"Jin Soon Choi, the fashion world's go-to for nails, has taken her tiny nail (and wax) salons to the next level. Each mani and pedi is more like a mini spa treatment for your hands and feet, with a menu of massages, essential oil, and hydrating treatments to choose from. Her technicians are great, the space is lowkey and blessedly low-tech (no vibrating massage chairs, here), and she has a five-free line of polishes, too (goop did a collab with her). She now has four locations, throughout the city. "

Pedicure experience & the tech are lovely but they have no drying fans so it will not last if you need to put shoes on. The drying fans they do have are 40 years old so they don’t use them because they dont work. Talented nail artists!! Head artist Serena is usually distracted and not very focused to clients. Worth trying the other nail artists that aren’t distracted. All talented! Ridiculously expensive. Although products are top tier they are still too expensive for how many wonderful nail artists are in the city.

Google
It was a nice organic experience. It's not quite what I expected. I'm used to jacuzzi bubbles and massage chairs. You won't get that here, but the milk and honey foot bath and soak was nice.

Google
Awesome service because I walked in without an appointment and they didn’t turn me away and was able to fit me in for both a mani pedi. Very nice and quiet and clean. However the chairs and equipment for the pedicure is extremely uncomfortable and after 45 min your butt starts to hurt, also the setup is not friendly for staff, it makes their job a lot harder due to all the maneuvering, hence the 4 stars. Pretty expensive for the quality.

Google
One of the best nail salons I've been to in NYC. They always do a good job and they don't pressure you to get extra service. It's a bit more expensive than cheaper nail salons in the east village but the premium is well worth it. It's the only place I go to now

Unfortunately, I've not been so underwhelmed with a service in a long time. Jin Soon gravely misrepresented their services. I went to the East Village location for a manicure and pedicure. While staff is nice, the actual service was less than mediocre. I received the Flower Petal Float® - the rose pedals looked as if they came from the bodega down the street. No rose essential oil or rose oil was used. The pedicurist tried rubbing the actual rose pedals on my legs; luckily I stopped her and suggested using oil or lotion instead. The massage was short and not very good. The shellac manicure was not great either. The actual manicure was ok, but the manicurist forgot to put lotion on my hands, so I reminded her. All in all - this experience cost more than $100. I suggest you go to your local regular mani/pedi spot and don't waste your money at Jin Soon Natural Hand-Foot Spa. It's not worth it.

Google
I was extremely impressed with the service I received- especially at 35. I expected them to lightly soak my toes and do mostly cuticle care and filing before painting my toes. But my technician went really above and beyond- she ATTACKED my callouses which I feel often gets overlook in NYC at the basic price (there’s usually some ridiculous 15 dollar extra charge for callous removal), and my nails were filed evenly. The best was the massage- she must have spent 15 minutes massaging my legs and it was awesome. She also was incredibly attentive to detail; again, this was the BASIC 35 dollar pedicure. Absolutely fantastic. If you come for a pedicure, ask for Pasang - she brought back my faith in a good basic pedicure can in fact be found in nyc!

Google
Serene setting, clean beauty, highly attentive, long-lasting manicures & pedicures. The polish is high-end, especially the House brand- making this my top nail salon in a city of millions.

Google
Superb! Excellent Mani/Pedi Service and they pay close attention to detail!

Yelp
Rude staff, nails look all un evenly filed. I booked a service and they didn't have time to even do the planned service. So they gave me a basic manicure without telling me. Didn't offer water or tea like they used too. Terrible experience for a "luxury" nail spa. -The lady sitting down is the one that told me that taking my gel removal off (which I had been booked for) took too long and now won't have time to do the scrub or massage. Then proceeded to charge me for the cost of a service I did not receive. Won't come back here. They used to be good! Went down hill :(

Yelp
I arrived on time and was greeted. My phone was on its last leg and i only had a cord but no cube. They didn't have a cube either. The location is small and a tad tight. I am led to the back. I assumed this was going to be a dry pedicure so was shocked when I saw water. The pedicure was amazing and so relaxing. I tried round instead of square and have no splitting. I will be back. Pricey but worth it

