Let me preference this review by saying with a change in attitude of the staff, this meal could easily have been a 4.5.
Arrived this past Saturday night to a packed parking lot, was expecting the worst, pleasantly surprised to have been immediately seated in a comfortable booth. Barely had time to sit, when server came over, "what can I get you to drink," in the way of a greeting....not hello,my name is welcome to Jimmy's...letting you know up front you're being served by someone who'd rather be anywhere else..
We politely asked for a few minutes to review cocktail menu, placed drink and dinner orders. Cocktails arrived, and like any good steakhouse, strong and well prepared. Barely had time to enjoy a sip when salads were brought out. House salads with a yummy blue cheese dressing. Would have appreciated time to enjoy our cocktails first, but.....
Had enough time to enjoy less than 1/2 of the salads when the entries arrived...literally 8 minutes after we were initially seated ( note salads and main courses were not brought to the table by the server, she remains her station the whole evening with her back to the table. Did come over once to ask how everything was, literally before we took our first bite!!!After that totally invisible, hiding at the station.
Dining companion and I had the stuffed shrimp ( absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, yummy stuffing, taste of sherry) and prime rib..cooked perfectly, minimal fat, as good as any steakhouse, unfortunately mine was COLD. ( I like the end cut so I imagine it had been sitting out for quite a while) Couldn't send it back, server was MIA. It was still delicious, but could have been SO much better. My baked potato definitely could have been cooked longer, companion had Jimmy's "famous," rice pilaf which definitely loves up to its name and reputation.
Come on guys, I've eaten at several of your restaurants, this was the worst service of all, and had the potential of being the best meal.
In reviewing the quality of the meat and the preparation, I'm willing to come back and give you a second try...the potential for greatness is really there.
Reheated my left over prime rib for lunch, remained juicy and when hot, it was delicious.
