Bacon was dripping with grease. Served a Flat hard biscuit that I couldn’t even cut with my fork and barely with a knife. Gravy was lumpy and tasted like it was made with old bacon grease. Could not eat it. Eggs and hashbrowns were OK but could taste the grease in the hashbrowns. The ice water I could not drink because it had such a chemical smell and flavor to it. I honestly thought I was gonna get food poisoning before I got out of there. They started mopping with some heavy Strong smelling cleaner that engulfed the whole restaurant. They should not be doing that with Customers still there. I knew I should’ve gone to Golden Bear where I always go. I thought I would give JIMMY’s some business, but never again.

The food is fine and nothing special. The service was fine with friendly people. The chocolate chip pancakes were good. I've experienced much better food elsewhere. Though their prices are reasonable, I'd choose many other restaurants before this one.

Very simple down to earth breakfast and lunch spot. Very attentive service, large portions and clean environment. Prices less than comparable spots around the area. Photo is of the "Meat Lovers Omelette" with an extra slice of cheese melted on top.

I like this place. The staff has always been friendly. I have stopped by here 3 other times for a meal. This time I was trying the Hungry Man breakfast. It was good. I especially liked the grilled green pepper and grilled onions mixed in with the home fries. For me the eggs were done just right. It was a very good meal and service top notch.

I feel awkward and hesitate saying this because my visit to Jimmy’s Place was with a group but after stopping in for lunch, I believe that I can speak for all six of us. Jimmy’s Place is the overall best restaurant in the area. We were engulfed in reading Jimmy’s menu and when asked for her opinion our waitress whose name tag reads Robin spoke directly to each of us. She is nice, really nice and very hospitable too. If you can’t do so today, make your visit to Jimmy’s Place soon. The food is fabulous. Even better, you won’t waist your money!!!!

Jimmy's is a great little diner. Set very conveniently near the local elementary school which makes it great for grabbing breakfast before dropping off the kids. The Pro's: bathrooms are always clean. The parking lot is easy to get into / out of and has plenty of parking. The staff are pleasant and seem to enjoy the work they do. The food is made to order, and the cook is happy to tweak a dish as needed to accommodate for things like allergies, etc. Outdoor seating is available. The con's: honestly there really aren't many. The only thing that comes to mind is the location makes it hard to find if you don't know it is there. 2nd is the menu which is limited to traditional American breakfast choices, however if you asked something custom (like a vegan or low carb dish) they are happy to work with that. Definitely an under rated gem. Highly recommend!

Google
Great little neighborhood diner with consistently good food and service. I've been 10+ times and it's always great. I usually get eggs, bacon, biscuits & gravy.

Yelp
This place has changed names a few times. Not sure if it is the same owner just trying to find one that works but the cook does not seem to be the same one as the last time we visited. Either way this place has good lunch selections, breakfast all day and lots of comfort food. It was nice so we say outside to enjoy the weather. We started with the chicken noodle soup. Pretty tasty. I did add some salt but still a solid soup. For my lunch I got the Ham & Cheese club. Very tasty and fresh. been craving a cold sandwich and this hit the spot. Deb had the Roast beef club. She said it was OK but though the roast beef was not that great. only had half. The fries were really good. Lightly breaded and cooked just right. Still a pretty good spot for some comfort food but I think the last place was a little better.

Yelp
Terrific service and delicious food. Staff is pleasant. Restaurant is clean. Menu items are priced well.

Yelp
We started to come here during COVID because of the outdoor seating, and it turned into our favorite breakfast spot. Now Jimmy has Mexican Nights on Thurs, Friday and Sat evenings and we love their enchiladas.

Denise B.

Yelp
Love this place. Went with some friends for breakfast. Food was great, prices were great, service was excellent and the portions were large. Sat out front it was a nice experience. Fast forward, I work at RD and Jimmy's place is one of our customers. I know the food is fresh and quality food these folks are out getting it everyday. Owner is nice too. Definitely worth checking out. Great local place to eat.

