Jimmy's Grand Cafe

I really enjoyed my time at the restaurant. This is my 2nd time visiting, and it won't be the last. The service and the food are great. No complaints from my end. The food portions are perfect.

In terms of decor, space and setup this is probably one best in the bronx. Even though they have a wide variety of food options I think food is very average level. "DO NOT GET THE DOMINICAN BREAKFAST❗❗ that you see in the menu booklet, its a rip off it looks nothing like that when it comes out, very misleading and disappointing. The salmon crockets are not even salmon taste like tuna or they mix the salmon with something else it was awful too soft on the inside and lacked flavour❗also, the coconut coquito french toast was underwhelming. It didnt taste remotely close to what the menu describe. Everything else just tastes ok, nothing special.

I will always recommend this place. I come here for alot of different occasions and they have never disappointed me. The food, desserts and drinks are amazing. This place is also kid friendly. They can accommodate a big group of people as well.

Loved this place. Food was sooo good especially the pasta 😍. Service was professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend for solos, dates, families, businesses lunches or events. And the prices were not bad at all. My sister and I went on a Friday afternoon around 2pm. Parking is a little bit of a pain though but there are metered parking and street parking if you can find one. They have a small parking lot but I think it only accommodated like 8 cars.

TRASH! Save your money and actually spend it where there will be at the bare minimum good customer service. We paid $65 a head to eat clumpy pancakes and frozen food. They stiff you with the unlimited drinks that never came. While the servers, a spanish blond girl and an Indian guy kept giving out the horriple service of he will bring drinks to she will bring the drinks swap stories. Have some respect for your hard earned $ and do not spend it here. TRASHY AND DISRESPECTFUL!

Food was delicious nice cozy restaurant and our sever was prompt and friendly

I was disappointed with my dish of French toast and corn beef hash. Which was made with regular white bread, not challah. Also, the hash was overcooked and not tasty. The other people in my party enjoyed their meals.

Update: I went back recently and all the seats were upgraded and new. Makes me feel like they take their customers reviews seriously. Even if it wasn't because of my previous review, I appreciate the change. Also, my waitor Julio was excellent. The decor could use an upgrade. The chairs looked a bit dingy. But the food was outstanding and the service was quick. I would definitely come back.

I've been going to Jimmy's for about 9 years now. The ambiance is great the have tv, the music is great. The service and the staff is very friendly. The Spanish and the American food is to die for. The prices are nit bad. You have to try the cheese cake. My favorite is Pernil with rice and gandules with potato salad. If you are near there you must drop in.

Stopped by for brunch with the family. First the service was very good the server she was extremely attentive and very nice. Food a thumbs very good food and and everyone in my party enjoyed there dish. Location decorated very nicely. The only delta was the noise very loud in thw restaurant. Overall very nice experience definitely would go back and reccomend.

Jimmys Grand Cafe is an excellent restaurant. Their food is always amazing and so is the service. When I come, I usually order the churrasco steak with rice, and it is always a 10/10! Their breakfast and lunch dishes are also always a 10/10. The ambiance always puts you in a good mood and makes sure you have a good meal.

Came here on Mother's Day. The one positive was the service, the manager and wait staff were very attentive. The negative was the food. Everything was clearly prepackaged frozen food. I got the Dominican burger (the patty was clearly a frozen patty), my son had the chicken nuggets and French fries (the nuggets were also clearly frozen), my mother got the chicken Madeira she said the chicken was overcooked but the flavor was good. I am one who always cuts my burgers in half and I ate the first half and when I started the second half I took one bite and placed it upside down on my plate and that's when I noticed mold on the bottom bun of my burger. My server got the manager immediately. The manager came and she goes these buns are fresh and I respond clearly not. They did take the burger off my bill, but we will definitely not be going back. If you go make sure you check your food and make sure it's safe to eat. I've attached a picture of the mold on the burger.

