They load up that Chicken Pita! I walked in to a very Chicago decorated restaurant and ordered the Chicken Pita. For $10, I got a nicely loaded pita with chicken, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The chicken was good and wasn’t at all chewy. There was too much mayo on the sandwich, taking away from some flavor. The service was nice and quick. Overall, Jimmy’s gets 4 stars!

Delicious lunch on the way to the museum. Fast, flavorful and friendly service. Get it to eat there or takeout. Sidebar seating is limited. Reasonable prices for a very filling meal. Stop by for a quick bite, plenty of options.

We found this amazing place on a side street in Chicago. it’s open late night and has some of the most amazing Gyro and sandwiches. You can find definitely recommend hidden gym in Chicago magnificent mile area. Close to Grant Park and all the cool things to do. Check it out after the bar Love it! Great job Jimmys!

While the location itself is fantastic, the food was not on the level. The gyro was fine, but could have been made better by warming up the pita first. The real crime was the undercooking of the pizza puff, taking one of Chicagos greatest foods and reducing it to a sub par hot pocket.

It was the only place open at 1 am near the area so I went and got the chicago style hot dog and the gyro sandwich. I wasn’t a fan of the chicago hot dog, lots of vegetables in comparison to the size of the hot dog. But the gyro sandwich was very good and juicy. The onions and steak mix really well together and is pretty fairly priced for 8.95. The interior of the restaurant had a chicago aesthetic which was appealing as a tourist. The worker with the snake neck tattoo was happy to answer any questions I had as well as recommend other spots in chicago to visit. Had a lovely chat with him.

The gyro I had was good for the $9 it cost. Wasn’t the best, I’d say it was average. The place is Route 66 themed and they have a lot of options on the menu.

I kept going back to this place. It's a small spot but they have good prices, large portions and the food was so good. Except, I would ask for extra crispy on fries. Love the decorations, reminds me of a small diner so good picture spot. I ordered the gyro which huge and yummy. My friend got the chicken pita and the chicago dog did not disappoint.

It's a great option for a quick meal. I have only gotten takeout, so I cannot speak to the service or ambiance. I got mozzarella sticks and a gyro and they were both really good. Highly recommend!

The Loop seems like it's not exactly Hot Dog Central in Chicago, but Jimmy's Gyros & Grill does a damn fine job for itself. It's easy to miss: The storefront is mid-block and barely ten feet wide, but inside this little shoebox is a colorful and spotless little gyro-and-hot-dog stand. I'm not sure if the front-of-the-house guy is Jimmy, but the fella on duty when we were there managed that neat trick of being pleasant and welcoming while simultaneously moving the orders along expeditiously. Maxwell Street Polish is a relatively recent discovery for us, and here they were more than serviceable. Good snap to that sausage, although I wish those onions and peppers hadn't been griddled down quite so much. That and large soda was only 10 bucks (with tax and tip), which is hard to beat in a big downtown in 2024. I'm thinking you could do one hell of a lot worse than Jimmy's if you want a quick bite in the Loop, and I'll remember this one in the future.

Very solid gyros served in a counter-type environment. Always can do with a bit more meat in a sandwich, but these were reasonably well filled. Fast service but not a lot of space to longer. Locals who were wearing work uniforms and construction gear filled the place vice the tourists at more expensive, proximate places.

yes, it's in a touristy location, but there's always a line of locals waiting on their Italian beef sandwiches. It's not the best in the city, but it scratches that itch and is very emblematic of the classic Chicago street food. My hot dog had snap! Nice work. They are open super-late as well.

A tucked-in small restaurant with great prices and delicious food. Wanted to experience classic Chicago eats like the Chicago style hot dog and beef sandwich here, and both were delicious. Not a huge pickle/relish/onion/pepper fan, but loved how they tasted with the hot dog. Quick service as well. Indoor seating or to-go options.

10/10 for the price and quality of a really yummy gyro. Working downtown it's hard to find a place for lunch that won't cost $20-25 a pop for a meal.my gyro/fries and a drink and a little baklava dessert was around $20 but I was able to have left over since they filled the gyro with lots of meat. This place is a local fav too.

