Google
Fantastic restaurant with great food, unbelievable prices, and tremendous service.

I love prime rib, and this is the best I’ve had in Massachusetts. Every year, for both my birthday and my husband’s birthday, we choose to spend time here. I always enjoy the prime rib, while my husband loves the veal Parmesan—it’s the best we’ve found.

Google
I've been coming here for over 10 years! While things have changed a bit over the years, the food has been consistently good and tastes just how I remember it! The staff is usually very kind (I've had some less satisfying experiences with some of the younger staff, but as a whole, the team is great). My favorite meal is the steak teriyaki and broiled scallops. I am always happy with my meal and will continue to come here for life!

Google
Went here twice in one week over Xmas break. First time was at the bar for lunch. Was greeted right away by the bartender (female) and was given great recommendations on what to order. The prime rib was perfect. Overall a great experience. The second time was for dinner in the dining room. Carolina (I think that was her name. She was from El Salvador). was an amazing server. Very funny and drinks came right away. An absolute gem. I highly recommend dining at Jimmy's.

Google
Haven't been here for many years when I moved away from the area. I was so pleased to find when I went to Jimmy's today to find all as I remember and loved it for; delicious good, awesome service, and excellent prices! As in the past, the servings were so large I had leftovers to take home for dinner.

Google
We had a great meal here tonight after finding it on the internet. Wide variety of menu choices including several specials. Biggest Martini I've ever had. Lamb was perfectly cooked and meatloaf with gravy over mashed potatoes made this southerner extremely happy. Great service from Han. If I lived here, I might eat at Jimmy's several times a week. This one's a keeper.

Google
I can’t figure out why this place doesn’t have 5 stars across the board. The parking lot was full. Good sign. Mostly older folks going inside. Better sign. Super friendly greeting and wonderful food aroma when we walked in. Over the top. Kim was a spectacular server. The special ribeyes were cooked to perfection and worth every penny. I can’t wait to come back when we are in town again.

Google
Excellent eatery for bringing family or friends for a special occasion the meals are absolutely fantastic and the weight stuff is amazing. I highly recommend this local location. It’s a favorite.

Yelp
My crib is literally a six-second drive from Jimmy's but admittedly have only been to Jimmys a handful of times. However, I may return more often on account of yesterday's epic Prime Rib experience. I was hangry and was not satisfied with their fairly paltry steak sizes. I "axed" the waitress what the most biggest steak is. She clued me in on a "secret menu" item which is the 30-ounce Prime Rib. I ordered this puppy. It was epic AF. Absolutely mental. My One got the 10-ounce Prime Rib which was a smaller version and very good. I do wish they would amp up and yuppify the sides to some "premium" side offerings of broasted brussels and asparagus and what not. All dishes are quite plebeian in terms of this. It also seems that they joined "shrinkflation" as the salad size has been reduced and included some browned lettuce which is no bueno. Please take the extra few seconds to at least trim it off. Anyhoot, I am drawn to the Prime Rib now and plan to become a Level 3 Heavy User of the Prime Rib hereafter. An added bonus is that even if it's crowded here it's fairly mellow because it's mostly old people here. Check it out. HOT TIP: Eat ALL of the Prime Rib INCLUDING that giant fat blob -it's the BEST PART !!!

Yelp
Love the food here, and I often bring takeout to my friend in Arlington who is long-time fan. I am Gluten free and as much as I enjoy a good salad, and Burger-(without a bun???), I would love another Gluten-free option. ...Celiac Family

Yelp
Had dinner here with family since it was a good location for all that attended. My wife and I split the chicken pot pie and it was delicious. Buttery crispy crust was amazing. My son in law got the steak tips and he loved them. That's one of their specialties.
google avatar

Yelp
Always a great meal and very fair prices The place never disappoints. My steak was cooked perfectly and the lobster pie was excellent

Yelp
Had a taste for steak tips and Jimmy's was the proper spot. They have their own parking lot, there was empty stools at the bar, and if I was there with more people EVERY SEAT IN THE RESTAURANT IS A BOOTH! Great service at the bar. Teriyaki tip was great. Thousand island dressing may be made in house. It was my first time at Jimmy's but I wish there more evidence of an older Jimmy's. I'm sure the bar top was not marble. Give Jimmy's a try.

Linda S.