Yelp
My gel manicure didn't even last a week (I work a desk job), and when I stopped in to request that one nail (the worst of them) be repainted, they refused to accommodate me (despite there being only one customer in the salon at the time). I called Tribeca, same thing. For such an expensive service, this was disappointing. Additionally, considering the cost and reputation of the salon, the original manicure experience itself was disappointing. The EV salon is cramped, dark, and honestly a little grimy. They use the same polish that's used at any other salon in the city (not JinSoon's line) and there's nothing special or particularly skillful about the manicure. I work in customer service so I understand how frustrating requests like mine can be, but absolutely no effort was made to rectify the situation, and it sucks to have spent hard-earned money on a special treat for yourself and have it turn out to be not at all worth the splurge -- plus a generous tip. Save your money and go to any other of the thousands of nail salons in NYC where you'll get better service for half the cost.

Yelp
I normally don't get manicures because they never last one day. But, I had a photoshoot and needed a particular look. I'm now going on day for and I don't have any chips at all in my manicure. It looks as fresh as it did in the first day. That's never happened! I had a great experience. The salon is non toxic, peaceful, clean, quite, and the ladies did an excellent job. I'll be back.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place even more because I have to admit this is one of the best manicures I've ever gotten! The woman who did my nails was meticulous about the shape and clean up of cuticles, with an attention to detail I have never seen, perfectionism really. I loved that I could choose higher end nail polishes from Chanel, Nars, Zoya, Marc Jacobs (ended up getting Daisy, and it was the best pale pink!). Why 3 stars? Even though there was never a feeling of being rushed, the mani/pedi service took over an hour, the salon is tiny, 2 seats for manicures, 2 for pedicures, it was undergoing minor construction and I was so uncomfortable in both seats, the manicure station is a school desk with a hard wooden chair that hurt my back and the pedicure was a wooden bench with a couple of cushions, I rested my head against the wall. I paid a premium because I wanted to pamper myself in a luxe salon experience, but I got the quality service without the comfort level I had hoped for. Therefore I can't see myself paying more than $55 (basic mani/pedi) again. For manicures though, I fully recommend this place, I think for special occasions I would do that again.

Yelp
There are few places in New York City I've found that's truly managed to give me a fully satisfied feeling about a mani pedi but Jin soon is definitely one of them. They have exceptional skills and are clean and fast. They also speak really good english which makes communication fast and easy. Their pedicures are so refreshing and the massage was so nice. I totally recommend the cucumber and mint for summer pedis... Really just makes you feel good. The ladies were friendly and wonderful - it was totally worth the money. Pro tip: bring cash for gratuity!

Yelp
Discovered my new happy place. Best mani-pedi I've had in a long time. The Magic Clay Slipper pedi was just what I needed after days of hiking, running and walking. My feet look and feel civilized again. Loved the location and service so much that I went back the next day for a mani. Also obsessed with their citrus tea!

Yelp
My experience just okay. I had to wait 20 minutes past my appointment even though there was only one customer getting serviced and when it came to removing my gel pedicure there were some issues. Don't get me wrong, I expected the tech to struggle a bit getting it off due to it being the japanese gel but she ended up filing so hard that she cut me twice. I had a huge cut on my left big toe and middle right toe due to how aggressive she was being. I brought this up and she said "the gel is very hard to get off". Other than that, the experience was fine and I really enjoyed the summer oasis pedicure. The nail polish has lasted 3 weeks and I'm quite pleased with the quality of the Jinsoon polishes. Would I return? Yes but to the Tribeca location because I hear that one is much better service wise.

Yelp
Called and got a same day pedi appointment which was lucky! My technician was patient but while I was waiting to get the polish dry, she asked me to make a payment first which I didn't appreciate that. Why couldn't they ask to pay after the nails are done? That was rush and awk@@ and they leave you alone after you paid.
google avatar

Lynne V.

Yelp
If you want a relaxing zen pedicure there is no better place in the east village in my opinion. Tucked behind a Japanese divider are 2 spa seats (I hate those big unruly chairs because I'm short and I find them uncomfortable) and a ceramic basin to put your feet in which just seems so much nicer to me. You have your choice of essential oils to add to the water. I've gotten several of their treatments but the Breath of Milk & Honey was incredible and perfect for summer. The scrub they use while massaging your feet and calves is amazing. They also offer water and tea to enjoy while you're chilling out. Just overall so much better than the more traditional "wham bam thank you ma'am" nail salons that pervade NYC.

