravy were good. Priced very reasonable I'll go back again

Found this place while traveling through Indiana on the way to Chicago. Easy stop, not too far from the interstate with plenty of parking. Nice staff, fast service, and great breakfast (with an extensive menu). The hash brown casserole is almost as good as my homemade version! I'd definitely stop here again my next time through!

Love it! This is a great local diner on the south side of Indy. Jimmy's is located just north of the University of Indianapolis campus and is everything a local joint should be: friendly service, good food and affordable prices. I enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger and a bowl of hobo stew for less than $10. Hard to hear that and both were delicious. Like every good diner, Jimmy's also serves all day breakfast. I'm already planning a future trip...

I knew that I wanted to snag a Yelp review today, a day off from work and a surprisingly warm and sunny day in Indy for early October. While I considered snagging a new restaurant, the simple truth is I didn't want to spend a ton and I really just wanted to hang out and be comfortable. So, I looked up the "cheap eats" search options on Yelp and noticed Jimmy's Diner, a place I'd seen before but had never visited. I really wanted to head to the Southside anyway, so I decided to drive by Jimmy's and check it out. I have a strong affection for the neighborhood that Jimmy's is in - when I first became independent, I lived for about a year in a retirement village about two blocks away. While the area has grown up considerably, it still has a casual warmth and working class feeling to it. Jimmy's Diner is definitely on the "dive" end of the scale, a no-frills kinda joint not too far from a place like Joe's down the street. It may remind some folks of a place like Oasis, but Oasis is pretty touristy and has definitely been decorated to be a destination spot. Jimmy's, on the other hand, is really just a neighborhood diner. Jimmy's has the look of a place that has been around forever, but it has actually only been open since 2016. It sits on a street corner, a decent-sized parking lot offers two accessible spots and ample other places that should make parking easy for most folks. There's a gently inclining ramp into the restaurant - it's not quite ADA, but it's pretty workable. I was able to open the glass door that leads into the dining area without any problem. There's a handful of booth/table options and a lunch counter. The dining room is fairly well packed in, but those in wheelchairs shouldn't have too much of a problem unless it's truly packed. My arrival around 1:30pm created almost no problem finding an appropriate space. It may seem weird, especially for someone who takes critical reviews seriously, to give a no-frills diner a 5-star rating. Let me explain. First off, if you need everything to be shiny and new this is not the place for you. It's an old school diner. While one review commented on it being dirty, that wasn't my experience. The floor/carpeting is pretty worn and kind of grubby, but the rest of the restaurant is pretty close to spotless. I would consider it clean and comfortable. It's simply decorated, a combination of neighborhood photos, kitschy diner decor, and a few quiet, truly subtle symbols of faith. There's a television over by the lunch counter, while a chalkboard advertises the daily specials. I truly felt quite comfortable. I really loved my server, though I never caught her name. She was super friendly, very real, and made sure I got a couple refills of iced tea. She seemed in no rush to get me out the door - a surprise and absolute delight for someone who wanted a quiet lunch. The menu is mostly breakfast/lunch items and their all served all day. They have a pretty broad menu of both breakfast and lunch items - I didn't get the sense that they specialized in one or the other. There's even a statement on the menu that if they have the ingredients they'll try to accommodate your taste buds. I thought that was cool. I was tempted to try a tenderloin, but I ended up going with a burger, fries and my usual unsweetened iced tea. The burger was made from obviously fresh beef on a lightly toasted bun - certainly not gourmet size, but a decent burger. The fries were crinkle cut - again, not a humongous order size but perfectly fair and a terrific value. As has been noted, the prices here are almost stunningly low. I ate for under a ten spot. I actually ate for considerably under a ten spot. I could have added a piece of pie and still been slightly under $10. Seriously. While it's possible to go over $10, it's the exception and not the rule. They do take credit cards and they do have free wifi. They have single-user bathrooms that looked fairly accessible, though I did not actually use one. In a lot of neighborhood diners, you can easily feel like an outsider. I never did. My server was incredible, Jimmy was mostly behind the counter cooking but friendly, and most of the customers were also friendly. So, that's the 5-star rating. I loved everything about this experience from the food to the service to the atmosphere and the efforts at accessibility. I'd easily go back, which would be out of the way for me, and am already thinking "When can I go back?" So, if you're comfy with a casual neighborhood dive then Jimmy's Diner is definitely a worthy stop.