Yelp
Great service and clean but the breakfast was marginal. Ask for bacon and eggs and crispy hashbrowns. The bacon had been cooked hours before because it was dried out. The hashbrowns were delivered in kind of a sloppy uncooked mess, far from crispy hashbrowns.

Yelp
The staff was so welcoming! Very warm hearted! And the food was even better! Everything was so fresh! Such large portions for the price!

Yelp
We were regulars at the TIN CAN in Clearwater. JIm sold the business last year and now opened a new location. Same great food, larger, brighter place. Jim, Pam and Nicole are all still there. This place is awesome and you need to go try it out. Huge portions. The steak and eggs or Pork chop Bone In and eggs are excellent! Skillets are HUGE! Try the Pork medallions. They are the best! Unbelievable Steak and Egg Special! The tuna salad is the best around and the service is great. The menu is huge and there are also many Board Specials posted each day. Don't read the reviews posted from last year. They are for the previous restaurants at this location. The place turned over a number of times. It is not in a downtown area so traffic on Starkey can easily miss this place. It is in a strip mall on the North bound side of Starkey just North of Bardmore and before the Bowling Alley. Once people find out about this place it will be packed every day just like their old place, The Tin Can in Clearwater. This place has NEW ownership and is really fantastic!

Yelp
Formerly called the Largo Family Diner, Jimmy's Place offers a very similar menu. The place changed ownership about five months ago, and the new owner has many years of restaurant experience. I tried the biscuits and gravy - based on a recommendation from one of their waitresses a few weeks back - and it was just average. It tasted like the same biscuits and gravy you get at any number of breakfast spots. The cook told me the biscuits had just come out of the oven, so naturally, I'm expecting biscuits made from scratch. Then the server ( the owner ) told me they're Pillsbury biscuits. I can make those at home. So, just 4 stars since the place is clean, the service is good, the owner is friendly, and the place has retained its neighborly atmosphere. So I'm still in search for biscuits and gravy made from scratch.

Yelp
We were on a cruise with some friends talking about great breakfast places close to home. One of the group mentioned "Jimmy's Place ". We went by & checked them out . Wife had the lamb chops for breakfast. I heard how awesome they were for 3dats. Must have been good) I had steak & eggs. Very tasty. Done perfect Check them out, they know how to do it right at JIMMYS PLACE

Yelp
My rating is on food only as I used Uber Eats so I cannot rate on facility appearance, cleanliness, or customer service. I was feeling particularly lazy this morning after working on my day off yesterday then waking up late this morning. I didn't feel like cooking or getting out of pjs so I decided to search online for a small business restaurant and came upon this one. I've been going to the Golden Bear for over a decade and I never knew about this place so decided to give it a go. The delivery driver communicated with me that the order was running a little behind which if it was ready that fast I wouldn't of expected good food. My food was delivered within the expected window looking fresh and ready to eat. The prices were pretty average for what we ordered. $18 and change was the total. Our order consisted of the Florentine Benedict with home fries and Shrimp Omelette with home fries and white toast. The Benedict was flawless and still hot on arrival. The home fries were good. I do like mine with a slight crunchy burnt taste to them but they came out the way most (my mom) prefer. Nicely cooked and soft. The omelette was good. To be fair I have a favorite at a restaurant that I've been going to for two decades so I try not to compare. This omelette was filled with large chunks of veggies so for me that gets an extra plus! I definitely love a generous amount of veggies!! Overall both meals were pleasing and Fulfilling. Hit the spot while eating in pjs and being lazy. I will definitely put this place on my small business. home cooking, list for the future and would recommend.

Yelp
Stopped at Largo Family Diner for breakfast on New Year's Day. Food was fresh and service was decent. Prices were low compared to the area diners. Nice little local place for breakfast or lunch.

Catherine N.

Yelp
I asked the waitress, " Is this a steak or ground beef?" She told me with a straight face it was a steak. Than I ordered country fried steak and it taste like it was a week old. The home fries taste like it's been in the fridge for two days

Yelp
The food was very good. The staff was stellar. They where short a sever and it the first k a couple xtra minutes but she let us know and was attentive. I had the eggs Benedict with steak. Next time I'll just get the regular and the steak wasn't that great but let's talk about the homemade hollandaise sauce. It was so amazing. And the chunked potato's wher fresh and wonderful. My son had eggs and pancakes (he is a adult) and it was fresh and perfect.