Ive been wanting to eat from here for a while now. First time ordering from here and I was let down. I had ordered a grilled chicken cutlet hero with lettuce, tomato, mayo, well done bacon, cheddar cheese and avocado slices on the side. With a side of truffle fries. Sadly my truffle fries weren't throughly fried which then made them soggy, my bread was soggy & my avocado slices were inside of my hero. When I went to look for them they were not put to the side and they were already brown. I had called the restaurant and the manager wants to tell me that she wasn't aware that I wanted avocado slices on the side and that she was there when they opened a fresh avocado. That manager must have been lying or doesn't know what a fresh avocado is. It was brown and mushy as hell. She said she could give me credit for whenever I come in person. Good thing for GrubHub for helping me with that issue because credit for a restaurant that I won't be going to isn't going to help me.

A surprising gem just a brick toss from the Bruckner. As a driver, patronizing some establishments bring anxiety due to the lack of adequate parking. I was trying to decide if double parking could work or if I could chance a partial hydrant block when we realized they had their own parking lot! SCORE! The "We" wanted a quick girls breakfast we literally had 40 minutes. Not only was our service prompt, the server personable, the food good, the interior is beautiful. I had the Belgian waffle w/ ice cream, fruit and whipped cream w/ a side of bacon. I totally recommend it. Will be coming here again

This luxurious corner diner has an vivacious dinner menu. The best dinner I chose is the Fried Fillet Deluxe and it tastes crunchy! HDTV sets prepare NFL football, NBA Basketball games galore and a stairway to its 2nd floor!

Food is really good. Ambiance is quite nice, nice tunes and people seem to enjoy this place. I think the service has been good consistently, which is very important for a good dining experience.

I'm in the Bronx! I have to admit my friend was telling me a story and I spaced out staring at the interior. It's what I imagine a dining room on a future space ship (think USS Enterprise, Wall-E, or SpaceX) would look like for some reason. Coconut French toast hit the diner breakfast button for me.

I just ate another meal from here I got a burger curly fries and beef empanadas and they were absolutely amazing and hot when I received it from the driver

My coworker hosted a Retirement Brunch at Jimmy's Grand Cafe. The food was good, but the service was terrible. One waitress, Ms. Sofia, was unpleasant and acted like she was in charge, walking around with an off-putting attitude. The staff started packing the food by 3:00 pm, even though the reservation was from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. This disrupted the event and was done without consulting my coworker. When I questioned Ms. Sofia, she was rude. I spoke to the manager, Ms. Abby, who said they were supposed to start cleaning and packing food an hour before the event ended. However, she falsely claimed she was present at 3:00 pm and insisted they couldn't have started early. This was not true, as she wasn't there at 3:00 pm. As a result, late-arriving guests had no food. Overall, despite the good food, the poor service and early packing up of food significantly marred the celebration. I would never do an event in that place or go eat there again. So when anyone rent the place for an event make sure that they don't pack your food and try to throw you out fase. Nasty and terrible

Never have a bad experience when I come here! The food and drinks are always on point! The wait staff always attentive and helpful. And the place is always clean. I would recommend anything on the menu, but my extra recommendation would be the coconut coquito french toast!! (Insert greedy moan here) make your way to Jimmy's you won't be disappointed!!

Service is good, venue is clean and nice, drinks and food items are standard for a diner. I ordered a burger inspired by the tres golpes ingredients and it was to die for. I need to go back bc the cheese and onion combo was bombastic in the best way. The yuca fried tho tasted like old oil so I had to doc a star for that.

Sunday my family ordered take out from Jimmy's Grand Cafe and order Pernil for my dinner and to share with company on my Birthday!! The prices have increased from a Delicious $20 succulent meal to a Disappointing $27 disastrous meal of DRIED OUT PERNIL.....unfortunately due to being famished and having no recourse since it was late I decided not to call that evening.... Yes my error but I did call today to alert management about the failure of Jimmy's to remain consistent.....I TELL THOSE WHO ORDER ANY PERNIL OR FOR ANY MEAL AS A TAKE OUT....PLEASE BEWARE OF THE MEAL AND REACT IMMEDIATELY!!! Otherwise it could be a major FAILURE!!!

