"Jin Soon Choi, the fashion world's go-to for nails, has taken her tiny nail (and wax) salons to the next level. Each mani and pedi is more like a mini spa treatment for your hands and feet, with a menu of massages, essential oil, and hydrating treatments to choose from. Her technicians are great, the space is low-key, and blessedly low-tech (no vibrating massage chairs here), and she has a five-free line of polishes, too (goop did a collab with her). There are also locations in the West Village, East Village, and Tribeca. "

Such a lovely experience ! Went here for the first time and the women did such a nice job with my pedicure and gel manicure. Such attention to detail in a very pleasant setting. It is a bit pricier than my usual place but worth every penny !

I had never been to this salon and decided to book and appointment based on its reputation. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. I tried to give the nail tech the benefit of the doubt because she seemed tired but I really don’t think there is an excuse for what I experienced. When I got to the salon, I had a gel pedicure on and in the process of taking off my gel polish, the nail tech filed my nail down WAY too thin on two of my toes. At the time, they hurt very badly, so I just had her do a basic pedi. Now that the nail polish has started to chip, I can see that there is blood underneath my nail. It is still very sore and hurts a bit. I am not saying this is a bad salon in general, but if you have specific things that need attention, maybe don’t go here. I really hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Google
The worst! I’ve been coming for over 10 years and recently they have been mixing up the appointment times and then make it seem like it’s your fault. Very poorly managed and I would recommend York Think Pink which has much better customer service.

Google
Literally the worst most unhygienic pedicure I have gotten. Rushed job, only 1 super thick coat for a jelly sheer polish. I'm not even sure she put top coat on. I was asked to pay as soon as I sat down and then she looked annoyed that I paid "only"20% for that pedicure. The worst thing is that she asked me and another customer to put on cuticle oil but it was a brush. When I asked for another applicator because that applicator just touched someone else's feet a minute ago, she curtly told me "just brush it on." Despite waiting 30 mins instead of her recommended 15 mins to dry because i saw her polish application, my toes look like the picture below not even a half block away. There was no offer for plastic wrap and my feet seemed dry to touch but I guess that's what happens when u glop on such a thick coat cuz u don't wanna do a 2nd or 3rd. Every other jinsoon salon I've frequented I've consistently had quality pedicures but this place falls far outside that standard. Not only a waste of time, money, and effort. That I can live with but it was SO unhygienic and rude.

Google
I was surprised to see negative reviews about the space or the treatments. This is a beautiful spot, the service is amazing, and clients are treated with care, even at the end of a long day.

My first time coming here and it was amazing! Having a rose petal pedicure was much more nicer than I even thought it was! Gita did my french pedicure and she did it perfectly ✨. This will be my new place to do my pedicures 💖.

After reading a very positive article in the timeout ny, I decided to try the nail art design manicure and visited this ues salon today with a girl friend. Even if we are both quite happy at the end about our manicure, we won't go back, because our experience today was not corresponding at all to their advertisement on the website. We made a resevation two weeks ago for basic manicure of 30 minutes for $18. We arrived on time and asked for the design catalogue to choose from and we were told that we booked only for 30 mins and they cannot do any design because it takes at least one hour to do a pattern or design. There is no word about this condition on the website. After some negotiation, they agreed to do some simple two color shade design, that we chose from photo samples but then it was $30 per person. On the website, the price for a nail art is $15-25. Including the tip we have paid $70 for two, which is a lot more than what we expected. We feel like overcharged. They should update the price information on their website so that there is no surprise. The whole experience also could have been better if the staffs explained us better what we could expect and what choices were there for us. The lady who did the manicure to my friend seemed to be upset and arguing with her collegue about something. She was frowning and spoke anything at all to my friend during the whole time. We felt the tension between the two staffs and could not relax. Again, we are happy about our new manicure and they have excellent spectrum of colors and brand polishes but it is not worth paying so much additional, unexpected charges.

Google
I got a french manicure, it was ok but the following day, the shellac peeled off 3 nails which is disappointing so, there are probably better shellac brands or techniques they should use or go to another salon

Yelp
I came to this location last week and was horrified at the lack of cleanliness in this nail salon. The ceramic bowls used for pedicures were covered in mold/gunk and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. No liners were used.