Yelp
Checked this place out with my gf and kiddos this past Saturday. The host didn't seem too friendly as she didn't even look at us and didn't seem very attentive as people Walked through the door. I don't remember what her name was. But our server was very sweet. She was busy but super attentive. Our kiddos had the Mickey pancakes and my gf and I enjoyed our meals as well. Get the potatoes they are delicious!

Lisa J.

Yelp
Awesome place. We have been there twice and food was awesome both times. Service was great also! Sheila is a fabulous waitress and such a beautiful person. One of my new favorite places to go to. So glad we moved into this neighborhood!

Yelp
This is the third time I've written a review for a restaurant in the same location. I know why the other restaurants closed because the food was not up to par really. Ambrosia restaurant seems like a very busy place on a Saturday but that's about it. During the week when I drive-by there is hardly any cars here at anytime of the day, I question how long they can continue being open with only a good Saturday business. Their menu was quite large as far as breakfasts go, the lunch and breakfast menu are regular fair that you would normally find at a mom-and-pop restaurant. Today I was here for breakfast and I had one of their breakfast burritos. It really was very good, scrambled eggs and peppers and onions sausage and jalapenos overstuffed really. The home fries were sliced very small almost Julian style and we're okay. I think in this day and age in the mom-and-pop restaurant business, you really have to have something special to stand out to be successful. I hope ambrosia can find their niche.

Diane C.

Yelp
Our favorite breakfast place. Tried their special "Huervos Ranchero " , best breakfast I've had in a long time.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
Place changed hands and new name. Food seems same, and prices little higher. New faces. We'll see how long this place lasts. Never lasts more than 2 ish yrs.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible!! This was my first and will be my last time trying this place. I ordered delivery through Bite Squad and received grits that were rancid. Like actually spoiled, sour-tasting with a bad smell, rotten. The fruit and biscuits also had also had a very distinct freezer-burnt taste which was just awful.

Yelp
The food is not bad, the waitresses are awesome, however the vibe isn't good. The new owners don't seem to know what they're doing and the cooks keep quitting. Instead go eat at Kim's restaurant two minutes away!

James T.

Yelp
Great breakfast place with quality products clean and very friendly . Service was excellent
google avatar

Brittany C.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious. I had scrambled eggs with ham and onions, my daughters had the Mickey Mouse Pancakes, and my wife had the eggs with bacon. Service was fantastic, and it was a calm atmosphere. We will be coming back.

Bill G.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and owners. Food is good. Prices are reasonable. Extremely clean restaurant. Located in mission plaza next to bowling alley.

Yelp
Update May 2018. Ambrosia has new ownership now, and quality has suffered. Now three stars. What a shame. We won't be back. Original review from 2016: Five stars. Very nice selection of food to fit every taste. They will customize any menu item, very accommodating to those, like me, with diet restrictions. I've had many different selections and all were cooked to perfection. The only item that was only adequate, in my opinion, are the home fries - not crispy enough for my taste. But, my husband loves them so maybe that's just me. They DO offer the very best omelette around. The best points for me are: Authentic, friendly service. Very fresh ingredients. Willing to customize. Excellent chef. Diverse menu. And charming chicken decor (hey, I was raised on a farm.) I started coming here after my old regular breakfast place started serving pre cooked reheated omelettes and was very delightfully surprised. I am now a regular.

Susan Y.