Yelp
Oh damn, this is one of the most high end nail places I've ever been to in Manhattan. My darling future husband got me a gift certificate here just because. Swoooon. It's serene and all, but being that it's run by FOBs and they open the back door and expose the guts of their storage space. Not so zen. I chose their Chanel and MAC nail polishes... it made me kind of giddy. The nail technician paid so much careful attention to everything she was doing! It was like she had a PhD in cuticle cutting. Then she liberally applied fancy lotion and gave a fantastic massage. She asked what kinds of essential oils I wanted for my foot bath--- I chose lavender. The colors were applied with precision. I marveled at my hands and feet, they legiterally looked like they were CGI. That perfect. When my nails were drying they came over to check up on me and removed tiny, tiny, bits of polish around my nails that I didn't even know were there. Lucky me!

Yelp
Very unprofessional & poor business approach. I work in the neighborhood & believed the reviews online hoping for a manicure. I stepped into the salon at 6:10pm & asked for a manicure- obviously a solid 50 minutes before the closing time. The woman at the front desk did not greet me or respond to my "hello" as she abruptly said "we are closing!!". I explained that online it says the shop closes at 7pm in which I explained I wanted only a simple manicure. She said thp

Yelp
I"m currently in NYC for business and while rushing out of L.A. I didn't have time to get my nails done. So I checked out yelp for a recommendation. I must admit, I was a little nervous to try someone new, but I was in need. So anyway... I went to the Upper East Side location and thought it was an extremely cute set up. They appear to be clean and have tons of nailpolishes to choose from including Chanel, Essie, OPI, Mac, Sally Hanson and some others. My manicure and pedicure look great. As soon as I stepped into the elevator at my hotel I received a compliment and inquiry about who did my toes. My only hangup was that it takes a little too long to do both because they are not setup where you can get both done at the same time. I was in there two hours which is too long to spend getting your nails done. Other than the time, I was pleased. I would say they are little pricier than I usually pay for manicures and pedicures just as good, but they give you a lot of extras like warm towels, bath salts, aromatherapy and a beverage. I can't comment on the durability of the mani and pedi, yet, since I just went today. One other thing, I asked if they took AMEX and they said they did, but then tried to get me to use a VISA or Mastercard. As a business owner I know AMEX charges more in fees, but how tacky is that! If you don't want to pay the damn fees don't accept the card.

Yelp
So I usually get cal gel but wanted to try something different and I saw some reviews about Shellac nail polish gel. I went to there upper east side location. I made a last minute appointment with my friend and we both showed up on time with our dogs in their dog bags. Right when we walked in one of the nail girls let us know dogs were not allowed. Well hello to you to. It was a cute yellow building that was extremely tiny and hard to pic out your nail polish without bumping into the people getting their nails done in the four stations they have. The one woman said if we keep our dogs in the bags we could stay, which we were planning to do anyway (with our less than 5 pound dogs). I under stand policies but usually nail salons I go to beg me to bring my dog. So this did turn me off from the beginning to be told this after we had to stand there awhile before someone could look up to say hello. After waiting a little bit we were seated. I noticed everyone else was offered a tea or water, but not us. We had picked out our Shellac color which was out of a very select few. The woman who sat down to do my nails never once looked up at me, said hello or really asked anything. She held my fingers so tight while painting them I thought they may leave bruises. She did pay a lot of close attention which was nice. At the end of the manicure she applied a ridiculous amount of lotion and then wiped it off with a nice hot towel then put another lotion on which was nice. Then she smiled and said if I wanted I could be put my dog on the floor, who was sleep in her dog bag on my lap. So my idea that the woman who told us dogs were not allowed was a personal rule and not a store rule. The single color shellac gel was $48 so about the same price as cal gel. Seems nice and natural looking, not like a thick gel. I will see how this goes and if it stays a full two weeks like cal gel. So in conclusion, the place was nice and clean cool looking decor, but the women there were not so nice or pleasant. Perhaps this is just my experience, I would return depending on how long the polish lasts since there isn't another place I have found that does this in my neighborhood. * edited this review to 1 star because not even two days later three nails came off! I just spent $60 on this gel manicure and on three nails the gel chips all the way off without banging my fingers. Beyond angry!