Yelp
Food was excellent and good prices I can't say enough as the waitress was so patient with me and we were never rushed

Yelp
By far the WORST steak I have ever (tried to eat)! I asked the waitress if the kitchen could make it rare+. She assured me they could. she brought back a medium steak. I told her just try medium-rare, and lean toward the rarer side. She brought back a medium steak a second time. I tried to eat it, but it was awful--not just overcooked (I could eat that)--but poor quality flavorless meat! I asked for plain veggies. They twice brought out butter-soaked that were under-cooked. You would be INFINITELY better going to Outback or Longhorn. Honestly, a local diner could make a better steak. ZERO STARS!

Rand K.

Yelp
Great food, amazing service (thanks Sarah!). This place is a jewel that everyone should visit.

Yelp
If you want good food in a nice restaurant that is not too fancy but fancy enough to enjoy, then Jimmy's is a must! They have good food at reasonable prices. In their menu you can have chicken, steak, seafood, hamburgers, salads. They offer appetizers and desserts. Drinks are offered as well . I used to enjoy them at the Burlington Mall. So glad they are still around in Arlington, and Saugus. If you never been, you have to try it now. If you have bern one, you will be a regular customer.

Yelp
Excellent food, drinks and atmosphere without breaking the bank. I know Jimmys has been around a long time but that speaks to quality food and excellent service.

Yelp
Let me preference this review by saying with a change in attitude of the staff, this meal could easily have been a 4.5. Arrived this past Saturday night to a packed parking lot, was expecting the worst, pleasantly surprised to have been immediately seated in a comfortable booth. Barely had time to sit, when server came over, "what can I get you to drink," in the way of a greeting....not hello,my name is welcome to Jimmy's...letting you know up front you're being served by someone who'd rather be anywhere else.. We politely asked for a few minutes to review cocktail menu, placed drink and dinner orders. Cocktails arrived, and like any good steakhouse, strong and well prepared. Barely had time to enjoy a sip when salads were brought out. House salads with a yummy blue cheese dressing. Would have appreciated time to enjoy our cocktails first, but..... Had enough time to enjoy less than 1/2 of the salads when the entries arrived...literally 8 minutes after we were initially seated ( note salads and main courses were not brought to the table by the server, she remains her station the whole evening with her back to the table. Did come over once to ask how everything was, literally before we took our first bite!!!After that totally invisible, hiding at the station. Dining companion and I had the stuffed shrimp ( absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, yummy stuffing, taste of sherry) and prime rib..cooked perfectly, minimal fat, as good as any steakhouse, unfortunately mine was COLD. ( I like the end cut so I imagine it had been sitting out for quite a while) Couldn't send it back, server was MIA. It was still delicious, but could have been SO much better. My baked potato definitely could have been cooked longer, companion had Jimmy's "famous," rice pilaf which definitely loves up to its name and reputation. Come on guys, I've eaten at several of your restaurants, this was the worst service of all, and had the potential of being the best meal. In reviewing the quality of the meat and the preparation, I'm willing to come back and give you a second try...the potential for greatness is really there. Reheated my left over prime rib for lunch, remained juicy and when hot, it was delicious.

Arthur F.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. On more than one occasion I've had to send back my steak. This past Sunday September 7, 2025I ordered take out. I ordered the Large Steak Teriyaki Medium Rare (which is usually quite tasty)... What I got when I got home was the most dried out over cooked piece of Leather I have ever had the displeasure of cutting into. It was Terrible! I immediately called the Restaurant and spoke with the manager who graciously told me the next time I ordered they would have me on the list credited for a new meal. That's fine but, I really had had a long day and was looking forward to my dinner that cost around $30 bucks and I didn't have much else in the fridge I wanted to eat. I know good kitchen staff is hard to come by but I really think the cooks who can't properly cook a Steak should be FIRED. I'm writing this because it isn't the first time. If I were sitting at a table it could have been addressed then and there but to send a customer out the door with something that can't be fixed is insufferable. Another comment on this Restaurant is that they don't have any delivery services like Grub Hub or Uber Eats or Door Dash. C'mon this is 2025. Get your S**t together.

Yelp
Never had a bad meal at Jimmys. My Go to meal is the teriyaki steak with stuffed shrimp. Always quick service and a lively atmosphere. Been going regularly for years.

Re-Think Today ..

Yelp
I used to rank Jimmy's Steer House at 5-Stars, but now, just a decent 4-Star rating. The food is terrific, and the service is very attentive, which is well appreciated (decent tips). But . . . they lost a great waitress (Laurie), with with the true energetic attentiveness to the customers. Those were common 5* ratings from the appreciative customers. And the younger staff could learn. It's gonna be a while for them to catch up. I don't sense the same energy amongst the staff, now that Laurie is away. [V.Good Parking; enough for all the people.]