Yelp
Don't know what is worse..eating there or working there..never seen such a screwed up place in my life...and the food isn't much better

Yelp
It is rare to find a breakfast place that will get your eggs right. Really good cook made him the way I wanted them. I like their pancakes to

Yelp
Not only did I fund my favorite waitress in the entire area. . . But, found a wonderful place for breakfast or lunch! This place is not found yet by many, but is a real treasure. Their weekday call-in & delivery orders keep them busy. The menu is plentiful and has good variety with a mediterranean touch throughout. The omelete with fresh spinach was delicious and the eggs benadict the other day hit the spot. They have Daoly Specials. Did I memtion "creat your own Crepes? They have homade bread, and if they have some dessert they just baked - try it!! Fresh donuts today!! FANTASTIC! They take great care to create good food. You'll find service like this nowhere else around. Karena makes you feel so good and at home. You're always taken care of.

Yelp
I haven't been there for a few months and normally the food and service are both very good. However, when I went this week they messed up one order by putting the sandwich on a bun instead of toasted rye bread. Plus, the Cobb salad was not as listed on the menu-- only had chicken, lettuce, tomato, and a piece of crumbled bacon. The missing items that were on the menu- cheese, avocado, and egg.
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
The best thing about this place was the coffee and omelettes. Everything else was just ok. The kids pancakes were overcooked. Nothing we asked for was cooked how we asked. We felt the prices were a bit too high. And the waitress really gave us the vibe that we were in her way. I know we came later on the breakfast shift but there was a reason I left a smaller tip.

Yelp
We love to try new breakfast places, so when we stumbled across this one we just had to stop. The parking lot was totally full, so that's the first good sign. I think we may have been greeted at the door by the owner, and she was lovely and friendly. We were seated and the room was very crowded and people seemed to be enjoying full looking plates of breakfast food. We waited nearly 10 minutes for our order to be taken, although our drink order had been taken and delivered right away. My husband ordered the crows nest which was layers of eggs, potatoes, meat, cheese, and gravy. He said it was delicious, and I got the Gyro omelette which was not. It was extremely overcooked eggs with meat mixed in. No onion or anything to make up for the dry toughness of those eggs. Overall not a bad place to grab a weekend breakfast, but we are still looking for our brunchiness nirvana

Gregory H.

Yelp
had an omelette. the ham and green pepper pieces were soo small, and not very much in the omelette. The onion pieces were burnt. The service was very good and the place is very clean. Probably won't go back. I also thought the omelette was over priced compared to places in the area.
google avatar

Tony N.

Yelp
I took a safe route and got the classic eggs Benedict and an order of chicken orzo soup. The eggs were poached perfectly. The home fries were just pan fried french fries. I would have ordered french fries or the hash-browns had I known. It's right down the street from my house and I wished it was open 24/7 like the other diners I frequent in this county. (Egg platter/Kristina's) I can taste the "were not open 24/7" in the food though definitely a notch up from them.
google avatar

Tonya W.

Yelp
Food was ok but service sucked. Coffee mug was dirty. Refills nonexistent. Do not recommend.

Donna V.

Yelp
Take a pass! Food was sub par...Greek omelette had no feta cheese, hash browns were raw. Small servings!
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
The most unprofessional service ever. My coworkers and I go here frequently for lunch and order our meals to-go. Having worked to-go before I am pretty good about leaving a nice tip for whoever takes care of us. Today we went to Ambrosia and while waiting for our food we heard the waitress who took our order (older, brunette, lots of makeup) speaking very loudly while walking across the dining room. "These guys always come in here and every time, NOTHING! I don't know what bar they go to but I'm gonna start going there! NO TIP, can you believe it?!" She exclaims wildly to the horrified expressions of her coworker and some old guy with horrible teeth (owner maybe?) Now I can't speak for anybody but myself but I almost always tip to-go. I can't control if my other coworkers do or don't and honestly, that's their choice. She continued her childlike tirade and nonsensical ramblings for a few minutes until our food was ready with nobody attempting to stop her. It turns out she didn't take one of my coworkers orders correctly. He was undercharged and had to pay again. Another coworker had a salad with no onions and it was covered. Nowhere on his order ticket does it say no onions. We love the food here and most of the staff is nice but I won't be going back. Overall, most of the food is decent and reasonably priced. This one waitress is the reason for the 1-star. Try the southwest burger!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for breakfast on a rainy Sunday late morning and just happened to see a mom and pop restaurant that serves both breakfast and lunch. The food here was incredible as the waitstaff was superb as well. My wife had French Toast fresh and seasoned just right. I had the best Eggs Benedict of my life and look forward to coming back when I am in Largo Florida. I highly recommend this five star establishment!
google avatar

lisa c.