This place doesn't really look like much, but wow!! The food was really great, the service was amazing and everyone was super nice, the owner was very nice and this place is super clean. We will be back again. The price was reasonable as well.

This no-frills diner has fast & tasty diner food. The menu prices are insanely cheap. 1 egg is 75¢! A breakfast sandwich is $3! It was pretty tasty and I loved the crispy potatoes aka home fries. Sit at the bar to be entertained by the incredible multitasking skills of Jimmy as he cooks ALL the orders. It was mesmerizing. Service was very pleasant. The entire staff checked on us to ensure we had what we needed throughout our meal. It's a friendly place with "regulars" that come in and chat with the staff like old pals. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in the mood for greasy diner food!

I'm rating this as a what is is....a serious pearl of the 'Greasy Spoon' genre. First, I was concerned with the allegation that Covid-19 safety measures were not in practice and I called to check. After reassurance and upon arrival, I found the negative claims to be false. Jimmy's is owned and operated by Jimmy and his wife and provide a wide range of breakfast and lunch menu options with something to satisfy every taste. A real local foodie dive...I mean it! Good coffee, excellent omelets, nicely grilled hash browns and very well seasoned biscuits and gravy (though I also add sauce). My interest was piqued by the review for Hobo Stew and, though early (8a), I was hopeful that this lunch item was ready. OMG! Did I say OMG? It is an awesome bowl of super, piping hot, thick, chili-like yummy, tummy-satisfying ecstasy on a spoon. Seriously...check it out.

This is a classic diner ran by friendly folks. If you're looking for an old-school place where you can get an omelet or biscuits and gravy, this is it. There's nothing fancy here, but if you want a diner you don't want fancy. Prices are very readable too. Strong recommend for that classic diner vibe, and the food is good too!

My fiancé and I were looking for a new place to try and ended up at Jimmy's diner! First, let me just say Jimmy and our server are very kind and I would come back just because of that. Food was great and very reasonably priced. Definitely will be returning and I hope they'll have some more blackberry cobbler, I was too full to try it tonight!

Nice little mom & pop style diner. Friendly, courteous staff and fast service. The floor looked like it could stand to be swept, but we came in early afternoon so it was probably just after the lunch rush. Otherwise the place was clean. The portions are substantial and the prices are good. Jimmy, the owner and cook, came out from behind the counter to ask how everything was. I had the chili and my wife had the hobo stew, both very good. For the main course, I had the 8 ounce bacon cheeseburger and she had the breaded flounder sandwich (both with fries). Also very good. I look forward to coming back to try the rest of the menu, like the onion rings (sold out today) and their 16 ounce Jimmy burger.

have never been here. needed something quick for breakfast while working in the office. this was only a mile away. called and placed my order. i got the "JJ's SPECIAL". the food is good for a small diner on the side of the road. the biscuits and gravy were very flavorful. the sausage was a little burnt and over cooked but still decent. the french toast was perfect and they even provided a small thing of syrup to pour over. didn't even try the home fries because i was so full! the toast was so buttery and good. 4 stars because no masks, gloves or social distancing.

I have gotten take out from here a couple times. It's always been quick and easy. The waitress on duty is a seasoned one so the service is good just not at warp speed. The cook/ owner is always friendly. Greets me as I enter. Mind you I generally order at off peak times so it's easy for him to chat with me for a moment. The food is good. I have only had breakfast but have never been disappointed. In fact, I appreciate how close they are to downtown with reasonable prices. Sometimes a girl doesn't want to pay $15 for breakfast. In fact $10 will get you a big enough breakfast you can have left overs for lunch. Looking forward to checking them out for dinner soon! This is a no frills, diner. Reminds me of diner back on the east coast. I am happy to have this place only a few miles away. Go check them out when you want diner food or when you wallet needs a break from the $15-$20 brunch spots downtown.

After reading several GOOD reviews online, we decided to stop by and try dinner. The grilled tenderloin was excellent! Philly Steak was TASTY! Friendly staff (owner). Getting ready to try the Irish Cream bread pudding... Looking forward to trying breakfast!