Yelp
I went yesterday with my mom as a treat for us, and it was a very good experience. We had the Balm of purity pedicure with Jamuna and the flower petal float pedicure with Sunny. The nail techs were very professional in everything that they did. The place is very clean overall, and it's very quiet, with very low music playing in the background. The only thing that was strange to me is they don't take discover cards as a payment method, so bring a back up payment method if this applies to you. Looking forward to coming back in the future

Yelp
Treated my mother to a pedicure here while I had a manicure. Very gentle manicure but a week out, the gel polish is already chipping. The chairs for the pedicures were uncomfortable. Very small cramped space so it wasn't that relaxing as I had originally hoped.

Z V.

Yelp
This was such a disappointing experience . I had planned this pedicure treat for my sister and I a month in advance as a treat for our birthdays. The service was very rushed, there was nothing special about it, barely a foot massage with treatment (rubbing feet for a minute) and it was super pricey. I wish we had just gone to one of the other many salons in the neighborhood where the experience would have been better.

Yelp
Came here for a pedicure last night at 5:00pm after reading about Jinsoon in a beauty publication. Pros: Although the space is very small it is very clean. My pedicurist was very kind and took her time on my toes. They went from tragic to pretty in my 45 minutes there. The pedicure is $35 which is really a great price but I will say it is not a slow and pampering experience but very straightforward cut, file, lotion, polish type place but I did enjoy that. Cons: I did have to wait 20+ minutes for my scheduled appointment time and I got there 10 minutes early so just beware this could happen and leave some time! Also since Covid I am very aware of my space and because the space is so small and there are no barriers you really feel the presence of the person next to you. Juts for reference we could not both put our purses next to each other it was that close. I will be returning however and don't think its a bad place to checkout!

Yelp
Worst $90 ever spent! From my pictures (taken immediately after), you can clearly tell how terribly they applied the top coat! I complained at the end but the manicurist looked at my nails and said there was nothing wrong with the top coat not being even. "This is how we do it" Horrible customer service. Staff was eating throughout.

G M.

Yelp
quick and expert level gel manicure. no frills service but with a tranquil vibe that is more pleasant than other neighborhood salons at the same price point. nails are clean and shaped evenly, will return

Yelp
They squeezed me in last minute, which I appreciated. Sunny accommodated when I didn't clearly communicate which pedicure I wanted and promptly changed out the water, she also cooled down the temp for me when I said it was too hot. She was pleasant throughout even though I was a few minutes late (darn weekend trains) and she had an appointment right after me. She did a great job on exfoliating my cracking dry heels and was more perfectionistic than me about my nails but did not cut any cuticles when I asked her not to. I thought her customer service was very good.

Yelp
Perfectly fine pedicure. I was expecting a much more luxurious experience for the price. This was not nicer and in fact less comfortable than Tenoverten, which offers pedicures for $20 cheaper. Would not go back.

Eve S.

Yelp
Jin Soon should upgrade this location, stale air, dirty old cushions, so run down etc. the pedi was a 4/10. my heels were rougher than when I arrived and there was NO massage. lazy and arrogant. there are better places, don't book here , I went because of star ratings, not sure who posted them!!

Cecilia S.

Yelp
wow. aesthetician was coughing for forty minutes before being swapped out. but kept coughing around us. i left midway. called manager to voice my concerns and she hung up on me. what kind of service is this. literally first nail appointment i made in a year. my mother gave me the money to do it since the anti asian attacks have personally affected me and thought it would help me relax. now i am exposed to covid? what an awful place. update: they just texted me this to complain about me - which is so unprofessional and gaslighting. don't go here if you don't want to be harassed by random numbers after.

Bhuvna D.

Yelp
I usually abstain from writing terrible review but I think it is important to point out that the following nail salon is nothing like the one in Tribeca. This is a run down, imposter version with the most aggressive and reckless staff members. Visited this location for a last minute pedicure at the start of the year and all I can say is that the 'nail specialist' was rather uninformed and untrained on all aspects on nail and cuticle care. I am not sure if she just didn't possess the most basic skills or if she was plain old rude and unaccommodating. When I asked for another technician she started bad mouthing me in Nepali. Unbeknownst to her, I too am South Asian and perfectly understood what she was saying. The utter disrespect and negligence was rather shocking. The technician's colleague did step in to rectify the situation but to make matter worse, the new technician was rather aggressive for a cash tip. She hovered over me asking more than once to leave a larger tip to make up the money lost on her end in taxes. The expectation for a large gratuity after all of this is what really takes the cake. Needless to say I am sticking to Tenoverten or Chillhouse in the near future.

