I desperately needed a foot massage so while I was in Chinatown I figured I'd get one. I was walking around looking at all the near by places to see where they had a good deal with reviews. This place appeared to be the least sketchiest based on the fact it wasn't in a narrow downstairs space....although the places only had a few reviews I decided to check it out. I got the 30 min foot massage for $20. I was hoping the massage would help relive my side foot pain but it really didn't. Usually a foot massage puts me to sleep, especially when the right spots are hit. The Chinese lady began on my left foot and when I pointed and told her that I needed the focus on the sides, she moved to the right foot and spent most of her time on the right. Clearly she did not understand me and she did not speak a lick of English. I was kind of annoyed because my feet were killing me after walking 15+ miles from over a week ago and the massage didn't help relieve the discomfort.
Also, DO NOT attempt to get the cupping therapy here. Cupping therapy was always something I was interested in because my friends had told me how great it was. I saw that it was only $15 which seemed very cheap and too good to be true. I asked the lady in the front about it and asked how long the cupping usually takes (she spoke just enough English to understand me) and said about 5-10 minutes because it can be dangerous if it's done too long. I was kind of skeptical but figured sure it's Chinatown they must know what they're doing and usually have cheap deals. After texting a few friends and asking them about it, I said I'd try cupping therapy. The same Chinese lady brought me to a room and was talking Chinese. No idea what she was saying but I got the hint you have to take off your top to get it done lol. She stood in the corner and did not leave the room to give me any privacy and kept talking to me in Chinese pointing where I should be placed. I laid face down on the board and another lady entered and I could hear them grabbing plastic items from a plastic bag. As I laid there, I began to lift my head up to look and ask them what they were doing because I was expecting someone to talk to me - telling me when they'd be placing the cupping devices and I knew and felt that it didn't sound right. If you are familiar with the traditional cupping therapy method (which I am not but previously researched about it), it's done with glass and heat, hence why it can be a dangerous process...because they can BURN YOU! Well the Cupping pieces they were using were plastic with a twisting top to suck the air out. While they were placing the cups one by one, I kept repeating myself asking them, I thought this was done with glass and heat, where is the heat and no none would respond to me because they didn't understand me! So once the lady stopped placing the cups I had to began repeat ENGLISH, ENGLISH ! Finally, the lady in the room went to grab the lady from the front. After speaking with the lady from the front, I told her this isn't what I wanted and wanted them removed- I said I thought it was with glass and heat but I couldn't stop the ladies! They immediately removed the cups and placed them back in the big plastic bag they originally had taken them from....makes me wonder if they even sanitize the cups before using them on the next client. Just FYI if you want plastic cupping, They sell these plastic cups on amazon for $25-30 so you can do it yourself with some research.