Yelp
Tried this place on a whim and I am impressed. It's a small mom and pop place but the people are extremely nice and the food is awesome. We tried the homemade Mousaka, and it was amazing. Like a Greek lasagna with eggplant, ground beef, potatoes and a delicious topping. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who might be in the area.
google avatar

Jean W.

Yelp
Their policy seems to be Customer "no service ", cold food was served after long wait, and the surly manager topped it off. It was not a place that I could think of going to again.
google avatar

Sharyn J.

Yelp
Good breakfast place. Skillet was good and home fries are red skins and pretty good. They serve lunch also but haven't tried that yet.
google avatar

Josh P.

Yelp
I live locally and I keep having high hopes for this place because it's right outside my neighborhood but I've eaten here 3 times now and every time I have I've had severe stomach issues for the rest of the day. The first time I ate here both my fiancé and I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom. And today as simple as a small breakfast meal 12 hours later I sit in pain in my bathroom writing this review. Idk if it was the burnt microwaved bacon this time or seeing a black hair in my gravey after eating most of my meal... I'm sorry guys but something is up and I've lost hope for it.
google avatar

Juan A.

Yelp
Great service! Great food! great speed! very affordable prices! Work for AP&G down the street and we order 2 or 3 times a week. Never had even the smallest issue with them!

Sandi K.

Yelp
My husband & I stopped in here today at 2:35 pm. Granted it was 25 minutes from their closing time but the Open sign was still lit up. We no sooner walked in the door and the lady at the desk "greeted" us with "You know we close at 3 o'clock". That told us all we needed to know, We promptly said thank you, turned and left. If you can not greet your customers properly you don't need our business.
google avatar

Gabrielle F.

Yelp
The staff is very friendly. The coffee is excellent. The food was hot, fresh and affordable. Definitely recommend.

Keith B.

Yelp
We had been regulars to the restaurant previously occupying Ambrosia's space. There were some ups and downs over the years, but it was always pretty good. Wow! What an improvement. This just isn't your regular diner breakfast. The folks in the kitchen take their food seriously. The breakfast sandwich on an English muffin was delicious and great value. The breakfast burrito was jam-packed with great flavor and just enough spice to bring a little heat. Also great was the apple fritter. They are not made on site. But Ambrosia takes one and cuts it into large slices and puts it on the grill. This gives the fritter lots of crispy edges and helps to balance out the usual moistness of an apple fritter. Coffee was also well above average. I'm happy that Ambrosia is nearby and that we'll be able to be regulars again.

Yelp
Great experience for me. The food was hot and fresh. The service was outstanding. I am from New York and have never received such service in New York.

Yelp
Great location and fantastic little breakfast and lunch spot. This place has been here for over 25 years in same location, but with various owners, but always having the same GREAT kitchen staff whom knows how to put great food out on the table. Finally it has new owners, Steve and Stacy, who bought the place almost two years ago and have put their own unique stamp on the menu as well as starting a remodeling project to make the entire facility newer and more comfortable for their many long term customers as well as all the new people who have found their way to Ambrosia. Each day I see many new faces and happy, satisfied customers that have found this little gem of a place and come back again and again! Myself I feel Ambrosia puts out one of, if not the best breakfasts in all of Pinellas county and has some of the very best and most friendly wait staffs and owners on duty every day to make sure everything is perfect for you, or they will do what it takes to make it right! myself I would much prefer to leave the huge crowds and chain restaurants behind and come enjoy the friendly atmosphere that Steve and Stacy has created here at the Ambrosia Restaurant at the corner of Starkey Rd. and Bryan Dairy Rd. right next to the Baycare Medical center in Largo, FL!! You won't be disappointed!!

Tiara O.

Yelp
Great restaurant! Delicious food for a good price. Nice comfortable setting with outside seating available.