Yelp
I live essentially next door. Not my fave, but certainly a crazy great experience. The menu is great; it is a small local chain.

Yelp
This is the top of the line mani pedi salon and I won't go anywhere else it's so luxurious and you really feel you stepped into a spa and not just a random Nail salon....this place is the best in the city and I will return.

Yelp
Not your average nail salon, that's for sure. And yes, it's more pricey than any other, but their basic mani/pedi services are only a few bucks more and well worth it. I'll tell you why.. Their nail color selection is superior. With brands like Chanel, Nars, Michael Kors, YSL, Essie, OPI and their own line to name a few. All of the staff are very professional and well trained. They have a vast selection of services for both mani/pedis (milk and honey is by far my favorite). The atmosphere is so relaxing and the tea they offer you is great. I highly recommend the citrus. The actual paint job they do is perfect and meticulous and last far longer than any of my other manicures have. Every time I come here I have a great experience and I highly recommend them.

Nicki G.

Yelp
Best experience in the city with such good array of colors. Highly recommend.. jin soon is the best of the best as a businesswoman as well

Yelp
Need to update again! My nail polish chipped after less than 24 hours. To the salons credit, they told me to come back and they fixed it. 24 hours later, it was chipped really badly. My home manicures don't chip as fast as theirs did. That being said, the service itself was good.
google avatar

Alexandra S.

Yelp
Was really disappointed with my visit today. Definitely not as good as it used to be. Rushed and not relaxing, and expensive ($60 for a milk and honey pedicure). So you might as well go to the regular nail salon and pay half the price.
google avatar

Patricia L.

Yelp
Expensive but worth the treat! I've been here 2 times now and feel it's better than the neighborhood chop shops especially after seeing Dr. Oz! The 1st trip was New Year's Eve and I had a wonderful experience. My 2nd time in was yesterday and I was in much need of some hand pampering...so I went w/the paraffin manicure and regular pedicure. Shop is always super clean, they are on top of cleaning the bowls the second you walk away...this shop is top notch and well worth the extra bucks. They are now carrying nail polish that is guaranteed to last 14 days, I did not try as I brought my own color but will try next time. WARNING....TIP IS CASH ONLY!!!

Yelp
Going downhill. I have been going to Jin Soon for years and typically save my visits for those times I really want to treat myself to something nice. It's small and intimate and generally more relaxing than your typical nail salon. After my last experience I will probably not return. I'm not sure if most of their regular manicurists have moved to their new location in Tribeca, but on my most recent visit I only recognized one of the manicurists, and the woman who handled my mani/pedi was not representative of what I'd previously been used to at Jin Soon. My manicure was probably the worst I've received in memory. Right away I noticed she had painted to low into my cuticle area and the edges were messy. During my pedicure, there was no massage and way too much lotion used. By the morning of day two after my manicure, half of the polish on one finger had just peeled right off and by the end of the day, two more followed suit. I'm careful with my nails and my manicures usually last at least a week if not longer. I'm tempted to call and ask for refund. This is not just a poor manicure, it's unacceptable.

Jane C.

Yelp
I agree the UES location has gone way down. Haven't been there in awhile as I moved out of the city. I have three (!!!) bleeding cuts in my cuticles and there was no "sorry" just told my cuticles were dry! And the manicure was mediocre for a number of reasons...

Marie P.

Yelp
This place has gone WAY downhill. I've been going to Jin Soon since before they had an UES location. I'm a hand model and this is the go-to. Jin herself was really the go-to and she used to train her technicians to be almost as great as she is. It was worth the premium for an amazing mani. No more. So sad to say that this has not been the case for some time now. I've been giving them the benefit of the doubt, not wanting to complain, etc., but I've finally had it and feel I must say something. My manis have been subpar for a while and when I point it out to the technicians, I'm usually met with major attitude or no reaction whatsoever. I make specific requests about shape & polish (round edges, not too clumpy, etc.) and almost every time, I have to make the request literally 5 or 6 times before they get it, and even then, it's more that I just give up realizing they'll never get it so why bother? I'm writing this on my way to a hand modeling go-see for which my nails should be impeccable and as I was inspecting them on my way downtown from Jin Soon, discovered MAJOR unacceptable flaws. I am appalled at the lack of professionalism. Jin deserves better.