Yelp
Hands down the best steak tips I've had in a while! Went here with family before a local show in Arlington at the Regent Theater. Got the steak tips with the special spinach rice and it was out of this world. The bread that comes with dinner is delicious. Ask for more bread and you shall receive. My mom enjoyed the scallops. Very, very good meal. Waitresses were really nice too and attentive.

David M.

Yelp
Ball dropped big time my meal came out on time quest delayed by 10 minutes and as a gentlemen I waited for my partner to have hers. Female manager would not even address me and when she did it was like I was a jerk. Pay for a good meal and get treated like garbage. Boy this old beautiful place has take a major nose dive. Do not recommend until they clean up their act wouldn't even ask if we drink refills. They suck

Yelp
6 of us went to Jimmy's today. I ordered the Teriyaki Steak Tips, baked potato, and salad. Ambiance: it's a nice place. Has been for the 30 years we've been going (no, not every week...lol. maybe a couple of times a year. I meet my cousins there. Service: The waitress was very good. Efficient! Came by enough to be noticed but not enough to be overbearing. Nice job. Food: mezza-mezza. The salad was fine. I found the steak tips were cooked medium but were tough to chew. Honestly, I thought they were re-heated or "chuck steak tips." Whatever they were, they were not sirloin. I was unimpressed with them. I would not buy them again. I've had their steaks before, so I know they can be good. This wasn't. The baked potato was solid. I mean, solid. You know how a well baked potato should be a little soft. If you squeeze it from end to end, the potato should crumble up... not this one. It was hot, but about 80% done. Everyone else at the table said the food was fine, only one (who got chicken) silaid it was really good. Overall, a 3 star. I will go back again, but if this happens again, I may reconsider.

Yelp
I Love Jimmy's! And I come every time I'm back in Boston to see family - now for years!!! Food is always delicious, served hot, super nice portions and so enjoyable! I love the steak tips, crabmeat cassarole, baked scrod, Chicken Messina and the Italian specialties as well! My friends always want to come here with me!

Yelp
Great old school restaurant with good service, environment, and food. Steaks were flavorful and reasonably priced. Great place for steaks away from downtown.

Yelp
Wait line is typically out the door. I suggest getting there 30-60 minutes before you want to eat. It doesn't matter if you get there before 5, you will still wait because the customers are typically elderly. Which I'm guessing is why the prices are so reasonable. So it's a great place to get a meal that's not overpriced. The atmosphere and decor is old and dark. Not very well lit. The staff all seem to be hopping busy and work well together. The food was mediocre but portions were good. It's one of the few places that still serves bread and salad. Our waitress who was a middle aged pretty blonde was not nice. She seemed to have an attitude which she directed towards my 12 year old daughter. She approached our table to take our order with an attitude and nasty tone which made my daughter and me very uncomfortable. My daughter asked me to order for her and this woman didn't appreciate that and directly instructed my daughter to look at her and order for herself. I was infuriated but didn't want to make a scene and make my daughter feel worse. She was already hiding her head in her menu. I simply intervened and ordered for her and tried explaining that my daughter was just shy. This woman could've cared less. She was not pleased with us, and before we could order dessert, she was giving us the check. She couldn't wait to get rid of us. The whole experience was unpleasant. Not sure what her issue was, but I suggest she not try to reprimand other people's kids. Maybe if she came over with a smile and introduced herself and was a bit personable my daughter wouldn't have been intimidated by her.

Yelp
They're just a shadow of what they once were!!! A filet mignon with a line of gristle thru it? Tough as well!
google avatar

Scott A.

Yelp
Opened in 1973, Jimmy's hasn't changed decor or their menu is over fifty years. This could be a blessing or a curse, depending on whether you like the year 1973. We were thrilled with the chicken and eggplant parm. We were less thrilled by the steak tips and burger. The portions are big FWIW. Expect to pay $30 per person.
google avatar

Yelp
Whoever gives this less than five stars, Should be punished and converted to a vegan. we went there on July 4th. if you've seen my reviews, you know I have had a lot of problems when ordering a steak the way I want, which is rare. so I ordered the prime rib, RARE and it came perfectly done. while I did use a steak knife, I probably could've cut it with a butter knife. It was so tender and tasty with perfect seasoning. .
google avatar

Tom R.

Yelp
Food was good as always, good entry level steak place . Good service. Sat at back of bar and watched all !!! Only one thing , small but.... Weird smell coming from bar.

Yelp
Always a great meal. I take my 87 y.o. mother once a month to her favorite restaurant, Jimmy's. They're always very consistent. Good food, good sized drinks, overall great value. This last visit we had Laurie as our waitress. We've had Laurie before and we get excited when she is our waitress. I feel bad I've never written a review for Jimmy's before, but this classic restaurant deserves a shout out. Great job again and thank you Laurie. See you next month I'm sure.