We order a gyro plate and a gyro sandwich. Everything is made to order when you arrive. They are friendly and ready to make your wait satisfying. The gyro plate had enough meat on it to make two or three gyro sandwiches. As you can see from the pictures, the store was empty. The walls are full classic signs representing Chicago history.

The best part of Jimmy's - the quantity of the gyro meat they give you (very generous) and that they are open late! I would say the taste is average, yet I would say this would be a late Friday or Saturday stop in in the future while visiting Chicago. The staff was extremely friendly, nice and welcoming! The store, while narrow and small and long, was clean and had a lot of "fun" old signs on the wall to look at while waiting for our food. The food was prepared while we waited. Fresh! Yes! The fries were hot and crispy. Would I be back? Yes.

Had the Italian meat sandwich (hot peppers) it was great extremely tasty especially for fast food style location. Staff were awesome and got the food in and out fast. The location is small but still enough room to have a great meal and enjoy a conversation with a co-worker.

If you are looking for some good food late night and good service, look no further and give this place a visit! We were in walking distance after catching a movie and we were so happy to see that this place was open late. When we arrived there was only one other person ordering (to go) and then us. The cashier was super friendly and he got our orders through fast. We all ordered separately and different foods. Our orders consisted of: 1 Chicken pita special 1 Order of mozzarella sticks 1 Chicago hot dog 1 Cheeseburger I was able to take a small bite of everything and I had ordered the chicken pita for myself. The chicken pita was delicious! The chicken was flavorful and perfectly seasoned and the french fries that came as a side were hot and crispy. The mozzarella sticks although plain, were actually pretty good. They were hot, crispy, and the cheese was stretchy. The Chicago dog was interesting. It had slices of tomato in it which we didn't really care for but other than that, it was good. The meat patty in the cheeseburger was cooked well and it was perfectly seasoned. As we ate, it got to be pretty busy. The line was almost out the door and it was past midnight. Food is good!

Best gyro I have ever eaten! Food was great but the fries were flavorless and had no salt. The employees were hardworking and we got good food pretty quickly even though it was fairly busy. Would definitely come back here.

First time in Chicago and for a small shopp the customers came in and out and online orders peeping. 10/10 food was amazing the flavor was just great. Food took less than 15 minutes which was amazing as well!! The vibe of the restaurant is great felt retro just perfect for everything!!

I came in just to check "Chicago hot dog" off the tourist list. I was happily shocked by the prices - everything was so affordable! I wish I had the chance to come back and try their other options. Nothing much to say about the hot dog. It was up to par and tasted pretty much like what you would expect. Service could've been a bit friendlier. I was met with deadpan faces. Overall, this is a small spot to grab a quick and affordable bite.

I ordered takeout via third party app, as they did not offer delivery through the restaurant itself. It is open late and located near the popular hotels west of Millennium/Grant Park. The food was AMAZING!!! I ordered a chicken gyro and it was probably tied for #1 favorite chicken gyro I've ever had. Portions are huge! Also a plus that it is open late after most food spots have closed. I will definitely order again next time I am in Chicago and staying in the area.

It was open and we were hungry. It's a small place and for 10pm at night had a somewhat steady stream of customers. Service seemed quick. There's not much sitting room but a number that of customers Jad take-out. We ordered: Two hot dogs. Really messy. I had to eat it in sections. French fries. Freshly fried but not crispy enough for me. I appreciate it was hot and freshly fried! Coke It's not bad and an option for late night cheap eats.

To be fair, we ordered this on Door Dash to be delivered to our hotel. That said, while the food was a little soggy with sauce, it tasted great. I was really impressed at how tender the chicken was in the gyros, and could see this becoming a regular post-bar meal.

There's 2 Polish on the menu. Careful. They serve one like a Chicago dog. Must be from another planet. I got my order and it looked like a Chicago dog. The fries were old and cold. I returned the order and they told me I had to specifically order a Maxwell Street Polish. I did say mustard and grilled onions when I ordered. No sport peppers. That's a bizarre thing to list with a Maxwell Polish. Whatever, it's not really Maxwell if you don't grill it so they're really confused and it's dawning on me that this is a Gyro joint. They redid the order. I think they dropped my cold sad fries in the fat again. They weren't good. The onions were super greasy and the bun over steamed. There are a ton of these places around Chicago. I'm not seeing anything special here.