A D.

Yelp
Wow is all I have to say...in a bad way. I usually go to the Walker Street location and love it, but being strapped for time I decided to check this one out by my apartment. The experience was mediocre at best but here's what really got me...as the woman placed the LED light on the desk to begin my gel manicure, I noticed a bug crawl beneath the bug apparatus. Trying not to hyperventilate, I informed my nail tech, she lifted the light, and lo and behold, a baby cockroach crawled out. The woman did not apologize or kill the bug...she actually gave me a bigger attitude after that. No apologies were made as I left, went to grab my shoes, and noticed the same bug once more, with no acknowledgment by the staff. I'm not asking for a discount or a free service, but an apology or acknowledgment is proper protocol. Will never go back to this location.

Valerie A.

Yelp
I have tried to be a customer twice and both times they have declined my walk-in. The first time I came alone. At that time I thought perhaps they were busy in the back. The second time with my daughter. There was no effort to accommodate me at all. They said they could not help me before even asking me what I would need. It was NOT busy. We wanted to simple manicures. It is Wednesday evening and there was in person getting her nails done. We were there around six o'clock. Lesson learned, I will go back to Sapphire Nails & Spa on the upper east side. I hope JIN soon learns some basic manners and customer service like "hello" and " how can I help you? "

Christina L.

Yelp
Horrible customer service! They literally didn't even say hello when I walked in. They were rude and rushed through the pedicure. Not a pleasant experience at all. I really wanted to like this place since it is convenient. I live half a block away. I will definitely never come back here.
google avatar

Paula T.

Yelp
Let me start by saying these are above-average manicures, which kept bringing me back to this place. However, today's experience, in terms of customer service, took the cake. Just like some of the other customers, you feel like you are given a favor by having your money taken and allowed to come in. I had a gift certificate and wanted to cover the rest of the amount with a CC; however, I was told in a rude way, that gratuity is not accepted on CC (although being told otherwise, prior). Eventually, I had to go out in the rain, after haggling for a few minutes, to the nearest ATM, for the cash gratuity. Ah, yes, and the minimum charge for CC is $18 (?). I did not appreciate the attitude and I am not sure I am coming back to a staff that seems to be unaware their services are 50% above market rate.

Yelp
I fell in love with Jin Soon a year ago. But now it is time to break up. Initially, I was attracted by the cleanliness. They do not use tools like nail files on multiple customers without cleaning/sterilization (like many cheaper salons do) and do not have the whirlpool footbaths. I kept coming back for the quality of the work. They do great cuticle care and very long-lasting polish (5 days on my hands and I have not actually had nail polish chip or rub off between pedicures). Nail shaping (especially on hands) is more variable, with some technicians doing a wonderful job and others not being as comfortable with the natural shape that I like to have. Foot care is also variable. Initially, it was pretty good but for my last 2 pedicures, the foot scrubbing and even basic foot cuticle care was significantly worse than before. The thing that I have been overlooking initially is the unfriendliness of the staff. After coming for several months, the ladies who have previously provided services to me started to recognize me and they were nicer (I am a generous tipper). But everyone else treats you like they are doing you a favor by tolerating you in the place. When trying to make an appointment, you basically have to fight to get anything within 2 hours of closing, even a week in advance, even just a manicure (and not because the salon is full). I have never been late or missed an appointment (although have been forced to wait up to 1/2 hour on several occasions) but still intermittently they would demand a credit card number to hold even basic mani/pedi appointments. On arrival, you are ignored. Then, after you are done drying your nails, you have to hunt someone down to pay and do any final touches. With the deteriorating pedicure quality, for me the balance of the cleanliness/quality vs. unfriendliness/price has finally shifted towards trying to find a new nail place. Let the games begin.

Chita D.

Yelp
So the b/f got me a gift certificate for the Breath Milk & Honey mani & pedi. It was a nice experience, I came out with an *immaculate* manicure & pedicure. And although I cannot justify paying $30 for a manicure & $50 for a pedicure on a consistent basis, I do see myself going here on a 'you-deserve-to-give-yourslf-a-nice-treat' trip. The milk & honey soak could have been a bit hotter, but that's just my preference. And for the money that was paid for said services, I feel more time could have been dedicated to each experience. For both mani & pedi (done at seperate times), there was a total time of one hour dedicated. Apparently, this location is the newest addition to the Jin Soon nail salon chain. The decor is bamboo minimalist, I liked it. However, it is a small space, so for those that have a bit of claustrophobia- this place may not be for you. And because it is small, I'd suggest you make an appt. to assure your reserved space, as they do get constant walk-ins (not surprised- they're constantly listed in national fashion magazines as one of the best mani/pedi places in NYC).