Yelp
Despite seeing it in the beauty mags for years, I'd walked by this tiny, bamboo-shaded salon several times without realizing it. It's surprisingly small, with only two pedi chairs and two vintage school desks for manicures. Even though I suspected I needed something a little heavier-duty, I asked for the basic Essence of Soul mani-pedi. The pricing really isn't bad, especially for the pedicure; a basic pedi at Bloomie Nails is $25, so $32 at Jin Soon feels okay to me. It's all about quality here. They have a dizzying selection of polishes, including NARS, Elizabeth Arden, and Sally Hansen Professional in addition to the usual OPI and Essie. The lotions, potions, stones and implements are all high grade. There's soothing music, and my manicurist perhaps sensed I was feeling pensive and left me to my thoughts. The Essence of Soul treatment starts with a soak in warm water with essential oil, which was very nice, though I'd have liked it to be longer. There's also a massage with a lovely citrusy lotion, and a reasonable rub with a lotioned pumice stone for the pedi. If you want a sugar scrub, you'll have to spring for the Milk and Honey upgrade. You end with a wrap in a hot towel. It's all very enjoyable (hough they're leaving room for additional luxury at a higher cost). Please note that my cuticles were cut without asking, so speak up if you're highly resistant to that. A couple of days later, my nails look fantastic. The polish is gorgeously, evenly, thoroughly distributed, the squared shaping is perfect, and I'm overall thrilled. I didn't get enough callus removal on my feet to spare me my post-shower sloughing ritual, but then, I didn't pay enough for that. As a general rule I'm more disposed toward the $20 mani-pedi than the $50 version I got here, simply because even the prettiest manicure will only last a week. I'd go back when in need of a serious pedicure, and I'd spring for one of the pricier treatments for a longer-lasting result. The $50 Milk and Honey pedi is actually more affordable than most high end spa pedicures. Mastercard and Visa accepted. ----------------------------------------------- *EDIT: I had to knock off a star because my manicure started chipping ridiculously fast. It was embarrassing.

Yelp
I rarely get my nails done. I could easily think of 10 other things I would rather do with my free time. Therefore paying anything more than $20 for a mani and pedi seems outrageous until I got my nails done at Jin Soon in the East Village. They do incredible work. The amount of detail from color selection to drying was impressive. They thought of everything. I paid well over my "$20" criteria. It was worth it. I was so elated with the work, I think I gave my whopping "$20" as a tip, I was so pleased. The setting is tranquil. It took me a while to settle into it - totally worth it. I walked out completely relaxed. I don't live in NYC. I visit frequently. Jin Soon is now my "must do in NYC" list. See you all soon...

Yelp
Tiny space, not THAT clean on the surface but could be cute. The girl that dos my nails did a GREAT job so it was a good spot for service. But not sure why this place was chosen as one of the BEST nail salons in the city. Again - I had a good experience - but there wasn't anything especially beautiful or relaxing about this place. Maybe another branch?
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
This is how you turn a bad day into an awesome relaxing one-go to Jin Soon. They are very particular about reservations but if you don't mind waiting sometimes you can sneak an appointment in. It is by far the best place to get a manicure or pedicure in the city. There is no rushing here so even though the pedicures can be a bit expensive you get primped and massages and no rushing-which is so rare for a manicure place-no matter what the cost. The last time I stopped by it was typhooning outside and the second I stepped foot inside-it was warm, inviting and calm!
google avatar

Priscilla T.

Yelp
Definitely on the high end of nail salons... $18 for a basic mani (Sakura charges $12 down the street and has the same ambiance but I don't know if they are as thorough). 4 stars in attentiveness but 3 stars overall because it's not really value oriented. Also, my mani/pedi-expert friend who went with me tells me that they should always give you a neck/shoulder massage which they didn't :( However, these ladies are precise and thorough. Every detail and cuticle is looked after and the lotion massage is great. Ladies are professional and quietly friendly.
google avatar

Natasha G.