Place is great for late night fix. Portions are very generous. Food is good and place is very clean. We even got a show as some lady was pissed off about having to pay a large pickle. She showed her a$$. It was very entertaining at 11 pm. She insisted on putting up a bad review which prompted me to put this good review up.

While on a food tour we got a chance to try the Italian beef sandwich. It was tender, but very salty and the bread was to mushy. After having the exact same sandwich (it's a traditional Chicago meal) at a different restaurant that turned out better, I would revisit this restaurant.

The fries. The fried alone. Have I mentioned the fries? They are an epiphany. They are so incredibly crunchy on the outside but soft and pillowy on the inside. They are heaven! The Chicago style dog was very good too. The Chili Cheese Dog was good and savory but a little too messy for me to eat. Great place to have a quick snack. Order the fries!

Pretty good spot to grab a bite whenever in the Loop that wont hurt your wallet SURPRISINGLY.Located right off the Pink and Green line.They are open LATE.Super convinent.Staff is always good.Service is prompt.Food ALWAYS hits the spot.Love my gyros!!!! I stumbled across this place while walking around downtown Chicago. I was looking for a place that serves a quality Chicago Dog and decided to try Jimmy's. I love the simplicity of this place. I ordered a Chicago Dog, of course, an a diet soda. They serve a variety of Pepsi products. I also decided to eat inside rather than bring my food and drink outside. This was my first time trying a Chicago style hot dog and boy am I hooked now! The hot dog was good quality and fresh ingredients as well. What made my meal more enjoyable was sitting at the front window at a high top counter, eating my food and people watching. The front window faces directly out on the street. It's a great view to watch pedestrians walk by and cars driving by on the street as well. I recommend checking out Jimmy's if you're ever visiting downtown Chicago. I would love to return here!

(Gyro) The tzatziki sauce is not good at all. I could've done without that. The meat was tender, full of flavor and a great portion. It was so good that I was upset I didn't order the platter which comes with more meat. (Italian Combo Sandwich (Beef + Sausage) great flavor, reminding me of the old school Chicago Italian combo of the early 2000s. The hot pepper really blends in perfect with saltiness of the meats and dipped sauces. The bread wasn't dipped to my liking however definitely made a difference. You can't go wrong with either choice.

Waited for them to contact me when my order arrived, never did, once I found my food cold I proceeded to find that my gyro plate had no fries or sauce, terrible meal

It was my first time in Chicago and I got into the city at 9p on a Sunday. This was one of the very few places that was still open at the time. I ordered a Chicago hot dog and a gyro plate. Chicago dog - 7/10. I'm not a hot dog person but wanted to try an Chicago hot dog. Not bad at all and I also had no idea it came with fries. Gyro plate -8/10. Gyro was pretty good. Only gripe I have was they didn't give enough tzatziki sauce.

Woooooow. I came here for a late night bite when many places around Palmer House Hotel were closed. The bellman suggested this place first and highly, so here is where I came. Greeted by friendly people and got the beef/lamb gyro combo. Was NOT disappointed. The portion of the wrap was a joke - overstuffed and amazing! I had to take meat out just to eat it. If you can't tell, this is a GOOD thing. The fries were perfect. The price was well worth it. As an out-of-towner staying locally and looking for something easy, quick, affordable and yet delicious...come here.

Customer service was phenomenal! I ordered 2 Gyros plates - the sandwich was absolutely delicious (plenty of gyros meat) the fries were just okay. The establishment was very clean and bright (you can see them prepare you food) we will definitely be back, glad to find a place that have some of my south-side favorite's in the loop. This place is right in the heart of the loop, a few blocks west of Michigan Avenue. It's only about 10 feet wide, long and deep. There's counters along each side to stand and eat. The place can get very busy during the lunch hour, so best to avoid that time if you're in a rush. If you're looking for a rock solid Chicago dog in the loop, this is the place. Starting with Vienna Beef, they apply all the Chicago standard toppings: mustard, relish, onion, tomato, celery salt, sport peppers, on a poppy seed bun and with a pickle spear. You can't go wrong with that.