Carolyn G.

Yelp
Jimmy's has been in Arlington over 45 years and I'm so glad they are still around! We've been coming here for years. This restaurant is a classic, comfortable steakhouse and yes they have other fabulous food as well. Their steaks, chops, prime rib and tips are all super tender and perfectly cooked to order. They offer a large menu of items as well - chicken, seafood dishes, lots of Italian specialties, surf & turf, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and yummy desserts. All at a very reasonable price point. There's a good size bar with seating as you walk in to the left. A nice wine and beer list with some fun specialty cocktails. Also plenty of parking in their lot next to the restaurant. It's one of our go to places for a great meal, efficient friendly service (recently by Kimberly W) in a relaxing atmosphere! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed.

Yelp
A no-frills old-fashioned steakhouse adorned with burgundy-maroon and dark green-blue hues throughout the interior, Jimmy's Steer House offers everything traditional from what you'd expect from a steakhouse. All patrons get a booth and a coat tree rack. Parking is at an attached adjacent lot, 2-hour street parking or residential parking at your own risk. Combing through the menu, the prices were absolutely on the less expensive side. For appetizers, we ordered the seafood stuffed mushrooms and the crab cakes, where the former imparted a flavorful juiciness but not much seafood flavor came through and the latter had sufficient crab meat but leaned towards the drier side though the sauce somewhat saved it. For entrées, we couldn't avoid the ribeye and filet mignon and we had to say that they were both cooked to perfection - from its crisp crust and unbelievably tender center as your teeth sank through the meat fibers and layers of doneness before your tongue wrapped around it and commenced the satisfactory chew many times over. The ribeye had minimal strips of fat which we liked since that meant more volume for consumption but the filet mignon could've benefited with more salt and would've been that much more explosive. Increasing in size for the filet from 6 oz. to 9 oz. is only $3 - well worth it! Throughout our dining experience, our waiter, Billy, was one of the most professional, calm and patient (and I emphasize PATIENT). That trait made it all the more enjoyable. If you want an affordable steakhouse meal that's not too fancy with great service, look no further than Jimmy's Steer House!

Alasdair C.

Yelp
Great service, did well with 3 little kids who loved the desserts. Food was ok. My teriyaki steak was overcooked.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
The food is always hot and delicious. The service staff is fantastic and the place is always clean and not too noisy. Just wish they had mashed potatoes
google avatar

Pam D.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food. Husband had the prime rib and I had the steak teriyaki tips. Both were quite good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very pleasant and attentive. Will definitely go back.

Rodrigo S.

Yelp
Best meal on any given night! Jimmy's management: please be cautious of the teriyaki steak tips on "off" nights. Ordered once and they weren't good. Other than that good work. Keep it up, we love you!

Yelp
So my daughter and I were looking for a steak place in the area and came across here. I live in Boston my whole life, and I've never heard of this place, I've been in Arlington, and the Lord knows how many times and never even seen it. It is a little gem, and I'm glad I found it. Upon entering, you're greeted by a really nice hostess, then seated everyone is so polite and so kind. It has an old style rustic Steakhouse look, and I love that it's them in there, so it was exactly the atmosphere I was looking for. They have a pretty good menu, you can find something for everyone on there. From burgers to pasta, seafood, and steaks, they have a variety of things to pick from. Catherine was my server, and she suggested I get the Teriyaki steak tips because I was already considering the steak tips, and she was not wrong. I trusted her advice because she was such a great server and had that on his vibe. I got a side of baked potato and it was really good usually when you go to certain restaurants baked potatoes be so dry that's a question if it's even a real potato but not here it's so good. My daughter had a burger and she also liked it the only problem was there were no pickles which is very weird. My other dislike is I asked for a blended margarita it was very frothy and tasted so watery. Catherine didn't notice that I was drinking it and actually took it off my bill. I guess there are no complaints. All I thought about when I got home was I wish I had dessert but I was way too full, I can't remember the last time I went somewhere and actually finished all the food on my plate.. I was actually upset because I had one steak tip left, and I couldn't finish it, and I wanted it so bad. The prices are also unbelievable, Google the menu. They have a parking lot outside, so parking is no issue at all. All in all, I would definitely be going back here it might be a regular spot for me, at least until I try more of the food.