Yelp
By far one of the best mani/pedis I've ever had in Manhattan. The Milk & Honey treatment is to die for. The place is pretty small, but I went in a party of 4 and they basically wouldn't accept anyone until we were all finished, and it's a lengthy process. Highly recommended. A gift certificate would make an awesome gift.
google avatar

Ling C.

Yelp
Considering how much the manipedis cost, you'd expect this "spa" to deliver an amazing experience. Not only do the staff look incredibly unhappy to do their job, the place is so RUNDOWN. The paint on the main door is peeling off, there are dark stains on the wall, the manicure tools looked rusty. The place is tiny and depressing. My girlfriend and I definitely won't be coming back.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
I called for a last minute appointment today and less than an hour later, was parked on the pedicure bench with my tootsies soaking in a bowl of hot water, soothing salts, and deliciously tingly peppermint essential oil. The pedicure was wonderful, the space private, and the attention to detail out of this world. I had my choice of teas (nutty green, yes please!), my choice of essential oils, my choice of polish complete with a free bottle of that color to take home. That was the funniest part - I thought the lady was trying to sell it to me, and she was explaining it was a free promo for the salon. It's only a few hours later, but I'd never had such evenly cut nails and polish. Well worth it.

Yelp
Nice place to spend a relaxing afternoon. The place is very clean and zen looking. It doesn't look like a typical nail salon - when you peek in the window it looks like a bunch of girls getting together for a manicure party. I looks like fun! I had a french manicure done, and Jin Soon the owner walked in as I was drying. She looked at my nails and did NOT like how the nail technician did them, so she re-did them herself! How nice!!! She is very picky about these things apparently. I actually prefer to do my nails myself, but if I am going for a manicure, I would go here. The pedicure turned out fine. I ended up being there for a really long time though, because Jin Soon had to do my nails over and it was a french manicure. Other points: They put this oil coating on top of your nails after you leave to preserve it. The serve tea when you get a pedicure. My nails didn't last long after I left, but they never last because I am not careful.
google avatar

Monica W.

Yelp
Its simple. They have the best brands/colors = Chanel/Nars/Essie and then some. They are perfectionists.
google avatar

Hélène S.

Yelp
These are sweetest nail technicians and total perfectionists. They use only the best, and give you a calm treatment in a zen setting. Not overcrowded, but its small. Appointments can be made same-day but should be made a few hours in advance. Only the best is used here, and super quick dry top coat will get you out and on with life.

Yelp
Ok, let me start out by saying that in general, I don't much like getting pedicures. I get them because my feet are really awful and if I don't get them, or at least do them myself, it's actually pretty embarrassing to wear sandals. Usually, I get one done in late May, at the beginning of sandal-wearing season, and then I do the rest myself until I can wear regular shoes in September. But now that I discovered Jin Soon, I've actually been back there five times. Voluntarily. This is actually pretty amazing for me. You know how sometimes you don't even realize what you wanted until you actually get it? This place is one of those. First of all, I never realized until I came here how much I hated those stupid whirlpool foot things that all the other salons have. They make a ton of noise and actually, they're not very sanitary. (Seems obvious, but it never really occurred to me before; because of how they're shaped, they're hard to clean thoroughly.) I also always hated those massage chairs at the other salons -- the ones that poke you in the back with rollers (that one I always realized, but I put up with it because let's face it, I had no choice.) Jin Soon dispenses with that stuff; they just have a nice porcelain bowl for pedicures and a bench with cushions for you to sit on while you're getting your service -- lovely and low key. The ladies have always done a great job with the color on my toenails and my feet come out looking great. Everyone there is very pleasant, too, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. As others have noted, the place is small -- two manicure stations and two pedicure stations -- but I actually like that a lot, as it keeps the place from being a giant annoying scene. I guess my one complaint is that the bathroom is teeny weeny, and they keep cleaning stuff in there, but whatever -- I come here for a pedicure, not to check out the toilet facilities. The first time I was here, I got the cucumber mint pedicure, which was nice, but a little weird. Every other time I've gotten just the regular pedicure, and it's great. I highly recommend this little gem in the East Village!