Great food. Nice vibe. A Bronx classic. Service is fast. Stays open late so also good for takeout orders if you can't dine in.

Soooo many people come here and hype this place up.... I just want to know, whyyyy????? "What was the reason!" I remember when Jimmy's was on white plains road. I think I went there once or twice and it wasn't the best food option even then but a relative loved going so we went. This time a friend choose to go here for our relocation spot due to the heat The star rating is for the service and the drinks. The place was fairly empty and we were seated at a spot near the service door and wanted to move. Also it was a hot day we wanted to spread out and be comfortable. We asked if we could move and at first we were told that the table we wanted to move to was for a party of 6.... Then some other guy said yes because it was empty. They only had one table that fits a party of 6 I guess. Not to mention when walking in there were parties of 2 sitting in all the other booths I'm sure was meant for more than just two people. But okay moving on First we had the Jack Honey Mango which was good and then I switched up and asked if they can do a Piña colada and put Mango in it, which they seemed a little stumped on how to make. Then they wanted to know if I still wanted it to have alcohol.. Yes!?? I just wanted a little extra flavor lol. The food was nothing to brag about and lacked flavor, which is disappointing considering this is known to be a Spanish restaurant. The ancestors would not be pleased with those servings, just saying. Unless they only put effort into the plates of certain guests, because it looked like a good bunch of people came by and just walked in and out the back like they were part of the staff.... Maybe they were but it was a lot of door action... For food our table spread consisted of the chicharrón de pollo and coconut shrimp for appetizers, coconut french toast with coquito sauce, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, beef sausage links, steak de palomilla, fried egg and hash browns. On my end, for the chicharrón some parts were more bone than meat it was like they gave a good 5 of just mostly bone pieces and then like 3 pieces with meat. The Calypso sauce it came with was a good match though. I was so disappointed with the French toast. I mean majorly disappointed. The coquito sauce was like I just poured plain milk on my French toast so I had french toast con coco y leche. They overused the coconut which I guess was to cover us the dry bread. The beef sausage link seemed fine. It was beef and not pork thankfully! The eggs were scrambled, not seasoning and then cheddar cheese was just melted on top in a huge clump. For my friend she said the steak definitely needed A1 sauce and the hash browns needed ketchup salt and pepper. I don't recall how she said she liked the shrimp but she ate all of it. The waitress was fine. She thought it odd I asked for syrup and brought out extra "coquito" sauce but that wasn't fixing the French toast. I initially thought about ordering a gyro and curly fries to go but after having the main meal I knew it would have been a waste. There was a guy who cleaned up the tables and offered water who was very nice. So a star for the drinks a star for the waitress and one for the cleanup guy. Oh btw they have the cc logos in the window but right next to it a sign that says they aren't accepting credit cards at this time. There is an ATM inside but who knows what those fees may look like.

Came in today to just grab a coffee to go. They only serve drip coffee It taste like shit but I didn't die. The manager and staff were very nice and welcoming Maybe I'll return to try the food. Can't make promises.

Classic diner with the ability to elevate the experience. Great food and service. Been going for years and no matter who is cooking or service the experience is always on point.

It was my first time to Jimmys's cafe, I was super excited I had heard wonderful things about this place so I was ready to enjoy. However, when I sat at the bar with my friend, we were greeted and served drinks. The bartender/waitress the proceeded to take my friends food order and walked away to put the order in, I was confused. She walked back and didn't say a word. I told my friend that was a bad first impression and I wasn't going to stay to eat. Which was super unfortunate because I was HUNGRY and welling to spend my money.I went to the restroom, my friend told the bartender/waitress what she had done, when I came back she said she was sorry. That's it, I paused for a second to see if she would proceed to fix the situation and she didn't. I even had to pay for my drinks and left. That was an example of poor customer service, she could have simply said "I'll get that order in now" "here's a drink on the house or I'll get your order in" "I sincerely apologize let's make this right" no she clearly didn't want to fix the situation. It is unfortunate and I will not be returning to Jimmy's cafe.