Yelp
Overall, my experience with Jin Soon was pretty great. We got off to a rocky start bc the girl who was helping me seemed impatient saying shit like "Okay, I'm ready now!" But she did offer me tea which was SO good - get the Citron tea! You will love it and you can purchase it for $13 right there. I elected to get the Milk and Honey pedicure ($50) and the grapefruit essence (they had other ones like lavender and rosemary) They also had every single color of Essie, OPI, Sally Hansen, NARS, MAC, and Chanel. The pedicure was pretty sweet - she took her time with my cuticles, shaping and file (and when she taking care of some ingrowns it didn't hurt like a bitch like it always has), scrubbing, and massage. The polish application was also impeccable. During the process she was really nice although at the end she asked that I tip in cash (which I didn't know) and let me charge it since it was my first visit. She asked me how much and I said 8 bucks (usually I tip more but I was still holding a grudge about the impatience in the beginning) and she said "well that's less than 20% How about 10 dollars?" I was so shocked that I said yes but in retrospect, that is so rude. I probably won't go back to that location but I might try the other ones to see if they are less crazy about their tips.

Miche D.

Yelp
Just don't. Really. I made an appointment on a Sunday for a Shellac Manicure completely based on reviews. GAH. Big Mistake. but, hey, at least I know now. I am a pretty good customer: I don't bitch, whine, demand, or gab on my cell or any of the other annoying stuff - and I tip usually 30 % (I used to work in the service industry) and I have to say, I felt absolutely positively taken advantage of - paying a premium for a mediocre RUSHED manicure. You have been warned.

Yelp
This is as good as it gets when it comes to pedicures and manicures. Occasionally, I have risked my foot health and gone to some makeshift nail salons and wondered if the equipment had been sterilized or if the foot bathtub had been cleaned. Then subsequently wondered if my feet would take on a strange smell in the days proceeding. Luckily, this has never happened. Jin Soon gives me the utmost in peace of mind regarding cleanliness. Every nail technician is really friendly and gentle and I can tell that everything they're using is clean. The polish selection is unprecedented. I didn't even know most of the brands they have had nail polish lines. My feet feel and look amazing after each milk and honey pedicure here.
google avatar

Gloria Y.

Yelp
This isn't a $20 mani/pedi place you find all over Manhattan (or $15 in my hood in Brooklyn), and that's what makes it amazing. Yes, it's a bit pricier, but not pricier than normal places anywhere else in the country. Even cheaper than some "spas" that do terrible jobs in Midtown. I've always like having pretty hands and Minu makes sure that it happens. She's one of my regular ladies and knows exactly what I mean by just natural, round shaped nails. Plus my cuticles look amazing even when I ask them not to cut it! And the color selection here is unbeatable. I don't know any other nail place that offers Chanel, MAC, Tom Ford, NARS and other top luxe polishes. Now that Jin Soon has her own line, I always end up choosing one of her colors to show support. Not to mention the colors are always on trend, since Jin Soon pretty much dictates nail trends in all editorials today, and the formula lasts. I chose the new vampy one called Risqué and my roommate's straight male friend complimented it. So come here, pay a smidge more for manis and pedis that last much longer than anywhere else, or go someone else and be pissed that the girl is jabbing your cuticles just because she has no idea what she's doing. Or filing them in the ugliest shape because you asked for round! And ask for Minu, she's amazing. Oh, if you're from LA/SoCal, it is a bit trippy these ladies aren't Vietnamese, but you'll get used to it.

Emma W.

Yelp
Sabina is a rude person. She asks like shes doing me a favor. Im paying you 25 dollars sometimes i tip 10 ten dollars. For a manicure that is done with an attitude and rolling eyes. Been going there for 5 years its convenient to where i live and the actual job is average at best. Its just so sad that their service is horrible. Im not going to be going back here. Definately not after the treatment i go today. I asked her to even my nails out and its always big drama as if im being difficult. When i ask to even out my nails, they start speaking in "their" language, they are so up their own asses. They think they are the only people who do nail services. Glad to be going else where.