Yelp
I love pampering myself. I love getting meni-pedi's. In the summer, I do them weekly as we all know we have to keep our feet looking pretty in those open toe shoes and sandals. While I can't go here every week, I do go at least once a month, rotating between a couple other salons I like. By far, Jin Soon is my favorite. Though small, the space is very soothing. The mani-pedi is impeccable. They give great foot and hand massages as well, included in the service. The citrus tea is also very tasty, perfect for cold days. Be aware, they do take their time with your services so it's not where you want to go if you are in a hurry. It is best enjoyed in leisure. The Milk & Honey treatment for the winter, the Cucumber treatment for Spring/Summer. Although the basic is pretty great also. And be sure to call ahead for an appt. They can usually fit you in the same day, but they do fill up quickly.

Yelp
Not a good experience but luckily the office manager gave me my money back once I sent her an email. She was nice, professional, and very understanding.

Yelp
I've been to the 4th St and the 73rd St locations, and they both rock my world. The 73rd St. location is a bit bigger, but both of them are really lovely. Yes, it's a little more expensive than some salons, but the polish lasts and lasts, there's a vast color selection, and the techs are really friendly and attentive. Just a tip, you do need an appointment. Worth every penny. Jin Soon, je t'adore!

Yelp
I was out in the East Village, enjoying a relaxing spring day when I passed by Jin Soon. I saw the cozy interior and thought to myself, wow this place is really cute. I'd been wanting a manicure for awhile and it didn't have any customers yet so I thought I'd go in. In a nutshell, I'm very pleased. I love that they have Nars in addition to the standard OPI and Essie. The technician was very detail oriented and did a fantastic job even with the dark color I'd chosen. My hands and arms felt absolutely pampered afterwards (I opted for the Milk & Honey treatment). I love love love how cozy the place is... having just one other customer next to you makes you feel special. On top of that, the atmosphere is so unpretentious. I couldn't afford to come here everytime I want a mani/pedi but I would definitely come back whenever I want to treat myself!

Vivi L.

Yelp
I have been their other locations. This is the dirtiest one. I notice there were some hair or maybe something hairy things in my pedi sink. As I was doing my pedi, I notice them barely clean the sink, and they do not use any plastic bag for per customer. The sink is super super super dirty. And there were water marks everywhere around the seat. It will be my last time here.
google avatar

Yelp
3 stars for Jin Soon is a reasonable rating. Don't get why Vogue claims that Jin Soon is one of best nail spots around. I guess Vogue editors get their nails done at Jin Soon for free. Pros: Nail specialist spends more time working on your nails comparing to 20 dollar nail spa Cons: My nails chipped the next day, so what's the point of paying more?
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
No one does nails like them-I've also been to Jones St. Their standards blow the rest out of the water! I sometimes hand model and was recommended this place by an agent. If you want an excellent, throughly detailed manicure or pedi-this is the place. Also their citrus tea is delish! Really highly skilled & well trained staffs. This is the best manicure I've seen in NYC and hits the spot ever time!!
google avatar

Anita A.

Yelp
I got the CND shellac manicure as I got it done before and absolutely loved the results, just never had it done in NYC. After reading all of the reviews I decided to check it out. They were really very nice and the citrus tea they offered was amazing! The technician who applied my manicure was quick but she was a bit rough and painful when pushing back and cutting my cuticles. However everything else was good. I'll be interested to see if this manicure holds up and lasts as good as the last! It is really pricey with the removal and doing the new shellac (set me back about $55 not including tip) and tips are cash only, so despite how good the shellac manicure is, I might have to go back to a regular manicure.
google avatar

Yelp
Best nail place I found in the city so far!! I've been here many times, the service is very consistent. I basically got the single most meticulous manicure in my life. She was so patient and paid so much attention to details, I felt like it should've costed me a 100 bucks, so I actually felt pleasantly surprised when I saw the amount on the check. Lol. Great service really does wonders to my budget-cautious brain. The branch I went to is near Astors Pl, it's small but very zen, and they offer you a hot tea. Like like like.