I was really hoping that I would enjoy this place. However, it's not that good. The food was just OK, the people there are not mean, but just not sensitive to your needs. So, I don't know if I would recommend this place maybe if you just want to get a quick bite and get out as quickly as possible. Not the best diner.

I was walking by and decided I'm not cooking tonite let me get some wings. So on the mine they have baby chicken wings. I do not like baby chicken wings. The waitress informed me they have Grand chicken wings so I made two orders one with mango sauce the other with whiskey barbecue sauce. The place is a party atmosphere and everything is clean clean clean. They have an upstairs where all you hear is the laughter of people enjoying themselves. I love it.

When ever I'm in the Castle Hill area I always stop at Jimmy's. The staff is great and the food is really good. It's also a good place to have a event pre COVID-19. They are following all of the COVID requirements. Limited seating, social distancing, mask and they provide hand sanitizer.

My boyfriend and I had lunch here on a Tuesday. As soon as we walked in we were greeted, seated and given menus. Our waiter was a pleasure, making sure we had everything we needed. I opted for the Chicken Scampi w/rice & my boyfriend had the Pernil. I also had a passion mojito which was sooo good with the perfect amount of alcohol. My chicken scampi was good as well. What I love the most about Jimmy's is the portion size. You always have more than enough to take home and snack on later.

Jimmy's Grand Cafe in the Bronx, on Castle Hill Avenue, is absolutely superb in their food, service, atmosphere, and pricing. The restaurant is the hidden gem of the Bronx. This was my third time there and the experience only continues to get better! The spacing is great, they have the music going, their food options are awesome, and their ambiance is wonderful whatever the occasion is, date night, family night, any time, excellent restaurant. You won't be disappointed!

My boyfriend and I craved a less congested spot to park and dine to escape the horrific city life of Manhattan. I came across this cool, trendy cafe and I'm so glad that we did. My boyfriend could be a bit particular, as am I, & this was a great, comfortable spot to unravel! Service is spot on and the food was delicious. If you're looking for a calm and attentive spot to dine to get away from NYC, choose Jimmy's!

don't ever go to this place. bad food, drinks are water down and expensive. DONT WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY. this place is a ripoff

I visited on two different occasions once for dinner and once for breakfast and I was impressed both times with food and service. The food is a good portion. The drinks are strong especially that rum punch and everything was well seasoned. The menu is extensive it's so much to choose from so whatever your in the mood for they have you covered. They also have an upstairs so in the event that you need to do a private party they can accommodate that as well. Overall I had a good time and will definitely visit again.

After coming here prior with a large group. This was our second visit for Brunch and I will never return. After eating our food we noticed a Roach crawling on the booth. Other waiters noticed this and saw when we killed it and said nothing. To make matters better the manager on site only apologized and never returned to our table. They also went on to say this thing can happen and can be brought from the outside. Either way they were just not considerate and could careless. I will never come here again.

I had returned to this establishment for a second time for brunch with friends and this time was horrible. After eating our food, we noticed a cockroach crawling up our booth. The waiters standing by the kitchen noticed us react and kill it and said nothing, but rather walked away as if they didn't notice. We then proceeded to inform our waiter and he then told the "manager" who simply apologized. He didn't even offer to accommodate or try to make things right and even tried saying it was possibly from other patrons in the restaurant. I will NEVER return here again as they are not considerate to their patrons!

Please dont put American cheese on your quesadilla anymore! You switched it from cheddar and it taste horrible. I just wasted $20!

I visited this restaurant with some family members and we all believed that our food was a bit undercooked or lacked flavor. I had the The California Chipotle Cheeseburger deluxe ( steak & mash to the left and seafood paella on the right). The restaurant itself is nice and has a second level

Not a great Experience! The food came fast but customer service is bad. The wait never checked up on me.. I wanted to leave but couldn't because no came to the table to see if I was ready to pay... spoke to the manager but he wasn't any help. I don't recommend this restaurant FYI my waiter was standing in the corner with other workers talking and joking around.