Yelp
LOVE IT! The pedi was great!! I just got the basic pedi and it was so relaxing! Get the citrus tea...its amazing! I got the Shellac (by CND.com) new mani. They are one of only 2 places in the city that does it! Its all amazing! The place is tiny so don't go in thinking its going to be some huge place because it will catch you off guard. I am pretty sure there wasn't even a sign, It's just a yellow framed place with big windows in the sitting area. I had a great experience even though there was a super SUPER grumpy/grouchy lady in there at the time. She was asked to wait 5-10 minutes and you would have thought someone asked her to giver herself the pedi & mani. Maybe its just me, but when I go for a treat like this, 5-10min isn't going to wreck me. Maybe she should have schedule an earlier appointment if she was on such a tight schedule! Anyways...it was great, clean, cute, and relaxing!

Yelp
Just had a terrible manicure here. First of all, my manicure is uneven and patchy--the way my manicurist was applying the polish was very odd, in strokes going different ways. Also, this salon advertises that they do nail art, which they should not. I wanted a simple tip in a different color--like a French manicure. She had a lot of trouble with it and initially it was very uneven and didn't even go all the way across the nail. After I requested she do it correctly she tried to fix it, but had to make it very thick in the process. It's fine if you don't know how to do it but do Not advertise it on your site. Really disappointed that I spent more on a subpar manicure than one I could get at my local nail salon.

Yelp
Been going here off and on for years. The seating is uncomfortable. Very hard chairs to sit on, especially when you're getting a pedi. The mani and dryer stations are RIGHT next to the door. Very small space. Very cold and uncomfortable in the winter months. They demand you take your shoes off at the front door like it's their personal home or something. Customer service is awful. You see the reviews. They need to restaff this place. The women are NOT friendly, they don't say hello or goodbye and speak only to each other the entire time in their language. Got my pedi done her before I went on vacation and it was horrible.

Yelp
UPDATE: I must say that I was impressed to have been contacted by the owner her(?)self, who wished to learn the date/time of my visit, so that s/he could identify the aesthetician who performed my procedure to provide additional training. S/he also took additional measures to set things right. Having heard tales, from friends, of business owners who contacted them, enraged about the reviews that they'd written & threatening to sue, I am ever more impressed w/ Jin Soon. This was exactly the response I would expect from a quality establishment. I can forgive a business for not being flawless. Jin Soon is darn close & striving to be even better; that's laudable. *previous review* I (a male) recently took a female friend to Jin Soon for her birthday. In spite of the small space, the staff managed well, moving customers efficiently about, like the tiles of a slide puzzle. Two things I dislike about most spas, when it comes to men's manicures, is that they tend to cut the nails too short and always want to apply a clear coat of polish, no matter how one protests. Jin Soon committed neither of these affronts. My chief complaint, however, is that the next day--after all the manicurey goodness had warn off--I noticed that I have tiny scratches, from my cuticles towards the tips of my nails, on almost every finger, that were definitely not there, before. I expect that these typically go unnoticed, as the nails get covered in polish, but mine actually look a little bit worse for the wear, than when before I'd gone in. Also, agree with Meg. K. that the pedicure benches are a little awkward. It's impossible to recline in them and equally difficult to have one's feet in the bowl, while sitting upright. */previous review*

Yelp
I made an appointment for the new Shellac manicure on my birthday, but then had to reschedule- apparently I wrote the time down wrong, but when I arrived, (45 min late!), they accommodated me quickly. The manicure was fantastic, and the Shellac is...wow. I got it over 2 weeks ago, and it still looks flawless. I am HARD on my hands, too! (I tried an OPI long-wear manicure a month ago, and the damned thing chipped and fell apart within ONE day. It's supposed to last about 2 weeks.) The color choices for the Shellac are somewhat limited, but I think that's more on CND than Jin Soon. I wanted a gray color, but they mainly have pinks, so I opted for "Fedora" a vey dark, almost black, berry color. It is pricey- 45.00 for a manicure with the Shellac- but I travelled to Europe, went to a wedding, cleaned my house and have been typing and knitting non-stop, and the polish is still shiny and pretty. The salon itself is small, but the color choices for the normal mani/pedis are amazing, and the space was serene and laid back. recommended for anyone who wants to treat themselves.