Yelp
I go to a lot of nail salons, and generally I try to go to a new one all the time, but Jin Soon keeps me coming back semi regularly. First, they have a relaxing, cute ambiance. It's not super comfortable (this is a recurring theme among the "style" salons I have been too- same problem as Hortus if you want to see that review). Second, they have Shellac brand gel polish which I love, and most importantly they know how to apply it correctly! It's one of the few CND Certified Salons I have been to that actually uses the CND lamp. I also like that they don't file my nail and damage it before applying the product. Keep up the good work Jin Soon Salon :-) My only critique is that some of the nail ladies do a better job applying the color than others. Sometimes it's too thick. Also great pedicure services here, and they offer almost every brand of polish you can think of except for long wear brands.

Yelp
I went here with three friends and had a delightful girls' day out. I was amazed, however, that we filled the place up. There are only 2 manicure stations and 2 pedicure stations. I'm a bit of a cheapie when it comes to getting my nails done on the rare occasions that I do it, so I only splurged for a pedi here. It was very relaxing and I was delighted with the results. It's been almost a week and my toes still look wonderful. But I'll most likely go back to cheaper places because while I liked this pedicure, I don't know that it's worth twice as much as any other I've had.

Yelp
This is my favorite nail salon in NYC (this particular location). Yes, it's small (only two seats for pedi and two for mani) and not the typically fabulous spa, but that's what makes it even more inviting. The range of quality nail polish brands (Chanel, Givenchy, Jin Soon, and many more) is impressive. I agree that the manicurists are not super warm and expressive, but they take their work seriously. I once met the owner (Jin Soon), and she was very friendly and humble, and she made sure I was having a great experience at the salon. Again, if you want a spa that has all the phony bells and whistles, this is not for you. But, if you're looking for some peace and quiet while you get pampered, and a precise nail job, I recommend this spot.

Yelp
The intentions are good but the end results don't justify the price. My pedicure had a great feel with the massage. My nail tech just wasn't very good at painting my feet or my gel polish. I could tell that I wasn't going to be happy with my hands but after 2 hours I just wanted to get out of the tiny cramped place. I felt like I was in a box. The loud air conditioning and hard bench made relaxing out of the question. The furnishings are worn and old. I'm sure I won't be back.

Yelp
This place should probably consider not being open until it's remodeling is complete. It's super tiny, which is fine but it's super tiny with construction workers running around, blocking the entrance and front desk. I had to climb over another customer to get to my pedicure chair and then was left in the hallway with wet toes while my technician found an outlet to plug in the dryer. Everyone is in the way (including you) and it is anything but relaxing and calm. I felt like I was getting a pedicure on the F train at 5 pm. Seriously close up shop for a week, get all of your stuff done and then reopen. No customer wants to be a part of your makeover.

Yelp
I was going to give 3 stars to be nice, but it's best to be honest. As Rebecca A. said, they excel at pedicures and mine was as pretty close to perfect as they come. Great attention to detail, nice choice of scented oils, lots of scrubbing and massage. I like that they have bowls for your feet instead of those nasty jet tubs that carry all the gross germs. Their bowls are jet-free and seemingly much cleaner than your basic germ tub. I have to agree also about the manicures...really nothing spectacular. Don't get me wrong, polish and cuticles were perfected, but for $18 I was expecting scented oils, hot, fresh towels, delicious lotions, etc. but got a dingy-looking warm towel and plain dollar store-like lotion. I didn't get a chance to notice where the tools even came from, but they didn't appear clean and sparkly. I'd rather spend $15 for a mani at Dashing Diva in Park Slope and get the full experience, along with freshly-opened, sterilized tools. I guess I also expected this place to be super clean, but it simply wasn't. In my ideal world, a nail salon would look like an operating room, but that's just me. FYI only 2 mani chairs and 2 pedi chairs, so plan ahead and make an appt. And note to management, please install a water filter for customers asking for water (or serve bottled water). I asked for water and it was quite literally the worst tasting water I've had in my life (ever) and was undrinkable. Don't make my mistake! BYO H20.