Decent food. Friendly staff. Me and my kids always go here whether it be for breakfast or to celebrate a special occasion.

Went to brunch for my nieces birthday today and our waiter Lisandro clearly hates his job he was so dry and unpleasant and I'm all about great customer service so this was disappointing. The food came rather quickly and was delicious for the most part. We paid for the bottomless drinks with the brunch and literally had to track the waiter down every time for a new drink NOT ONCE did he come to the table after taking our order to see if we needed anything or if we had any requests, mind you the restaurant was not that busy as their were other waiters & waitresses standing around. My family and I did notice that not all the wait staff was as unpleasant and dismissive as Lisandro so go at your own risk. Definitely won't be returning regardless of how cute the vibe is or how good the food was when you have waiters like Lisandro.

I had bookmarked Jimmy's Grand Cafe a while back when I noticed a handful of my Yelp friends had dined here and left positive reviews. Since I took off from work today I decided to come here for lunch with my mother. Jimmy's is located at the corner of Castle Hill Ave and Bruckner Blvd - previously it was a restaurant called Joe & Joe's which was owned by the same people (I think). Walking into the restaurant, the place looks great. It has a very modern, cool decor with a dedicated bar area and an upper level with additional seating. It's labeled as a diner but the decor and food offerings are a tad more upscale than what you would find in a typical diner. The menu has a mixture of Latin and American food. They serve breakfast as well as well as weekend brunch, but since we were here for lunch I decided to just go with a sandwich. I chose the Cuban Midnight - pulled pork, ham, Swiss, and mustard on a garlic panini. The sandwich was good - lots of flavor and the perfect size. Fries come standard as a side but I went with a salad instead which was average but good. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my meal. The parking lot is super small, but we didn't have a problem finding street parking. I would definitely come back to try their breakfast and brunch options.

Recommended by a friend. I was pleasantly surprised by the seating and look for the restaurant, it's modern and clean. I ordered the Dominican breakfast which was delicious. The coffee was fresh and service was excellent. My waitress constantly checked in on me and kept the coffee coming. The music was great, Spanish music with all the latest hits. Checking out was fast as well. Looking forward to trying the French toast next time!

Churrasco is my favorite thing to order here! I love this place so much! when you pass by out on the street you see it and think oh this could be a good place to eat! And then you walk in and realize it's even better than a good place to eat! the food here is so amazing and flavorful! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! even the desserts are the best! my favorite dessert from there is probably the rice pudding since it's the best! the rice is always soft and good and so is the flavoring! now the churrasco is the best steak in my opinion there! it's so flavorful and it comes with a. side of rice and beans! and just the whole place in general is nice! they host parties and have a DJ some nights. They have a bar and all the servers throughout the whole restaurant are so sweet and nice!

This was my first time visiting Jimmy's Grand Cafe and it won't be my last... This was originally the old historic Joe and Joe restaurant which was located here for over 60 years... Thanksgiving was super hard to find a place to eat during Covid19... After searching all over the East Bronx I found Jimmy's Grand Cafe... I ended up ordering the Thanksgiving special, what an amazing dinner, this by far was the best turkey dinner... I really didn't know what to expect, my highlight was the cream of turkey soup and the flan which was part of the Thanksgiving dinner special, the food and service was amazing... I highly recommend it!

The place was great. A bit noisy because there was a private party upstairs but the music was good. The variety in the menu was wonderful. The waiter was very polite and welcoming. The place was very clean.

Atrocious service, ok food, nice ambience (albeit a little loud and tacky). Our server came to the table next to us four times while we tried to get her attention and each time she walked back without acknowledging us. The hostesses and other staff were unfriendly and inattentive. The food is decent but nothing special, and definitely not worth the terrible staff. Will not be going back.