Yelp
My husband grew up in Somerville and for years I've heard about Jimmy's in Arlington. I finally got there late yesterday afternoon...and it was delicious! I gave it 4 stars because I only had a salad so couldn't speak to an entrée. BUT, what a salad! The Mediterranean Salad had just the right amount of feta, delicious beets, several kinds of lettuce, cucumbers etc...and the oregano vinaigrette (I asked for it on the side) was perfect. I added teriyaki grilled chicken (teriyaki is their 'thing') and I had a great meal. My husband had his go to: teriyaki steak, and he loved it. Nice cocktail list, dark wood with Christmas decorations and lots of people happy to be there. I'll def be back!

Marilee M.

Yelp
Always terrific food!!! I used to live close by, but now I go whenever I'm in town. My friends also love the food. So delicious. Consistently wonderful experience!
google avatar

Karl N.

Yelp
Service Food Ambiance All in all I would go back again and again! But try it yourself and see and taste it and make your own decision

Bob E.

Yelp
Service is excellent. Very responsive even though she had many tables to serve. Very quiet and nicely decorated for Christmas. Wee ordered steaks and prime rib. Good but not great. If you're expecting high end quality then go to smith and willensky instead but expect to pay more than double. Overall it's reasonable for the price. Portions are large and had some to take home

C R.

Yelp
Food is ok but I'm very disappointed that Laurie D is no longer there. She was an outstanding waitress whom was professional while making you feel like family. My dad and I would go at least 3 times a month. Some of the other servers lack the energy and enthusiasm. I don't think we will return. Maybe whatever happened could be rectified and we could again be served by Laurie.

Ryan P.

Yelp
Coconut shrimp appetizer worth getting (lots of coconut flavor) 9/10 Arincini risotto rice ball with mariners sauce appetizer was mediocre 6/10 Medium rare Marinated steak tips 6/10 + rice pilaf 7.5/10 Steak tips overcooked, but the side of rice pilaf was great.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Rude server. I asked for steak tips medium rare and they were cooked to medium. I got the same cocktail twice and the first one was good, second one was made wrong.

Jacqueline N.

Yelp
We've been going to Jimmy's for decades and the food has always come through as good quality but lately not so much. I feel they are par-cooking the broiled salmon and then heating it up as people order it. You can always tell when something is reheated. It is not the same consistency as it used to be. The vegetable medley was a soggy mess. Rolls are meh. Service is usually pretty good. Disappointing. We are starting to go to other places instead, which is too bad because this was a regular stop for us.

Star S.

Yelp
Overall it's always been perfect. I don't eat in restaurants but only @ Jimmy's since I've been a kid

Marisa M.

Yelp
My grandparents love this restaurant since they live in Lexington and it's close. Beside the fact I was served a quote on quote "chicken cutlet sandwich". I was served chicken fingers with cheese melted on it. I honestly laughed a chicken tender is not a cutlet
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Rice pilaf was wonderfully moist (highly recommended). Baked scrod was excellent. The place is a happening spot for the senior community but they have a pretty good kids menu and families can well enjoy.

Mona M.

Yelp
Very good good. Enjoyed the salmon and daughter enjoyed the pasta dish. Service was quick and friendly.

Bob C.

Yelp
Ok food nice people very reasonably priced good selection convenient location with parking

Yelp
Totally forgot until yesterday that I said I'd be back for the prime rib. Less than impressed with it. I don't know to describe it but it tasted like supermarket quality beef (and that beef has tasted off to me for ten plus years which is why I rarely buy it anymore). 99% of the time, I eat steaks and roast beef at restaurants because they can access better quality meat. No, I could have made this at home. I have left overs if anyone wants some. The shrimp cocktail was okay. A step up from frozen shrimp at the supermarket but not much. The cocktail sauce was very good though. Waitress and host were awesome though.
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
Consistent food, friendly staff, chill atmosphere that is welcoming for larger groups, family dinners, whatever.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
I have nothing to say but pure praise of Jimmy's. Old school atmosphere but clean and fresh at the same time. Service is amazing and attentive at every turn! We have been many times and never had a bad service experience. The food is great and the prices are unbelievable! You leave with a full belly and not an empty wallet. The only reason I didn't want to post this is because I don't want the place to be too crowded in the future. I give it a 15 out of 5!!

Yelp
Review: Returned here 15 years later for lunch it was so memorable! A great place to grab lunch/dinner especially for seafood! We ordered calamari as an appetizer and the breading around it was so yummy. The scallops florentine was amazing. The courses are pretty big along with the salad so I left feeling stuffed. Customer Service: Our waitress was super friendly and overall, excellent! Our food came out at the right time (pretty fast) and our waitress really took care of us. Ordered: calamari, scallops florentine