Yelp
OK. This an update to my previous 2-star review. My regular ($10) excellent manicurist was off this past weekend when I needed to get a mani/pedi, so I reluctantly went to Jin Soon. Unfortunately--thanks to their regrettable policy of not being able to book a particular technician--I got the person who I think does the worst job. And sure enough, my manicure lasted all of about 12 hours before it started to chip off. A truly crappy job and $20 thrown down the drain. Jin Soon -- Are you reading this? Just because you do fashion shows doesn't give you the right to rip off your customers!! I won't be back, nor, obviously, will I recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
There are plenty of places to go in NYC for a mani/pedi but if you really want it done the right way, go to Jin Soon. As soon as you walk in you know you are about to have a special experience. The staff are great - they are friendly, chilled out and so nice. The citrus tea that is offered is so refreshing and it's like you are on a mini-vacation as you sip it while you are having a pedicure. The quality of the work is amazing. My manicure and pedicure lasts and lasts so the extra money they charge here is honestly worth it. I didn't even mention the waxing services - the technicians are wonderful and it's almost ouch-free.

Yelp
I chose this place as a birthday treat for my sister and me. It was a nice enough time, but I have regrets. We both had a regular mani and pedi with extra callus remover. Technicians were nice, polite, precise with applying the polish. Some weird things though - they did not ask up to pay before putting polish on our nails. We stayed extra long under the dryers - which you have to put on your lap?!! "SPA" IS NOT AN ACCURATE TERM. I am ok with the fact that it is very small (only 2 pedi chairs and 2 mani stations) but it clearly needs a good dose of TLC. Wallpaper was badly peeling in several areas. Avoid having to use the restroom - literally a tiny broom closet with buckets and mops to maneuver around. Also, the area where you select your nail polish is not lit well enough. I thought I had chosen a dark grey - florescent subway lights proved it to be a dark blue. Cost of 2 regular mani-pedi with callus remover was $70+ and then add tip. I don't think their price point is justified.

Yelp
Unless you know who the quality technicians are at this Salon, I would spend your money and time elsewhere. My basic mani Began peeling/chipping the next day, the polish application was sloppy & as others have said, they didn't ask for payment Prior to polish application! That was a first. The Dryer in your lap was odd but it is a tiny space so They must cut corners somewhere. The school-desk like Tables they use for manis are very uncomfortable.

Yelp
The best pedicure of my life. There is only room for 2 at a time, which contributes to the intimate feel of the place. The Balm of Purity treatment is incredibly relaxing. I'm a fan of the hot cream they use when they're massaging your legs. The women who work here put much time and effort into making sure that you're comfortable and that your feet look perfect. They certainly go out of their way to make a pedicure feel like a day at the spa. To top it off, the pedicure lasts longer than any other that I've had. It's a keeper.

Yelp
I have been here just once but went to the Great Jones location a couple times before I realized they had this one. It is my favourite pedicure place. I don't consider $32 to be expensive for a basic pedi, especially since the sanitation is much, much better than those sketchy places that offer $25 mani/pedis around the East Village. The manicurists at Jin Soon are always nice and skilled. They can usually get me in for a last minute appointment, too. And I give them a fourth star for décor, which has the soothing effect of a full spa. Only thing I haven't liked in the three or four times I've been there: This last time I added their extra callus treatment for $15 since my feet were terrible after weeks of traveling and wearing sandles. She did a good job on the calluses on the balls of by feet, but two days (of closed shoes) later my heels are just as rough as they were before. So I wouldn't recommend that add on.

Yelp
Always do a really good job. Great massage; caring, careful polish application. Although pricey, well worth the money.

Yelp
I have been to all three Jin Soon locations and like them all about the same. The #1 thing that I need to know when I walk into a nail salon is that they're clean. Jin Soon definitely seems clean. They have a very wide range of nail polish colors and brands which is nice. Give yourself 10 minutes before your appointment to look through them all. That part takes me forever. A little pricey, but worth it given my paranoia with respect to nail germs. I will say that the level of care given by each technician is not all the same - some do a better job cleaning up the cuticles, etc. than others. The polish always looks great and shiny and in the many times that I've had my pedicures done there, I've never had a chip before taking the polish off myself 2 weeks later. Jin Soon is definitely one of the places I am going to miss when I leave NY.
