Re: Dhayagude F.
I wasn't there during the incident you speak of so I can't "challenge" you "prove you wrong." I'm also speaking on behalf of myself, as a regular (Korean) customer of this place. I'm sorry you had a bad experience - but I'd urge that it should fall short of being a *racist* experience. So here's what I would like to say:
1. I'm a regular who comes to this place twice a week; I work out at the nearby EVO Sports Club, and I would HIGHLY recommend the cream and mocha breads you can find on the left side. Their roll cakes are also super fluffy and amazing, and on the whole I love, love the bread that they make here. If you are a fan of Asian-style, sweet fluffy breads, this is the place to go;
2. In my capacity as someone who drops in on this place twice a week, I have basically never seen people sitting indoors, save for one or two Korean gentlemen that you mention. Speculatively, here's my guess: I'm guessing the two people were either friends or acquaintances of the owners; in these COVID related circumstances, it wouldn't be unreasonable to maintain and insist that customers sit outside while allowing friends inside;
3. I went in today to pick up my regular dose of fluffy, delicious breads, and spoke briefly to the lady who runs the place; and as far as I can tell, she's upset because she believes your experience was a misunderstanding exacerbated by her limited English. Maybe she was trying to explain to you what I'm talking about in #2; so before you jump to "racism" as the problem, I'd just recommend a mild dose of reflection and introspection for alternative possibilities;
4. If you really do have "many, many friends from Asia, Korea, and other parts of the world," then I really do urge you to take a minute or two to think about that this person could be your friend's mom, aunt or someone else; and maybe just take a moment to have some grace and think about alternative, reasonable explanations.
The internet is forever, and it's a shame that people reading through this website are going to see your accusations at the top. Racism is and continues to be a problem in America, for sure - but insofar as you seek to take a stand against it, I'm not sure if the Yelp review site for Jin's Bakery is the place to begin *that* fight.
best,