Yelp
Best manicure-pedicure in the city! I loved this place! It is totally worth the higher price. I got the CNC shellac too, and it lasted over 3 weeks with NO CHIPS! You definitely need an appointment, it is a very small place. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because the chair, well it is actually a bench, that you sit on for the pedicure is uncomfortable. It is a wooden bench with a pillow on the seat and a pillow behind the back, and I really expected something better/more comfortable for the money. They accept credit cards for the service, but bring cash for the tip.

Yelp
I always get psyched when I am coming to get my nails done here! Today, I got a pedi with the grapefruit heated lotion. My favorite is the spa pedi with the milk & honey- so worth the price- $50. LOVE this place!!

Yelp
I am used to get my nails done in Belgium, Europe. While being in New York, I decided to get a mani and pedi @ Jin Soon. It was an overall exceptional experience. The estheticians were very friendly and most important: very professional. My french shellac looks great after almost 3 weeks (although I have the most difficult nails to treat) and also my pedi looks crisp. They pamper you and I must say that it was the most relaxing mani pedi experiencie I've ever had! Bravo bravo, I'll come back!!!!

Yelp
Looking for a moment of zen on the upper east side? Look no further! Jin Soon Hand & Foot Spa is your destination for peace and relaxation! Tucked away in a tiny storefront on east 73rd street, you might pass this place right by if you are not paying close attention. Once you are inside however, you'll be glad you found this little gem of a spa! The back area is my favorite spot in this place. It's this lovely little pedicure room that is so relaxing and peaceful. The soothing music adds that final touch that will help whisk you miles away mentally. Once your pedicure service starts, you will feel the stress just melt away and your feet will feel like putty. They offer many different "special" spa type manicures and pedicures here, as well as facials and waxing. I usually opt for the "Spirit Of The Beehive" pedicure in the Winter and the "Summer Oasis" pedicure in the warmer months. Both are wonderfully soothing to your feet and legs. For my manicure, I like the "Spirit Of The Beehive" as well or "The Balm Of Purity." This place has the largest selection of nail polish (both in terms of brands and colors) I've ever seen at any spa. All of the nail treatments are a bit pricey, but well worth it. I leave here feeling buffed, pampered and relaxed...as if my hands and feet are as light as air! My manicures and pedicures here have always been nothing short of immaculate! They also seem to last twice as long as the ones I get everywhere else. One time, I was lucky enough to get my manicure from Jin Soon Choi (the owner and famous nail guru to many celebrities) herself! I was flattered when she complimented my skin and praised me for staying out of the sun and keeping it looking so young (she said I had the skin of a 20 year old...I am 40, so that made my day for sure). If you are looking to treat yourself to a bit of pampering and relaxation, Jin Soon is the perfect place!

Yelp
To start off, I was 10 minutes late. That is on me. However, what happened after was so odd that I must write a yelp review about it. So I walk in, decide I'm going to treat myself because my toes and nails were very Hocus Pocus, and so I pick out a light Dolce and Gabbana blue for my nails. Now, usually I close my eyes and relax a little while I'm having my nails done, but when I opened them instead of the color that I chose, (note: the D and G bottle was still half full of polish) the lady was just finishing painting my nails with an entirely different shade of blue from a different bottle; a Zoya bottle. WTF. Even if there wasn't enough polish in the bottle, they could have asked me to pick out a different color. In the grand sceme of things this is minor, but I'm sticking with tenoverten from now on for my nails.

Yelp
not bad. My manicure/pedicure lasted a week- which is long in NYC.

Yelp
Update: often times towards the weekend you really have to book ahead of time - I've walked in to their UES location and got turned away because everything was full. Also went to the east village location but nails chipped after a couple of days. Still good service in general. Nothing but exceptional when it comes to manicures - no chips for almost a week, which is something I've never experienced before. Service was great, the lady offered me hot green tea and did a great job with the manicure. Slightly on the pricey side but hey it's worth it and will last at least two weeks! Eva Chen (Lucky Mag EIC) recommended the place via Instagram and I love it!