Food: not good, just okay We ordered the pastrami sandwich with fries and pork chops with rice and beans. Pastrami Sandwich & Fries - passable Pork Chops - well seasoned, but the rice and beans were extremely bland. The beans tasted as if they just poured them out of a can. Flan - actually really good and they gave a good amount Ambiance - overcrowded and extremely loud (the acoustics are terrible so little chatter from each table really echoed making it extremely difficult to even hear the person you're talking to) Lastly, Service - this was the worst service that I have ever experienced in a restaurant. When I walked in, it was clearly busy. The woman at the front podium was overwhelmed and didn't even greet the people coming in. The gentlemen that I believe is the owner asked us how many people and to stand aside. More people kept streaming in. A couple who came after us, who seemed to be friendly with the gentlemen, didn't have a reservation but were seated before us. When we were finally seated, the waitress came to take our order, no greeting or introduction. We stated our order clearly for her. Both entrees are off the Lunch Special menu and should include a soup. She brought out only one soup, we had to try hailing her down to ask for the other soup. She didn't bring out waters. It wasn't until well after we already had our soup that someone else brought over water (only one cup I had to ask for the other one). When our food came out, the order was wrong. She dropped the plates and ran off before we could correct her. By the time we got her attention again to let her know she brought the wrong entree she just grabbed it and ran off. I was nearly half way done with my entree by the time my mothers entree came out. While we were eating, not once did the waitress check in on us. We had to hail her down again just to ask for our dessert. When it was time to ask for the check, she handed me a check that immediately caught me off guard because it did not seem right cost wise. I looked it over and it was indeed the wrong receipt. I had to wait yet again to get her attention to correct her. Once I got the correct receipt I didn't want to wait anymore for her to come back for the payment. The other servers were even rushing us off the table so I walked over to the woman at the front podium and paid. It was a horrible dining experience and the food couldn't even make up for it. I do not recommend it and will not be dining here again.

My review is based on my experience using the event space on the upper level for my husband's 50th bday. I was very impressed with the professionalism and warmth of the staff from The moment I locked in the date Abby was helpful, and accommodating in meeting all the needs for my party! The day of the event arrived and everything was seamless, from the food, to the drinks, service was on point, and my guests couldn't stop raving about the venue! I will def recommend Jimmy's to one and all!

Food was fresh and delicious. The waiter was absolutely charming and attentive! The ambiance is charming and the entire place was clean and we'll maintained.

I literally come here for one thing and one thing only. The Dominican breakfast. I've been here several times and although the mangu is mostly good there has been several occasions where it wasn't so. The inconsistency in the flavor and the texture of the mangu is a gamble. It's literally a hit or miss every time I come. I always eat my entire plate because it is one of the best I've had but definitely not the best. I've tried one other item on the menu, the mofongo (apparently I love plantains) and I have to say the pork that they brought out next to it was seriously scary. I did not enjoy that meal at all and that's another reason why I never really venture out of my usual. I'm really feeling the new upgrade to the place. In terms of location, interior and especially the menu. I think to me the biggest upgrade was the b. The service is good. I usually get the same waitress and she's really sweet and already knows my order before I even open my mouth. The service is really quick, I always come during breakfast hours, and it's never crowded. I will definitely remain a regular here as I do believe in the potential for them to get better with their menu items.

So it is a very nice establishment the service was ok the only thing is that they will definitely try and swindle you and charge you more for stuff that's supposed to come with your meal i ordered a Belgian waffle with ham bacon sausage and eggs and i asked for no eggs they excluded the eggs but also excluding the ham my mother ordered stale eggs and cheese and they put regular slices of American cheese and fresh eggs the sent back the same eggs with cheddar cheese on it the they charged us for the full plate and charged us us extra for the ham that was supposed to come with my meal

First time here and it's a great vibe! I got the burger it was juicy and cooked well. The service was great! The interior decor inside was very elegant and inviting. Would definitely go back here again.

This place is so beautiful when you walk in, well lit and open feeling throughout the cafe (kind of an upscale diner feel). Went on a weeknight, I believe they may get a good crowd on the weekends. I got the california burger, it was good but next time I will order it medium, medium well made it slightly overecooked for my taste, due to them using a wider and flatter patty, rather than a thicker patty. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well., will be back to try other menu options and enjoy the vibe.