This little diamond in the rough is sure to satisfy. It is a true neighborhood hangout. Next time I'm back Chicago this will be my first stop for a little dog action. The Gyro is nothing to stick your nose up at either. Go here you won't be disappointed!

This was a spot on a food tour I attended. They had a number of options to choose from including burgers, gyros, fries, Italian beef, sausage, salads, etc. This was a very small place and had a stand-up counter to eat as well as a few tables, but it was very tight. I had an Italian beef sandwich with hot peppers and was an easy dip. The beef was very tender and even better when the hot peppers were added. The peppers were the key to the sandwich here. They had just the right amount of spiciness. The "easy dip" bread was also tasty. It held up nicely with the juices from the meat and peppers. Will I go back? Yes.

What a great little spot. Hubby and I had a taste for a Chicago style dog and gave Jimmy's a try. Service was very friendly and the dog and fries were delicious! There is limited seating available inside the restaurant but we had no problem finding a spot to warm up and enjoy our food.

Chicago has given nothing but good food. But this place was located very close to our hotel and was convenient in location. We ordered an Italian beef sandwich to check it out. Service was quick for 3 Italian beef sandwiches (about 15 mins with fries) and the staff were helpful and ready to serve. This location is small but gives a big bite. I recommend for quick access to a local meal.

Jimmy's for Chicago Style hot dog ls was a great addition to our trip to the Windy City. I would give it 5-stars if the dogs were more charred ... but the with-the-works and the Cheese dogs we had were really good and worth it.

I came in here on a late Tuesday night. I had been doing some moderate post-work drinking at a bar nearby and I was beginning to crave some gyros. I slithered my way in there and ordered myself a deluxe meal. After I ordered and was waiting for my food to be ready, I got a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see a young girl around 5 or 6 -I swear she looked similar to my own daughter when she was 6. I looked around and I didn't see any parents or anyone who seemed responsible for this young girl. She tugged at my sleeve so I knelt down to hear what she was bound to say. "You need to stop." she said. "I need to what? Stop? Why do you say that?" "You shouldn't be acting like this." She smiled a toothy grin at me -a few of her teeth were missing. "I shouldn't be getting a gyro?" "No, you shouldn't be drinking all the time." My jaw dropped. How could she possibly know I drink often? Am I being pranked? Did my wife force this poor little girl to confront me instead of doing it face-to-face? Before I could ask this girl another question she reaches out and taps me on the knee. "Tag! You're it!" She runs to the exit, opens the door, and bolts out. Before I could run after her, my number is called by the cashier -my food was ready. I have yet to see that girl again.

Four stars only because we had placed an online order and they hadn't received it by the time we got there (15mins after we placed it). I wish I'd taken a picture of the chicken pita and the gyro but they were both stuffed with meat exactly as the pita should be! I definitely agree with other reviews that you need an extra tzatziki sauce and it's worth the extra $$. Very good meat, pita, and sauce! Highly recommend this place!

Stopped by here because its around the corner from the hotel I was staying in. The staff was really friendly and made my order prompt each time I came. They're open late but I never experienced a long line. Definitely reccomend the Italian beef.

Great fast food, late night option. No frills but food is good. I had the gyros and thought they were very good - lots of meat, onions and sauce. Heard the burger is really good, will try next time.

I'd say 3 but the dog had a great snap and tasted pretty phenomenal. The gyro wasn't bad even though the white sauce sucked on its own it was nice on the sandwich.... It's your typical, grease trap, fast food, low grade, good late-night, drunk guy food shop. The staff sorta blows and the place gets packed and hot... just bare with it and take your meal to go.

Jimmy's is the perfect place to be if you're around the area for a late night snack. Generous portions of meat and hot fries can't be beat! I've tried their gyros sandwich special and the Chicago style hot dog combos, and my favorite was the gyros. I will definitely be back to try their chicken pita and the Italian beef as well!