Yelp
Yes. It IS expensive compared to your average nail salon, but you get what you pay for. I found the facility clean and the staff professional and courteous. I was blown away by the nail color selection especially the inclusion of high end brands (including Chanel). I don't know if it's the better quality polish or the application but it lasts! It does not chip easily and my hands are washed upwards of 20 times a day. It's my every 2 week gift to myself. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is a complete rip off. I'm so mad, I'm writing this from the pedicure chair. First, the lady that's doing my pedicure cut me when she was cutting my nails. Then, after a cursory pass with a rock, she says to me that callous removal is an extra $15! At this point, I'm furious. Every other pedicure I've ever gotten includes at least some callous removal and there is none here, so I'm paying effectively paying $32 for a nail polish change. I will absolutely be asking the manager for a refund. In the meantime, buyer beware.

Yelp
For these prices, I definitely expected better service, better interior and an overall better experience. The salon is very narrow and tight -- so from the very beginning, it's not the most ideal spa experience. It's followed by no front desk, no reception, just manicurists calling at you, summoning you very curtly. Then it's followed by just a regular manicure with a slightly lengthier massage. Nothing super special. Two more reasons that made the experience even less pleasant: 1. Visited the bathroom (TINY), and there was a cockroach crawling. 2. I got a nail infection on my third nail - bad enough where there was swelling for 3 days followed by having to puncture the infected area and draining out the fluid. Maybe the downtown locations were better, but I really don't think it's worth either the trip or the money. I've had 10 times better experiences at regular nail salons near work or home. The only upside is they have a crapload of nail polish choices ranging from Essie, Zoya to Chanel, Nars and of course, JinSoon.

Yelp
Luckily my nail technician did an outstanding job, or else this place would have gotten 2 big fat stars from moi. I just finished running a 4 mile race in Brooklyn and all I wanted at the end of the day was a relaxing mani pedi. I looked all over yelp for a place to go to, that was open, and not booked. I saw the reviews about Jin Soon and I quickly placed a call. I was able to get an appointment for a mani pedi at 5:45pm. On my way there I was beaming with excitement, BEAMING, because I've heard such great things about their milk and honey pedicure. "That's just what I need" I say to myself as I skip down 2nd ave in my cute Hunter rainboots. Once I arrived, the place is cramped with other excited women in need of a mani pedi just like yours truly. I wait at the door for 5 minutes---still not greeted. uggghhh..... So I walk down the narrow of what seems to be a walk way to their pedicure room. No response. So I finally go to their little office room and ask for some help. The lady is friendly and smiles, but I'm not sure exactly what that means, since she didn't tell me to wait, sit down, or if they could help me. So I walk back to the seating area. 10 minutes later, one of the staff tells me they are sorry but they cannot take me. "WHAT! But what about my milk and honey mani pedi....i...i...i had an appointment" I plead. " Yes, I know, but we are really busy, you can come back again tomorrow" says the worker. At this point I was pissed, what disgusting abominable world do we live in that an appointment for a mani pedi can carelessly be disregarded! Finally, after my 2nd plead of "but I had an appointment," one of the other women says something and then the lady says they can do either a mani or a pedi...not both... *sigh* As much as I really wanted to leave this place and just give them the middle finger, I was so desperate for that milk and honey that I said ok....."ok, I'll get the pedi". I then meet my nail tech who offers me some citron tea (It's ABSOLUTELY delicious!). The citron tea almost put me back in the good mood...almost...until I found out that she could not perform a milk and honey pedi on me...OMG OMG OMG...."why?" i ask. "we don't have it" one of the nail techs respond. "Oh ok...WE DON'T HAVE IT" I repeat and shrug my shoulders .... At this point, I didn't even want to argue, just give me a freaking pedicure. Although I didn't get my milk and honey, the nail tech did offer the Balm of Purity which consisterd of a massage using grapefruit cream and my choice of oil (peppermint) and hot water to soak my feet in- was pretty relaxing and soothing. I was very satisfied with the pedicure and application of the polish. I was not satisfied with the customer service and disregard for appointments. But I am a hopeful person, and hopefully this was just an off day. They told me I could come back the next day. "that's ok I said, maybe another time..." I have not yet decided if there will be another time..... _______ Fact: On the part at the end of the review where Yelp asks if this business accepts appointments...i put "no" Fact: They accept credit cards, but only for payment...so make sure you have cash for tip Fact: They do have a large selection of nail polish brands by Opi, Chanel, Nars, Zayo, Essie, and Sally Hansen. Fact: it's pricey
